  • N80 for Cisco Unified CallManager

We know that Nokia has a client software for Cisco Unified CallManager which gives Cisco IP Communications functionality (VoIP functionality under Cisco infrastructures) to Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70s.
The question is will there be a similiar application which will give the same functionality for Nseries devices (especially N80s and future coming N95s)?

i do hope there is, but Nokia's series like E & N have a diffrent target of customers & features!Message Edited by android on 14-May-200704:12 PM

    Hi,
I want to create a customized wallboard for CM 5. It is based on linux. i need some guidance how to start with? what approach is needed. how to connect to linux db from .net/c#. axl api can do the job how to cosume the webservice. Please guide me in executing this task.

IPCC Express = Unified Contact Center Express.
There is no such thing as Unified Contact Center... there's a Unified Contact Center Express, a Unified Contact Center Enterprise and a Unified Contact Center Hosted.
First order of business for you is to identify which product you have and which version. Second order of business is look at the appropriate product page and look at what guides are available.
There's also a bunch of information available (cco account required) in the developer support pages here: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/dev_support/access_level/product_support
But nothing can rid of you having to understand and learn about the product you're dealing with. You may be best served asking your colleagues that installed the software, or whomever installed the software to give you a crash course about the product, as without proper knowledge, you'll always be hunting for information - there's just no substitute for understanding the product you're working with.

  • What are the main Differences between Cisco CallManagerExpress and full blown Cisco Unified CallManager

I am trying to decide which to deploy to a site that has a little over 100 users and they use a lot of features with their current phone system setup. For example, one setup is ring once to 'x' user and if they dont answer forward the call to 'y' group of users and if they dont answer, go to 'user x' voicemail. Does CME support those kind of configurations?
Also i have a CUCM environment at one site... Can CME Integrate with that or is it more of a standalone?
    Thanks for any input.

Not sure if this is still supported, but this is the only option I've heard for CME:

  • Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition

    Hi,
As per my understanding this is only one server solution and you can not have more than one server i.e no sub only Pub. Is this correct?
    Thanks
    Ati

    Hi Ati,
You are most correct :) This is is "single server" solution for small to medium sized businesses up to 500 users. It comes packaged with Unity Connection for Voicemail.
    Here is a clip;
"Cisco Unified Communications Manager Business Edition is an easy-to-manage solution that combines voice, video, mobility, and messaging on a single server to simplify system administration and reduce hardware and operating expenses. This solution provides cost-effective deployment options for medium-sized organizations with smaller IT staffs that require all the advanced capabilities of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified CallManager), Cisco Unity Connection, Cisco Unified Mobility (formerly Cisco Unified MobilityManager), and integrated management on a single server to expedite migration to unified communications."

  • Cisco Unified Communication Manager Deployment Model Question

    Hello,
I am researching how to create a cluster over the WAN for CUCM and all of the design specifications I look at have a Voice Router between the cloud and the Subscribing servers. Why can the Subscribing servers not talk directly to each other?
    Thank You
    P.S such as this http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/srnd/4x/42models.html#wp1045977
    Local Failover Deployment Model
The local failover deployment model provides the most resilience for clustering over the WAN. Each of the sites in this model contains at least one primary Cisco Unified CallManager subscriber and one backup subscriber. This configuration can support up to four sites. The maximum number of phones and other devices will be dependant on the quantity and type of servers deployed. The maximum total number of IP phones for all sites is 30,000. (See Figure 2-5.)
Figure 2-5 Example of Local Failover Model

    Hi
They can talk to each other directly, you are correct.
Typically a voice router would also be a WAN router only in small branch sites.
On a deployment anywhere near the size indicated the voice gateways would be single-purpose hosts (as they are also indicated on the diagram).
I presume they are indicated with a V as the 'could' be voice gateways as well, though they would almost certainly not be.

    Hello Robert,
Apologies for a delayed response, some days get very hectic.
In CallManager, we only define the SRST reference, and CUCM version and SRST version are independent of each other.
The only thing, which is related and will change with CUCM upgrade is Phone F/w version.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucm/compat/ccmcompmatr1.pdf
You may just want to check your, phone f/w compatibility with the SRST version running on your ISR G1 Gateways:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps2169/products_device_support_tables_list.html
    For Example: SRST version 7.1
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6788/vcallcon/ps2169/data_sheet_c78-520521.html
You may want to do some lab testing with CUCM 9.1 and an SRST supported f/w on your phones.
If you decide to run the old Phone/F/w to support the SRST version, you may not be able to take advantage of new features.
Also, you can try and upgrade your phones(Wih CUCM 9.1) and test them with your SRST version.
It should work fine, but from a troubleshooting perspective, TAC may request you to come into a Cisco Supported combination.
Please, let me know if this clarifies your doubt or we can have a quick phone call.

  • Upgrade Cisco Unified Presence 8.5 to 9.1.1

    dears,
I have cisco unified  presence 8.5 installed on UCS server and i need to upgreade it to 9.1.1
I will upgrade the cucm and unity connection to 9.1.1
Please advise what are the steps to upgrade the presence to 9.1.1?
    Best Reagrds,
    Haytham

    Hi Haytham,
Supported Upgrade Paths from IM Installation Instructions
    and Presence Service.
Upgrades from Release 8.0(1) through 8.6(1) to Release 9.1(1) require
a Refresh Upgrade using the ciscocm.cup.refresh_upgrade_v1.01.cop.sgn
    file.
Upgrades from Release 8.6(2) and 8.6(3) to Release 9.1(1) require a
    Refresh Upgrade only.
Upgrades from Release 8.6(4), 8.6(5), and Release 9.0(1) to Release
9.1(1) require a Standard Upgrade only.
For more information about Refresh Upgrades and Standard
Upgrades, see the Upgrade Guide for Cisco Unified
    Communications Manager, Release 9.1(1).
    Note
Perform these steps to proceed with the upgrade:
    1 Go to http://www.cisco.com/cisco/software/navigator.html.
2 Navigate to Products > Voice and Unified Communications >
Unified Communications Applications > Cisco Unified Presence
    > Cisco Unified Communications Manager IM and Presence
Service Version 9.1 > Unified Presence Server (CUP)
    Updates-9.1(1).
3 Download the complete ISO file:
    UCSInstall_CUP_9.1.1.10000-8.sgn.iso
    Release 8.0(1) through 8.6(x) and
    Release 9.0(1) to 9.1(1)
Direct upgrades from Cisco Unified Presence Release 6.0(x) to Release 9.1(1) are not supported. You
must first upgrade to at least Release 8.0(1) of Cisco Unified Presence. For more information about
upgrading to Cisco Unified Presence Release 8.x, see the Release Notes for Cisco Unified Presence here
    on Cisco.com: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6837/prod_release_notes_list.html.
    Note
    Upgrade from Cisco.com
Cisco does not support downloading major IM and Presence Service software releases from Cisco.com, for
example, IM and Presence Service Release 9.0(1). You can download upgrade-only software images from
Cisco.com that are used to upgrade from a previous major software release to a subsequent software maintenance
release or point release of IM and Presence. For example, you can download Cisco Unified Presence Release
8.0(2) or Cisco Unified Presence Release 8.6(1) from Cisco.com.
To download this software, go to http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/go/Redirect.x?mdfid=278875240.
You must have an account on Cisco.com to access the Software Center. The images posted at the Software

    Hi Anurag,
    Thanks for your questions.
1:Is there change in DB architecture as CUIC is the only option as compared to previous linux version UCCX ?
I assume this is from the tables regarding historical data. The database schema essentially remains the same since UCCX 9.0 had CUIC too and we had a seperate DB Space for CUIC and we still continue with that. The traditional historical tables remain and the replication process remains the same too.
2:Is there any version change for Linux OS used as VOS,
The Linux version is Red Hat Linux 5. To be precise:
    [root@uccx10pub /]# cat etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga)
3:Is there any API architecture change in UCCX 10 from previous releases ?
I can answer this more of an overview. The only enhancement in the API side is the introduction of REST API step in the script editor. You can now make REST calls from the script and this ofcourse opens up a whole new world of possiblities.
4:Since from UCCX 10 , we can only use either CAD or Finnesse at one  time, whats the impact of changing this after some time in production,  let say , i used CAD for 2 months and then i decided to move to Finesse,  whats the impact ? or is it a smooth change as switching CUIC and HRC  in previoius release ?
For the scenario you mentioned, there is absolutely no problem. The point to note is that the Finesse services are activated/deactivated but the CAD desktop services are ALWAYS running. The only condition to keep in mind is that you can use ONLY ONE type of agent desktop at any time.  Also if Finesse is not used and CAD operations are used extensively, it is advisable to shutdown the Finesse service.
5:Is 3rd Party UCS hardware supported by UCCX 10 instead of using Cisco manufactured UCS , can i use HP hardware for Virtualisation ?
Yes, it can be used. This is something called as "Third party specs based specification". The most important things seen for compatibility are:
    Inter CPU Model
It it is on thVMWare Hardware Compatibilty List
You can get more information about this on the "Can I use this server?" section of UC Virtualized Hardware page:
    http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/UC_Virtualization_Supported_Hardware#.22Can_I_use_this_server.3F.22
    6:Is Host name change supported?
Yes, the hostname change is supported. The prcocedure is documented in the UCCX 10.0 Administration Guide:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_10_0/configuration/guide/UCCX_BK_W1AF9DDD_00_uccx-admin-guide-10.0.pdf (Pg 168)

    Abhiram Kramadhati

  • Upgrade from Cisco Unified CM 4.2 to CUCM 6.0

We are planning an upgrade from CUCM 4.2 to CUCM 6.0 in March, 2009. Is it significantly different? Should I try to get some training classes before upgrade? Or are functions esentially the same?

    Hi Mary,
    Happy 2009 my friend!
First off, if you can get some training it's always a valuable thing. That being said, functionally, the knowledge that you have gained while working with CUCM 4.x versions will carry across nicely. So you won't be working "in the dark" here. The look and feel is quite different but is not a "show stopper".
If you get some time to play in the "lab" you should be good to go.
    Here is one Cisco Press book that is good for CUCM 6.x studies;
Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1)
Implementing Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Part 1 (CIPT1), is a Cisco®-authorized, self-paced learning tool for CCVP® foundation learning. This book provides the knowledge necessary to install, configure, and deploy a Cisco Unified Communications solution based on Cisco Unified Communications Manager, the call routing and signaling component of the Cisco Unified Communications solution. By reading this book, you will gain an understanding of deploying a Cisco Unified Communications Manager to support single site, centralized, distributed, and hybrid call processing models.
This book focuses on Cisco Unified Communications Manager Release 6.x. You will learn how to install and configure Cisco Unified Communications Manager, power over Ethernet switches, and gateways using MGCP. You will also learn how to build a scalable dial plan for on-net and off-net calls. The dial plan chapters of the book cover call routing, call coverage, digit manipulation, class of service, and call coverage components. This book will teach you how to implement media resources, LDAP directory integration, and various endpoints including Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). Cisco Unified Video Advantag endpoint configuration is covered, in addition to, Cisco Unity® voice mail integration and basic voice mail box creation. Various user features are discussed including Presence.
Whether you are preparing for CCVP certification or simply want to gain a better understanding of Cisco Unified Communications Manager fundamentals, you will benefit from the foundation information presented in this book.

  • Cisco Unified TAPI TSP Client Windows 7 quick question

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/prod/collateral/voicesw/ps6789/ps7046/ps7282/product_bulletin_c25-563280_ps556_Products_Bulletin.html
Inside of the product bulletin for the release of the CUCM products for Windows 7 it lists:
Cisco Unified TAPI TSP Client (including Wave Driver)
    Version 8.5(1), FCS Q4CY10
    • WoW64 - Not applicable
    • Native 64 - Target FCS Q4CY10
My question is this - the 'Version 8.5(1)" is that the version of CUCM that I will have to upgrade too? Or is there a TAPI TSP download seperate from the Call Manager upgrades? I am currently on 7.1.x
Silly question I know...but trying to find the answer.

    Hello,
so does it mean: There is NO WAY to make a TAPI/TSP Service Provider 8.6(2.4) work with CallManager 7.x? I have a Win7 64bit system here, but the CallManager still ist on 7.x.
    Kind Regards,
    Olaf

  • CallManager upgrade from 3.3(5)es23 to 4.2(3) fails

Not having a lot of luck over on the Unified Communications Applications forum so thought I would post this here as well.
The CallManager upgrade from 3.3(5)es23 to 4.2(3) fails at installing SQL2000 SP4.
    On the Publisher :
    OS Image 2000.2.4
    OS Service rel : 2000.4.3aSR9
    OS Upgrade : 2000.4.3a
    On the Subscriber :
    OS Image 2000.2.4
    OS Service rel : 2000.4.3aSR9
    OS Upgrade : 2000.4.3a
    SQL2K SP : SP3a(1.0.6)
The SQL version is too high to allow the Publisher to be patched to SQL2k
    SP3a(1.0.6).
I have also donwloaded the SQL200 SP4 upgrade and tried installing that on the
    Publisher but this fails also.
I did try upgrading the OS on both the Pub and Sub to 2000.4.4a with
2000.4.4aSR6 but the CallManager upgrade still failed at the SQL2000 SP4
    upgrade phase of the installation.
Has anyone seen this happen before and know a solution? All suggestions very welcome.
    Keith.

SQL SP4 should be installed AFTER CallManager4.2(3) upgrading finished.
( Please refer to SQL SP4 readme.file from cisco , not from Microsoft)
Here is the basic task order:
    OS upgrade->CCM upgrade->SQL SP4 upgrade.
    My suggestion:
Restore your system to CCM3.3(5) ( find your backup data)
    Then upgrade again.
    Hope this help.
    Howard
    Please rate if this helps.
( I attached part of SQL SP4 readme file as follows:
    SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 4 - (SQL2K-ServicePack4.1-0-3.exe)
Note: If you install SQL2K SP4 on a Cisco CallManager 3.3(5), or 4.0(2a) server,
you will not be able to upgrade the server to Cisco CallManager 4.1(2) later. If such an upgrade is required, you must upgrade the server to Cisco CallManager 4.1(2) before you install SQL2K SP4
