  • Cisco ISE in High Availability mode

    Hello
    Need some help, I have hardware cisco ISE 3315, want to go for high availability now, my question is that;
    1. Is Cisco ISE available on Hyper V ?
    2. Is it possible to configure 1 hardware , and other virtual (VMware / HyperV {If available}) in high availability mode ?
    Thank you very much.

While ISE may run in Hyper-V, it will definitely not be supported so I recommend staying away from doing that. The only supported virtual environment is VMware. If you only have Hyper-V then you will have to get another appliance. Do keep in mind that the 3315s are EOL/EOS. The replacement models for those are the 3415.
As it was already stated above Charles and Karsten, you can mix virtual and physical appliances. So if you do en up going with a supported virtual solution make sure that the resources for the ISE nodes are dedicated/reserved and that thin provisioning is also NOT supported.
    Hope this helps!

Hi my name is Ivan i have a trouble perhaps could you help me...
I have two cisco wlc 5508. I wan to install them in two differents site. One WLC in the site A and the another WLC in the site B.
Site B is the WAN of the site A. The site A is the headquarter.
But i need to configure them in High Availability. For example if the Cisco WLC in site A goes down, the ap's have to registered in the WLC of the site B.
Then the traffic LWAPP have to pass over the WAN between site A to site B.
I have to configure two cisco wlc in HA over a WAN . Please could help me to do this?. Is ok configure the roamming L3 intercontroller?
    Thanks for your answers

    Ivan,
    AP'S - WLC - SITE A ----WAN-----WLC - SITE B - AP'S

Hi Surendra thanks for yoru answer.
Surendra, if the ap in the site B (in the WAN) goes down then the traffic lwapp have to pass over the wan,
what will should i do to ensure access point can register on to the cisco wlc in the WAN, moreover to configure the mobility groups in both wireless lan controllers?
or i only have to configure in the wlc the mobility groups? Could you explain me what things have i to do to ensure this

  • Cisco Prime LMS High Availability

    Hi,
I am trying to setup prime LMS 4.2 with a pair of soft appliance. As I understand that HA is possible with the use of veritas/vmware for windows/solaris; I was wondering what are the possible high availability options available with a pair of prime LMS appliances? Can it form active/secondary with data synchronization/data redundancy of the LMS on top of the traditional backup/restore of the lms?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks

As iceman said, in VMWare it is not needed to have a pair of host machines to configure HA. Pairs are managed using third party HA services like veritas.
In VMWare's HA concept all Host machines are pooled into one cluster and in case of host failure the entire cluster is moved to another host. vMotion can also help to move the entire vm to another host.
This is when the host fails where vm resides. In case of failure of vm itself, the HA can be set for various actions lilke Automatic restart when hardware or OS failure is detected. OR it can restart another backup host in other cluster when failure is detected.
You need to check availble HA option on VMWare and you can consider HA options via third party applications like veritas as well.
    -Thanks

  • Cisco UCS components and Heartbleed bug

I was reading about Cisco products affected by heartbleed vulnerability at following Cisco security advisory
    http://tools.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-20140409-heartbleed#@ID
I couldn't find whether below products/components are affected by this vulnerability.. can someone confirm if these products/components are vulnerable to heartbleed?
    Cisco UCS Manager
    Cisco Integrated Management Controller (CIMC)
    Cisco UCS Blade Chassis
    tia

I agree that phrasing is a bit off, note that the notice is talking about _products_ affected (or not), not particular _components_ of a product.
UCS seems to be off the hook. Not affected are:
    Cisco UCS B-Series (Blade) Servers
Cisco UCS C-Series (Stand alone Rack) Servers
    Cisco UCS Central
    Cisco UCS Fabric Interconnects
Cisco UCS Invicta Series Solid State Systems
CIMC and UCSM would be part of FI or B-or-C-series, etc.

  • UCCX 7.0 High Availability IP Addressing

    Hi,
I am installing UCCX in HA mode. The servers are on the same site and have a RTT of less than 2 ms.
I am wondering whether to put them in the same VLAN or in separate VLANs. The design guide does not seem to state a preference.
Please let me know what approach works for you

    Hello James,
As you mention HA over IP WAN its just support under UCCX 8.0, for now UCCX 7.0 does not support these. That infomation can be check in the SRND.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_7_0/design/guide/uccx70srnd.pdf
    Page 66 says:
"Cisco Unified CCX high availability requires that the Cisco Unified CCX Engine and Database components and the CTI Managers with which the Cisco Unified CCX servers communicate be located in the same campus LAN and that the maximum round-trip delay between these servers be less than 2 ms"

  • UCS Central - Cluster Setup Bug

    Hi,
just tried to setup a ha cluster on esx 5.x and datacore fc storage. The setup wizard doesn't parse correctly the vendor and/or product string on the rdm!
Therefore no shared disk will be found and the ha setup doesn't work.
Vendor string contains eight character "datacore" and product named "virtual disk". Seems legit.
If i change the vdisk inquiry string to somethings else like vendor "foo" and product "bar" the ha setup wizard finds the shared volume.
This workaround isn't acceptable because the inquiry strings are configured on the psp and nmp rules.
Please fix this tremedously failure on the setup wizard.

I think it has to do with the fact, that local pools in UCS manager can be configured to use sequential allocation.  For global pools in UCS Central, this feature is not (yet) available; therefore the allocation looks random.
UCS Central 1.2 (coming out next week !) will only allow sequential ID allocation

  • IPS 4240 High Availability?

    Hello there,
Does 4240 work in HA mode?
Or do I have to look at 4255 if I need them to work in HA mode?
Kindly help me with this info..thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Ram

Just to add a little bit to Bob's response.  It is possible to get HA, but like mentioned above, it's not HA like you would expect from a firewall, and requires significant network planning and is pretty technical in nature.
The best documentation I have been able to find regarding HA designs is in Chapter 21 - "Deploying Cisco IPS for High Availability and High Performance"  of the CCNP Security IPS 642-627 Official Cert Guide, ISBN: 9780132372107.  It gets pretty detailed and explains a lot of different methods.
I was also able to find some information on this site, but it's at a higher level, and doesn't provide as many options.
    https://www.networkworld.com/community/node/18384
I've had to work HA into some of our environments, and I'm here to tell ya, plan ahead, way ahead, test several methods to find the best one.  We ended up using a method that I couldn't find mentioned anywhere.

  • Windows Event Collector - Built-in options for load balancing and high availability ?

    Hello,
I have a working collector. config is source initiated, and pushed by GPO.
I would like to deploy a second collector for high availability and load balancing. What are the available options ? I have not found any guidance on TechNet articles.
As a low cost option, is it fine to simply start using DNS round-robin with a common alias for both servers pushed as a collector name through GPO ?
In my GPO Policy, if I individually declare both servers, events are forwarded twice, once for each server. Indeed it does cover high availability, but not really optimized.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
    >>As a low cost option, is it fine to simply start using DNS round-robin with a common alias for both servers pushed as a collector name through GPO ?
Based on the description, we can utilize DNS round robin to distribute workloads and increase fault tolerance. By default, DNS uses round robin to rotate the order of RR data returned in query answers where multiple RRs of the same type exist for a queried
DNS domain name. This feature provides a simple method for load balancing client use of Web servers and other frequently queried multihomed computers. Besides, by default, DNS will perform round-robin rotation for all RR types.
Regarding DNS round robin, the following article can be referred to for more information.

  • Cisco UCS Manager not discovering C240 server

    Hello, Cisco community!
Currenlty UCS manager shows two Fabric Interconnects, and two Fabric Extenders, but for some reason my server isn't showing up
Here is the birds eye view:
I have my C240 connected with two 10GbE twinax cables, each going to one fabric extender. (2 FEX total)
I have two 10GbE twinax cables connected from the fiber module of each FEX to each Fabric interconnects. (2 FI total)
The fabric interconnect ports L1 and L2 ports are connected to their corresponding ports. So their connected to each other.
I run 'show cluster extended-state' on the primary FI and this is what i get:

No device connected to this Fabric Interconnect
After configuring the server-side ports on each FI, the server still doesn't show up
    Any idea are highly appreciated!!
    -Alex

It's good to know that the Fabric Interconnects don't need upstream connectivity, so we can scratch that from our list of possible issues.
For clarity, here are the important firware versions:
    CMIC - 1.5(3), cisco recommends a minimum of 1.4(6)
    BIOS - 1.5.1c, cisco recommends a minumum of 1.4.7a
    vNIC - 2.1(1c), cisco recommends a minumum of 2.1(0.367e)
So, we can cross out firware mis-matches from the list.
    wdey,
I tried going trough UCS Manager and looking where i could configure the out-of-band IP management pool, but I can't find the right place to do that. Here is a screen shot of the VLAN tab of my UCS Manager.
Could you eleborate more on the process of how to do this? This might fix the issue.
Also, I noticed that in the BIOs setting screen, under Advanced -> LOM and PCIe Slots configuration -> PCIe Slot ID: 2(VIC 1225) it says Option ROM Status Not Loaded. Do you think this might have something to do with server discovery?
Thanks alot for the help guys It's really much apprecaited.

  • Cisco Agents goes to Not ready state

    Hi,
    I have use IPCC ver:4.0(5) SR01ES09_Build095.
We have encountered that our cisco agents automatically change state and it will goes from log-in state to Not ready state.
what was the solution where i have to check the logs.
    regards
    Salman

    Hi Salman-ahmad,
This could be the way you have your agents or CSQ configured, you can configure IPCC to have them to automatically goto Not ready or stay in ready. Have you check your system parameter's?
Under RMCM Subsystem, click the resource link on the left hand side,
there is a "automatically Available" radio box you need to select.
Otherwise you maybe hitting this bug.... Are these your symptom's?
    CSCsf11662 Bug Details
Agent goes to Not Ready after making Outbound call from Ready state
    Symptom:
Agent makes outbound call from ICD extension (to a non-ICD extension), when
the agent finishes the call, they go into Not Ready state when they expect
to be returned to Ready state.
    Conditions:
    - Cisco Customer Response Solutions (CRS) 4.0(3)
    - Agent makes outbound call from ICd extension whilst in Work state (after just finishing an incoming ICD call).
    - Agent places the outbound call on Hold at some stage during the call.
    Workaround:
If the above scenario occurs, Agent needs to manually change to Ready state.
    HTH, Please rate if so

    Justin

  • – Enable high availability and redundancy for Cisco WAAS

    How this is available
    – Enable high availability and redundancy for Cisco WAAS appliances in data centers.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
You can serially cluster two WAE devices with the Cisco WAE Inline  Network Adapter installed to provide higher availability in the data  center if a device fails. If the current optimizing device fails, the  inline group shuts down, or the device becomes the overloaded, the  second WAE device in the cluster provides the optimization services.  Deploying WAE devices in a serial inline cluster for scaling or load  balancing is not supported.
More deatils here: Clustering Inline WAEs

    Hi,
Are both the CUP servers in different subnets/networks? If yes, then there is a setting under cluster topology page that has to be modified. It must be in Settings under cluster topology page. The default parameter will be 'MDNS'. This has to be changed to 'Router to Router' if the servers are in different subnets.

  • Buggy action - 'the command "high pass" is not currently available'

Hi, I've recently been speedtesting a couple of mac minis with different RAM and scratch configurations. To speedtest I'm running a Photoshop action.
Today, I added 16Gb RAM (2 x 8Gb) to a 2011 i7 2.7 ghz mac mini and discovered that my previously well functioning speedtest action gets stuck at the High Pass filter step. It pops up a warning - 'the command "high pass" is not currently available'. If I then highlight the high pass stage in the action palette and click play, the filter works and the action continues.
I googled and found a suggestion to reinstall Photoshop. I did this and the action completed properly - but only once. When I tried to run it again it got stuck as before, at the high pass filter stage.
    Any ideas?
(The steps in the action prior to this problem: background layer duplicated (layer via copy), image mode from 16bit to 8 bit, unsharp mask on copied layer... then i'm wanting to run the high pass on the same layer, but it stops...)

Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by keeping command-alt-shift pressed on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
