Cisco WAP4410N - not configurable as Wireless Client with WRT610N?

Hi!
On several workstations I use multiple network to
1 - access Internet and share Printers
2 - communicate within the local area
The second WLAN I need for several NDAS devices.
Due to their own LPX-Protocol these NDAS devices don't work properly with MAC address cloning. In combination with several access points or clients from other manufacturers Wireless N transmission does not work.
So in WLAN 2 I use the Cisco Linksys WRT 610N Router with 2.4 Ghz WLAN.
I intended to use the Cisco WAP4410N in Client Mode to connect a workstation with this router and set up NDAS connection.
Other workstations will directly connect to the router via Cisco Linksys WUSB-600N.
The connection from WUSB-600N to WRT610N works perfectly.
My problem is:
The WAP4410N does not connect to a wireless Network in Client Mode.
(It is not a problem of Channel configuration, Security or Signal strength - because if I connect my workstation via WUSB-600 this works instantly.)
If setup as an access Point it will start up sending competing to my router.
In Network Status it shows no received packages.
In Wireless Client/Repeater Mode there is no connection either.
My question is:
Is the WAP4410N not designed to be used as a Wireless Client?
An if it was - how is it to be set up as one?
Thanks

  • Cisco WAP4410N not leasing IP

    Hi,
I have 4 access points which are working in a same network with different SSIDs. Recently I found an issue that most of the day I need to restart these access points to access internet on a Mobile or computers. Also the mobiles are coming from one ssid range to another one it is not connecting and 'obtaining IP address'  status is showing. Then I need to restart AP to get connection on that particular device. I had upgraded firmware version WAP4410N-Fw-2.0.7.4-K9 in all devices. Before that all were working fine. I want to check whether my wireless security settings are correct . Please find attached screen shot .If it is happening because of my device settings or firmware issue, then please advise me to sort out this issue .
    Awaiting reply .

I've noticed an issue which may be relevant to (/ the same as) yours:
Basically for some reason the device keeps changing so that wireless clients cannot talk to each other (even within the same SSID) despite the web interface saying they can.. to fix this I go into the Wireless Security Settings.. toggle the option to isolate the clients, then turn it back so it doesn't, apply it and they can instantly talk to each other again.
It's definitely some sort of bug but I wondered if I maybe needed to factory reset after the new firmware as I have had problems before where the config hasn't been quite right after a firmware upgrade (a SG300-10 turned off a port despite the config saying it shouldn't)... saving the config off, factory resetting the device and then importing EXACTLY the same config fixed it.. I was going to give it a try if it carried on doing this but for now the workaround worked enough to not be terribly annoying.
Is your DHCP server connected via Wireless?

  • Bridge does not work for wireless clients - connecting to existing network.

Hi - I really hope somebody can help out here, after hours of trial & error, I have finally given up
I need to connect my Airport Extreme Base Station to my existing network. I have a linksys router (192.168.15.1) connected to my modem and this linksys router acts as DHCP server too.
I suppose I have to use "bridge mode" for that to work. But should the linksys be connected to the AEBS using the AEBS's WAN or LAN port?
If I use "bridge mode", then wired computers to the AEBS works fine - getting an IP from the linksys etc. BUT, the wireless clients will have a self-assigned IP and not get through to the internet. It's like the AEBS will not allow wireless clients to "get through" unless AEBS itself is handing out IP addresses.
Page 36 of this manual ( http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/DesigningAirPort_Networks10.5-Windows.pdf ) shows the setup I want. But in the picture, it says "Ethernet WAN port" but the text says: "The Apple wireless device (in this example, a Time Capsule) uses your Ethernet network to communicate with the Internet through the Ethernet LAN port ( <--> )." I don't know which one to use, WAN or LAN - they show WAN but say LAN?
When I set it up as "share an IP address", the AEBS status tells me "double nat" and to change from "shared IP" to "bridge mode". I do that, and everything seems fine - for the wired clients. Now the wireless clients cannot connect, Airport on the MacBook Pro just say "Connection failed" and the MacBook says "Invalid password" (translated from danish), even though I set the Airport Utlity to save the password in keyring, so it should be correct... If I disable wireless encryption, the wireless clients will connect but get a self-assigned IP, and therefor not work (cannot get online)...
It seems the only way I can get wireless to work, is if I set AEBS up as DHCP, but then it won't be on the "same network" as the linksys (192.168.15.1), but rather on 10.0.x.x as I select. If I select 192.168.x.x within AEBS, I'm also getting some error messages, conflict/subnet thing.
Anyway - I really hope somebody knows how to get wireless clients to get an IP address from existing ethernet when connected to the AEBS.
    Thanks!!

I've given up and had to go back to running "Double NAT" which also reports as a "problem" within the AEBS, but I just "ignore" it so the light will always be green.
It still ***** though, as "Double NAT" is also a reason for "Back to my Mac" not working properly, but how the ** am I supposed to avoid Double NAT when the wireless will not work in bridged mode?!

  • Need help configuring: 2 wireless routers with 2 different SSID's on one network

    Hello everyone:
I've been reading around on the forum trying to find the answer to this question, but have not found any clear cut answer that satisfies all my requirements.  A more in-depth explanatiion.
I have 1 IP address coming in via cable modem.  I want to configure two wireless routers (one secured with WPA-TKIP, and one unsecured--a "guest network" if you will) each with different SSID's.  The secured network would be for my server, home PC's, IP webcams, DynDNS updating; while having an unsecured wireless router that friends and family can access.  Ideally, I do not want anyone who accesses the unsecured wireless router to be able to get access into my secured network.
Can someone please tell me if this is possible.  I think it is based on some posts I have already seen, but specific details about how to do it would be appreciated.  Additionally, my DynDNS has to still be able to update with my ISP's IP so that I can access my server and home webcams.
    EQUIPMENT
    2 - WRT54G
    1 - EZXS55W
    1 - WVC200
    1 - WVC54GC
(all of my stuff --webcam, server, dyndns, etc -- is working currently on my secured network. I just need to add the unsecured network)
I know this is a lot, but I would appreciate any help.  THANKS.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

You must have the main WRT54G router connected to the modem. Set up the secured wireless network on the main router. Connect all your wireless computers or devices to the main secured wireless network.
Let's consider the IP address of the main router is 192.168.1.1.
Now connect only one computer to the Port 1 on second wireless router.
Open the setup page of the second wireless router. Change the wireless settings, SSID, unsecured.
Change the IP address of the second router to 192.168.2.1. Save the settings.
Connect the cable from the Ethernet port on the main router to the Internet port on second wireless router.
Power cycle the second wireless router.
Now the guest computers connected to the second wireless unsecured wireless network will be able to access the Internet only. They will not able to see the computers or devices connected to the first wireless router.

  • WiFi problems - Wireless clients with .local extension?!

    Hi,
I'm using a Time Capsule with Firmware 7.6.4. Since a few weeks it noticed droputs in my WiFi. It mostly noticeable when I stream videos using my Apple TV and once every 10 minutes the stream stops and needs a minute to buffer again.
I used the Aiport utility tool as well as WiFi diagnostics and the only thing I noticed is that I have a few wireless clients being listed with a .local extension. Could that be the cause of the problem? How can I resolve this?
    Thanks!

  • Can not connect to wireless networks with ipad 2

My ipad used to connect to the wireless net at home and in public areas.
Now all by the sudden it can't "see"  the network.
Message: " could not connect to wireless network"
I have tried "everything" also on different networks,
    except resetting the modem.
My iPhone works, as do all my other computers.
    Modem is Zyxel P2812

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • VVX handset initiated call will not connect to Lync client with simultaneous ring enabled

Has anyone encountered a similar issue? And any advice on how to fix it please? (note - a case has been logged with Polycom, but weeks are passing by and they have not provided any useful response so far; hence reaching out in
the community for help) .... thanks in anticipation.
    Here's the scenario:
A Lync 2010 user in the office (I'll call her Lisa) has setup her Sim Ring to an external number (her mobile number).
Another Lync 2010 user in the office (Mike) calls Lisa's extension from his VVX410.
Lisa answers the incoming call using her Lync client with a USB headset.
The call appears to connect according to Mike and his VVX screen starts the call timer.
Lisa's Lync client just says "Connecting Call ..."  but never actually connects.
The line is silent for both Mike and Lisa.  There is no audio in either direction.
    Further testing reveals the following:
The same problem occurs if Lisa uses a VVX handset to answer and also happens if she uses a CX600 handset to answer.  Hence the problem seems to relate specifically to the fact that Lisa has setup Sim Ring to an external number; rather than relating
    to the answering device type.
If Lisa changes her Sim Ring so that it calls another internal extension, then the problem does not exist, i.e. calls connect fine.  Hence it seems to be specific to sim ring to an external number.
The environment is Lync Server 2010 CU6, Lync client 2010 on Win 7 (although the same problem exists when tested with a Lync 2013 on Win 8.1 client); and with AudioCodes Mediant 2000 and 1000 gateways.

Please specify another external number for Simultaneously Ring.
You phone may not have permission to dial an external phone number.
Please check if you can call the external phone number directly.

  • Configure WRT54G Wireless Router with PUBLIC IP address and use DHCP for internal computers

Hi,I have an Internet online service with 5 public IP addresses. The router and the AP are connected to a switch. I would like to configure a WRT54G wireless router with one of this IP public Address and use DHCP (with private ip address)  for the computers that will connect to the AP. As the AP is connected to the switch it is possible that other wired computers that are connected to the same switch can obtain an IP address from the DHCP ?
     Thansk in advance

Thanks for your help. Please correct me if Im wrong. After connecte the equipments the way you suggestI setup a static IP address (The public IP)  in the WRT54GI enable DHCP in the WRT54G with a range from 10.10.0.100 to 10.10.0.200 (as an example) The gateway is the Public IP address right ? How do I route the 10.10.0.x addresses to the public IP address. Thansk again

  • J2se version="1.6+" in JNLP not working on a client with Java 1.5

    Hi all,
In my deployment scenario I have two jnlp files, one for the app and one for its installer extension. The deployment process works fine on a client with J2SE 1.6 but there are some problems when the client has an older Java installed.
I am trying to enforce a J2SE 1.6 version for my app deployed with WebStart and I have found that
    <j2se version="1.6+" ...> has no effect.
The solution that I have found was to change "1.6+" into "1.6.***" and thus the JWS will download and install JRE 1.6 (however I was expecting it to download the latest JRE (update 16) but it installs 1.6 update 7).
    Could anybody confirm that?
    Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I think Sun should update the auto-downloaded jre from 6u7 to the latest one.
But this is a minor issue. The problem from my post is that you cannot impose a j2se version number 1.6 or greater. IOW <j2se version="1.6+" ... > has no effect. I have tested this on a clean win xp machine that had installed only j2se 1.5.
I think it is a bug in jws but I want to check this issue with others.

  • Use of Cisco Aironet AP1242AG as a wireless client

Hi guys! I am in possession of two cisco Access points (AP1242AG) and I would like to use them to replace my current configuration (in the first picture) in our family home. Currently I have two Asus Eee boxes that act as "repeaters".
It works so far, but it is not so stable and increases the latency. I tried to setup one of the Cisco access points as repeater, but without success.
It says that cisco repeater communicates only with Cisco equipment.
My second idea was to try something most simple. I disabled the security settings on D-link router and tried to setup the AP1242 as Universal Workgroup Bridge client, where Radio0 would connect to Router D-LINK 600, and crossover cable would connect AP1242 and the Asus Box.
I managed to configure trough HyperTerminal, and it did associate (Cisco with D-Link), I was able to see the Cisco Web interface over LAN on that asus box, however I was not able to access internet. Then I tried to enable the other Radio1, and set it up as Access point and bridge those two radios, but that did not help either.  What am I doing wrong?
This is actually how I would like to have it: Radio0 as Universal WGB client, and Radio1 as Access Point.
If that is not an option, i could connect the asus box with LAN cable to AP1242 and make it act as Virtual AP.
3rd option, is to connect two Cisco Access Points together with LAN cable. One of the would connect to Router as Universal WGB, and the other would be what it supposed to be - Access Point
The reason why I would like to use Cisco in this role is because I believe that cisco has better output power (send/receive) and it would be more stable, and possibly faster. If you have any better idea how I could use this 2 access points, feel free to suggest. It is a shame to have them in my drawers instead od using them.
I attached pictures of 3 possible scenarios, and current configuration of the AP1242AG #1
I am new to Cisco equipment, so I really thank you for your time and help!

    Thanks for the response.
Everything works fine if I use your suggested setup but I need the TC in the office, and the DSL modem downstairs. An ethernet connection is not possible this way, and the printer in the living room isn't really a nice piece of furniture
I think, there is no possibility to use the wireless as uplink and the TC as a router/DHCP-server...
Probably I need a server computer to handle the connection between the wireless LAN created by the DSL modem and an ethernet network managed by the TC.
Hopefully someone has an idea/solution that fixes my problem.
    meanwhile I keep looking......

  • Multiple Wireless Clients with packetloss - started on Patch Tuesday

We have a 4402 WLC that has been running 7.0.230.0 code for 90+ days without issue.  There is a mixture of 3502 and 1142 AP's on a campus style complex.  Starting May 15 2012 we have had an influx of calls from the wireless users having major packetloss when on wireless.  The odd thing is that it is not all users and it is only occuring on one of our SSID's  (the most important one).
So far TAC says there are no know bugs that match this issue in the code.  We dont think it is code either since for months we have been stable.  We have upgraded the wirless drivers on several of the machines running W7 and those seem to be more stable.
The big question is WTH caused all of these clients to have driver issues when they were fine last week?

    Sean,
why do you say that it´s a packet loss situation?
