CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 device driver discovery problem

Hi,
We have many devices Cisco 3825 on our network. For some of them, the device driver is correctly discovered but not for others.
- Devices correctly discovered : cisco3825 : Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(5a), RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc3)Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupportCopyright (c) 1986-2006 by Cisco Systems, Inc.Compiled Fri 13-Jan-06 21:09 by alnguyen : snmp oid : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.543
- Devices not recognized : cisco3825 : Cisco IOS Software, 3800 Software (C3825-ADVSECURITYK9-M), Version 12.4(15)T9, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc5)Technical Support: http://www.cisco.com/techsupportCopyright (c) 1986-2009 by Cisco Systems, Inc.Compiled Tue 28-Apr-09 17:45 by prod_rel_team : snmp oid : .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.543
I didn't see any new device driver package on Cisco site.
Does somebody has an idea ?
Many thanks,
Fabien GIRAUD

I'm not sure I clearly understand the problem.  Are you saying that some 3825s are not being discovered by Common Services Discovery?  If so, are they showing up as unreachable, or are they not showing up at all in the Discovery reports?

  • Ciscoworks LMS 2.2 layer 2 trace problem

i have a 3745 (seed device) connected to a 2611xm via a 2950 switch but the ani server cannot discover the 2611xm or even properly recognize the 2950 switch. i have configured the required snmp parameters and cdp is enabled on all devices. i can also ping the 2950 and 2611xm from the ciscoworks server.
do i need special configs on the 2950 for the ani server to discover the 2611xm router?

To troubleshoot, go into the respective devices and execute "show cdp neighbors" commands.
If the devices all see each other as neighbors, the problem is in CW's interaction with the devices. If that is the case, make sure each device's credentials are allowing CW to correctly query it.
If not, then fix the cdp interaction on the devices and rediscover and then recheck CW's network view.
Hope this helps. Please rate helpful posts.

  • Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 - Compliance mgmt negation problem

    Hi,
Strange problem, that I am sure is being caused by me.
Basically trying to run an advanced Compliance mgmt job, looking for a set of pre-requisites (this is working) and then removing all non compliance SNMP community strings from a sample device.
I use two lines for this removal
    - snmp-server community [#!testR[OW]mon#] [#.*#] [#.*#]
    - snmp-server community [#!SNMP#] [#.*#] [#.*#]
From what I see, this should remove all snmp-server communities from a device other than "testROmon", "testRWmon" and "SNMP". Obvious caveat is that they would all need to have two words after this (in this case, these are ro or rw and an ACL).
When I run this it seems to try and remove twice as many snmp community strings as there actually are on the device config? So I guess the core questions are: -
    1) Does the above look sound and would it do what I think
    2) Does the Compliance management engine parse the entire config independantly for each line of the above and hence explain why I am getting more removals than I would expect or is there a problem somewhere?
Any help on this appreciated as its driving me nuts

    Thanks Joseph,
So if I also wanted to remove all SNMP traps bar: -
snmp-server host 10.10.10.x (where x is any ip in the last octet)
From a device, would I use
    - [#snmp-server host (!#10\.10\.10\..*#).#]
    Or doesn't this make sense?

  • Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 compliance mgmt negation problem 2

    Sorry one more question,
If I also wanted to remove all SNMP traps bar: -

From a device, would I use
    - [#snmp-server host (!#10\.10\.10\..*#).#]
    Any help appreciated

    Thanks Joseph,
But if the line is say: -
    snmp-server host 10.10.10.1 testROmon
Would I not need the .*# for the extra word? I guess this would only be needed if I were also searching for variations in this word?

  • Apple iPod USB Device driver issue on Win XP - syncing shuffle 2nd gen.

Hello fellow iPod shuffle users. Any of you run into this problem using the following configurations? Any advise/recommendations/workarounds much appreciated as I've burned 3 days on this issue and I'm still stonewalled.
I personally think it's a device driver issue/bug and am searching for a way to update my Apple iPod USB device driver for Win XP. Two brand new ipod shuffles (received for Christmas 2008) are both behaving this way, so the problem most likely points to a global software issue more-so than to shuffle hardware issue.
PROBLEM STATEMENT: Driver data i/o streaming issue does not allow shuffle to sync data with iTunes after initial sync (i.e. reading the content of the shuffle is good, but writing modified content fails). Posted error message "The ipod ... cannot be synced. Required disk cannot be found". After cracking the hood on my device driver, the problem seems to point to the Apple iPod USB device driver for Win XP. Driver will recognize the shuffle and read to it, but subsequent write attempts will result in device driver balks that "this device cannot start (code 10)".
    ATTEMPTED WORKAROUNDS:
*Read All "How to Get Started Manuals" to make sure I was using the right technique for syncing my two shuffles from within iTunes... tried and failed
*Ensure only one shuffle was plugged in at a time (saw notice that two shuffles plugged in at the same time is not yet a supported config)... tried and failed
*The 5 R's as recommended by Apple Support... tried and failed.
*I've tried all 3 built in USB ports on my Lenovo T60. no love... tried and failed.
*Per discussion board: From Window's Device Manager-> Scaned for new hardware while shuffle was syncing...tried and failed.
    * Per Discussion board: From Window's Disk Management -> Ensured shuffle came up as a FAT32 filesystem... connection tore down as quickly as windows recognized it.... tried and failed.
*From Windows Software config utility: Ran repair to re-install itunes 8... same results.
*From Windows software management utility: Uninstalled and reinstalled itunes 8... same results.
Hardware: IBM Thinkpad/Lenovo T60. Using build in k/b & no external mouse. Has 3 USB built in ports.
Software: Windows XP Pro SP2/iTunes 8.0.2/shuffle (2nd gen) driver 1.0.4 (same behavior using the original driver 1.0.3).
    Apple iPod USB Device properties:
    Driver Provider - Microsoft
    Driver Date - 7/1/2001
    Driver Version - 5.1.2535.0
Digital Signer - Microsoft Windows Publisher

Hi. Ive got pretty much the same problem.... Got a new shuffle for christmas..having real problems syncing with itunes. Funnily enough I managed to get 25 tracks on it but then it just stopped. error message says " The ipod shuffle cannot be synced. The required disk cannot be found." Ive done restore, and downloaded a reset utility thingy to try but still no joy.

  • LightRoom 1.3.1 corrupts DVD/CD-ROM device driver

There is a device driver corruption bug in the new LightRoom 1.3.1, and it is observed if you upgrade from LR 1.3.0. Following a reboot after the updating installation of LR 1.3.1, the device driver for an external USB DVD/CD-ROM device will get corrupted, as noted in the Windows Device Manager. This was not a problem with any of the prior upgrades of LR from 1.0 through 1.3.0.
My environment is Windows XP Professional SP-2 on a Lenovo X60s ultra-light laptop. This laptop does not have a DVD/CD-ROM device built-in because of it size. So, I have an externally powered DVD/CD-ROM player/burner device that plugs into one of the USB ports. As long as I am using LightRoom 1.3.0, everything works fine for whenever I plug-in and access my external USB DVD/CD-ROM drive. I can leave the external device plug-in and reboot, or use the USB dismount of the device and reboot and then plug-in the device, or any combination of these steps and the external device will continue to work.
When I install the LR 1.3.1 upgrade, as long as I don't reboot, I can run LR 1.3.1 and it will work fine and so will the external device. I can dismount the USB DVD/CD-ROM device and then plug it in again and it will still work fine and so will LR 1.3.1, just so long as I do not reboot after installing LR 1.3.1. As soon as I reboot the computer, even if done immediately after only installing LR 1.3.1, and regardless of whether or not the external USB DVD/CD-ROM device is plug-in, after the reboot, the Device Manager will indicate that the device driver for the DVD/CD-ROM device is corrupted.
In order to isolate the cause of my device driver corruption problem, I had utilizing the Windows Restore Point capability. I am able to step back to a very recent Restore Point where LR 1.3.1 had not yet been installed, and I am able to plug in and dismount at any time my external USB DVD/CD-ROM device and always be able to use it without any problems. I can also reboot the computer and the USB DVD/CD-ROM device will continue to work without any problems, whether it was left plugged in or if I hot plug it in after the computer has fully rebooted.
For the record, I used different files and different methods for updating LR from 1.3.0 to 1.3.1. One method was to use the update feature within LR. Other methods used included two different downloaded *.EXE files to do the update without LR open. No matter which method was used to update to LR 1.3.1, the corruption of the device driver was always the same after a reboot.
I also did test installs to be sure that other applications didn't cause the same problem. I can confidently report that I updated four other applications and rebooted and the USB DVD/CD-ROM drive continue to work just fine. One of the updates was the latest Adobe's Flash Player.

Yu may want to review your system to see if you are getting the same error as I did. If not, then just send them the correct information.
Here is exactly what I wrote - you just need to change what CD/DVD drives you have on your system:
'I can not get either of my CD/DVD drives to work. I have tried to uninstall and reboot system for Windows to pick them up. I can not rollback or update the driver as it is not finding the files. They see the drives under Computer Management, but I get this error: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
I need to have the inf files and do not have access to the cd you sent as all the drivers are down. Can you resend the inf files for the "CD/DVD 1" & "CD/DVD 2"?'
    Hope this helps - Dan

  • CiscoWorks LMS problem

We are running CISCOWORKS LMS in our Data Network,
But right now getting below problem,
    1.    Unable to integrate Cisco-3925 integrated service router
    2.    Unable to integrate Cisco-2811 integrated service router
    3.    LMS cannot sense link status
    4.    LMS cannot auto discover link
Attached Image for your kind reference.Appreciate your concern about this issue.

    Hi Hafiz,
Kindly let me know how you are adding device to CiscoWorks LMS 2.6.
As a best practise, when you will add new device to CiscoWorks, you should not select the device type while adding the device to CiscoWorks. Let the ciscoworks collect the inventorty on device and identify it automatically.
To start with make sure you have the lastet MDF device packages install for Common Services and then install all device pachages for other components like RME, CiscoView etc but make sure to have lastest MDF install first.
    Thanks

  • Problem with a DDI Device driver for Solaris 8 and 9 on a Sun-Blade-1500

The problem has to do with dma allocated memory and the little-endian format.
When I copy blocks bigger than 256 bytes to the dma memory, using a uiomove() or bcopy(), the data after the first 32 bytes is swapped around over 8 bytes.
The bcopy from a driver (stack) buffer into the dma virtual memory has the same affect.
So it has to do with the kernel dma allocated memory and the endianess.
When I set the byte order to big-endian inside the ddi_device_acc_attr the data seems to be alright, also with bigger transfer sizes.
My device however needs the little-endian format.
I have the same the same device driver running without any errors on a Sun Blade-150 Solaris 8 for a long time now.

I am having the similar problem identified in this thread.
    OS: Sun Solaris 10 01/06
    Hardware: Sun Blade 2500
    PCI Memory card.
Problem: When driver moves more then 40 bytes via PIO from a PCI device memory card, the long words are swapped starting at 40 byte transfer size and greater.
    device memory description:
    static ddi_device_acc_attr_t sdram_access_attr =
    DDI_DEVICE_ATTR_V0, /* Boilerplate value */
    DDI_STRUCTURE_LE_ACC,
    DDI_STRICTORDER_ACC /* Don't reorder accesses */
    The user application does a read call, which goes to xxread. xxread calls physio( xxstrategy, bp, dev, B_READ, xxminphys, uio );
In xxstrategy the transfer is done using
    ddi_mem_rep_get8(ucb->ucb_sdram_accHndl,
    (uint8_t*) kaddr,
    (uint8_t*) raddr,
    (size_t) bp->b_resid),
    (uint_t) DDI_DEV_AUTOINCR );
PCI Device memory is loaded with incrementing address (8bit), 0,1,2... This is confirmed using a PCI Bus Analyzer.
A read of 36 bytes or less returns:
    03 02 01 00 07 06 05 04 ...
A read of 40 bytes returns:
    07 06 05 04 03 02 01 00 ...
    If I peek 1 byte at a time using ddi_get8(ucb->ucb_sdram_accHndl, ...) I get
    00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07
Why are the long words swapped starting at 40 byte transfer size and greater?

  • Thunderbolt device driver problem

I have a W540 and running Windows 7 64 bits - and brought a WD My Passport Pro Thunderbolt HDD.  I know it is for Macs - but, I was thinking of reformating the HDD into NTFS once I can get the HDD to mount into Windows.  The Thunderbolt Devices display tells me -
Thunderbolt Port 1 *-> Western Digital, My Passport Pro.
Unfortunately, I have a problem with "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller" driver - gave me Code 12.
Does anybody knows of a replacement device driver to get this HDD to work?  Or recommend an equivalent portable HDD (of at least 4TB) that works with W540 Thunderbolt port.
    Thanks... WTS

Update - I think a more fundamental issue is this ...
Does the W540 BIOS support Thunderbolt hard-disks?  I ask this - because I observe this ... when a Thunderbolt hard-disk is plugged in AND I reboot the computer, it hangs at the BIOS initialisation stage.  Only when I remove the Thunderbolt drive, then the machine can boot up.
Also I noticed there is NO option in the BIOS for Thunderbolt - only USB.

  • Custom device prompt in Ciscoworks LMS

    Hello,
In emerging network infrastructure of our client we decided to use some custom promps at device VTY (SSH and Telnet). Console users are network authenticated by means of ACS, and in case ACS is not reachable, we decided to use login prompts as follows:
    Username(local):
    Password(local):
In this local mode, when CiscoWorks LMS (3.1) tries to collect configuration of switches, VLAN configuration exactly, we got such error messages in LMS interface:
TELNET: Failed to establish TELNET  connection to 10.52.0.1 - Cause: Authentication failed on device 3 times. VLAN  Config fetch is not supported using TFTP. Command failed VLAN Config fetch is  not supported using RCP.
Of course, we have checked the possibility to got from LMS host to these devices by SSH and Telnet, credentials are correct, only login prompts are as described earlier.
I conclude, we need to tell LMS to accept our custom prompts. Is there any possibility and how to achieve this?

If you're sure the failure is due to the custom prompt, yes, you can simply follow the steps in the following document to let LMS know about that:

  • Solaris 10 GA and 64 bit Pentium Processor. Device Driver Problem

    We have a Dell Poweredge SC420 with 3.4 GHz Pentium 4 (EMT64)
it also has 300Gb SCSI disk and 2 Gb Ram.
By default this machine tried to boot with the 64 bit kernel then could not load the CADP driver (SCSI CARD). We forced the Kernel to 32 bit by changing the BOOT_FILE from /kernel/AMD64/unix to /kernel/unix.
The machine is now booted but we are having problems with our PCI device. The device is a DMA Bus master and works fine on another SC420 which has a 2.8GHz Non-64 bit processor running the same release of Solaris. The device driver fails in strategy when we try to bind the dma buffer,(ddi_dma_buf_bind_handle) returning DDI_DMA_TOOBIG when the cookie count is > 1.
The machine appears to function apart from our device although we have suffered some kernel panics. We cannot ascertain if other devices are performing DMA successfully but must assume that they are.
Anybody got any ideas, Has anyone else got this processor working?

  • Discovery problem in LMS 4.0.1

    Hello all,
I have a problem discovering some ASA firewalls on a network. I have several ASA firewalls on this /24 network, but some of them I can't discover e.g 149.x.x.107 is discovered ok, but 149.x.x.20 I can't discover. It seems that it's not even trying to discover the devices I have problems with. Nothing is shown in the discovery log

  • Ciscoworks LMS 4.0 – Fault Device Details Issue

We currently use Ciscoworks LMS 4.0 but when I go into,  Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Fault Device Details
I get the following message (see attached document with screenshot) and being a LMS newbie am unsure what to do? As have tried to search for this
           file but no luck.
So thanks in advance for any advice.

Check if the fault management rediscovery page shows device as discovered and known or does it have any errors?
Are you able to generate any fault management reports and view other pages?
Just try to reboot the server/restart daemon to see if it is goes away.
Else it is mostly corrupt FM DB. Which would need to be re-initialized.
Fault Mgmt reinitialize is very simple task, which doesnt removes a lot of data, except past 31 days of FM history and custom notifications, if configured.
    Thanks
    Vinod
