Cisco VPN disconnects after a minute or so

I can access the internet with my verizon dsl but I'm having problems accessing my work network via cisco vpn software.  I can connect for a minute or two and then it kicks me off.  I'm pretty sure its something with verizon because I can hop on the free wifi and connect with the vpn no problems
Thanks

One thing that was updated recently was the antivirus software was migrated from something to Symantec Endpoint Protection.
I have a feeling you may have to contact your tech support at work to see if they have to set a parameter to their Symantec software.  Either that or when they made the upgrade it may have disabled your dsl connection if yours was set up to access our network by havin g the computer supply the user name and password.
When you used to go online did you have to select a connect button on the computer?
Another thing you may try is, select Start> run and type CMD
now type.... ping yahoo.com ......and see if you get a response. If you get a response this way, something in the software is blocking your connection

  • VPN disconnect after 1 minute with INTEL 10.4.5 to SERVER 10.4.6?

    any clue?

I've had simliar issues with VPN dropping connections, not exactly the same set up. However, always resolved by dropping the MTU size in advanced Ethernet set up on the client to custom at 1303. If it still doesn't work try this on your server too.

  • Windows 8 L2TP VPN disconnects at 60 minutes

I have 5 windows 8 machines across various domains all configured with 8-10 L2TP VPN setups to various clients networks.  Most of them are to Sonicwall firewalls but a couple are to other firewalls.  My Windows 8 machines consists of both upgrades
from Windows 7 and fresh installs.  Either way every one of my L2TP connections will disconnect at 60 minute increment, regardless of activity or inactivity, which never happened on Windows 7.  I have looked everywhere on the Sonicwalls (all of them
are on the most up to date firmware) and there is no setting for disconnecting after 60 minutes.
The issue must be with Windows 8 - just looking for a registry hack or hotfix that will fix this problem.

I also have the same problem but my timeout happens at 49 mins 54 seconds everytime. I recently switched to Windows 8 and I am facing lots of issues with the VPN.
Initially I had installed the VPN version "CISCO VPN 5.0.07.0290-k9" and my VPN would disconnect every 3 to 4 mins. Then later browsed to get the "most compatible" version of VPN "5.0.07.0440-k9" . Now also the same problem perisists. but a small improvement.
Incase I am keeping my access to the Server IP active, working on the sever and not on the local system, then my connection is active for a longer time. If I work on my local system  the connection disconnects within a minute.
Since I had to work on my local system also, I did a continuous ping on the Command Prompt and then I can now work on my Server thro VPN and also on my local system for 49 mins. I was searching for a solution when I stumbled on this chain. I am not alone,
but could not find a solution. I hope someone from Microsoft looks at this thread and give a Fix build.
Please post any alternative solution to bypass this issue.

  • IChat disconnects after 12 minutes.

Don't know what is going on, iChat opens fine, it disconnects after 12 minutes and it will not reconnect. Does any one know what I can do to solve this problem?

    Hi,
What is the time the Modem or router says it is using ?
Some devices say 24 Hours and as long at the Computer is on again before it is up it keeps the IP.
Others like an Airport say 4 hours but then do different things
Some remake the connection at renewal and can break any internet connection you have.
Also does the computer keep the Same IP when the lease does get renewed ?

  • VPN Disconnection After iPhone Locks

I'm not sure if anyone else has this issue, but a fix/explanation would be helpful.
Whenever I am on a VPN connection [with 3G as it seems EDGE doesn't want to let me connect another issue entirely] - it disconnects after about a few minutes of being locked. Part of me thinks this has to do with the issues with 3G where it switches unnecessarily.
Hopefully one of you who uses VPN experiences this as well and can help me out!
    Thanks kindly,
    Chris

Thanks for your post, I have the same problem, but when I asked IT about this, they told me that we authenticate users in a different way.
You wrote: "*The fix was to configure the Cisco firewall VPN user account to allow the client to save the password locally, you must goto the user account and un-check the "inherit" and then the option of "NO" or "YES" can be selected*"
I'm not from IT, but they told me we are using a Cisco ASA 5520 and using user validation by Radius authentication against Active Directory and IAS (Internet authentication Service)
That we don't handle user authentication by Cisco, so there is no way to tell Cisco to allow the users to store the passwords. What Cisco validates is a Group and then passes the rest to the AD.
    Any suggestion?

  • Cisco VPN Client after Windows Vista Update (KB941229)

I had the Cisco VPN client 5 installed on my laptop and configured by the IT department at work. It was working fine all day until I restarted and KB941229 was automatically installed. When it turned back on the Cisco VPN service (CVPND) would attempt to run then stop. If I started it manually it would run for about a minute then stop again. Without the service running the VPN client won't open, let alone let me connect.
I know this vista update is fairly recent so I'm not sure there will be a fix but maybe somebody can think of a workaround or some way to fix this situation.
    Things I've tried:
    1) Uninstalling the windows update
    2) restarting
    3) restarting (in denial that this was happening)
    4) configuring a vista VPN connection to attempt to connect to the company VPN (this failed too)
Uninstalling the update caused me to be unable to ping for some reason. This meant the VPN client would run but be unable to connect to the server and yet I was entirely able to access the internet locally. I reinstalled the update assuming maybe the installation went badly but that caused the same problem with the VPN service stopping itself (or being stopped) after a minute.

    Hello
    my issue has been resolved.
there is a service called Base Filtering Services running in background for Vista and has to disabled to make IP Sec VPN Client working.
after doing so it works smoothly.

  • VPN hangs after 45 minutes

I have a VPN setup using L2tp over ipsec. Using Leopard 10.5 it worked with no problem. With Snow Leopard it connects and works fine for about 45 minutes. Then it drops out. I then try to communicate with my wireless router with no success. I disconnect the VPN connection, wait 15 seconds and then reconnect. It then is OK for another 45 minutes. Should I reinstall Snow Leopard or rollback to 10.5? Any suggestions would be great.

I have this problem too. Most of the time, it fails after 48 minutes. Occasionally, it doesn't fail then, but will then fail at the 96 minute mark.

    Hello
We have answered this query many times. The problem has nothing to do with Skype or Microsoft. The local telco authorities in Saudi Arabia where you are located frequently disconnect outbound VoIP traffic to protect their own state run monopoly. Try accessing the internet via a VPN.
TIME ZONE - US EASTERN. LOCATION - PHILADELPHIA, PA, USA.
I recommend that you always run the latest Skype version: Windows & Mac

  • Video chat disconnecting after ~1 minute

Hey guys, I'm having trouble with iChat disconnecting video after ~1 minute. The problem machine is a late 2009 15" MacBook Pro running OSX 10.6.5 with everything up to date. We're on a University network and I'm able to video chat with using other computers, so I don't think it's a network issue.
When the video drops, I get the usual message that (Problem Computer) ended the video chat. iChat keeps running on the problem computer when the connection is dropped, so it's not crashing the entire application. I've tried removing iChat and reinstalling from the cd, updating with the combo updater, removing the ichat plist from ~/User/Library/Preferences. This is what the system log reports when the video is dropped:

  • Video call are disconnected after 15 minutes

    Hello,
help me pls, after 15 minutes video call disconnected every time.
    My configuration CME86 <-SIP-> CME71 <- SIP-> CUCM7.1.3.
I perform call from caller on CME86 to callee on CUCM7.1.3.
I collected debug logs on CME86 and see BYE message from callee on CUCM7.1.3.
    Disconnect cause CC/SIP: 16 /200.
    Thanks in advance

Cause code 16 is normal call clearing. Does CME71 see the same BYE from CUCM7.1.3? If yes you would need SDI/SDL traces, w/ troubleshooting traces enabled, from CUCM to figure out why it dropped the call.

  • Wireless modem disconnecting after 10 minutes consecutively...

My wireless modem is disconnecting after every 10 minutes...I just replaced the modem and cable so it is not that.
It shows as a Ethernet port connection...it is plugged into a USB port.
    Help

Interesting. I have a Macbook pro 17" and although all is fine using either of the 2 usb ports on the left, my external modem is either very slow or disconnects for no reason when I use the usb port on the right.
I think it may have occurred after I upgraded to 10.4.7 also.

  • Toshiba 42VL863 and DLNA - disconnection after 30 minutes

I have the television on the network, wired with Category 7 shielded cable, gigabit lan on a switch, such as media servers I have a Qnap TS-509 with DLNA, all connected devices (tablets, PCs, and other devices) reproduce the video stream without problems.
The TV instead: after 30 minutes of playback device tells me disconnected.
I tried everything but I can not see a whole movie.
I demand an answer from toshiba. The money I gave for this TV were not fake but good.

I just contacted the helpline for advice, in addition to not understand at all what I was saying, after making me wait a good five minutes (paying of course) they told me to turn it to the dealer because the television is not under warranty.
If this is the support that you have toshiba from their customers, I will be very happy (being an IT technician in a large company) not to recommend the 'Buy toshiba products.

  • Constant disconnect after 9 minutes

My boyfriend lives in Australia and I'm in the US - we Skype every day but it's extremely difficult
It disconnects every 8:50-9 minutes exactly during every call. A few times at 3 minutes or 6 minutes exactly. Sometimes when we call each other we cant hear each other at all and have to try again until it works - it can go on for 4-5 tries in a row. I don't know if this is Skype or a network error. It happens to us on Facebook video chat too after the same amount of time and the same issue with the occasional no audio.
My connections are fine but he's on mobile so I don't know if its his network cutting in and out or what but regardless I'd really like some help so that we can screenshare and watch DVDs together
    Help is much appreciated!!

The behavior you describe isn't normal, snc. iMovie shouldn't interrupt the import at 9 minutes. There should be no pause to "convert" to DV. That's not typical of iMovie.
The entire video should import to iMovie direct to DV files inside the Media folder, starting a new file every 9+ minutes. That's the 2GB file-size limit for iMovie clips. There should be no pause. Importing should continue until the end of the video.
That said, it's possible there's a tape flaw that is confusing iMovie. A short break in the video at 9 minutes — where you stopped shooting, advanced the tape a bit, then started taping — would cause what you describe. Or, I suppose, a tape defect. Or even, I suppose, a dirty play head that's created an imperfect recording.
    Some things to try:
    • Try using a head-cleaning tape.
    • Try recording longer than 11 minutes with a different tape, and import that. If the problem goes away, the problem is with the other tape.
    • Is the project on an external disk? Make sure the disk the project resides on uses the Mac OS Extended disk format. If it's not, iMovie may be having problems saving to disk, causing the strange pause you see.
My guess is the problem will go away with a new tape.

  • WLAN disconnect after 20 minutes of streaming with AirTunes

    Hi,
I’m using the AirTunes-Feature to stream my music form my computer to my amplifier. I’m working with a Lenovo (IBM) Thinkpad T61 with Windows XP SP2.
The streaming works well for about 20 minutes. After that my WLAN network-interface disconnects form the WLAN. I have to use the windows repair function to get iz restarted.
I’ve already disabled all energy-saving settings, updated the WLAN driver and disabled the firewall but the problem still remains. Maybe this problem isn’t really related to iTunes, but perhaps someone in this forum has an idea anyway...
Thanks a lot and best regards from Hamburg,
    Dirk

If it's every 20 minutes, that sounds like some kind of timer setting.
So look for any kind of setting that is 20 minutes?
