  • Cisco Unity 4.x not recognising DTMF tones from phones

I have cisco call manage 4.x and Unity 4.x . I have set up IVR  but the IVR does not accept DTMF tones. Any suggestions anyone

Go to the Unity tools and you'll find the port status monitor there, open up all ports you have for inbound and then watch the output, if Unity is receiving the DTMFs you'll see the messages and the DTMF it received.
If you don't see any DTMFs messages then most lilely DTMFs are never reaching Unity and the problem is somewhere else.

  • Will Cisco Unity inbox show the calling name from non-subscribers

Unity CX 7.1.3 -- I need to know if the calling name is present will CUCM pass this to Unity CX and show the name in the messages "from" field on the Cisco Unity Inbox (personal communications assistant) I currently have a PIMG integration and there is no name field in the SMDI traces.

    Hi -
Sorry, I misunderstood your original posting.  Here is a link to Unity Connection for customizing the subject line of voice messages - http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/7x/administration/guide/7xcucsagpdf.pdf
The subject line is viewable using the Cisco Unity Inbox.  Note however, this is not ciscopca, which is used to configure user voicemail settings.  As you can see from the link, "When the %NAME% parameter is used in the subject line format of an outside caller message, it is automatically replaced with the ANI Caller Name of the sender of the message. If the ANI Caller Name is not available, Cisco Unity Connection inserts the value specified in the %NAME% (When Unknown) field."  If the message comes from a non-subscriber, you may see "Voice Message from Unknown Caller" or Unidentified Caller in the subject.  I recommend also using field %CALLERID%, which I believe is used by default, because at least the voicemail user will get the caller's phone number.

  • Exchange Retention Policy Tag for Voicemails - worked for UM but not for new Cisco Unity - Any ideas?

    Hi All,
We're in the process of moving from Unified Messaging to Cisco Unity. In the past, I had successfully applied the following Retention Policy Tag which worked with UM:
New-RetentionPolicyTag "Voice Mail 60 Day Retention" -Type All -MessageClass voicemail -Comment "Untagged messages removed after 60 days." -RetentionEnabled $true -AgeLimitForRetention 60 -RetentionAction DeleteAndAllowRecovery
Now, with Cisco Unity, I see that the voicemails show "Expires: Never."
The Cisco voicemails differ from UM in that instead of being *.mp3 files, they are *.wav.
I cannot figure out a way to create a Retention Policy tag that deletes a specific file type. Any ideas?
    Thank you,
    MrMister

Those don't exist. The tags work on message class. The Cisco VMs are not the same forms as the Exchange UMs essentially.

  • Messages Deleted in Outlook do not get permanently deleted by aging policy

Our message aging policy is setup to permanently delete messages asap. It works ok when a user does a delete from the phone but when the user deletes from MS Outlook, the messages linger forever.
When checked from a phone, the Outlook deleted messages are in the old items folder and are labeled deleted messages. If these messages are then deleted via the phone, they do go away and the messages count in the CUC Edit>Mailbox>Mailbox Information does go to zero finally.
Any ideas why the Aging policy doesn't work with Outlook? Is there a way to permanently delete the deleted items in the mailboxes of all users?
Here is our default system policy which is used on all mailboxes:
    Enabled - checked
Move new messages to the saved folder in 7 days - unchecked
Move saved messages to the deleted folder in 14 days - checked
Number of days alert is sent priot to moving saved messages - 3
Permanently delete messages in the deleted folder in 1 day
Send alert to user prior to deleting messages - unchecked
Number of days alert is sent prior to deleting messages - 3
      Secure rules are both unchecked

  • Unity mail box aging policy

I need to change the current Mail box aging policy for an existing system. If I reduce the current set up how does it effect existing "deleted" messages? Does it delete all existing ones or does it only delete new ones from the date of the change as with changes in Template/COS?
Also I need to change the alarm threshold is there a best practice based upon the size of the hard drive- % wise ?
    thanks

    Hi -
The default mailbox message aging policy is Enabled for Deleting voice messages automatically in the Deleted Items folder. "Permanently Delete Messages in the Deleted Items Folder in 15 Days"
So unless you have disabled this rule, voice messages are already getting deleted.  You may want to check here.
When you enable the policy for a specific number of days, the timestamp of the message is used for calculating, based on
how the user marked the message as new, resaved the message, deleted the message, or restored a deleted message as saved from the phone interface, called the "modification time".  So if you change it to 90 days, voice messages older than 90 days will be deleted the next time the scheduled task "Clean Deleted Messages" runs, which is every day, every 30 minutes.  From Cisco's Unity Connection 8.5 System Admin guide, "If you only need one set of message aging rules, you can change the specifications for the default message aging policy and assign that one policy to all users and all templates. If you need to allow some users to retain messages longer than other users, you can create additional policies and assign different policies to user templates and to individual users. If you want to send message aging alerts to some users and not to others, you can create additional policies that include aging alerts. (Message Aging Alerts are available only in Cisco Unity Connection 8.5 and later.)". You might have "privileged" users, i.e. Managers that you want to protect and configure a different policy for these users.
    Hope this helps!  Ginger

  • Unity Message Aging Policy

    All,
is there anyway to customize the Message aging policy beyond the options that are present?  As an example any way to move a message from New Directly to Deleted Folder after 10 days but bypass the Move to Saved folder?

    Hi Trevor,
One nice way with Unity Connection is with the use of this excellent tool from the great suite of Unity Tools (use the ** reset" feature **).
    Unity Connection Bulk User Delete
For resetting users you have the option of emptying the mailbox,  resetting greetings, deleting voice names,  resetting passwords,  removing private lists and a number of other  options you may choose.   For installations where the user base “changes  over” frequently such as  schools this may be a nicer option.  This  option is also allowed for  CoRes installations since it does not involve  the removal of user  objects from the Connection database.

  • Cisco Unity Express 8.6.6 Voice Mail not deleting when e-mail with attachment deleted

I have a Cisco Unity Communications Manager rel 9.1.2 that supports a remote location with a Unity Express rel 8.6.6 voice mail service module in the voice gateway to insure if WAN goes down the location still has voice mail. We have Voice Mail to E-Mail working. The problem is that when the e-mail with the voice mail is deleted the message stays in the Unity Express Voice Mail Box. All of our local users on the same Call Manager Cluster using a local Unity Connection Cluster rel 9.1.2 have the voicemails deleted when the e-mail is deleted.
How can I resolve this issue?

It should have been fixed in 8.5 but we did change the SMTP domain name on 8.6 and now see the problem. Will schedule a reboot and see if the issue goes away.

When we make a call from sub A to sub B, if sub B doesnt answer the call it is forwarded to Cisco Unity and the greetings are played. when we tried to record the message and play back it is not played back also when we send that message, message is not reaching sub B (phone keypresses are taken). Please any one help me to solve this issue.

If the other question is about an AA all you need is a CTI RP with CFA to VM, a call handler with matching DN and record the greeting.
If you need more options configure new call handlers and use the caller input config from the first call handler.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 not getting CLID information from CUCM 8.6

    Hello,
    Currently Running:
    Cisco Unified Communications Manager 8.6.2
    Cisco Unity Connection 8.6.2
    Problem:
when any outside caller leaves a voicemail, the caller number information is not being sent to unity.
example, I call with my cell phone, 817.555.1234 to my Cisco 7940 phone and it shows the CLID information that i am calling with. iDivert to voice mail, Leave a message. Playback message and just the default message information from Cisco Unity.
we currently upgraded from CUCM 6.1.3 and Unity 5. before i could press 9 and get the caller information.
I have viewed the "Playback Message Settings" and selected "After Playing Each Message, Play" and selected Sender's Information. and also selected "Include Extension and Sender's ANI"
upon playing the VoiceMail after the message i get the default message "From Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System"
I also have the message relaying to my E-mail and I get the same in the subject line.
"Message from Cisco Unity Connection Messaging System (Unknown extension)"
This tends to be a big deal with the Sales team as customers will call and say "Call me back"
But any Internal Calls show the correct information, proper greeting, extension information even on the relay to e-mail.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Cisco Unity Connection not relaying voicemails outside the organization

Hi all, we are running Cisco Unity Connection version: 8.6.2ES25.21900-25.  It has been set up to accept voicemails for Exchange 2010 users (in other words email messages with WAV attachments) and deliver these to their inboxes; this works with no problem.
I have two users who would like to receive these emails at their outside account, however the messages are never sent.  I have tried the following:
Changed the users corporate email addresses from "[email protected]" to "[email protected]"
Unchecked the option to "Generate SMTP Proxy Address From Corporate Email Address."
On the "Message Actions" page for their account I have configured voicemail and email to "Relay the message" and entered their external SMTP addresses.
Confirmed the smart host setup is OK (points to our Exchange 2010 CAS which has firewall rules in place to permit it to send mail outside the organization.
Confirmed the Exchange 2010 CAS will accept SMTP messages from the subnet the Unity Connection server resides in.
If I switch the user SMTP settings BACK to their original internal SMTP addresses for my company the messages are then immediately delivered properly to these addresses.  This signifies to me that Unity is periodically trying to send these items but they just aren't going out.  No sign of the messages in any user report I ran in Unity nor message tracking in Exchange.
I also tried setting up an Outlook rule to forward these voicemail messages to the recipients external addresses but this did not work and after doing some research I see that the way in which Unity delivers the messages to these recipients internally (via EWS) is the reason why.  I wonder if this is the same reason these are not going out to their external SMTP addresses.
    Thanks for any assistance provided!

Look at the transfer options for that particular user and make sure it's set to ring the phone, that configuration is PER user.

  • SCCP is not supported on Cisco unity express?

    Hey,
I was reading some integration (with CME or CUCM) articles on interweb and somehow I got this impression that SCCP is not supported or working well on CUE... MWI will be using SIP if CUE and CME are integrated, what about CUCM?
I checked SCCP Compatibility matrix and there is no information of CUE...
So I am here asking this questions: SCCP is not supported on unity express?

  • Mailbox quota on Cisco unity, quick question

    Hello guys,
I was facing a probleme with an unity connection cluster. I had a message which tell something like that
"no disk space avalaible, user cannot depose message..."
So I tchecked my space on disk (screenshot attached) with the show cuc dbserver diskspace command, but I don't know what I need to see to diagnose an eventual problem.
I changed the mailbox quota for my users from 15 to 40MBytes and all is right now.
But what is the good practise ?
    - tell my user to delete their mailbox ?
    - expand my mailbox quota ?
    - others ideas ?
    Thanks for your good ideas
    Kévin

I would consider implementing a aging policy. You could notify users via email before aging out messages.
I will be careful expanding mailbox size unless your system is over provisioned to handle your environment. Also larger mail store will cause issues with daily backups and etc.

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 problem with greeting upload

    Hello at all,
i have a realy strange Problem.
I want to upload a Greeting (*.wav-file) to a Call Handler, everything looks fine after uploading and i can also hear (Playback) the massage on the Computer and on my Phone. So i save the Config. After that i want to hear the massage after calling the Call Handler but i hear only "sorry, "CallHandlerName" is not Awailable".
If i make some checks everything looks ok, i have 2 User with sysadmin-role - both can Playback the massage via the Webpage.
But if i take the Phone and call the "Greetings Administrator" - there is no personal Greeting on this Call Handler - and thats my Problem.
If i Record a new massage with the Phone (in the Greeting Admin) it is working - after Uploading a new File (Codec is ok) i can Playback the new file but after Calling the CH, i hear the Massage which i have recordet with the Phone - not the Uploadet. But on the Webpage i hear the Uploadet file.....
    Whats wrong????
And yes, i have set this 2 Users as Call Handler Owner.
    What should i do??
Please can anyone help me in this case.....
    kind regards
    Markus
EDIT: I have also the Problem, that i can´t upload a File for a User - only the User self can Upload a Greeting, if do this with one of the 2 Admin-Accounts i hear also the System-Massage "sorry, -USERNAME- is not awailaible" and not the uploadet file - at the Webpage i hear the uploadet Massage - it seems to be the same Prob as with the CallHandler. Is it a JAVA-Problem mabye? I have Java JRE Version7 update7 installed and IE8 as Browser....
Certificate is installed, and the CUC is a trusted site......

    Hi Markus,
    It could be this bug;
CSCto92753 - Unable to upload wav files and save as greeting or send as message
    Description
    Symptom:
Unable to upload an  existing wav file, or create a new recording using the PC microphone and  save as greeting, voice name, or send as message. In the case of trying  to send as a message, the user receives a "Failed to Send Message"  error.
You might see Failed to Record Name if attempting to overwrite a Call Handler with a file.
You might also see Unable to save recording due to SSL certificate error.
    Conditions:
    Cisco Unity Connection versions 7.1(5)ES45, 8.0(3)ES27, 8.5(1)ES37
When  using either the Cisco Unity Connection Administration (CUCA) or the  Cisco Unity Connection Personal Communications Assistant (PCA) web  applications to upload an existing wav file, or create a new recording  using the PC microphone and save as a voice name, greeting, or send as a  message.
In the client side Java Console logs, you see the following exception:
Exception  in thread "Timeout guard" java.security.AccessControlException: access  denied (java.net.SocketPermission 10.93.231.234:8443 connect, resolve)
    Workaround:
In  your client side JRE security profile file....commonly named:   java.policy...add the below entry.  Will need to use the ipaddress of  the Connection server (for a cluster, put an entry for each of publisher  and subscriber).
    permission java.net.SocketPermission "10.93.237.101:8443", "connect,resolve";
If  get a permission error when trying to modify java.policy, then you may  need to set the permissions of the file to not inhearent permissions  from it's parent and not be read-only.  (aka by default the entire JRE  folder is read-only but you need to modify a file within it).

  • Cisco Unity Connection 8.6 - Cannot Upload Greeting

Hello! I am running Unity Connection 8.6, using VMWare, in my home lab. When I try to upload a greeting to my System Call Handler, I get the following:

    Site: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/voice-unified-communications/unity-connection-version-70/110950-unity-wav-issues.html#certerr
I visited the above site and tried importing the certificate into both Firefox and IE, but that did not seem to work. I also looked into Cisco Bug ID CSCto92753, but that also did not work. I looked at the Java Console Log and did a search for "access denied":

            permission java.security.AllPermission;
            permission java.io.FilePermission "C:\Users\Lalo\.cisco\unity\mediamaster\mm.properties", "write";
At this point and I am stuck. Thanks in advance for reading my post and for your assistance.

Browsers: Firefox 28.0 and IE 9
Java Version 7 Update 55 (Also tried Java Runtime Environment 1.6.0.39)

I ran in to these same symptoms and have been fighting it for a while. I have not ultimately found a solution but I found the following workaround which allowed me to get my greetings uploaded until a better solution can be found. I am posting it here in case it might work for others in a pinch.
    Workaround:
Open the mediamaster applet on the appropriate page and choose to open file
browse to and select the greeting you want to upload
BEFORE clicking save, click the play button in the mediamaster (I have mine set to play via phone, I didn't test via computer). The file uploads and plays.
Then click save. For some reason, this seems to have properly uploaded the greeting without any errors.
I hope this is helpful to someone who is running in to this same frustrating error.
