Cisco sg200 voice vlan dhcp issue

i have cisco sg200 50p connected to cisco 3750 switch. i just wanted to separate voice (vlan2) and data (vlan1) VLANS. I created vlan 2 as my voice VLAN and separate dhcp server for vlan 2 to give ip addresses to phones. however the ip phone connected to my voice vlan (vlan 2) is not receiving ip address from my dhcp server in vlan 2.
the dhcp server is connected to 3750 switch with an access port (vlan2-voice)
two switches are connected via trunk ports and allowed vlan 1&2
ip phone is connected to sg200 via access port (vlan 2) -
note - there is no pc connected to ip phone
I really appreciate if anyone can help me with this issue

Hi Tom
Thank you for the support. The phone is now getting the IP from the DHCP on its own VLAN (vlan2 )  according to  your configuration. However i need to configure the auto voice VLAN based on OUI feature which is in SG200 switch.
The problem is, the switch not allowed me to configure auto voice vlan feature when the port connected to IP phone is in ACCESS mode (it has to be a trunk). I know according to cisco catlyst guidelines this is totally incorrect bcz they say  "Voice VLAN is only supported on access ports and not on trunk ports, even though the configuration is allowed"
I think its not valid for Small business switches . Anyway, when i make the said port  TRUNK it works (by assigning 1U & 2T- automatically). But the phone does not  get an IP address from my DHCP server then.
Can you help me with this if I am missing some configuration. Thank you once again

  • RV220W second vlan DHCP issue

    Hi all,
    I have a Cisco RV220W router (firmware version 1.0.4.17).
I would like to have two separate networks with the following specifications:
Netwrork1: address range for the network is 192.168.0.1-254. All devices should be able to reach eachother within this network and connect to the internet either on LAN or through Wifi. From this network I should also be able to reach the device management page of the router. Also the devices should get the ip addresses throgh DHCP.
Network2: address range for the network is 192.168.5.1-254. All devices within this network should not be able to reach the devices in network1. All devices on this network should reach the internet through Wifi only. Device management page should not be available on this network.
I have configured the router as shown in the attached screenshots but the problem is that in Network2, devices get IPs from the 192.168.0.1-254 range and not from the 192.168.5.1-254 range. Also there is no internet on these either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Passing voice and data Vlans on Cisco SG200-08P help

    Hello All,
I'm struggling with a configuration issue on the Cisco SG200-08P.
We are using the Cisco SG200-08P on a mobile cart that will go from class room to class room that will have computer and cisco Voip phone plugged into it. The issue is that each of our closets are in differnt VLANS ( 1 voice and 1 data....lets say data vlan 20 and voice vlan 2025 for conversation) and that we route to each closet.
It would be great if I could just create a generic data and voice vlan to dynamically pick up what the upstream switch has however, it seems that I've been unsuccessful in doing so.
So far I can pass the data Vlan no probablem. The upstream switch port is set to access port and a switch port access voice vlan (these are 3750x switches)
If the above is not possible I guess I will take what I can get. Should I just create data vlan 20 and voice vlan2025 on the Cisco SG200-08P and make a trunk port on the Cisco SG200-08P and a trunk on the 3750x? Is there an option on the Cisco SG200-08P to tag voice traffic?
I'm also concerned with VTP and I did not see an area in the Cisco SG200-08P to set that as a client and transparent mode.
    Thanks for any help,
    Dan

On a Catalyst switch, when a port is defined as a trunk without a vlan specified on the port, all vlan pass through the port. On a small business switch it is nearly the opposite. You must specify the vlans on the links. Additionally, ingress filter discards anything not associated to the port.
802.1q specifies there must be an untagged vlan which is the native vlan (of course you can make exceptions, tagging the default vlan..).
One thing I did in the past with a 2960, I made an LLDP network policy and it basically "provisioned" the downstream switch connecting link and voice vlan. That may be another idea for you.

  • DHCP and voice vlan on Cisco 3560 switch

    Greetings,
I'm setting up a Cisco 3560 switch for voice and data comms. I'm looking for documentation with best practice guidelines for the following requirements.
    1. Using the Cisco 3560 as a DHCP server - Config examples.  Do I need to use different subnets for the voice and data vlans?
    2. Layer 2 CoS QoS  - I'm connecting Aastra phones as well as notebooks - I've been told that Aastra also makes use of the voice vlan config through LLDP and that Aastra phones supports CDP.
    Your assistance will be appreciated.

    Hi ,
Cisco recommends that you have a separate vlan for  voice and data with different ip subnets for voice and data. You will need to configure the dhcp pool accordingly.
Here is the config guide for setting up IOS DHCP server:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_0t/12_0t1/feature/guide/Easyip2.html
Here is the LAN qos recommendations:

Dude, look at your DHCP exclude on your router.
It is supposed to be low/high IP.
So basicly you told the router to exclude IP address from 10.146.54.1 to 10.146.89.5.
This means that DHCP will not hand out 10.146.54.1 through 10.146.89.5
    try
    ip dhcp excluded-address 10.146.54.1 10.146.54.15
    Hope this helps.
Also, I know this is years ago but thought I would throw that out there.

  • Cisco 300 - VLAN DHCP packets not passing

I am seeing a problem with our Cisco 300 switches. We use these switches as access switches, with a stacked 3750-G at the core, two 2960-S at the distribution layer, and about 10 300 Series switches at the access layer (10 port and 28 ports, all PoE).
We use Voice VLAN (VLAN 14) for our Mitel phones – there is a DHCP server on the Mitel system. Phones come up, get tagged VLAN 14 (LLDP), Traffic flows (including Broadcast for DHCP etc…). The system works, and has worked for months.
One day, suddenly, I find that all the Mitel phones on a particular access switch are not working. I look on the Mitel system and the lease on DHCP has expired, and the phone is stuck on renewing its DHCP IP address. I run port mirroring on the switch for VLAN 14 to see what is happening. The phones are stuck on DHCP discover, and I see the DHCP Discover broadcast packets on the switch but nothing else, no DHCP offer packets – hence the phone stuck at boot cycle.
I then do a port mirror from another access switch (that is currently working) – I can see the broadcast packets from the Mitel phones on the broken switch, but on this switch I can also see the DHCP offer packets from the Mitel system. I run two port mirrors simultaneous from the two switches (one working, one not) and I can see that the DHCP offer packets are not coming through to the broken switch. Panic ensues – I look at the distribution layer and there is no problem what so ever.
For some strange reason, the Cisco 300 28 port has stopped passing DHCP broadcast packets on a particular VLAN, even though they are being sent. I power cycle the switch – and hey presto, DHCP offer packets are coming through, and the phones get an IP address and boot properly.
I wipe the sweat off my brow, note the issue down and carry on my daily duties.
Forward a couple of weeks later, and to today. I have another phone that is showing the same symptoms, luckily it is the only phone on this particular Cisco 300 28 port. The same issue is occurring as described above. I gather as much diagnostic information I can then reboot the switch – but still no joy. I then remember that this switch is not directly attached to the distribution layer and instead gets trunked to another Cisco 300 28 port. I give that a reboot and 5 minutes later, DHCP broadcast offers are passing and the phone boots.
I am listing this problem as not just a ‘one off’ now, and is recurring. It has happened to two of my 300 28 port switches.
    All Switches running 1.1.2.0.
No link to up time – first instance of the problem, switch was up for 14 days – second instance (another switch) uptime of 39 days
LLDP is working fine on the switches, as is Voice-VLAN (Port is tagged and broadcasts out DHCP Discover which is seen by other devices throughout network)
Nothing in the log file on the access switch
Nothing on the Dist/Core regarding STP – Spanning tree set up is fine throughout
Has anyone else experienced same? I’m hoping this is a bug that is getting fixed.
    Many Thanks
    Tim

    Hello Tim
    Brayton Hackworth had a similar post as yours, found here;
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/3684179#3684179
Brayton is using the Mitel 5330 phones where the LLDP no longer fed VLAN information to the phone network. But, he reverted to use a DHCP server to provide the VLAN information.
Unfortunately, I (personally) cannot test any Mitel resources (since I don't have them) so my labs usually only consist of either 7900 series or SPA500/900 series phones.
    The best thing I can really recommend to you is to make a package of data consisting of;
    Topology which consists of;
    Modem type
    Router including IP
All devices including IP of switches
    Servers / relevant workstations
    # of attached devices and # of users on the LAN
Switch config file + show tech on a notepad
    Syslog output from the switch
    Working PCAP
    PCAP showing failure
PCAP legend showing what IP address are who (unless topology contains all IP)
Where the PCAP is taken from and method
We then can create a service request for you and pass it for review.

  • Cisco voice vlans w/ nortel VOIP system

    Hello everyone,
I am going to segment a network with a Nortel VOIP system. Right now, the network is completely flat with PCs plugged into the back of the nortel phones. I would like to set up a voice vlan for the nortel phones but am not sure if voice vlans will work w/ non-cisco phones (cdp). Please provide me some insight if you can. Thanks!

If your are Using Recent Cisco Switches it is quite easy.
Using 4006 SUP III core switches or 3560 PSE's should be okay.
If you have Nortel Phase II phones they can also be powered by the 802.3 cisco switches with no probs.
Anyway set the switchport mode to switchport voice vlan. Set spanning tree portfast and configure qos as you see fit on the port. Configure the voice vlan on the switch eg switchport voice vlan 111. You may need to configure the port to switchport mode dynamic desriable as well. Some older switches may have problems but you can enable trunking to cheat and then a default vlan for the pc on the switchport
As regards to the phones when the phone reboots and you enter the configuration mode via flipping the 4 soft keys. You should then see the vlan option and configure the same vlan number on the phone as the cisco switch eg 111.
The phone should then register again without any problems. All i2002/i2004 firmware for last 2 years has the vlan option. I looked after about 400 nortel phones all on cisco switches of various ages with only minor setting up issues.
    Best of luck
    Simon

  • Window DHCP Server is not allocting IP to Voice Vlan

    Hi,
I HAVE 3560 Switch, Over that two vlan configure Data & Voice respectively. Voice id Vlan 1 and Data Id Vlan 2.Routing is done on this switch and work as L3
DHCP Server is member of Data Vlan which is connected to another 3560 Switch L2. DHCP Server is reachable. On that both vlan configured.
Switch Port configure fr both Vlan ( Switchport access vlan 2 , Switchport voice vlan 1, Switchport mode access)
WHILE Connect any pc to port DHCP server assign ip frm Data Pool while Cisco Ip phones are not getting IP. OPTION 150 is configured in DHCP.
Over both interface IP Helper is configured and pointing to DHCP Server.
For testing point configure DHCP service on switch with voice pool range ;at that moment Cisco IP phone got the IP fron switch DHCP.
Now not able to understand why window dhcp server not assigning ip for Voice.
Both Vlan are in different subnet and having / 24.
    Please guide

    Hi,
Checked all configuration in network, apply packet tracer and found DHCP not responding on DHCP Req.
Replace DHCP server and now working fine.   :)

  • DHCP issues with Cisco WAP 321

I have 4 Cisco WAP 321's in my office connected to our Cisco 2911 ISR for DHCP, everything is fine on the office wifi on vlan 1 but vlan 3 with the guest wifi network it fails to obtain an IP address. I have tried under each of the WAPs to make sure it wasnt just the one nearest my desk. I was on the phone yesterday with Cisco about this and we turned on debugging and watched the DHCP requests and no requests even hit the ISR (only thing I have smartnet support on). I noticed our firmware was a few versions old so updated that this morning but still have the same issues so now I am turning to you all to help me figure this out.

  • 802.1X dyanmic VLAN assignment DHCP issue (Vista client)

I am labbing dynamic VLAN assignment and have run into a small problem.  The switchport is succesfully changing to the new VLAN, but my test PC seems to get an IP address in the native data VLAN before being moved to the new dynamic assigned VLAN.  So when the switch changes the VLAN the PC keeps its old IP address and nothing talks any more.
Is this a Vista issue?  I thought all of these problems were just issues in XP?  Do I need to tweak any interface dot1x timers?
(Cat3750 with 12.2.55 / ACS5.1.  Everything else is running fine by the way.)

if i do a show run on the switchport the config hasnt changed, but i dont expect it to, as its not a permanent config change that you would want to be saved by a different admin user saving the config.  You can see the debug report it is changing the VLAN:

as well as checking with the show int switchport command and it is in v12 which is the dynamically assigned vlan
DHCP server is the cat3750 for all local VLANs

  • Cisco Layer 3, Voice, & VLAN

I have a vSphere 5.5 install and I'm in the process of a network upgrade in preparation for a VOIP implementation.  The Switch hardware I'm using is a stack of Cisco 3850 Layer 3 switches and I've been going in circles on getting vlan traffic to work correctly.  Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
I have one NIC connected to the switch (10GB fiber) that will handle all traffic for the esxi host (except for management).  VLAN ID is set to None (0) and load balancing is set to Route based on originating virtual port.
    I have 2 subnets, 10.1.0.0/16 (data & management, VLAN 1) and 10.10.1.0/24 (Voice, VLAN 10)
On the host I have a Win 2012 R2 server that will be a VOIP PBX host.  It must be able to communicate with the IP phones (VLAN 10) and other servers (VLAN 1).
The switches will do the intervlan routing.
Finally my question - Can anyone give me some hints on how to set up the interface on the Cisco for the 10GB fiber connection from my host?  Actual port settings would be extremely helpful.  Anything I'm doing at the vmware end that I should be doing differently?

In case anyone comes across this in a search, here's what I ended up with, 1st the Cisco switch:
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,10
    switchport mode trunk
    switchport nonegotiate
    switchport voice vlan 10
    macro description cisco-switch

  • About SRW224G4P Voice vlan issue

    Hi,
I've configured the SRW as many vlan, use vlan 212 for voice, 348 for data and connect with cisco IP Phone.
    vlan database
    vlan 210-216,345-348
    exit
    voice vlan id 212
    interface fastethernet1
     storm-control broadcast enable
     storm-control broadcast level 10
     storm-control include-multicast
     port security max 10
     port security mode max-addresses
     port security discard trap 60
     spanning-tree portfast
switchport trunk allowed vlan add 212
     switchport trunk native vlan 348
     macro description ip_phone_desktop
     !next command is internal.
     macro auto smartport dynamic_type ip_phone_desktop
but when I show voice vlan,
    it shows:
    =====================================
    1ASW01#show voice vlan
Administrate Voice VLAN state is auto-triggered
Operational Voice VLAN state is auto-enabled

I don't know why vlan 216 become the voice vlan ?
I've tried the modified the macro build-in parameters,
    macro auto built-in parameters ip_phone $native_vlan 348
    macro auto built-in parameters ip_phone_desktop $native_vlan 348
but system could not modify $voice_vlan value.
    how to fix it ?

    Hi Skywings,
So I am guessing the above output is after the change, right? If this is true it looks like something went wrong during the configuration process. Auto Voice VLAN process has two main phases where the first one is related to communication between switches and other Cisco infrastructure devices and synchronizing the Voice VLAN ID. The second phase is related to identifying the end device as phone. What I can see in your case that the first phase is failing somehow since the voice VLAN ID is different than locally configured. Can you share with me your running and also startup config plus CDP neighbours? You may use private message.
    Regards,
    Aleksandra

  • 302-08MP Voice Vlan issue

    Hi,
I have a 302-08Mp attached to my network, it is plugged directly into a C3560G, however when i plug a phone into this switch i get a 'configuring ip' message up on the phone. The voice vlan is set identical to the 3560 but in the logs i get an error message stating
%CDP-W-VOICE_VLAN_MISMATCH: voice VLAN mismatch detected on interface gi1.
Can anyone help me solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance

  • Passing Voice VLAN through a non-Cisco switch

    Hi All,
Will a non-Cisco switch (no 802.1q support) that is putted beetween Cisco IP Telephone and Cisco Catalyst switch (which is configured with auxilary Voice Vlan) pass voice vlan frames and CDP?

Any switch should pass on either ISL(which is cisco properitary and hence not supported on non-Cisco) or IEEE 802.1Q frames or else it cannot support voice vlan support . And non-Cisco switches do not support CDP as it is once again Cisco proprietary protocol.

  • [Cisco SG200-50] VTP domain/vlans not assigned to client

    Hi All,
I have a question regarding the Cisco SG200-50 50 ports switch.
My  core switch is a cisco 3560, which handles the VLANS. I have a couple  of cisco 2960 switches, and my clients receive the right vlan  information(192.168.4.x on VLAN 4) on them. However, if i try to  configure the SG200-50 with VLAN information, my clients won't receive  the right VLAN IP. They only receive a 192.168.0.x address, while I  configured the interface to receive a 192.168.4.x address, which is  VLAN4.
I  am looking in the configuration of my switches, and i can't find any  option to put the SG200-50 in my VTP domain. Am I missing something  here?
I hope someone can help me!
    Kind Regards

I too faced the same problem but no one is helping in this regards.
Does CISCO SG200-50 Port Gigabit Smart Switch provide support for VTP or Not. If not how we can make it a VTP client and how it will forward its VLAN information to VTP Server in VTP Domain in which it is connected.
    Thanks
