Cisco WS-C2960-24TC-S switch connectivity problam

I configured my cisco WS-C3750X-12S-S with ip routing and it is working properly. i configured  a cisco  WS-C2960-24TC-S  switch and connect both switches via Fiber. each switches can communicate with other end. i can connect to C3750X from my local WAN, all interfaces are working properly but i cant connect to L2 switch from WAN. please help me.
(test result pages attached)

Dear
the fast Ethernet interface on the switch is meant only for OOB (out of band management) so this way you will not be able to route traffic. It will not communicate to any other subnets apart from the connected subnet. Its better you create a SVI in the switch and use that SVI for management purposes.

  • Best way to connect 2 Cisco 3750 PoE 24-port Switches

Hello. I have 2 Cisco 3750 PoE 24-port switches in a small office environment. Right now I have a trunk configured off my ASA 5505 to switch 1, and then just an access port configured on a port (switch 1) and an access port configured on a port (switch 2) to connect them together. These switches also have 2 GB SFP ports but they are not being used in this configuration.
I was curious to know if anyone had any better recommend configurations for connecting these 2 switches together? I'm not sure if this particular model can be stacked?

What are the exact model numbers (should be written on a sticker)?
You will know if they can be stacked as you will see the 2x stack ports on the back of each switch :)
If they can then that is probably the way to go unless you want to keep them as separate switches for some reason.
If you want them separate, I would connect them via a Trunk link at least so you can have the same Vlans on both.
    Thanks

  • Cisco Switch connecting to Radius Server

    Hello Team,
I discovered that anytime the Uplink of my Cisco C2960CG-8TC-L goes down and reconnects, before the switch connects with the Radius Server, the access ports starts to connect into Guest VLAN, which is not the correct production VLAN that has been assigned to the Mac addresses.
I thought I could resolve this with Link state track Upstream and Downstream, but it's not working effectively.
The solution to the problem should be when the UPLINK port does down for whatsoever reason and comes back up, it should communicate with the Radius Server first, thereafter the access ports comes up and connect to the assigned Production VLAN not the Guest VLAN.
How do I achieve this? Any positive advise would be highly appreciated. Configuration can be uploaded if needed.
    Thanks
    Peter

I haven't ever done it, but I think you can set up the Access point as a radius server. Then configure Mac authentication and either filter with the local list or an access list.
    Thanks,
    Alex

  • Can not config full duplex on Gi0/1 of WS-C2960-24TC-L

    Hi,
I have a problem when connect two modules GLC-FX-100FE to two switch WS-C2960-24TC-L as below:
When I plug each SFP module like above to each switch WS-C2960-24TC-L to SFP slot (gigabit 0/1: dual purpose port), then the duplex become to Haft.
So, I can not configure them to full duplex as other copper ports.
But when I use two switch WS-C3560G-24TS-S, I can do this.
OS version of WS-C2960-24TC-L I am using is: c2960-lanbasek9-mz.122-55.SE7.bin, I think it is new.
Please help me solve this problem.
I have to explain to our customer in the next morning. You know, I am Vietnamese and in Vietnam, the time is 22:40 pm,
    Thank you so much.

    Hi,
in interface configuration mode you have to configure
    media-type sfp
Afterwards you can configure media-specific parameters like the duplex mode.
Note: Changing the media-type will cause an outage for a couple of seconds.
    Hope that helps

    BR// Rajiv

    Hello,
When searching a documentation for LMS device support, it is better to search if exact SNMP sysObjectID is supported. You can execute following command on the LMS server to get the switch sysObjectID (find snmpwalk.exe file on your server, this is an example for default location):
    C:\Program Files\CSCOpx\objects\jt\bin>snmpwalk.exe -v2c -c 1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2
(1.3.6.1.2.1.1.2  is the OID for sysObjectID variable.)
I'm not sure if there is a device package for the particular switches, but you can always try to search for updates via LMS Web GUI:
    Common Services
    > Software Center > Device Update
    and:
Common Services > Software Center > Software Update
If your LMS server has Internet access, and you have valid CCO user ID with privileges to download the software, you can download and install all minor updates and device packages... Everything offered for download when using previous Web GUI tools is free if you have paid Cisco SAS support and works with the same LMS license you already  have.
Do not forget to check for prerequisits (for example, sometimes is needed to install Mdf update for Common Services before installing some RME update...)

    Jasmina

  • WS-C2960-24TC-L vs WS-C2960-48TC-L

I want to buy cisco c2960 series switch which support voice, video, data, and highly secure access. My friend suggest me try to use
WS-C2960-24TC-L or WS-C2960-48TC-L which are equipped with Ethernet 10/100 ports and 2 dual-purpose uplinks. But i don't know what's the difference between them ?

    24TC means it's a 24 port, non-PoE.
    48TC means it's a 48-port, non-PoE.

  • Design help related to ACE to Switch connectivity using Port-Channel

    Hi,
I have a Cisco ACE 4710 configured in One-Arm mode. This ACE is getting connected with 2 3750 switches. These 2 3750 switches connected in trunk mode.
ACE is connected to these 3750 switches using Port-channel.
    ACE Config:
    ================================
    interface gigabitEthernet 1/1
description One-arm mode port to DMZ Switch 1 port 20

The problem is that 3750 switches are not stacked.
Application is working fine. But i am getting a lot of MAC flapping messages..
kindly suggest whether this design is OK or something needs to be done to rectify it...
    Attached a small diagram..

    Hello acharyr123,
I don't think this design is ok, and it would cause mac flapping since the two indepedendent 3750 switches will learn the ace mac addresses off of two different interfaces.  The 3750s would have to be stacked so that they would act as one switch then this should work correctly.
    Thanks

  • Disable portfast on switch-to-switch connection

    Hi,
From http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/tech/tk389/tk621/technologies_configuration_example09186a008009467c.shtml, it says, "do not use portfast when you have switch-to-switch connection. In this case, the command can result in a loop."
For e.g. when someone connects a switch port(with portfast enabled) to another switch port(with portfast enabled)
    1) can this scenario cause a loop even though the connection between these switch is only a single link?
    2) If it does not cause a loop, what will happen? STP recalculation which causes a short network outage?
    Thanks.
    Christina

    Hi Christina,
    1) Only if there is a redundant physical path between the switches, such as through another switch. If the only physical path between the two switches is the switch-to-switch link in question, then no loop can occur.
    2) Portfast simply ignores the standard STP state transitions and immediately enters the forwarding state, so assuming no loop, a switch-to-switch link that has portfast configured will skip the 50 second STP convergence time and immediately forward traffic.
    HTH,
    Bobby

  • Cisco ESW500 conflict with netgear switches?

We until recently had two x Netgear Managed Switches. One kept locking up intermitently, so we decided to replace it and bought the Cisco ESW500.
The two managed switches can link together ok, but we have another issue now.
Some of our users connect to the switches via Netgear FS108 Desktop Switches and other connect in direct. The direct users can connect to the Cisco fine, any 'hubbed' users cannot connect into the cisco and instead have to connect to the Netgear.
If only one user connected via a 'hub' it is ok ... but not multiple users.
Not a huge issue at this stage, but once we run out of space in the netgear it will be.
    Any ideas?

Yes, there is a bit of additional flexibility in how you configure the ports and what is allowed.   By default all ports are 'access' ports and the uplink ports are set for inter-switch connections ... AKA - 'Switch'.  Using the smart ports application is the best way to change this!
    Kindest regards,

  • SF-302 switch connectivity issue

    Hi Forumers'
i found that cisco small business SF302 PoE managed switch connect with the end device (RFID component) would causing packet drop issue.
how should i isolate the issue and proper troubleshooting? would it cause by the PoE issue, or the 10/100 base etc.
any suggestion are welcome, thank you
    Noel

    Hi Noel,
Interesting series of exchanges, sorry for jumping in Mr Carr.
Alarm bells ring in my mind,  when you say ". Switchport is running o autonego, so the switch prefix it to 10-Full, any ohter mode than this is not working."
Did you manually set a port  speed  to 10-full or does autonegotiation  settle for 10-full?
Can you also check within the RFID device, what it thinks is it's link speed and duplex ?
( if  the switch port or the RFID device have their speeds manually set, then the NIC/switchport autonegotiation process WILL not work.  for autonegotiation to work, both the RFID NIC and the switch port must be set to autonegotiate)
    I am thinking there is a autonegotiation or flow control issue between the RFID device and the switch.  A previous cisco Question and answer section says  (in blue) that ;
Autonegotiation issues can result from nonconforming implementation, hardware incapabilities, or software defects.
Noel, this brings up a point, have you checked if the manufacturer of the   RFID devicefor  the latest NIC driver firmware ?
Please be diligent and check this with the manufacturer of the RFID device, as these issues can be caused by old firmware..
When NICs or vendor switches do not conform exactly to the IEEE specification 802.3u, problems can result.
I think you have flow control to work with , but now I can understand packet loss, if the is a autonegotiation issue then packet loss can result.
Hardware incompatibility and other issues can also exist as a result of vendor-specific advanced features, such as autopolarity or cable integrity, which are not described in IEEE 802.3u for 10/100 Mbps autonegotiation.
    It could be very interesting to see a screen capture like the one below;
    1.  of the Etherlike statistics for the port that is connected to the RFID device .
    2. the error log,  might be very informative to indicate a potential cause of this issue.
But, in the back of my  mind,  seeing 10megFull duplex  as a setting tells me that autonegotiation is having issues, which points me to a NIC firmware issue in the RFID device.
You must be good and try to get a  updated NIC drivers for the  RFID device.
    regards Dave
