CISCO WIP310 unable to connect to any wireless network

Hi all,
I just purchased a brand new WIP310 phone. I followed User Guide instructions on how to join the phone to a wireless network but I always get a "failure connecting to the router" message. I do have a CISCO 1841 with HWIC-AP-G-E card and I created an open SSID for the phone. The SSID is actually not broadcasted, but I get the same failure message from the phone even when the SSID is broadcasted. The SSID is completely open, no security at all. I tried switching the Dot11Radio Interface to any possible radio channel, from 1 to 13. Again same result. The phone is running firmware 5.0.8 and when I try to upgrade it, I get a success message from the gui, but rebooting the phone always shows the same old firmware. Any idea? I even tried several Access Point with the same bad result. Thanks

Hi Marco,
actually it took me quite a long time to understand what the problem was. I found that on my CISCO AP i had to put "payload-encapsulation dot1h" on the radio interface to get the WIP310 communicate with the AP.
By the way It seems to me that the phone is a little buggy from the wireless point of view. Sometimes i have to try several times before getting the phone connected to the AP. Once the phone gets connected it's pretty stable, but getting it connected it's a nightmare :-)
Try with the above ption if you have a Cisco AP. Also try different channels on the AP...it might help
Hope this will help you
regards
Nicola

  • Airport does'nt want to connect to ANY wireless network

    hello there.
once more someone writing who is experiencing problems with the macbooks incorporated airport.
after joining a 3rd party wifi and returning home, my macbook is unable to connect to ANY wifi network. the bar is completely grey, but airport finds all available networks. in the network dialog appears "airport is active, but not connected to any network", indicated by a red lamp. i am also not able to connect to my network's router typing its local ip in the browser.
rebooting hundreds of times, removing all networks from the list and re-adding my WEP-secured home network did not solve the problem.
i also tried almost all solutions apple offers to fix airport problems including installing the newest firmware, but all this resulted the same.
in the diagnostics, airport seems to work normally, exept that i cannot connect to any network. furthermore, now my macbook does not accept the (correct!!!) WEP for the wifi, telling me that it is invalid - i tried it with and without the "$" in the beginning.
does anybody have an idea how to bring me back online?
    gracias, benbanderas

IM having a very similar problem myself! i have my Macbook for around a year now and i have never actually had any problems with it apart from the wireless connection. my router is a speedtouch 576 and i have never been able to pick up a signal.
I dont fully know how to connect it to a wireless network even if there was signal because I have never been able to go online wirelessly. when i do get a signal a bar appears then disapears several times and when i try to connect it says password is wrong even though it might be correct (using all different 128's and using the $ )
not sure if it is a hardware roblem but I wondered if i could take it to an apple care store and see what they think about it. perhaps thats the best thing you could do if you have applecare?

  • Macbook air is unable to connect on hidden wireless network

    Dear users and support,
I have just bought my macbook air with lion os already installed, but I am unable to connect to hidden wireless network. Is there any trick to fix it? even though I am typing the name and password it's unable to login.
    Please advice.
    tks,

Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
Take all the applicable steps in this support article.
    Step 2
If you're running OS X 10.8.4 or later, run Wireless Diagnostics and take the remedial steps suggested in the summary that appears, if any. The program also generates a large file of information about your system, which would be used by Apple Engineering in case of a support incident. Don't post the contents here.
    Step 3
This step will erase all your settings in the Network preference pane. Make a note of them before you begin, and recreate them afterwards. It may be helpful to take screenshots of the preference pane.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "SystemConfiguration" selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Reset the System Management Controller.

  • I'm unable to connect to my wireless network

I am unable to connect to my wireless network on my iphone 4.  It worked previously. My husband has no problem with his iphone connecting.

Same here. Upgraded 2 separate iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and now both get an error that say "incorrect password" when trying to connect. iPad 1 upgraded to iOS5 and all 3 macs connect fine using same password. (Router is Apple Airport base station running 7.5.2)

  • Can't connect to any wireless network after waking from sleep

I have a Netgear wgr814 wireless router and a Powerbook 12" 867mhz. A few months ago, every once in a while when the PB awoke from sleep, it would not be able to connect to any wireless networks. My network showed in the airport menu, but the computer would not connect to it. I believe that the network settings show a self assigned IP of 169.x.x.x. Usually I can see 4 networks in the airport menu, but when it gets in this state only mine shows. Nothing I did on the computer side could make the computer reconnect: renew dhcp, restart, reseat airport card, etc.
After trial and error I found that if I restarted my router, the pb would reconnect and all would be well. The problem occurred about once a week for a while. Since resetting the router fixed the problem I thought that it may be my router so I updated the firmware. After doing so, the problem didn't occur for about a month, but now it happens at least once per day. Resetting the router always fixes the problem. I don't have to do anything to the PB. Once the router comes back up the PB obtains its IP and is happy again.
I'll mention that a Dell Laptop on the same network never has any issues and when the PB loses connection the Dell is always fine.
What could be doing this? My PB is over 3 years old, so is the airport card starting to die? That's the only thing I can think of.

    hi there
alright.... I tried a bunch of things and I'm not exctly sure what I did that did the trick, but I got the problem solved. I turned off the WPA encryption on the AP. Then I turned it back on with a different password.
I wonder if the first password I had was too short and that was some how causing confusion.

  • Can't connect to any wireless networks

My macbook pro can't connect to any wireless networks outside of my home router. I've just taken it on holiday and I can't use it in any free wireless coffee shops or hotels.
Whenever i select a network it shows it's connected with black bars in the radar icon but I cant access the internet or mail. Most frustrating is it's working fine in windows when I use boot camp.
    I hope someone can help

Sometimes they can be stored in your Router and/or Modem, but having them in your Mac makes it so you don't have to rely on what's in or not in other's Routers.
    I don't understand DNS...
Simply put.. you type in apple.com, your Browser goes out to a DNS Server somewhere with the request to link to the number of that name, then comes back with 17.254.3.183... if you ever wonder, you could type in that 17.254.3.183 IP, if it doesn't load Apple, then you are not connected to the Internet, yet if it does, and apple.com doesn't... then it's just that nothing is looking up the addy!

  • Unable to connect to home wireless network with my iPod touch

I've had my iTouch for several months now and I'm still not able to connect to my wireless network at home. I've tried the resets and other suggestions I've found in the discussion groups but nothing has worked.
I have an older Netgear Router MR814v2 and it is unsecured. It is attached to my old desktop, HP Pavilion running Windows ME, which is not able to run the itunes software. My HP laptop is where my iTouch and iTunes software is installed.
The iTouch displays my network with good signal strength, but when I try to connect I get the "unable to join the network "NETGEAR".
Going to my router, it does not recognize my iTouch as an attached device. Why is that and what am I missing?
Thank you for all suggestions and your help.

I tried powering down the router. When it's off the iTouch does not recognize the network and then when it's powered on again, the iTouch recognizes the network. Unlike the public wi-fi spots that my iTouch responds to, where all the info like IP Address, Subnet Mask, Router, DNS etc are populated in the settings...my iTouch does not populate these fields at home even though it recognizes the network. I still get the unable to connect to network error. Could it be that my router is antiquated and can not support the iTouch? Like I said earlier, my Router does not recognize the iTouch as being attached to it.

  • Unable to connect laptop to wireless network

My MacBook Pro will not connect to my wireless network, but my iPad does so I know it must be a problem with my computer rather than the network. Any suggestions?
I'm not sure if there is some obscure setting that I need to change.

    Give us more information, please.
Is your wireless network supplied by your ISP, your landlord, your own router, or something else?
What can you tell us about the settings on your wireless network? (Not the passwords.)
Did this ever work, or is this the first time you have tried to connect the MBP to this wireless network?
What model/year MBP is this? It has to be somewhat old if it is running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) as per your profile.

  • Apple TV(3) No longer connecting/locating ANY wireless networks

    Hi all,
I recently purchased a Motorola modem and replaced it with a rented one form comcast, and for some reason my Apple TV is no longer able to connect to either my network (via an airport express and Comcast connection) or locate any other wireless networks in our area. I live in an apartment complex, so it should be able to see quite a few.
Here is what I have tried so far:
    1. Restart Apple TV
    2. Reset (not restore) Apple TV
    3. Reset airport router
    4. Reset modem
    5. Un-plug/re-plug coax (internet) cable from the wall
    6. Relocate the Apple TV within my electronics set-up
I don't have an extra Ethernet port on my modem, so I have yet to try hard wiring the Apple TV as it would require disconnecting the Internet.
    Any ideas???

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
There has been a recall of a small number of Apple TV 3 units that are unable to detect wifi. Please provide the 3rd and 4th characters of your serial number, as well as the last 4 characters, I’ll check if it is on the recall list for you.
Your serial number can be found at settings > general > about, if you can access it, or on the box or the device itself (quite small).
Alternatively you can contact an authorised reseller or you can also contact your nearest official retail store to check for qualifying models. You should note that all Apple TV models are not eligible for the replacement.

  • Unable to connect to new wireless network in Mountain Lion with Photosmart C4780

I have a Photosmart C4780 and have just upgraded my imac to Mountain Lion. HP are not providing new drivers for my printer as they say it will work with Mountain Lion. I have downloaded software updates. However, I have just changed my wireless network as I have a new broadband provider but am unable to connect to it. My problem is that the set up assistant software provided which I used originally to set up does not work with Mountain Lion.
    Any ideas please?

I have solved my problem, I've bought an Epson. It works perfectly. If HP can treat their customers with such disinterest and contempt I don't want to give them my money.

  • Macbook (10.4.11) unable to connect to one wireless network

We have one student who is unable to connect to our student wireless network. He's using a Macbook (black) with 10.4.11 and all updates. He's got a stock Airport card. We have an Airport Extreme broadcasting the network. Other students are able to connect without any problem. He's able to connect to our teacher's network without any problem.
When we try to connect his airport to the student network, it reports "There was an error joining the AirPort network 'Riverstone Students'." No further information is provided. I've tried removing it from his preferred networks, removing the key from the keychain, and reconnecting, but no change.
    Any suggestions gratefully received!

Just found out a little info about my work network. We are using a SMC Network 8014 W-G broadband modem and a Linksys WAP11 Wireless Access Point, and the security is WEP. I have tried to login to the device webpage to check/adjust settings but nobody here knows the password and "admin" doesn't work. I really don't want to do a hard reset and take the chance of screwing up the network for everybody in the office (apparently it was quite complicated to set up when they first installed it, I wasn't around then). Does anybody have any other ideas? Thanks

  • Why is my iphone 4 unable to connect to my wireless network?

When I try to join my wireless network it say ' unable to join network' . I had no problem connecting with my laptop.

Try rebooting the router. Just unplug the power for a few seconds and reconnect. It does no harm.

  • My ipad2 was working fine last night, but this morning is unable to connect to ANY wifi networks (though it can detect them).  All typical solutions fail.  What can i do?

My ipad2 was working fine last night, but this morning when I woke it up... it no longer was connected to my network.  While it can detect networks, it cannot connect to any (have tried at home and at work).  I have tried: resetting router, resetting ipad, forgetting network, renewing lease on network, ensuring airplane mode is off, resetting network settings, turning wifi on/off.  None of the typical solutions I can find online seem to work.  HELP!

You've gone through all of the basics. You might look at this document regarding potential issues with wi-fi environments.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199
If none of that works, and if a device restore doesn't work, it's time for a trip to the Genius Bar.

  • Unable to connect to Office Wireless Network (802.1x) after Windows Update

Hi, my notebooks are on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit. We have only recently started Windows Updates.
We are on a Wireless network 802.1x.
In the past, we are able to do the following steps :
    1. Open the "connections are available" window by clicking on the wireless icon (signal bars with yellow sun)
    2. Right click on the desired network and choose properties
    3. Change settings (eg. MEAP or use local Windows credentials etc)
    4. Click connect to connect
Now, from the "connections are available" window, when we right click on the desired Network, only "connect" is shown.
In this case, I cannot connect to the network as the settings are wrong, if I cannot connect to the network how do I change the settings ?
    Please kindly advise

    Hi,
    I agree with britishdhez.
In addition, I would like to confirm which update caused this issue. Is it a driver update? I suggest installing driver update from the manufacturer's website.
You can also reinstall the wireless driver:
    a. Click Start, type "devmgmt.msc" (without quotation marks) in the Search bar and press Enter.
    b. Expand "Network adaptor".
    c. Right click on your network card and then click Uninstall
    d. Remove the driver software at the same time.
After that, restart the computer and reinstall the network card driver.
Meanwhile, you may run the Network troubleshooter to see if it can help diagnose and solve your problem:
Using the Network troubleshooter in Windows 7
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-sg/windows7/using-the-network-troubleshooter-in-windows-7
Also, please remove the wireless network profile for a test.
    Delete a profile
    At the command prompt ( Win+ R-->CMD ), type:
    netsh wlan delete profile name="ProfileName"
For you reference: Netsh Commands for Wireless Local Area Network (wlan)

    Hope it helps.
