  • Cisco Small Business Pro Switch pricing...

As a very long time Linksys user I am not totally unhappy that the Linksys name is no longer part of the product designation.
We provide IT management and support to many SME businesses. Part of our management functions on behalf of our clients is to ensure value for money. From a Linksys aspect, in the past this meant a trade-off between value (low-cost - a Linksys benefit) and reliability and stability.
On the one hand, we continuously had to monitor and test firmware upgrades before implementation. On the other hand we have many clients still running netwrok VPNs on 6 year old BEFVP41 units with no outages at all due to the equipment...
With this experience in mind, we are anticipating that the Small Business Pro equipment is likely to be fully specified and tested, for which we will gladly recommend to our clients the higher prices commensurate with that reliability and stability.
From this perspective, we have tested the SA520 and the AP541N and the initial results are favorable - they appear to be an improvement on the Linksys RVS4000 and the RV042. Pricing is higher, but not exorbitantly so.
When looking at the switch pricing, however, I was unimpressed to find that the 24 port Gigabit switch is north of $1,300 - amost 3 times the price of the SRW2024.
I realize that pricing is a corporate decision by Cisco - and I have no doubt that they do not want to have their Small Business Pro series cannibalizing the corporate switch sales. However, we cannot recommend this to client management as it is excessive. Given that we set the standards for all of our clients (and ALL of our clients are currently using LInksys products as an exclusive standard - we do not permit any other networking equipment), our choice is difficult:
Do we stick with the Cisco Small Business Pro for the WAN aspects of client networks and evaluate other vendors for the LAN elements?
Given that we have been badly burned by both Linksys One and Microsoft ResponsePoint, we specifically no longer specify IP voice systems by network vendors, so any infrastructure-specific advantages in this regard are not an issue.
    Any other perspectives on this?

The Small Business Pro ESW 500 Switches actually differ from their Linksys and Cisco Small Business counterparts by these features:
Better interoperability with Cisco and Cisco Small Business Pro products
    Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP)
    EtherChannel
Cisco Configuration Assistant configurability and manageability
Integration with the Cisco Smart Business Communication System (SBCS) solution
Smartport roles for easy configuration of switchports, both in the ESW Web GUI and in the Cisco Configuration Assistant program
Ability to connect Cisco Unified IP Phones into an ESW switch as part of a SBCS deployment
ESW 500 switches have a higher level of support than the Linksys and Small Business counterparts because Cisco Small Business Pro Service is offered on the ESW 500 switches
The ESW 500 Web GUI is actually similar to the GUI found on the Linksys and Cisco Small Business counterparts. ESW 500 might actually be a better option with the SA500 because:
CCA 2.2(1) and later can manage the SA500, the AP541N, and the ESW 500 switches, even if they are deployed outside of the SBCS solution.
Cisco Small Business Pro Service is available on ESW switches, but not on Linksys or Cisco Small Business products

    Hi Marcelo,
Yes, there are some requirements for certificates in Expressway.
    Expressway Core (Exp-C)
    - Can be signed by either External or Internal CA
    - Better to use a cluster name even if you start with 1 peer in Exp-C cluster. In the future, if more peers are added, changes would be minimal.
    - Better to use FQDN of cluster as CN of certificate, this way the traversal zone configuration on Expressway-E won't require any change even if new peers are added to Exp-C cluster.
    - If CUCM is mixed mode, include security profile names (in FQDN format) as Subject Alternate Names
    - The Chat Node Aliases that are configured on the IM and Presence servers. They will be required only for Unified Communications XMPP federation deployments that intend to use both TLS and group chat. (Note that Unified Communications XMPP federation will be supported in a future Expressway release). The Expressway-C automatically includes the chat node aliases in the CSR, providing it has discovered a set of IM&P servers.
    - For TLS b/w CUCM, IM-P & Exp-C
+ If using self-signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Cisco Tomcat, cup, cup-xmpp certificates from IM-P on Exp-C. Load callmanager, Cisco Tomcat certificates from CUCM on Exp-C.
+ If using Internal CA signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Root CA certificates on Exp-C.
      + Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, cup-trust, cup-xmpp-trust on IM-P.
+ Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, callmanager-trust on CUCM.
    Expressway Edge (Exp-E)
    - Signed by External CA
    - Configured Unified Communications domain as Subject Alternate Name
    - If using a cluster, select FQDN of this peer as CN and FQDN of Cluster + this peer as Subject Alternate Name.
    - If XMPP federation is being deployed, enter the same Chat Node Aliases as entered in Exp-C.

  • Project Report in FIORI Smart Business

    Hello,
I'm facing a problem in the Project Report in FIORI Smart Business Application. My problem is i can't visualize the progression of my project in the progress bar of this application. All other progress bar works fine.
Are there any missing configuration in the ECC / KPI Workspace ?
Where can we visualize the project progression in the back-end ?
    Followed configuration setting :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_hba/helpdata/en/F8/964353A7ACE547E10000000A441470/content.htm
    I thank you in advance.

Use SAP_KPIFRW_TC_R role (I think you already did).
However, to be able to access this catalog, the HANA user needs the role sap.hba.apps.kpi.s.roles::SAP_SMART_BUSINESS_RUNTIME
If the user has to model KPIs, they need sap.hba.apps.kpi.s.roles::SAP_SMART_BUSINESS_MODELER.

  • Multiple HANA systems connection for Smart Business Fiori Apps

    Hi Experts,
I could configure and run standard Fiori apps through launchpad and able to configure all type of Fiori apps through web dispature and single HANA system1 [retail]
As per the recommendation from SAP, we have separate HANA system2 for finance.
Now here is the tricky part.
I have added HANA system2 in web dispature. Also I have the trusted connection in my front end gateway server for transactional apps.
Transactional apps from HANA system2 db is working fine. Now, I would like to configure Finance related Analytical apps from HANA system2 views. For this I am not able to get KPI IDs for evaluation and drill-down configuration.
The path for Smart Business KPI modeler in both the HANA systems are same. Is this causing issue to bring KPI IDs and HANA views into modeler?
How to get both views in single KPI modeler tool to configure the KPI tiles?
Please let me know how to proceed?
    Thanks!
    Praveen.

  • Invalid configuration for catalog/Web dispatcher (Fiori Smart Business Cockpit)

    Hi all,
For our smart business cockpits, we have following issue in our administration (launchpad):
    Invalid configuration for catalog/Web dispatcher
    Title
SAP: KPI Catalog for SAP Smart Business
    ID
    X-SAP-REMOTE:SAP_KPIFRW_TC_R
    Remote ID
    HANA_CATALOG
    System alias
    HANA
    Base URL
    /sap/hba/apps/kpi/s/odata/hana_chip_catalog.xsodata/
    Type
    REMOTE
When I check our console client, the only error that we see is following message:
    2014-08-04 14:33:16 Base URL '/sap/hba/apps/kpi/s/odata/hana_chip_catalog.xsodata' already registered - sap.ui2.srvc.Factory
Does someone already saw this issue before? I noticed that we only have those issues on REMOTE CATALOGS.
    Thx!

  • Does the FPM can be integrated with smart business?

    Hi,colleagues
There is a system solution like this:
The data maintain and calculation is done in FPM applications (SAP ECC), while the data analysis is displayed in Smart Business (SAP HANA).
So comes to the question: In the FPM applications, does the smart business can be presented for end-users? otherwise end-users have to open the smart business in launchpad.
    Thanks a lot in advance!
    Best regards,
    Daniel

There are few third party Addons for "Project Management" for SAP B1.
There is an Addon called 'ICON' from Xenolith Technologies, Calcutta, India.

  • SAP Fiori Smart Business apps

    Hello Masa,
Can you share some details  on SAP Fiori Smart Business apps ?
We are looking Smart Business apps for Inventory management – Can you please get the components/any other requirements for getting this installed ?
else could you redirect us to any url or documentation ?
    Thanks,
    Usha

    Hello Jamie,
Yes, went through the help documentation and reached the Analytical apps documentation.
Above screenshot is on the Analytical deployment option ,where we get to see the KPI Framework setup with the HANA XS Engine setup. If i am not wrong the Analytical apps and the SAP Smart Business apps share the setup of HANA XS engine and KPI Framework only (in Smart Business Apps).
So would like to confirm if the below installation link steps remain the same for SAP Smart Business apps too!
    Installation :
    http://help.sap.com/fiori_bs2013/helpdata/en/f3/8f4552c474b610e10000000a44176d/content.htm?frameset=/en/5f/fc1f533f86ef28e10000000a4450e5/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/6b/966753a4834e3fe10000000a441470/plain.htm&node_id=73
After which i guess we need to be following the KPI modeler on Front- End server and the respective SAP Smart  Business Products  on SAP HANA server.
    Many thanks!
    Thanks,
    Usha

  • What is Cisco-Atlanta IPTV architecture?

    Hello All.
I want to ask what is the Cisco-Atlanta IPTV architecture?, in other word what is main components(H.W & S.W),because I perform a lot of search and I can't gain any thing.
    Waiting urs replies,,,,,,,,
    Thanks a lot.

Please see https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2270865?tstart=0 where you get answers to all of your questions
    1. what is the difference between a "Service Profile" and Virtual machine? Are they both different names of same concept?
NO, not at all, a SP is a new concept, introduced with UCS architecture; it allows you to abstract the hardware of a server. It defines a template and/or a logical server: eg. number of vhba's, number of vnics, mac address pwwn/nwwn, BIOS version, boot policy/boot order. The values of mac, pwwn, nwwn, UUID are taken out of predefined pools, therefore they are hardware independent. Then you associate a SP with a physical blade, which then imposes all the above configuration on the real physical server. The relationship between SP and physical server is 1 to 1; if you need 10 ESXi servers, you need 10 SP's.
UCS is OS agnostic, it has no clue what the installed OS is. Therefore in UCS there are no OS specific agents.
VM appear in the context of server virtualization, and are completely different from SP.
    see also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YGJlP2q5Go
    2. What is the concept behind virtual switch? Is it used to connect VMs or Service Profiles? If it is so, is it installed on a server over a VM/SP or something else?
Each hypervisor (Hyper-v, ESXi, Xen,...) is using a virtual switch (software); it is required to locally switch traffic between 2 VM's on the same physical host. VM's connect to the virtual switch.
    3. I would appreciate if somebody could share a logical diagram showing overall concept of integrated service profile, virtual switch, VNIC, vEth, blade servers, etc.

  • SOA Practitioners Opinion on Business Architecture

    Abstract:
As Enterprises are starting to adopt Services-Oriented Architecture,
they are currently in the process of transforming both their Business
and IT organizations. In this context there has been a discussion on
the topic of Business Architecture with a basic consensus that
Business architecture is the link between business and technology (or
IT) but there isn't any clear definition of the roles and
responsibilities of this position. Nor is there clear descriptions of
the practical aspects of what exactly are the Business Architect's
activities and how should enterprises get started with this function.
The objective of this paper to help clarify these points from a
practitioner's point of view as well as help organization kick-start
    the Business Architecture function.

    Hi Yogish,
    Please go through this link.
    http://entarch.blogspot.com/2007/12/soa-consortium-keynote-by-amit-sinha.html
    SOA and Business Architecture
One area where SOA has been gaining ground is in its power as a mechanism for defining business services[26] and operating models and thus provide a structure for IT to deliver against the actual business requirements and adapt in a similar way to the business. The purpose of using SOA as a business mapping tool is to ensure that the services created properly represent the business view and are not just what technologists think the business services should be. At the heart of SOA planning is the process of defining architectures for the use of information in support of the business, and the plan for implementing those architectures [27]. Enterprise Business Architecture should always represent the highest and most dominant architecture. Every service should be created with the intent to bring value to the business in some way and must be traceable back to the business architecture.
Within this area, SOMA (service-oriented modeling and architecture) was announced by IBM as the first publicly announced SOA-related methodology in 2004. Since then, efforts have been made to move towards greater standardization and the involvement of business objectives, particularly within the OASIS standards group and specifically the SOA Adoption Blueprints group. All of these approaches take a fundamentally structured approach to SOA, focusing more on the Services and Architecture elements and leaving implementation to the more technically focused standards. Another pertinent example is SAP Enterprise Services Architecture, which is focused on a strict governance process and the use of semantics to improve the usefulness of services in business process innovation.

I think this will help you.

  • Cisco WVC2300 Business Internet Video Camera I/O ports power lights on/off ?

What is needed to make it possible to enable the Cisco WVC2300 Business Internet Video Camera to use it's I/O ports to power lights on/off ?

Talking to our Development team. They replied to me with this.
Depends on the device the camera is connected to, if it's some sort of a transistor or a relay then it shouldn't be a problem. Think of the camera as a simple relay, all it does is turn on and off, so if you need to turn on and off a light you'll need to limit the switch device in such a way that the connection from the camera to the device does not exceed the output voltage requirement on the camera (If they remember correctly 24V.2A).
    I hope this helps.
I believe any of our authorized resellers might have kits or equipment that can help with this.

  • Accounting on a Cisco Small Business SF300-08

    Hello,
The "Cisco Small Business 300 Series Managed Switches Administration Guide" and the data sheet indicate that this switch can do accounting requests with a Radius server. On the SF300 switch interface/CLI, there is only the authentication port, the accounting port can not be set (and nothing is sent by the switch to the default port). I suppose that the SF300-08 does not handle accounting. Maybe I have to change for another model. Could you give me another model in the same range price ?
    Thanks,
    Laurent.

Hello Laurent, I am pleased the 1.2.5.70 has resolved this issue.
Please keep advisory the 1.2.5.70 firmware has also been pulled for now.
Pease note we have identified a potential issue with the 1.2.5.70 update for the Series 200, 300, and 500 switches. As a precautionary measure, we have taken down the 1.2.5.70 release while we determine the cause of the issue, severity, and scope. We will either re-post the release or post an updated version depending on the outcome of our analysis.
