Cisco SRP 527W Restricting Bandwidth on one SSID

Hi, We have a Cisco SRP 527W. I have set up two SSID's one for our office use and one for our customers to check emails and surf the net. At the moment we are finding that some customers are streaming content and using too much bandwidth, using too much bandwidth. I have set up the second SSID as a guest, though cant work out how to limit bandwidth or if this is possible. I can find my way around settings and follow instructuctions - though do not have a strong grasp on the terminology/jargon thus would greatly appreciate any instructions/advice and if relevant referrerals to paid support contractors who can help me implement (remotely) if too difficult. Thanks very much!

Thanks for the reply Paolo , unfortunately I do not have access to the U model of that router to test with , however I can provide details from the router that is operating sucessfully on the line at present as well as posting information from the dsldiag page when we go back out and retest.
The line settings that are sucessfully in use at present with the other vendors router are as follows:

Strictly speaking, we only support a +/- 5% tollerance on the input power level.
We haven't tested the range you state, so can't say for sure whether there would be any negative impact if you were to try such a supply.

How to map two different subnets to one SSID

Hi Experts ,
we have two offices in same city at different location however we are planning to bring both the office at same location.
Now lets say site A has controller 5508 configured with 24 AP's with 10.10.10.x subnet for internal SSID and Site B which is shifting to Site A campus has different subnet ( 10.10.20.x ) for same SSID.
Site B has no controller since they had connection with H-reap and they were using different subnet for internal SSID ( 10.10.20.x ) .....
Now i need to add their AP's in Site A controller which will be extended wireless LAN however we would like to keep same subnet ( 10.10.20.x ) what Site B has for wireless clients which is really confusing me ....
I have already client subnet for site A with 10.10.10.x /24 subnet and nearly 200 users are already using this wireless client subnet....
How do i add their ( Site B ) subnet / 10.10.20.x with same SSID configured which is globally only one SSID ?
limitations :
I can not create new SSID for site B since same will be broadcasting even in Site A AP's
Is this possible to map one more subnet of site B to existing SSID with already different subnet ( 10.10.10.x ) ?
Your suggestions will be really helpful for me to go ahead and understand in better manner ...

Well first off, you need to bring that subnet over to site a without breaking any routing. Once you do that then sites B subnet will have a different vlan than site A of course. Now with both subnets working in site A, you create a dynamic interface on the WLC for that new subnet. Create an AP group for both sites, you can name it by vlan or by any name you want. Now in the ap group for site A, you define what SSID's you want and map the vlan to that ap groups. Then add sites A AP's to that group. You do this also for site B's AP's and map the SSID to the new subnet you brought over and move the AP's to that group. The APs from site B would have to be setup in local mode not hreap.

Router srp 527w logging capabilities

I have bought recently srp 527w router. I am using it with very simple network configuration at the moment, containing 2 laptops connected via ethernet ports on the same VLAN and ADSL connection. All is working fine except that I am unable to find proper logs. If I log in as admin user I can see Log page and there I can see some logs of the router but not the logs of the firewall. I would like to see blocked incoming connections for example.
I am also unable to find syslog support for logs. I would like to send firewall logs to my external syslog server. It would be hard to believe that this basic functionality is not available in cisco router. My 5 year old netgear router has this implemented.
Any help would be much appreciated. Otherwise I would be forced to send the router back.

It is possible to generate syslog messages from the SRP - although currently it's a little unusual for the SRP520. To enable, go to Voice > System, enter your syslog server IP and select the "3+Router" level to generate router messages.
The new SRP540 has this functionality available in the admin logs section. It also has a dedicated Firewall log too.

Best Practice "One SSID for everything"

Hello Guys,
we switched from ACS to ISE and now we want to have just two SSIDs for alle Business Needs:
I´m not sure if this is the right or best way to do it.
One SSID is for Guest Network and also for BYOD Registration.
The second SSID is for BYOD and Company Devices (LAptop ipad iphone....). But we have also cisco 7925g which should get and client cert and then also connect to that ssid. In the old setup it was an seperate SSID with CCKM enabled. Now because of campatibilty i had to disable cckm. Also the new SSId would have CLient band select enabled, which should be good for voice, right ?
With your expirience is it a good idea to but all clients in 1 SSID ?
Is Wireless Voice working fine without cckm ?
What is your recommendation for that setup regarding ssid and voice/video configuration specially 802.11 settings and CAC

A lot of vendors will suggest also to have one SSID if possible, but the rule of thumb is 3-4 max. The main issue is the differences required for specific WLAN's, which isn't just for Data and Voice, but you also have to look at mDNS, multicast, 802.11r, DTIM's, MFP, etc. You can combine all devices to use one, but all the features/setting will be the same, which isn't ideal all the time. There are attributes which you can set from ISE to push out to the WLC(s), but its the other unique values that you need to research and understand.

SRP 527w Firmware version 1.01.17

I have a “fleet” of SRP 527w modems, and all but one are running Firmware version 1.01.17. The one black seep is running 1.01.9 Firmware. I had some difficulty configuring the one with 1.01.9, as it was refusing to accept new /admin/config.xml files when initiated as a push from “curl”. It would though accept configuration if update was initiated in other ways.
I would prefer all modems in the Fleet to be running the same Firmware
Is version 1.01.17 Firmware available?

I had already visited the download centre and downloaded version 1.01.19, but 1.01.17 does not seem to be available there.
My preference would be to use 1.01.17 to keep the fleet consistent (without needing to reflash the lot, half of which are already on site).
If version 1.01.17 is not available could you please advise if there are any foreseeable problems if a http://192.168.15.1/admin/config.xml file taken from a 1.01.17 is then used to configure a unit with 1.01.19 version of the Firmware.

WLC 4402 assign multiple VLANs to one SSID

Is it possible to have one broadcasting SSID but clients seperated by, lets say say 7 different vlans in the WLC? For example- each floor would be seperated by its own vlan and dchp pool, but they all connect to one SSID in the controller. From what I just read it seems that each vlan would be assigned its own SSID?

Setup 2 x AIR-CAP2702E-Z-K9 - One SSID

HI,
Just bought the 2 units of AIR-CAP2702E-Z-K9. Now to try to set up as AP1 and AP2 to be seamless connection. So one SSID.
Current situtaion
I have 2 units connected (POE ports not AUX or CONSOLE)to gigabit switch and 1 router.
Discover mode on both devices.(LED lights; Green, Red, Off)
Currently not able to find any AP name of those 2 devices.
I can use MAC OS X terminal to SSH but no luck getting cause password.
What do I need to resolve? I have contacted the CISCO pre-sale team to before purchase those units and what do I need to do AP1, and AP2 to be one SSID and seamless connection. They told buy two units and can be done.
Anyone can help me to setup? Is there any step by step cisco web site for this?

Slightly confusing I know .. If you want to do ha on a 5508. You purchase a 5508 with the ha sku or you purchase a 5508 with a 50 ap license. When the 5508 has a 50 or more ap license it allows you to turn it into ha mode.
Think of the 50 ap licenses as a cost of doing ha ..

Mac-Address Filtering using more than one SSID

I've been asked to configure mac-address filtering on our WLC 4402 and it was basically straight forward. however i noticed that in creating the filter you can only choose 1 SSID or the other option would be to choose all? My question then is what happens if i need a user one 2 specific SSIDs? can i create separate filters for each SSID but using the same mac?

No you only can have one MAC address filter. You should only have a device associated to one SSID. So as you know, you either choose one WLAN or choose all.

Cant update firmware on SRP 527w?

I'm trying to update the firmware on my SRP 527W, but there is nowhere in the GUI to do this. According to the admin guide, I'm supposed to be able to go to Administration --> Firmware Upgrade to do this. Only thing I have under administration is Time Setup and Switch Setting.
How am I supposed to upgrade this thing?

Yep, that was the issue. Didn't know there was an admin user too. Guess I needed to start at the first page of the guide instead

SRP 527w Automated reset

Hi.
I’m rolling out a fleet of SRP 527W modems for communications support of a remote appliance. The modems are mostly operating fine, but we have seen one modem’s data rate degrade over time, and eventually drop off the ADSL connection completely. Power cycling the modem brought it back to life for a time.
I was interested if there was any way that the appliance could request a modem reset without going through the web interface. In some cases this may save getting a service person out of bed in the middle of the night just to reset a modem.

I've raised a case to have the /admin/reboot URL modified to reboot the whole system, rather that just the voice application.
In the mean time, please try the following - it's a little ugly, but should do the trick!

This is regarding Cisco ACE loadbalancing matching more than one header in L7 class map. I have a small setup with ACE 30 module in Cisco6500. I have got three webservers. Presently I have following configuration where I am mathing one url header.
class-map type http loadbalance match-all L7_WEB_HEADER_MATCH
description MATCH THE HOST HEADER OF HTTP REQUEST
2 match http header Host header-value ".*abhisar.com*"
So for above configuration, when traffic is coming for abhisar.com, it is working fine.
Now, I have following headers and DNS entry is pointing to same virtual IP for all http url header same as abhisar.com

So new configuration will be

ISE/Wireless NAC...One SSID for MAB and Dot1X?

I am running ISE 1.2 and WLC 7.5.102.
I would really like to have one SSID that can do a few different things in the following order...
1) A device could connect, hit the MAB rule, and be granted access without any type of authentication (Other than MAB) and be placed in VLAN x.
2) A device would be checked for the appropriate certificate. If this cert exists, the device is granted access.
3) If a device is not allowed in MAB, it will hit the next rule, which is the dot1x rule. The user will then be authenticated against the AD server.
4) Everything else hits default rule and is sent to web-auth portal.
I can't really think of a way to make this work with one SSID because from what I understand, you would need dot1x disabled on the SSID in order for MAB to work.
Any suggestions?
