  • Cisco PI v2.2 Network Topology Maps

    Good afternoon,
I have Cisco PI v2.2 installed on a VM and working fine.  I want to add my Network Topology Maps to the main dashboard for ALL users, but I can only see them when logged in as root.  How can I get a "standard" user to be able to view these topology maps?
    Thanks,
    John L.

Dashboards are unique to users. Each user need to set his Dashboard accordingly.
If multiple user's share a common username to login, they should be able to see the same topology map.
In case you want to allow the other users with different roles and groups, you can edit the group they belong to and add Network Topology Map to their permission.
You can see the groups and their permissions under :
Administration > Users, Roles & AAA
Roles who has access to Network Topology: The Network Topology menu will be available to users with below roles:
    Admin
    ConfigManagers
    SystemMonitoring
    SuperUsers
    Root

I can't unse this version of java plug-ins because in a screen of Campus
Manager said you need to install java 1.5. I deinstalled all plug-ins of Java of my notebook an then install only plug-ins that LMS 3.1 have jre-1_5_0_15-windows-i586-p_withvbj.exe
Only with this plug-ins, Topology map is working now.

  • Network topology map Cisco Prime Infrastructure

Hi just want to inquire if it is possible to create a network topology map on cisco prime infrastructure's dashboard that will display both wired and wireless devices or do we need another cisco product to accomplish it.
    Thanks

At long last, Prime Infrastructure 2.2 was released yesterday (17 December 2014) and now includes the Topology map feature:
"Cisco Prime Infrastructure provides a visual map that allows you to view the physical network topology, including the network devices and the links that connect them. The topology maps have indicators that show the current alarm status of network devices and links. By using the network topology maps, you can easily monitor your network by viewing alarms and viewing the interconnection between the devices." (Link)
I'm migrating a system now and will open a new thread with first impressions.

  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure 2.2: How to rebuild Topology Maps?

    Hello everyone,
I have a problem with the Topology Map feature introduced in PI 2.2. There are switches/devices in the topology map wihtout a single managed link. The device just sits there all alone. I think this must be some issue with the topology map building process, since all my switches are connected directly to the core switches and some of them show up with managed links and some do not. All the switches are basically configured the same and run the same software image (15.0(2)EX4, 15.0(2)EX4). I would like to rebuild the topology maps from scratch to see if there is an issue with the topology data already stored in the database. Is there a switch in PI that triggers a rebuild of the topology maps? Of course, any other solution or hint is appreciated as well.
    - Benjamin
PS: Google didn't come up with an answer on this one and I couldn't find a solution in the PI documentation, that's why I'm asking here :)

I think I found the solution: All the switches without a managed link are connected via vPC to the NEXUS Core. So obviously vPCs are not shown in the topology maps ...

  • LMS 4.2 bent or crooked Topology Map links

    Hello all,
I'm trying to include as much info as I can, so forgive the lengthy post. I have an ongoing issue with reoccurring bent or crooked Topology map links. Imagine two devices that are in the same region, even installed in the same data closet. The map link between device A may go off across the map, take a 90 degree turn, run a little bit, then take another 90 degree turn back to device B. The bent links are not between all devices and seems to reappear even after I right-click and delete the link(s). The bent links may even reappear between numerous different devices, even after I cleanly log out of my map and LMS. I have worked with at least two Cisco TAC support CSE's who have never seen this issue (scary), and have been unable to provide a solution except to delete my "Layer~2~View.xml" server profile file, but this is no guaranteed fix.
    Here is my LMS setup:
    > Windows Server 2008 SP1, with all Important updates
    > Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.3
    > Workstation is Win7 Enterprise, fully patched
    > Internet Explorer 9
    > Java SE 6 Update 38
This issue was also happening under LMS 4.2.2.  Based on another article I found on these forums, I have deleted and recreated all of my LMS databases to defaults, to no avail. I am also fighting another issue where my Topology maps are not saving, producing the "Unable to save map..." message in the lower-left map corner (I added my comments to an existing post about that annoying issue.)
See attached picture for an example.
Any suggestions or comments are welcome.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
May be is independed of the browser but if i started under IE it was unsuccessfull.
I cleared the java from my computer and opened the LMS by IE. The java was intalled but topology map did not started.

  • Problems with LMS 4.1 Topology Maps

    Hi
I've just installed  LMS 4.1 in my demo lab. Everything is working fine except for the Topology maps. When I click on the topolgy from configuration
    I get
I've tried doing what its asked a number of times but with no success and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and know the fix.
I'm running windows 7 with Java version 1.6.0_26 . Also this is the virtal appliance installation of Cisco LMS 4.1.
    Regards

Your problem looks similar to one I have seen with incompatible Java versions. I suggest two things to check it out:
    1. Launch Topology directly when logging in from the server desktop itself (via RDP is fine). Does it work there? If so, the issue is client-based.
    2. Uninstall Java compeltely on the client. Then launch LMS in a browser. When you navigate to Topology tools you should be redirected to the CiscoWorks server's own Java distribution which is packaged to be the precise version (1.6.0_24) that it prefers. Download and install that version and check if the problem is fixed.
One can work around the Java issues in some cases but it's ugly. This, combined with Sun / Oracle's predeliction to want to upgrade Java to the latest version automatically makes this one of the trickier tools in the LMS toolbag to use consistently from diverse remote clients.

  • No response when export EXCEL from Mapping in FDM

    Dear All,
I am using FDM 11.1.1.3. And, install as usual.
I cannot export Excel from Mapping in FDM.
The screen is just keep waiting for long long time.
How to fix it? Thanks for all.

We did have a bug in older versions of smartview where it was not possible to deinstall it. Smartview was removed but any attempt to install a new version failed. This was because Smartview creates a Registry entry in:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Installer
    and adds the key
    C:\DOCUME~1\USERNAME\LOCALS~1\Temp\_is3EA\
which then prevents any newer version of SmartView to be installed
I looked on my machine and the is3EA file does not exist, however there is an installer file called isA.exe
The registry entries for smartview are found under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Hyperion Solutions\Hyperion Smartview - maybe you could try deleting these entries? --> solution works.

  • Exporting Volume File Maps

When I close a file I keep getting the message "Exporting volume file maps" which continues for a few seconds and the file then closes.
This appears to have only started since I imported my Soundtrack Pro loops into the Logic Loop Browser. Also when I use the STP loops I get a message that the file cannot have an overview written yet the loop appears to work fine and I can alter the loop without any problems.
I have deleted all unused items in the project and cleared the files up but I still get the exporting message. It even happens when the project only has one Ultrabeat track in it.
Everything in Logic appears to be working fine but I am just concerned that something bad might be going on in the background that will cause a problem in my files.
    Anyone know anything about this.
    Powermac G5 2.3 Dual 4GB Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Powerbook 17", Motu 828Mk11,MCU

Do not worry. This is part of Project Manager's operation.
Project Manager keeps "maps" of your volumes (Drives, Partitions), for the data it knows about.
Every file Logic encounters either by just using Logic or Project Manager scans will be in the map.

  • Exporting Volume File Maps, please wait ...?

I have just upgraded to Leopard and Logic 7.2. It all seems to be working well accept for this when I quit Logic a box comes up on the screen saying "Exporting Volume File Maps, please wait ..." .... and I wait ... it takes a very long time but eventually disappears (after about 4 minutes)
Does anyone know what this is and why it takes so long?
I never saw it when I was using Logic 7.1 on Panther
    Thanks

Well it did that a few times and now ... it seems to have sorted itself out and does it unnoticed like you say.
    Yay!

  • Exporting the Places map with attached photos

Is there a way to export the places map, with photos, to a web page or mobile me so a person can click on a pin and see the photo, just like it works when running iPhoto?

Google's free photo service, Picasaweb, offers the kind of the map and photos you seem to be looking for. For example:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/albumMap?uname=dankohn&aid=5560978952766944097#ma p
Unfortunately, the Picasa exporter for iPhoto strips out the geotagging information on upload. So, instead, you can use Phoshare to export your pictures to a folder with full metadata included. Then, use the free Picasa software to upload to Google.
