Hi , i've a customerthat has A.P. Cisco 1142 , 1240, 1242, with a WISM WLC 4400 series and a server with sw WCS.
He would like to use this infrastructure to implement a solution of Location trcking wth TAG RFID to locate person insde his site for safety reasons.
What i need to know is:
- Is  it possible to do what he customer wants with his infrstructure ?
- Which other components he needs ?
- Which are  the compatibles TAG RFID that hecanuse withhis infrastructure ?
- What kind of loction sw he can use or integrae with ?
Thanks

  • Cisco Prime NCS + Location Tracking

I havent been able to find a straight answer in regards to using NCS and location tracking for RFID and wireless clients.
    We currently have a 5508 with 3502i AP's
We would like to add some location based tracking. I understand that WCS will support it, but we would like to move to the new NCS so we can also manage our switches with in 1 appliance (and save on cost).
Can anyone tell me what I need to get this going?
    Cheers

NCS can be seen like WCS 8.0, it supports everything WCS was supporting and more.
Current NCS 1.0 can only monitor switches and use them for location tracking. However, future NCS versions will be able to more fully manage switches and future NCS versions are targeted to become a merge between WCS and LMS.

  • Remote Office with Location tracking and WIPS

    Hey guys,
I have a question about Cisco wireless for remote offices. My client is switching to Cisco for their wireless. The services that is going to be needed are location tracking and WIPS and data. The data part may come later and it is not approved yet. For now, it is going to be just location tracking for rogue devices etc and wIPS.
I know for data we can do Flexconnect, but for location tracking and wIPS, how are we going to deploy this? Does Flexconnect APs would be able to do LBS and wIPS services and data?
We currently have Moto APs deployed with 3 radios which is capable of LBS, wIPS, and data. Basically, the 3rd radio does the LBS and wIPS. Also, we are using the RF-Domain Manager per branch office. I am not sure if Cisco has something similar.
    Thanks

So, you could do FlexConnect for the remote offices, but RLDP (wired detection) might not work:

Domain Manager should be similar to PI:

  • Resume location tracking when Map control is in foreground again

As windows phone 8.1 does not have background location tracking, so then how to track the current user position, routes travelled, distance covered, time remaining etc. once
the user comes back to our app foreground, because once in background we only play with geofences, so how to resume with the correct data(like the user location, maproutes etc) in the foreground again if the user comes back to our app and has travelled certain
    distance.
Any help or knowledge on the same.
    Thanks In Advance.

Why not use Background Task to refresh your current location: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/xaml/hh977056.aspx

  • Location tracking

    Hello
(We are getting a site survey)
    Please see attached document
I need clarification on Location tracking
I am putting in an 802.11b/g wireless network to provide good data throughput for wireless clients
I also have a functional requirement to locate Rogue APs. At present the Location tracking device is unable to accurately detect rogues as they were deployed for coverage only. The network operators are spending a lot of time investigating the threat that rogues are on the floor only to find they are outside the building
I need to justify the expenditure of placing APs on the perimeter so that it's easy to identify if a Rogue AP is internal or external. If it's internal I am not that concerned with the accuracy as this will be taken care of with a visit to site by the network security team to investigate.
The AP deployment will be more of a coverage deployment in the centre of the floor
And a location tracking deployment on the perimeter.
I am considering putting the APs in monitor mode as I believe the receive sensitivity is increased in this mode so I will not require as many APs on the perimeter.
Does this sound like a good approach?
Can this be achieved without placing APs on the perimeter and calibrating the Location Appliance?

    Mark,
Placing the ap's in the perimeter will give you a better chance at knowing if the rouges are in or outside the perimeter wall. I wouldn't say it is 100% but it will give you a better reading that what you already have deployed. Again a site survey will really tell you if your mock up location will work or not, I think the biggest thing is that from every location you see at least 3 ap's at a -75db or better. Putting the ap's in monitor mode is fine especially on the right side of your drawing where you have dense areas. On the left side of your drawing, you can maybe put those in local mode to help with coverage and density if that is an issue. Calibration of the LA so far to me is a 50/50.... I have calibrated floor in which the location was worse than if I didn't and vice-versa.
You can also place your perimeter and then move your existing in more of a uniform pattern. Again... this depends on the survey... you might not need as much.

  • Cisco ISE 1.2.1 solution BYOD

    Hi there.
I wanna setup Cisco ISE 1.2.1 solution for my wireless users. The solution will have 2 SSID.
    SSID: Guest
This will be used with guest portal and self registration portal for guests. dedicated VLAN or dAcl will be applied
    SSID:Employee
This will be used for all corporate devices with corporate machine certificates (EAP-TLS) corporate dAcl will be applied (permit ip any any)
This will also be used for BYOD devices. All devices that dosent have corporate machine certificate needs to authenticate by PEAP and MSCHAPv2. The device will go trough self provisiong process and gets BYOD certificate from dedicated BYOD CA server by SCEP. dAcl will be applied that only gives access to the internet.
I wanna hear about your experiences about this kind of setup. Pros and cons. What do you think?

    1. PEAP is definitely a protocol that is protected and secure. The difference from EAP-TLS is that it only requires a server-side certificate which is used to create the secure (TLS) tunnel. After the tunnel is build then credentials are passed via the inner method which is usually MS-CHAPv2:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Protected_Extensible_Authentication_Protocol
    2. Once authentication happens then wireless traffic encryption would be handled by the encryption method chosen on the WLC which is usually AES:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advanced_Encryption_Standard3. I don't have a configuration example that I can share since there are many different variables that can alter the configurations. For instance, certificate templates being used, AD structure, certificates used for PEAP, etc. Below are some sample documentations that I found on Cisco's site. They reference ACS but they should still give you a good idea on what is needed:http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/5500-series-wireless-controllers/113670-eap-authentication-00.html
https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11567346/ise-and-eap-tlsI have also heard good things about Lab Minutes videos even though I have not watched them myself:http://www.labminutes.com/video/sec/ISE4. Yes, you can have ISE nodes communicate and sync over MPLS. You just need to make sure that you have enough bandwidth and that your round trip delay is less than 150ms5. I am not sure if it is possible NOT to show the guest credentials when registering for a guest account. I know they can be send via e-mail or sms but not aware of a way to prevent them from showing up on the screen.Thank you for rating helpful posts!

  • Upgrade path for Cisco Secure ACS 4.X Solution Engine 1113 Appliance.

    Hello,

Need to know the upgrade path for the same. As per my information ACS 4.1(1) runs on windows server and releases post to 5.X uses Linux. Please guide how can i upgrade Appliance 1113 from 4.1 to 5.x

    Hi,
Cisco ACS 1113 appliance doesn't support ACS 5.x version. 1113 appliance supports till ACS 4.2.1 version.
Cisco ACS SE 1120/1121 appliance models are required for ACS 5.x
The upgrade path for ACS 4.1 to 4.2.1 version can be found in the following link :

  • Is location-tracking going to be fixed in iPhone 3G, latest iOS patch doesn't support my phone.

I have an iPhone 3G running 4.2.1 and I'd like to be able to patch the location-tracking without jailbreaking my phone. I noticed the latest patch that fixes the 4 and 3GS doesn't support my phone. Does anyone know (Apple?) if there will be a patch for my phone that is only 2 years old.

I don't believe there will be any further patches for the 3G. Us 3G owners seem to be out of luck.

  • How can I turn off location tracking by Apple?

How can I turn off location tracking by Apple? Is is possible to roll the software back prior to Apple installing location tracking? I am very unhappy with this change by Apple. I know they probably included a reference to it in one of the user agreements, but this should have been clearly stated and offered a way to opt out. Anyway, any help on this would be appreciated.

Yeah, I do see your point. I personally feel perfectly safe using my iPhone wherever I go however I would consider that my usage is a lot less than the average user. I've had the phone for a year and have only made a total of 5 hours worth of calls and have only taken it out of my city one or twice. So for me I don't see any privacy concerns.
From reading the privacy statement though it seems that Apple are adamant that the collection of the geographical data etc is 99% personal information free. They use the term "non-personal information" and for that 1% where someone's personal information does somehow become mingled with their geographical location/movements etc Apple state that this information would be handled as though it was your credit card details or your social security number etc until such time as it's no longer combined.
"If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined."
But, I do agree with the fact that Apple really should have made us more aware of this. Instead we have found out through scientists and their research... that, coupled with the fact that no other smartphone collects this information hasn't helped either.
I will continue to use my iPhone as normal though... I am personally confident in Apple's commitment to privacy. I know not all share this view and that's fine. We all have our own perceptions of the implications of technology...
To answer your question about rolling back your software though that can be done. Might be a bit of a headache though and I'm not the best person to help with that. I'm sure there's some good information here though. Good luck!

  • Location tracking won't shut off

    Hi all,
Could someone please help me with this? I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but I noticed it yesterday afternoon. Usually, when I'm running apps that require my location, the status bar usually shows an icon saying that location tracking is on, but when the app is closed, within a few minutes, that icon in the status bar will go away. However, as of yesterday, it's showing that even when I don't have any apps open. How can I get location tracking off when apps aren't using it?

Thanks! Based on that, I was able to figure out the culprit, it appears to be Around Me. However, now I'm confused. I've also got Facebook and a few other apps that are set to always as well, but they aren't tracking my location now. Why not? It looks like never is self-explanatory, while using is while you have the app running whether or not it's in the background, and always is always, but Around Me is the only app tracking my location right now, even though there are at least 3 other apps that also have the location tracking set to always.

  • IPhone 3G Location Tracking Fix?

    Hi,
I have just seen a new firmware has been released to stop the location tracking bug.
How do we stop this location tracking bug on the iPhone 3G?  iOs 4.3 stopped support for it - I hoped the 4.2.8 would install but no such luck.
    Chris

I really do agree with Chris on this, encrypting it on the pc or mac has nothing to do with apple still being able to track us. and turing off location tracking only stops the app's from tracking NOT APPLE
its not my fault that apple comes out with a new phone every year and stops supporting thier old ones after 2-3 years.
might as well just stop buying the iphone 4 and wait for the iphone 4gs in september,   yes the 4GS    apple is to lazy to really upgrade, just a new processor, just to make as much cash as they can
I know what my next phone will be         DROID

I made " shutdown " then wait the message to press 4 seconds power button to turn it off. This morning, nothing come up.
I see one thing in the console "Press <SpaceBar> to update BIOS." after that, blank. No bios detection, no harddrive dectection, no windows boot.
    Any idea ?
    Thank you

    No, I'm sur.
Then we have version 1113 of ACS.
