Cisco switches routers plug-in

has anyone attempted on writing a plug-in for cisco nework devices like 6509?

You can use snmp fetchlet. For Cisco OIDs goto "Cisco SNMP object navigator"(http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/do/BrowseOID.do?objectInput=ifInOctets&translate=Translate&submitValue=SUBMIT).
Also snmpwalk can help you:).

    Folks,
Has anyone develped an EM plug-in for Cisco switches or routers? Please reply to this thread if you have developed one and would like to share your experience in developing this plug-in?
    Thanks,

It's probably not the conversion from CMYK to RGB that's causing the problem, but color profile (ICC) embedding in Photoshop. Fireworks doesn't read color profiles. You might be able to create an action to remove the color profile in Photoshop and then batch process the images with it.

  • Unable to Telnet / SSH to a particular cisco switch

    Hello,
I have an unusual issue that I just can't seem to track down.  We have a Windows Server 2008 R2 box that is unable to telnet or ssh to one switch in our network.
    Server IP:  10.0.0.74
    Cisco Switch IP:  10.1.0.7
I am able to access all other switches/routers on the 10.1.0.x network, but not this one.  I ping and tracert by ip address and name.
We have a number other servers on our network and they all can access this switch
    Example:
    a.  10.0.0.73 can telnet/ssh to 10.1.0.7
    b.  10.0.0.72  can telnet/ssh to 10.1.0.7
    c.  10.0.0.50  can telnet/ssh to 10.1.0.7
    d.  My workstation (10.0.250.213) can telnet/ssh to 10.1.0.7
If anyone can help with troubleshooting further, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply Philippe!  Here is the route print

  • Cisco Switches (2960 Series) Management

We are managing these devices using HP OpenView Network Node Manager (Ver. 7.5) on HP-UX platform.
What are the known problems, limitations on its initial discovery and on later stages of managing the same ?

The Cisco Catalyst 2960 Series supports the Cisco IOS LAN BASE software image. This software image is a rich suite of intelligent services that is also available in a crypto image at no additional charge.
Cisco Network Assistant also offers centralized management and configuration of Cisco switches and other Cisco devices such as routers and wireless access points. With Cisco Network Assistant, in addition to configuring multiple switches at a time, you can configure Cisco wireless access points, and invoke the Device Manager on Cisco routers and access points. Cisco Network Assistant can be downloaded (available at no cost).

  • Ce 500 non-cisco switch

How should I configure the smartport on a catalyst express 500 switch if I am connecting a non-cisco switch like a small linksys. I dont think I can make the smartport a switch because it tries to trunk?? right??
And if I leave it as a PC it complains abouting having to many devices connected to it.
Would having it configured as something like an access point work??

Now, I noticed something very odd, I kept the switch option selected on the port on the ce 500 that the linksys was plugged in to and the devices plugged in downstream behind the linksys all kept the correct VLAN assignment. Phones were in the voice vlan and PC's were in the data vlan. Does not really make sense to me how this is working??

  • Cisco switch simulator

    Hi,
Can anyone give or donate to me a cisco switch simulator. Tnx

Your best bet would be to start purchasing routers and switches if you plan on advancing your certs and career. You can always build on them. I would start with a 1710 (get one on ebay for about $130) as you can max the mem and do advanced items with it such as intra-confederation eBGP and VRF-lite. I would also recommend a 2950 so that you can do dot1q in your labs. These items can be used for your home internet connection in addition you your labs. I feel that you will get more benefit out of something like this, as it is not limited like a simulator is. Plus, it can last you a lot longer when you are trying to do labs that there is not a simulator for.
    Hope this helps.

  • 3com and cisco switches (802.1q)vlan integration problem - broadcast storm?

    Hi forum,
we are using 3com switches, the 3com switches implement open vlans, which mean if an ieee 802.1q packet is received at a port and the port is not a member of that vlan, the switch does not perform vlan filtering. if the address is previously learned, it will be forwarded correctly, but if it is not, it will be flooded to all ports within that VLAN.
    my questions:
    1) if another cisco switch connected with the 3com switch are placed in the same vlan, and the 3com switch received a 802.1q packet from a rogue device, it will be flooded to all the ports(including the cisco ports) within that VLANs, will it cause a broadcast storm?
    2) how do i configure the cisco switch to filter off unknown tagged packet on a port? by using vlan prunning?
    3) how do i blocked the broadcast from the 3com switches? using broadcast suppression?
    4) is there a way on the design side to effectly counter this problem?
    Kind regards,
    paul

It sounds like setup of your 3com switch is not quite up to your requirements. If a port is declared as tagged, it's ok to receive tagged frames for VLAN's that were not previously known on this port. However if your policy requires that only specific VLAN's are permitted on given tagged port, then you need to add some extra command on your 3com switch. Check with documentation and possibly with your 3com support partner.
As for cisco routers, tagged ports in Cisco-speach are trunks (this might be confusing for you as 3com calls trunks what in Cisco world is known as either Etherchannel or port aggregation). By default a trunk (tagged) port allows any VLAN. If your policy requires so, you can explicitly specify which VLAN's are allowed on given trunk (tagged) port. If a frame arrives with a tag that is not on the allowed list, the frame will be discarded. So you don't need any fancy broadcast supression to block traffic from disallowed vlans coming from your 3com switch to cisco.
P.S.: Make sure that you don't mistake 'member of VLAN' with 'native VLAN'. Some parts of your message suggest that you do.

  • Help on Cisco Switch

My present LAN consist of 4 switches. 2 x 24 ports 2900XL Catalyst and 2 x 48 ports 2960G Catalyst. Crossed cables are seen connecting all these swtiches together. All the switches have only VLAN1. As I am running out of switch port and bought a 24 ports Catalyst 2960 Series SI LAN Lite image. Now i want to join this new switch to the LAN, how should i go about after configuring the swtich with an ip address up and running. Do i simply just find an available port in the last switch to plug in a cross cable to the new switchly setup switch? Do i have to use a particular port of any available port will do with the crossed cable? What are other things to take note? Any expert can help me out?

    Hi,
For complexity reasons, let's name your switches
    2900 = 2900-1
    2900 = 2900-2
    2960G = 2960G-1
    2960G = 2960G-2
    2960NEW
I'm not sure about the 2900 series but if you connect the 2960NEW switch straight out of the box with a crossover cable to either 2960G-1/2960G-2 and each port on 2960G-1/2960G-2 has its default configuration then they will form a trunk with out applying any commands in the IOS due to each Fast Ethernet port by default being set to dynamic desirable.
It depends if the 2960G-1/2960G-2 series has had all non trunk ports switched to access ports. If they are access ports then the 2960NEW will form static access link with 2960G-1/2960G-2, this will still carry traffic but not VLAN traffic, which in your case is ok are I believe you are not using VLANS respectively.
Just to note, in your scenario, is this a production network? Are your switches linked in a line? Sw1 > Sw2 > Sw3 > Sw4? Do you have any redundant (backup) links between the switches, so if 1 link fails all 4 switches can still communicate with each other? If not, I would advise looking into Spanning Tree Protocol.
In regards to configuring the IP on the new 2960, you will need to connect a console cable and console in to the switch. Search round the Cisco website for a document which explains the commands with examples.
    Hope this helps,
    Garry

  • Centrally manage all Cisco Switches

I have more than 20 Cisco switches in my office which is basically a soap manufacturing factory. The switches include Cisco 2950, 2960, 3560, 3750 etc. We have routers also which include 2821, 2951 etc. We also have Cisco WLC 2125 and LAP 1262 series. Sometimes all these devices management comes very tough to us.
We need to logon to different devices for troubleshooting/network managment which sometimes becomes very tough to us. So I wonder if there any cisco applications or tools by which we can centrally manage all these devices.
If would be a great help for us if anyone can suggest.

The closest low cost (free) Cisco product to manage most of that would be Cisco Network Assistant (CNA). It'll do fine with your switches and manage at least your 2900 series router.
If I were on a budget I'd use CNA for the switches, add in Cisco Confguration Professional (CCP) for the couple of routers and use the built-in browser-based interface for the WLC (which covers its WAPs as well).
If you want a paid Cisco product to cover it all, you'd have to step up to Cisco Prime Infrastructure at the base licensing level (up to 50 devices). List price for that is about US$5295.
Third party options abound and also range from free open source projects (Nagios, Cacti, RANCID etc.) to full-featured systems such as the SolarWinds products (NPM, NCM, etc.)

    Thank you.

If the mailer server is not listening on tcp/25 or otherwise refuses the connection, then the socket attempt should die quickly.  If the mail server is truly unreachable, then the socket will never timeout until the EEM policy terminates.  This holds true on the latest version of EEM on routers as well.

  • Monitor Dell Powerconnect Switches/Routers using SCOM 2012

    Hello,
We are trying to find a way to monitor approximately 20-25 Dell Powerconnect switches/routers (models 5324,5424,5448,5548,6224,6024) through SCOM 2012.
Using SCOM network discovery we are able to get all Dell Powerconnect switches listed, but we are unable to get a network node dashboard, nor vicinity view 1 or 2 hops further. We are able to only see connected network printers and some serial/ethernet devices
    we have.
In addition, SCOM 2012 seems to be able to recognize the model of only Dell Powerconnect 5224 switches. We have found that on the SCOM management server the "C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\Server\NetworkMonitoring\conf\discovery\oid2type_Dell.conf"
only lists Dell Powerconnect 5224 switches as well as several models from the 3000 series.
We have contacted Dell PRO support, but their reply was that there is no management pack for SCOM available for their networking devices.
Would it be recommended to use http://xsnmp.codeplex.com/ on SCOM 2012 to monitor those switches and get a network digram view or are there any plans to include those MIBs in a future CU or SP of SCOM 2012?

    Hi Alex
Network monitoring has changed from SCOM 2007 R2 to SCOM 2012 so this statement
"but if this works for SCOM 2007, it should apply to SCOM 2012"
is not accurate when it comes to network monitoring:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/momteam/archive/2011/10/24/migrating-operations-manager-2007-network-monitoring.aspx
Would it be recommended to use http://xsnmp.codeplex.com/ on SCOM 2012?
The codeplex solutions for SCOM 2007 R2 will not work on a new \ clean install of SCOM 2012 (if you upgrade from SCOM 2007 R2 they continue to work as legacy devices but you can't add more monitoring).
SCOM 2012 seems to be able to recognize the model of only Dell Powerconnect 5224 switches
What do you mean by recoginse? SCOM can discover network devices but there is an "approved" list that allows for extended monitoring:
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26831
You should still be able to discover and monitor other devices though:

  • Does Cisco MOC RCC Plug-in support Windows 7 64bits?

    Hi,
I tried to install the Cisco_MOC_RCC_Plug-in.msi on a Windows 7, 64 bits. (CUPS is 7.0.8, the plug-in is coming from the CUPS server)
I use the command line, I receive the installation windows, do a complete install. But, after I don't see the Cisco Phone Selection tab in the MOC.
The same steps works properly on Windows XP, 32 bits.
I verified the Cisco document but they never mention the OS supported by the RCC plug-in.
Does Cisco MOC RCC Plug-in support Windows 7 64bits?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Actually, it is mentioned on the CUPS server itself on the page of the plug-in download (CUPS Server admininstration > Applications > Plugins > ..).
    Here is a copy/paste from CUPS 8.0.4.x -
"The Cisco Unified Presence Microsoft Office Communicator (MOC) 2007  Remote Call Control plugin allows MOC users to select which phone line  they wish MOC to control. When installed, the plugin will expose a CUP  web page within the MOC application where users can change their current  MOC phone line of control. This version is supported on Microsoft  Windows XP/Vista"
Although it doesn't mention windows 7 (32/64) (meaning dev team haven't tested it to certify), please feel free to give it a try.
    Thanks
