Cisco View Device Manager

Hi,
is there anybody who can tell me how to bring the Cisco View Device manager for 6500er up? I've installed the CVDM V.1.1 in the bootflash of my 6500er, IOS version is 12.2(18)SXF4 enterprise services. Installed java on the client is v.1.4.2_06. After launching the CVDM whithout proxy settings the windows starts gathering information, after a few seconds it stops with an error "java.lang.NullPointerException". This failure appeared with Mozilla 2.0.0.8 and IE 6.0, on the 6500er all vty lines are idle. Is anybody here who can help to solve the problem?

Here the text from the readme file; try to get the zip-file via the Bug-Id:

  • Windows 7 64-bit Cisco Fabric/Device Manager Installer

Does anyone know if there is Cisco Device Manager Installer compatible with Windows 7 (64-bit)? I'm trying to install Device Manager onto my Windows 7 PC. this may happen on my Fabricv Manager Installer, as well. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

    Senthil, Horacio,
I would not recommend using a 8.5(x) client against a 8.0(x) server (the OP suggests UCCE 8.0 is used). Even though they _should_ be compatible, they usually are not.
Upgrading the server side to 8.5 is the way to go IMHO.

  • SW download: unable to download Cisco View device packages and CVW patches

With the current Software Download frontend I cannot find a way to download ciscoview device packages and software patches; I can get these files through the "Software Search" feature but that's hardly what I need. To update a LMS server that is not allowed to connect to the internet it is necessary to have the option to download these device packages and patches in a bulk....
just tell me where to click.... :-)

  • Unable to open 2 9509 switches at the same time in Cisco Device Manager

    Dear Friends,
There are a pair of MDS 9509 switches whose management addresses are 172.16.2.197 and 172.16.2.198.
When we try to manage these Devices through Cisco device manager, the first device opens up without any problem, but when the second 9509 is opened in Cisco Device Manager, it fails giving the following error message:
"Open udp transport failed: Address already in use: Cannot bind"
To get around this issue, if we close the first interface to the 9509 switch, then we are able to open up the second 9509 in Device Manager.
We have this problem only in Cisco device manager. If we open one switch in Cisco device manager and the other switch in Cisco Fabric Manager, it works.
Also, we can telnet to both the devices successfully at a time.
The device manager in use is 4.1.
Please find enclosed the sh version outputs for your kind reference.
Can you please help me understand the cause of this issue?
    Thanks a lot
    Gautam

Is it always the same MDS that fails to open, or can you open either one first, and then the second one poses the problem (no matter which one is second)?
Can you try from a second work station and see if you can open DM to both switched at the same time? I suspect the address it is complaining about is the local workstation IP, not the MDS IP.
If you open the FM map, then you click on the MDS ICONs, can you open DM to both MDS?

This is by no means a full solution, but deleting and re-adding only takes a few minutes if you use the "Export Device" and "Bulk Import" features from the Device Work Center. You can export the desired devices to a CSV file, delete them, then import from the CSV.
Of course, you might lose historical data when deleting the devices, but I'm guessing that's not as relevant since the devices themselves have been replaced by different hardware.

  • Quick Question about Cisco 3560 and the Web Device Manager

Alright, I have a quick question that I am curious about but I haven't found any information
    about it.
When I log into my Cisco 3560 using the web portal to get to the Device Manager. Below the
diagram of the switch, then under the Dashboard there is section called Switch
    Health, Port Utilization.
Under the Switch Health there is Bandwidth Used, Packet Error. Those two options just sit
at zero and do not move. The Port tilization graph is also sitting at zero.
Is there a way to make them functional?

Anyone notice performance increase or decrease of their HD when using the nVidia IDE SW drivers?  particularly with a 74GB Raptor?  I've also heard of burner issues when installing the IDE SW but have not used my burner yet.

  • View-only access to Catalyst 2960/2960S device manager

I have noticed that when I access the (Web-based) device manager on a Catalyst 2960 or 2960S switch, the authentication prompt (from within IE, at least) includes the phrase, "The server <switch-hostname> at level_15_or_view_access requires a username and password." This would seem to imply that it's possible to configure view-only (a.k.a. read-only) access to the device manager, which would be perfect for first-level support personnel (in our environment). I reviewed the information on how to configure local authentication for the Web server (leveraging "ip http authentication local" among other commands), but the examples are a bit too broad for me understand how to specifically (and only) allow someone coming in via HTTP(S) to gain read-only access to the device manager. (Command line access should be denied entirely for the view-only user, if possible, or at least limited to commands that can't modify the switch's configuration.) Assuming this is possible, could someone cite the command sequence required?
    Thanks,
    Mike

Hi,a customer want a user which has view-only rights on his catalyst switches. I created a user whit privilige level 7.If you log into the CLI everything is fine. But by trying to log into the web page the system wants a level 15 user.Is their any possibility to grant the level 7 user "view-only" rights on the Catalyst Device Manager?Thanks.Thanks.

  • How to trigger other devices by Cisco Physical Access Management?

    Hi all,
A question about Cisco Physical Access Management(PAM) here. We will achieve a goal like this:
    step 1. A staff swipe the badge and get into the room;
step 2. The device in this room will be triggered to set up or to turn on at the same time, such as Ip-phone, light, screen of DMP...
step 3.(optional) When the staff exits the room and swipes the badge, all the devices will be turned off.
Is this dorable for PAM to finish this trigger? Or some more work of developing need to do based on PAM?
    Thanks!

    Hi Bharaty,
thanks for your suggestion. I tried adding the tag as you suggested, sadly it does not work for me.
I had a little look at the coding in the tag, as I hope for the solution being in there. What makes me wonder is that I can specify the attribute TIMER in the tag, but the coding does not access it. The amount of time the "Please wait..." is shown is read from the technical profile.Which is 0 in my case.
Thus I tried setting it to 5000 in the debugger, but still no spinning thingy locking the UI.
Anyhow in the Scripts repository I found the JS functions usually used to trigger the functionality:
    showSubmitInProgress(show, delay)
Even calling it directly does not work for me
I really suppose it has something to do with the area frame tag and the late rendering. It still keeps me wondering why I can not trigger server round trips from JS as I can normally do.
    cheers Carsten

  • Can Cisco Device Manager Support ACS Authentication?

    Background:
My company has approximately 500+ devices all across the country (mainly 2801's, 2924's, 2950's, and 2960's) and approx 3 people that have a real idea of how to configure the devices, and 2 or 3 that have a general clue about how to do it. I am in the process of moving all of these devices to use ACS authentication for signing into the device. While I am doing this I am establishing a strong password for the secret password to provide as a backup.
    Problem:
My supervisor would like the cisco device manager to be available to the people that don't have the in depth cli experience. However in my testing, it will only accept the strong password for its authentication, and does not try the ACS server for authentication. Is this possible?

    Hi,
Actually, there is a difference as from where the authentication is picked from for HTTP authentication,
With HTTP v1 server, same method list is picked, that is used by VTY lines.
With HTTP v1.1 server, but before the integration of fix for bug CSCeb82510, the method list defined for console is checked.
After the fix of the above mentioned bug, we have some different sent of commands that we can use.
I would suggest you to give this a try,
aaa authentication login CONSOLEandHTTP tacacs+ local
    aaa authorization exec CONSOLEandHTTP if-authenticated
    ip http authentication aaa
    line con 0
    login authentication CONSOLEandHTTP
    authorization exec CONSOLEandHTTP

  • Devices in cisco view

    Hi
what is the reason if can see  , cisco devices in cisco view while you can't see some of these devices in topology service?
    thanks in advance
    Ibrahim

    Ibrahim,
As you know some devices may not show up as connected to others due to their CDP neighbor adjacency not being determined for various reasons.
Please look under unconnected devices view on Topology to see if your "missing" devices are there. Another place you can check the same thing is within Device Center - click on the "Topology" tab near the top of the page and you should see the topology specific to that device. For something like and ASA (which doesn't support CDP), it will always show as "alone" and always be put into the Unconnected Devices view.
