Cisco sg200 Switch passive PoE support

                   Hi
I have a cisco SG200-08P switch. I would like to power a device (TP Link TL-WA901ND) that supports passive PoE.
However it seems that the SG200 series do not support this?
Am I correct in this assumption, and if so is there a workaround?
Thanks for looking Dave

Hi,
According to the data sheet (below link) the SG200-08P supports POE.  So, it should be able to power up the AP.

  • Cisco SG200-26 Keeps Losing Setup - How?

I'm using SG200-26.  I updated the admin password, then I set a static IP.  All good.
*BUT* everytime the device is restarted/power down/etc, it LOSES all the setup and goes back to factory default.
Not a clue WHY.  Never seen anything like it.  Can anyone please help or offer suggestion?
    Russ

    Hello Russ
Cisco uses the concept of a running configuration and startup configuration. The running config is stored in RAM and is lost if powered down. This way you can program and test something and if you are locked out of the device due to mistake, you can power cycle the device to go back to the previous configuration.
On your Cisco SG200 switch, please go into the web configuration and you should see a flashing "Save" at the top right of your screen. Hit this and then you will be taken to the file copy portion where you will copy the "Running-Config" to the "Startup-Config". This will permanently save your config.
If the "Save" is not there, please go under "Admin" on the left and Copy / File section and copy the Running Config to the Startup-Config.

  • A rugged switch that can support PoE+ on 4 ports

We are mounting 4 Access points in a parking Lott. We have wired up a cat6 cable to each AP (not power). The cat6 cables are terminated in a weather resistant outdoor box.
My question is: Does Cisco have at rouged switch that can support this setup?
The plan was to use a IE2000. However the IE-2000-16PTC-G-L that we purchased, did not deliver enough power on each port (it can deliver PoE on 4 ports, but only PoE+ on 2) My fault that I did not read the PDF thoroughly enough :-(
So question is, does cisco have a rugged switch that can deliver PoE+ on 4 ports?

I believe you'd have to move up to the IE3000 series with the 8-port module (Cisco IEM-3000-4PC-4TC=). That module will deliver POE+ on 4 of its 8 ports. Reference.

cisco 1900 switch support vtp version2 and etherchannel or not?
    Please help and reference.
    Thank in advance

    Hello,
Fast Etherchannel is supported on 1900 switches.
Please refer the below URL for details:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/28201900/1928v9x/ee_scg/overview.htm#xtocid72765
I "think" you need to have Enterprise Edition Software. In case if you have a standard version, then you need to purchase the upgrade kit to upgrade to enterprise version.
As far as I know, VTP V2 is not supported on the 1900.
By the way, 1900 swiches are End of Sale and the last date of support is July, 2007.

  • Aironet 1100 / 802.3af Power Over Ethernet (POE) Support

I was under the impression that the Aironet 1100 supports 802.3af POE. I purchased a NetGear FS108P POE switch, however, when I plug in the 1100, it does not receive any power.
I have seen references in the documentation to a Cisco inline power injector and a Cisco Catalyst switch that can provide POE to the 1100 and maybe they will work, however, will the 1100 only work with those devices?? If so, it would seem that the 1100 really doesn't support the 802.3af standard and that Cisco's implementation of POE is proprietary.
    Any input would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Michael,
    As you have discovered (unfortunately) is that the 1100 only supports Cisco Pre-standard PoE :( Have a look;
Single 802.11g radio offering 54 Mbps of capacity
2.4 GHz integrated diversity dipole antennas
Available in an autonomous version only
16 MB of memory with 8 MB of storage
Operating temperature range of 32 to 104?F (0 to 40?C)
    **Inline power support (Cisco pre-standard)**
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps4570/prod_brochure0900aecd8035a015.html
The good news is that either of the options you listed will work just fine. I would go for the power injector probably just for neatness sake.
    POWERING OPTIONS
The Cisco Aironet 1100 Series can be powered either locally using the AC-DC power adapter, or over the Ethernet cable when coupled with a device capable of delivering in-line power, such as an in-line power-capable Cisco Catalyst? switch, Catalyst in-line power patch panel, or Cisco Aironet Power Injector.
The AC-DC power adapter is included with the access point and can also be ordered as a spare part. The Cisco Aironet Power Injector can either be configured to the order or can be ordered separately.
    You can use either;
    AIR-PWR-A= Cisco Aironet Power Supply-Input 110-240VAC, Output 48VDC, 380 mA-for 1100 and 1200 Series
AIR-PWRINJ3= Cisco Aironet Power Injector for the 1100 and 1200 Series Access Points
    From this doc;

  • Cisco sg200 voice vlan dhcp issue

i have cisco sg200 50p connected to cisco 3750 switch. i just wanted to separate voice (vlan2) and data (vlan1) VLANS. I created vlan 2 as my voice VLAN and separate dhcp server for vlan 2 to give ip addresses to phones. however the ip phone connected to my voice vlan (vlan 2) is not receiving ip address from my dhcp server in vlan 2.
the dhcp server is connected to 3750 switch with an access port (vlan2-voice)
two switches are connected via trunk ports and allowed vlan 1&2
ip phone is connected to sg200 via access port (vlan 2) -
note - there is no pc connected to ip phone
I really appreciate if anyone can help me with this issue

    Hi Tom
Thank you for the support. The phone is now getting the IP from the DHCP on its own VLAN (vlan2 )  according to  your configuration. However i need to configure the auto voice VLAN based on OUI feature which is in SG200 switch.
The problem is, the switch not allowed me to configure auto voice vlan feature when the port connected to IP phone is in ACCESS mode (it has to be a trunk). I know according to cisco catlyst guidelines this is totally incorrect bcz they say  "Voice VLAN is only supported on access ports and not on trunk ports, even though the configuration is allowed"
I think its not valid for Small business switches . Anyway, when i make the said port  TRUNK it works (by assigning 1U & 2T- automatically). But the phone does not  get an IP address from my DHCP server then.
Can you help me with this if I am missing some configuration. Thank you once again

  • [Cisco SG200-50] VTP domain/vlans not assigned to client

    Hi All,
I have a question regarding the Cisco SG200-50 50 ports switch.
My  core switch is a cisco 3560, which handles the VLANS. I have a couple  of cisco 2960 switches, and my clients receive the right vlan  information(192.168.4.x on VLAN 4) on them. However, if i try to  configure the SG200-50 with VLAN information, my clients won't receive  the right VLAN IP. They only receive a 192.168.0.x address, while I  configured the interface to receive a 192.168.4.x address, which is  VLAN4.
I  am looking in the configuration of my switches, and i can't find any  option to put the SG200-50 in my VTP domain. Am I missing something  here?
I hope someone can help me!
    Kind Regards

I too faced the same problem but no one is helping in this regards.

  • FC-2GB module part number for cisco 4503 switch

    Dear Sir,
We hv a SAN switch MDS-9216 with FC-2GB ports.
We want to connect the SAN switch to our newly installed cisco 4503 switch which modules is required in the cisco 4503 switch to connect the SAN switch FC-2GB ports.
    Regards
    Deepak

    Deepak,
Can you explain why you want to do this?
The Catalyst 4503 is an ethernet switch and does not support FC-2G interfaces. If you want to enable IP access to your storage, you would need an IP storage services module in your MDS 9216. This would then provide GE interfaces which you could connect to your Catalyst 4503. You could then provide IP-based hosts access to FC-connected storage using iSCSI for instance.
    Regards
    Rob.

    Hi,
Back to forum after a long time. I have one issue to discuss regarding cisco 6001 switch. We purchased a new 6001 switch. Want to convert some of the Ethernet ports out of total 48 to FC to join the switch into a existing fabric.

In the past, we have quite a few Cisco 5548UP switch and the way convert the Ethernet port into FC port is, by going to correct slot/module and then
    (config)# slot 1
    (config-slot)# port 41-48 type fc
Then "reload" willl complete the conversion. But in the new 6001 switch, it throws the following error when above command is typed. We have full license for the switch including  FC_FEATURES_PKG

We are running firmware : 6.0(2)N2(2)

  • Configuration Cisco SG200 livebox 2 NAS

    Bonjour

This is kind of a wild guess, but I think your expectation is incorrect.  As I understand, the qos mechanism in the switch will only take effect if there is congestion or some metric has been met.  In the scenario you describe there is no reason to reorder or drop any packets.
During periods with light traffic, that is, when no congestion exists, packets are sent out the interface as soon as they arrive. During periods of transmit congestion at the outgoing interface, packets arrive faster than the interface can send them. If you use congestion management features, packets accumulating at an interface are queued until the interface is free to send them; they are then scheduled for transmission according to their assigned priority and the queueing mechanism configured for the interface. The router determines the order of packet transmission by controlling which packets are placed in which queue and how queues are serviced with respect to each other.
