Cisco UNITY Failover Configuration with no Computer Browser Service

Hi,
Actually i'm configuring a unity failover server with version 7, at this point i'm triyng to add the failover server thru the failover configuration wizard which should list the failover server, but in this customer as a domain policy the computer browser service is disabled, reason why the failover server does not appear on the list of computers.
Does any one have any idea on how to deal with this issue?
Thanks.

Javier,

  • Question about configuring Computer Browser service

On network computers after the net view command displayed different lists of computers.
All computers are in the same domain. OS: Windows Server 2012, 2012R2, Windows 8, 8.1. On all computers except domain controllers and another server using Group Policy disabled Computer Browser service. I can not understand why the
net view command provides different lists of computers.
I can provide more detailed information.

    Hi,
The NetBIOS will be discard in the future it recommend you use DNS name resolution, in your case if the NetBIOS based name resolution is necessary it recommend you create
    a WIN server.
In a Windows NT domain structure, the primary domain controller (PDC) is always selected as the domain master browser. Only the PDC can be a domain master browser. If a PDC
is not present, a domain master browser is not available and you are unable to obtain browse lists from workgroups other than the workgroup you are located in.
With the multi subnet you must configure your router to allow the WINS related protocol through the different subnet.

  • Computer Browser Service disabled on DCs

    I have 2 DCs...
    1) Physical Server 2012 - GC, DNS Integrated, DHCP
    2) Virtual Server 2012  - GC, DNS Integrated, DHCP, FSMO, RID Master, PDC Master, Infrastructure Master
While troubleshooting network browsing on a 2003 server, I noticed that the Computer Browser service is disabled on both these DCs.  Is this right?  We do have some computers that are workgroup only.

    Hello,
the Computer browser service is still the same on the OS versions. See here why it is disabled and where to enable the service if NetBios is required.

  • Not working properly Computer Browser service in Windows Server 2012

    Good afternoon.
Migrated from 2003 to 2012 Active Directory, all is good, but the service Computer Browser in Windows Server 2012 is not working properly.
Online, there are several hundred computers, one network, no segments. PDC is the Master Browser, it is in my list of all the computers, but gives customers or Backup Browser computers only part, and in alphabetical order, giving the first 70 computers and
    all.
    Looked packet sniffer:
Microsoft Windows Lanman Remote API Protocol
    Entry Count: 70
    Available Entries: 251
So on Master Browser shows 251 computer, and the client 70.
If disabled on Windows Server 2012 Service Computer Browser, Master Browser is a computer running Windows Server 2003. He gives all computers.
What is the problem, how to get Windows Server 2012 to work correctly as a Master Browser?

More info. I have high lighted in bold where the issue is. This is a massive headache for me at the moment

  • Storedge 3510 failover configuration with 1 host

    I people.
I'm new to the storedge configuration.
I have a Sun storedge 3510 - 2 controllers with 2 x host port fc and 1x drive port each.
I want to do a simple configuration - connect 1 host to the storedge with failover.
It's correct to connect the 2 controllers using the drive port - because i want failover?
It's possible to use only 1 pci single FC adapter in the machine?
I will connect the machine with the storedge usinge 1 fibre cable,
I will use the host port FC1. And to do the failover I will connect the 2 controllers
using the drive port fc3 e fc2. - THIS IS CORRECT?
My problem is who to connect the cables and who to configure the storedge. I'm
already connected to the COM Port.
Another thing i have in the first controller amber light - this is a hardware problem?
And wath is the best configuration to use with 3510 storedge, one host, and failover?
Thank you. I need this help for now.. Please.

Isn't it wonderful when people respond?
I, too, am running into the same scenario. We have a single 3510FC that is connected to a single host through two controller cards. The drives are configured as a single logical drive under RAID-5. We want to have this configuration multi-pathed for redundancy, not throughput, even though controller cards NEVER fail. [sarcasm] We will be using Veritas VxVM DMP for redundancy.
Unfortunately, I can only ever see the logical drive/LUN on one controller. The main connection is channel 0 of the primary controller. Whenever I try to configure it to simultaneously be on channel 5 of the secondary controller, the 3510 won't let me do it. I can't figure out how to get the LUN to be assigned to two host channels when one is on the primary controller and one is on the secondary controller.
I find this to be absurd. Controllers fail. That's all that there is to it. Yet the design of the 3510 (and the 3310 as well) seem to fight like hell whenever you want to spread the logical drives across physical controllers.
What's the solution to this one, guys?

  • What's wrong with my computer/browser?

    http://screenr.com/gzr8
I can't figure out what is wrong with my browser. Any ideas?
It might be flash, silverlight, etc?

Here is the link, which was also listed above: http://www.screenr.com/gzr8
The problem is that some images, videos, etc. are not showing up when I am using an internet browser (chrome or firefox). The video shows this visually which is hard to explain without seeing it.

  • Pix Failover Configuration with 1 Public

Have 1 PIX 515e (6.3(3)) in production that is currently assigned ip 1.1.1.2 w/ a 255.255.255.248 mask.  All of my remaining publically assigned ips are being used so I don't have a free ip for the standby ip on the outside interface.  Can I just do the standbys on the inside, failover and stateful link and not worry about having the standby for the outside?  I'll be using lan-based failover w/ a few ports vlan'd out on my 3560 for the failover and stateful links.

    Hello David,
The Pix firewall is getting to end of life this month, on version 6.3 I don't think this is supported or what will be the behavior on this scenario, on version 7.0 and higher you can use the command:
    no monitor-interface if_name
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/asa/asa70/command/reference/mr.html#wp1582411
And just monitor the other interfaces.
    I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Felipe.

  • Adding a Unity failover (clean install - configuration)

We are trying to build a new Unity server and use it as Failover.
I need to know the steps to build this new server and if I need a special license to be a failover from the Primary Unity.
We used to have two Unity servers on different domains with a licensing Pool (sharing licenses). One day we got ride of one of the domains, and we moved all subscribers to a single Unity. Now we have a spare server, but we don't have any redundancy in case our Primary Unity fails.
The need now, is to do a clean install on the spare server and configure it as a Failover Unity server.
We are currently running Unity 4.0.(5)
Any help would be appreciate it.

You need a failover license for this, get in touch with pre-sales for this.

  • Question about Master Browser service and computer browsing across subnets

So i have a client that has a domain controller functioning as a DNS, WINS, and DHCP client for their two site network. They are "too busy" to actually migrate to the domain we set
them up from a workgroup configuration despite my assurances of a simple change over with virtually no user interruption.
They do however still want windows computer browsing services across their vpn tunnel between the two sites. Ive been pulling my hair out trying to get this done, but im starting to think its
just not possible without migrating to the domain. Any ideas?
The server is windows 2012 r2 standard and all the machines are on windows 7 professional

    Hi,
You can enable computer browsing service on workgroup computers, but as  browser service is bound by broadcast segments, a cross-site computer browsing service will not work without primary domain controller (PDC).

  • SCCP is not supported on Cisco unity express?

    Hey,
I was reading some integration (with CME or CUCM) articles on interweb and somehow I got this impression that SCCP is not supported or working well on CUE... MWI will be using SIP if CUE and CME are integrated, what about CUCM?
I checked SCCP Compatibility matrix and there is no information of CUE...
So I am here asking this questions: SCCP is not supported on unity express?
    Thanks,
    Shuai

  • Event: 4321 on Windows 8.1: The name: "exchange2010" could not be registered with this computer's IP address

We setup two new windows computers running Windows 8.1 with DHCP IP addresses:  10.13.3.108 and 10.13.3.170
Every 30 seconds we get a message that the name exchange2010 (not our workstation names) cannot be claimed on one of the IP addresses because the other IP address has the name.
I cleared Netbios, flush DNS and tried renaming the workstation with adding and removal from domain.  All have yielded no luck.
    Any thoughts?

    Hi,
This could be caused by duplicated computer name, but may be more complicated, you can try the steps to disable the computer browser
     service to clear this issue:

  • Failover Configuration

For failover configuration with Oracle 9i I have used
two database in same m/c. and the listner.ora is as following :-
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC3))
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = tcs052640)(PORT = 1521))
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora_home)
    (PROGRAM = extproc)
    (SID_DESC =
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora_home)
    (SID_NAME = SPACE)
    (SID_DESC =
    (ORACLE_HOME = D:\oracle\ora_home)
    (SID_NAME = UIIVS2)
And TNS Entry which i have used in a m/c. which has only oracle client is like the following :-
    PROD.WORLD =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (FAILOVER = TRUE)
    (LOAD_BALANCE = FALSE)
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = TCS052640)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = SPACE.WORLD)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS =
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (HOST = TCS052640)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = UIIVS2.WORLD)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
Now i am connected to SPACE from that m/c. which has only Oracle 9i client and then shutdown the database SPACE, but
after shutting down client is not dynamically connecting to the database UIIVS2,though I have written "FAILOVER = TRUE" in tnsnames.ora.
It is giving error like :-
    ORA-12571: TNS:packet writer failure
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
& when I am attempting test connection it is giving error
    ORA-01034: ORACLE not available
ORA-27101: shared memory realm does not exist
What more I have to do for connecting dynamically UIIVS2 when SPACE is down.
If the database located in separated m/c. is there anything more need to do.
    Thanks in advance.

    Guys,
have successfully done the failover, the failover parameter should be ON in the tns entries - thanks a lot for all of ur help.

    Prasenjit

  • Broken Cisco Unity / Unified Communications Manager association

We have several Cisco Unity Connection users with the following status in their profiles:
"This user's association to the co-resident Cisco Unified Communications Manager user has been broken.
Please Click Here to reassociate the orphaned user."
Clicking on the reassociation button does not show any of the users with broken associations, just a few resource users.
Is there any way to reassociate these users with CUCM without having to delete them in Unity Connection along with their mailboxes?

These are the steps I took to resolve the issue. I was particularly concerned about users losing saved messages in their voicemail. The posted solution did not give much detail on what to do.
    1) Create a new user in CUCM. For example, I have a user called 'John Doe' in the system. I created a new one called 'John Doe2'.
    2) After creating the user I associated 'John Doe2' to the phone in use by 'John Doe'. Then I set the Primary Extension as needed for that user. Hit the 'Save' button and verify that the 'Create Cisco Unity User' option shows up in the drop-down box in the right hand corner.
    3) Log into Cisco Unity Connection Administration, and select 'John Doe'. Click on the link to re-associate and select 'John Doe2'. This links the Unity user to the CUCM user.
    4) Log back into CUCM and select 'John Doe' from the user list. Remove all device associations from the user. Hit Save, then delete the user.
    5) Select 'John Doe2' and rename the user as 'John Doe'.
These steps fixed my problem. I had to do it for all the users whose association was broken. One note to make is that the voicemail PIN is automatically reset to the default I believe, which is 0000. Other than that voicemail continues to work normally and users don't have to redo their greetings and such.
