CiscoIPPhoneText with 7920's

When I send a CiscoIPPhoneText to the 7920 phone, it doesn't parse the XML, it just displays the entire XML string on the screen. I know the XML is correct because I'm sending the same thing to a 7921 at the same time, and those phones display just fine.
Anyone else run into this and find a solution?
Thanks,
Brian

Thanks, I will try updating the firmware. It's not the "text/xml" in the header; I do have that set, but seeing that it might be optional, I'll also try to remove it and see what happens.

Hi. I had a 1751-V running without problems with 7940,7960 and 7912 phones.. I configured a new 7920 in the system and when the 7920 register with the CME all the 7940 and 7960 IP Phones unregister from the router and they only came back if I turn off the 7920.The 7912 IP Phone is working fine. I don't know if it is something related to CME or to DHCP. THe router is also the DHCP server..
Attach debugs from the router and relevant configuration..
    Any ideas?

  • Site Survey with 7920 phone

I have a multiple 7920 phone and multiple AP in my environment. Some of the phones are hardware version 2 and others are version 1.
When I do a site survey with 2 phones at the same exact spot I see diffrefnt signal strengths with each phone. both of the phones are set to the same transmit power and both phones are associated with the same AP. If I hold both phones togather and walk arount both phone will show huge diffences in signal strength. I would expect to see some minor diffrences but usualy the diffrence is 10 or more.
    any thoughts?

RSSI is a relative # and the 7920 averages the last 5 scans. Depending on the scan times these could be different and will almost never be indentical.
Also ensure these are both running 1.08 firmware.
There are only minor tooling differences in rev2 hardware.

  • Using Multiple RADIUS servers w/ LEAP & WPA concurrently

Our current Wireless network was setup by someone on the outside an it uses LEAP w/ckip. When we have random employees come in CKIP is a pain since ckip usually isn't supported by any of the laptop OEM wireless drivers. We've had to resort to using the manufacturer's drivers to get it to work. So because of this we started looking at moving to using WPA w/ TKIP or AES. I started out with a small test setup using MS IAS, PEAP and an IOS based Aironet 1231. The test environment seems to be working fine I can associate with it and gain network access so I don't think there are any problems with IAS or PEAP.
My intention is to setup additional SSIDs on new VLANs so I can run the test WPA network in parallel with the in use LEAP networks. My problem I've seem to run into is when I mix the two configs WPA no longer works. I've enable quite a few different debugs get an idea on what might be the problem and the only thing I can come up with at this time is the possibility of wlccp being the problem. When the machine is trying to connect to the WPA SSID I see a lot of wlccp messages which if I understand how this is supposed to work wlccp shouldn't come into play. For the WPA data clients I don't really care about fast roaming which is what I understand wlccp to be for. People aren't walking around with their laptops while doing something network dependent. They sit down in one location and so seemless roaming is a non-issue.
I've attached sanitized version of the two configs. I'll continue to hack on this but I'm hoping I'm just overlooking something that a second set of eyes might catch. Or maybe it's not even possible. I'd also be interested in what others are using as their network EAP methods, EAP-FAST, PEAP, EAP-TLS. I initially chose PEAP since it seems like a happy medium between strength and ease of use from the client end since 98% of all clients will be Windows laptops. Any comments on using WPA-PSK vs LEAP with 7920 phones?
    Thanks in advance,

    1. it is recommended that the AP you use as the primary WDS has the radiu disabled.
    2. It is also standard that your bridge groups be numbered the same as you VLAN's
    3. your native VLAN should not have an SSID associated with it. this is not mandatory but again SOP for multiple VLAN configs.
    4. heere is an excelent link for configuring WDS of course it shows using an ACS server as your radius server but any radius server will work.

5 as Irene points out PEAP is a better choice for EAP as it is more secure than LEAP and more widely supported.
    6. Any version of WPA is prefered over the older security protocls due the the better encryption methods used.

  • Third Party Account determination

    Hi,
Im trying to do a 3rd party drop ship process using Finished and Trading materials with 7920 and 3100 valuation class respectively.
While posting the Goods issue in MIRO, the system determines a GL account  maintained in OBYC with the combination of
    Valuation Modifier - 0001
    General Modifier - VAX
Valuation Class - 3100 or 7920 based on the material.
I have all the assignments like Schedule line cat as CS which has Item cat 5, Acc. Asst cat X.
The system has to determine the GL account assigned against the above combination of Valuation class 3105.
Any one has a solution for this? Please Reply.
    Thanks and regards,
    Mahibhan

    Hey Raj,
Sorry if i have not conveyed my issue correctly.
These are the standard acct determination
    0001   VAX      3100      500000
    0001   VAX      3105      500010
    0001   VAX      7920      500000
When i do a standard sales process using a Finished or a trading material, 500000 is determined during goods issue thro the valuation class 7920 and 3100 respectively.
But when i do a third party process with the same finished or a trading material it determines again 500000 instead of 500010. Is there any way i can make this account (500010) determined without changing the valuation class in the materials?

It gets authenticated. It shows association in progress. On AP it shows ip address 0.0.0.0 and it restart the whole process again. i couldn't manage to figure out the problem. Kindly help me on the same.

    Hi,
If the phone is not associating to the AP you need to verify that the configuration on the phone (check under "Network config" tab) is the same than in the AP.
    Verify
-SSID is set to "specify" and the SSID1 value is the same that what is configured on the AP for that vlan.
-The "Authentication" selected is the same than in the AP. If it's LEAP verify as well the username/pwd configured. If it's Shared key, doublecheck the Web key under Encryption parameter (it's easy to mistype numbers from 1-3 as they are on same key than A-F).
If those two are properly configured you will see under "site survey"a list of AP matching SSID and authentication method.
Make sure as well that non supported features are unchecked on the AP for the vlan where your phones reside(TKIP/MIC,PMIP)

  • 7920 cannot register with AP after firmware upgrade

We have a customer using 7920 with Firmware 1.08.
He tries to test the Beta firmware (cmterm_7920_3.3.02_05_005.bin) on some 7920.
The upgrade finished correctly and after reconfiguration, 7920 register to the APS.
On two devices, he got a problem:
    - The configuration menu is hidden. We try to enter the sequence *## ‘send’ but without success.
    - The ‘reset’ with sequence *7#9#2#0#* is not working (it was working on other 7920 when locked by password)
    - USB parameter is hidden, so we cannot activate it.
    - We try to download an old firmware (cmterm_7920_3.3.01.03.bin) trough USB port, using the boot function after power on, but we got the message: ERR304-Memory insufficient to upload the firmware image.
    - We try to use an AP with basic configuration, broadcasting SSID cisco or tsunami, but 7920 stay with the message ‘No AP found’.
So, these two 7920 are unusable now.
Have you any suggestion? Daniel Bill

First off 02-05-005 is not a 7920 image. He may be using 02-01-XXX, which is an engineering image and shouldn't be used in production. Can try Menu->*##->Send then config menus will be unhidden.
Also *7#9#2#0#*, will just factory default the phone if phone lock is enabled, where you are prompted for a password at power on.
Are you saying the phone will not boot now? If so, then call TAC. If they can boot, you can enter admin secret to expose hidden menus and enable usb to upload the firmware via USB or either configure the 802.11b paramaters to upload via TFTP wirelessly.

  • Help with Configuring an HWIC AP with a 7920

I am trying to configure an HWIC-AP on a 2811 router. I keep getting the error “No service-IP config failed” on the 7920. The 7920 is registering with the router but I’m not able to receive a number. I’m using CCME on the router. I’m only interested in the bare minimum at this point before I add any security features. Below is the config I am using.
    interface Dot11Radio0/3/0
    no ip address
    ssid ldk
    vlan 1
    authentication open
    guest-mode
    infrastructure-ssid optional
    speed basic-1.0 basic-2.0 basic-5.5 6.0 9.0 basic-11.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0
    54.0
    station-role root
    interface Dot11Radio0/3/0.1
    encapsulation dot1Q 1 native
    no snmp trap link-status
I am also using switchports and int Vlan1 is 192.168.2.1 /24.
This is the first time I have configure the HWIC-AP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Lawny

It required that I assign a static IP address to the dot11 subinterface and I had to use two dhcp pools. One for the IP phones that were plugging into the switchports and another for the wireless IP phones.
Below is the entire config for the phones.

  • 7920 re-registering with the CallManager

    Hi,
I've got a WLC4400 with about 60 AIR-LAP1242AG-E-K9.Everything works fine but recently I had this problem:
some phones randomly are disconnected and they re-associate themself to the Call Manager.
I configured the QoS Platinum profile to 802.1p at 7, the phones runs the most recent firmware(4.0-03-02) and the controller too (4.1.181.0)
    Please help me.
    Thanks
    Fabio

    This is in idle primarily?
    Are shared lines used?
Does this occur when roaming? or even if not associating to a new AP?
Will need to investigate why SCCP packets are not getting exhcnaged properly.
    Is this in certain areas?
Could try enabling a lower data rate, which could potentially be more reliable transmission.
The 7920 uses the lowest basic rate in idle and the highest rate enabled when on call.
Don't need to set 802.1p tag to 7 any longer with that code version, but is also ok to leave it configured that way as well, since 7 is still the voice queue.
Would suggest to open a TAC case to seek assistance with this issue.

  • 7920 Unable to answer with two inbound calls ringing

I have a CME customer reporting that when their 7920s have two inbound calls ringing at the same time they are unable to answer either call.
The 7920s are a shared extension, on Dual Line DNs, with their desktop phones.
CME is 4.0(2), and the 7920 phone load is 4.0-03-00.
Has anyone else experienced this problem, or have any idea what might cause it?
    Thanks,
    Mike

What type of ap are you using? Controller or autonomous?
If controller is pre-4.0.217.0 version then would want to set the 802.1p tag for the platinum QoS profile to 7 vs 6 or upgrade to 4.0.217.0.
Also would advise to upgrade the 7920 to 03-02.

  • 7920 IP Phone with PEAP

    Hi,
I am trying to install Cisco wireless IP Phone 7920 with Unified Call Manager Express
Wireless AP 1241 configured with PEAP and WPA
Does the 7920 phones support PEAP ?
    Regards
    Mohamed

    Hi Mohamed,
    The 7920 does not support PEAP :( Have a look;
The Cisco 7920 Wireless IP Phone supports both Static Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) and Cisco LEAP for authentication and data encryption. If either encryption model is used, both the signaling (Skinny Client Control Protocol, or SCCP) and media (RTP) are encrypted between the Cisco 7920 phone and the AP.
    Static WEP
Static WEP requires that a 40-bit or 128-bit key be entered manually on all of the Cisco 7920 phones as well as the APs. It performs AP-based authentication by verifying that the accessing device (in this case, the Cisco 7920 phone) has a matching key.
    LEAP
LEAP allows devices (such as the Cisco 7920 phone and AP) to be authenticated mutually (phone-to-AP and AP-to-phone) based on a user name and password. Upon authentication, a dynamic key is used between the Cisco 7920 phone and the AP to encrypt traffic.
If LEAP is used, a LEAP-compliant RADIUS server, such as the Cisco Access Control Server (ACS), is required to provide access to the user database. The Cisco ACS can either store the user name and password database locally, or it can access that information from an external Microsoft Windows NT directory.
When using LEAP, ensure that strong passwords are used on all wireless devices. Strong passwords are defined as being between 10 and 12 characters long and can include both uppercase and lowercase characters as well as the special characters * & % $ # @.
Because most users save their passwords on the phone, Cisco recommends that you use different user names and passwords on data clients and wireless voice clients. This practice helps with tracking and troubleshooting as well as security.
