2.    Unable to integrate Cisco-2811 integrated service router
3.    LMS cannot sense link status
4.    LMS cannot auto discover link
Attached Image for your kind reference.Appreciate your concern about this issue.

Hi Hafiz,
Kindly let me know how you are adding device to CiscoWorks LMS 2.6.
As a best practise, when you will add new device to CiscoWorks, you should not select the device type while adding the device to CiscoWorks. Let the ciscoworks collect the inventorty on device and identify it automatically.
To start with make sure you have the lastet MDF device packages install for Common Services and then install all device pachages for other components like RME, CiscoView etc but make sure to have lastest MDF install first.
Thanks

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 Time Zone Problem

    Hi,
CiscoWorks LMS 4.0 timezone is VET. I know that LMS time is syncronized with system time. Hovewer, system time is correct but LMS's time is wrong.
-I restarted LMS CW Deamon Manager
    -I re-installed LMS
    My problem still exists.
What should I do to syncronize the time?
    Thank you for your help.

My setup files were corrupted. I tried new setup and LMS succesfully installed.

    Ciscoworks LMS 3.1
    Ciscoworks Common Services 3.2.0
    Campus Manager 5.1.4
We have 31 managed devices in Campus Manager (data has been collected on all),

I'm slowly getting to a dead end here. What am I missing?

Well, our problem was resolved finally through a weird coincendence after having a websession with a Cisco TAC engineer (TAC case SR 613376661)
    We changed the
    snmp-server group readonly v3 auth context vlan-xxxx
    commands in the switches to:
    snmp-server group writeonly v3 auth context vlan-xxxx
that is: use the writestring in the snmp-server groups instead of the read string.
After we changed that, all of the User Tracking mysteriously started working.
As far as I know, the writestring should not be needed, but apparently it is....
Is there any explanation for this?

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 - Could not generate the report

    Hello,
I am running CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 since 6 months and I wanted to generate today a report about the interface utilization on 2 Cisco switches (Catalyst 3750G). The corresponding job is created, it runs and then i get "succeeded with info" in the "Run Status" column. When I want to click then on the "View Report" link, I get the following error: "Could not generate the report. Either data is not available for the specified duration or the report job failed."
I tried the same procedure with 2 other switches but I have got the same result.
Does anybody has an idea of how I can fix this issue?
    Thanks a lot in advanced.
    Best regards,
    Marc Hoffmann

    Hi Marc,
I have this problem too. I rebooted my Windows but no solved. You known the service name responsible for this error? You have any other sugestion?
    Thank you !!!

  • Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 Processes down

    Hello all,
I have installed ciscoworks lms 3.2 on windows 2003.
The discovery ran successfully and the devices were added to dcr.
After a few days, the ciscoworks processes were automatically down.
“Processes NOSServer, CmfDbMonitor, FHServer, IPMProcess, Sysloganalyser, 1041, CTMJrmServer,

ConfigMgmtServer, DCRServer, PMCOGSServer, ICServer, EssentialsDM, InventoryCollector1, PTMServer, RMEOGSServer, UPMProcess are down” .
    Why were the processes down?
    What might be the solution?

  • Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 bug summary report

    Hi,
I have one Ciscoworks LMS 3.2, it managed around 500 devices. I tried to generate bug summary report and the bug number is zero. Please kindly help to solve this problem.
    Best Regards,
    Jackson Ku

For how many devices are you running the report?
[ Wed Jan 05  21:26:50 CST 2011 ],INFO ,[main],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.bugtool.BTBugSummary,populateResults,295,Cisco.com URL Connection TimeOut: Try again later or with less number of devices.
Have you tried running it for just one?
This is also kind of strange,
    [ Wed Jan 05  21:26:50 CST 2011 ],INFO ,[main],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.bugtool.BTBugSummary,formBTDevHash,228,Device(s) are not supported by Cisco.com.
[ Wed Jan 05  21:26:50 CST 2011 ],INFO ,[main],com.cisco.nm.rmeng.bugtool.BTBugSummary,formBTDevHash,229,Hence Could not generate report
Like as if cisco.com would not know about these C3750's
Maybe do an export of these 3750's in the DCR to see if the all have the same OID and if it is a supported OID.
Are your device packages up to date? You may want to sync those with CCO.
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • CiscoWorks LMS: not receveing certain SNMP traps

CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 (I know it's old and unsupported).
Problem: not receiving certain SNMP traps.
For example: I receive trap like "STP new root" but not like "port put to err-disabled" or my custom traps (produced by EEM scripts).
I've investigated my situation and found out that switch sends traps and they reach* LMS but somehow LMS ignores them (there's no trace of them in GUI). I've read that some traps just pass through LMS but my traps are very important and I need to know about them.
    * I did Wireshark capture on LMS machine.
I'd like to know how to debug receiving of SNMP traps in LMS:
which specific debugs need to be enabled,
which specific log files need to be examined.

LMS uses DFM to process certain traps.
All traps it deems unimportant are dropped.
If you want to use the LMS GUI you can have you device send a SYSLOG message rather than a trap.
use logging source command to make the management interface send the message.
Then there is a GUI that allows you to launch an action on a message
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • CiscoWorks LMS not sending mail

    Hi,
I have CiscoWorks LMS functionning properly. For some time, I am seeing problems with it sending mail notifications. When it is rebooted, it sends the mail properly but after some time, the mail notifications are not sent.
Is there a log file to see the issue with the mail sending? I am not sure whether it is a CiscoWorks LMS issue or the mail server (on which i have no access) to try to isolate the problem.
The last change that I made to the server, that might be a possible cause. I had installed the HP NIC teaming with 2 NIC cards teamed and assuming the IP address of the server.
I just want to check with the server before proceding to mail server blacklisting or other.
    Thanks in Advance,

  • CiscoWorks LMS cannot add PIX/ASA in software repository

    Hi,
I can see that LMS in RME Software Management cannot add PIX/ASA software saying not supported.
    Any configuration issues.
I have got another problem. CiscoWorks LMS need to download IOS on cisco router, the process fails in RME Software Mgt. But the LMS is nated when it goes through the router.
i guess the script does not know the natted ip when running it on the router. If there is a way that I can specify the natted IP of the LMS. Fortunately, it is a nated static IP.
    Thanks,
    Ashley

    Hi Joseph,
It is working fine. My mistake, issue with TFTP source interface.
However, I had got a small issue.
I have got a cisco router which RME accesses with ip natted ip, which you have indicated and It is working fine with RME. RME can manage the router perfectly.
However, DFM is leaving this router in questioned mode. So, the SNMP Credentials must be ok since it is good with RME.
Do I have to specify the Natted DFM ip as well for this router? Or something else must be done.

    Hi there,
I would like to seek your counsel with regards to the recent incident that we encountered with our CiscoWorks LMS 3.1 running on Solaris 10.
A few days ago, we received a few complains from our users that they were unable to view the pollers or contents of the TOP-N <CPU | Memory | Interface> Utilization on the HUM’s home page (see attached file, hum_homepage.jpg).
We (tech support guys) checked the pollers’ status and they’re all Active (see attached file, pollers.jpg); we notified our Administrators and requested for a copy of the HUMPortal.log (see attached file, humportal.zip).
The following day, while waiting for the HUMPortal.log, we received reports that users accessing the HUM home page are stuck with the message “loading…” on all TOP-N Utilization reports.
As we were about to re-queue our request from our administrators, we received reports (a few hours ago) that our CiscoWorks LMS is inaccessible via web browser.
We alerted our administrators and they attempted to restart the Daemon Manager (/etc/init.d/dmgmtd); they were able to successfully shut it down but took several attempts to start it up.
As they attempt to start up the Daemon Manager, they encountered the following error message:
    # /etc/init.d/dmgtd start
Error: Daemon Management could not start. Trying again
Error: Unable to bind to port, please check port (42340) state and permissions.
Error: If the port is in use, please try starting Daemon Manager once it become free.
After several minutes passed, they were able to start up the Daemon Manager successfully although the CiscoWorks LMS is still inaccessible via web browser.
We requested for a copy of the “pdshow –brief” log and every daemon (as far as I know) seemed to be working fine but it never hurts to ask for help to verify my findings (see attached file, pdshow0818a.log).
As of the moment of  this writing, we are still unable to access CiscoWorks LMS via web  browser; any insight or suggestion on the next step to take in  troubleshooting and eventually solving this problem is very much  appreciated.

The port 42340 issue is most likley not related to the HUM issue you described. The latest log entry you provided indicates "Possible reasons for 'No Data' in HUM Portlets could be either Poller is not configured, or Poller is deactivated, or Poller Failure has occurred, or Summarization job did not start." The error is repeated back to the beginning of the file dated Aug 14 16:39.
To focus on the HUM issue:
Did any change occur on or around the 14th that you are aware of?
    Please provide some additional debugs:
    1. Please enable debug for "UPMProcess"
Log files are stored here: #/var/adm/CSCOpx/log/#
    - HUMPortal.log
    - upm_summarization.log
    - jrm.log
    - upm_process.log
    2. To set log levels:
*Health and Utilization Monitor > Admin > System Preferences*.
    - Select Log Level Settings.
    - Select the application module from the drop-down list.
    - Select the Debug log level from the Logging Level drop-down list.
    Thanks,
    Nick

  • How do you install RSAC 4.3.2 when upgrading to ciscoworks LMS 3.2.1?

We have ciscoworks LMS 3.2 which we have recently updated to ciscoworks 3.2.1 using the ciscoworks 3.2 Service Pack 1 patch file.  In the "Readme for CiscoWorks LAN Management Solution 3.2 Service Pack 1" document, it says that you have to install the Remote Syslog Collector 4.3.2 separately.  It says the file (setup.exe) is located at disk1/RSAC.  However, ciscoworks 3.2 Service Pack 1 only appears to be a patch file and when we ran the patch file on our Remote Syslog Collector server, the version remained at 4.3.0.  When I looked at the server where RME is installed (version 4.3.2), it says that Syslog Analyzer is 4.3.2 and Syslog Collector is version 4.3.0.  The patch file doesn't look like it has the installation files for RSAC 4.3.2 and there doesn't seem to be a directory that was created on the RME server to install the updated RSAC from, so how do you upgrade from RSAC 4.3.0 to RSAC 4.3.2?

I opened up a TAC case, worked with TAC, and was able to update RSAC to version 4.3.2.  The procedure is:
    1. Download the ciscoworks LMS 3.2.1 patch file to the remote syslog server.
    2. Create a temporary directory on the remote syslog server (ex. c:\test)
    3. Go into the directory with the extracted LMS 3.2.1 patch file and type the command:
    Ciscoworks_LMS_3.2.1.exe /extract_all:c:\test
    4.  Go into the c:\test directory and find the RSAC folder.  In the RSAC folder is a setup file.  Run setup and install RSAC 4.3.2 over RSAC 4.3.0 (if you uninstall RSAC 4.3.0, you will get a message saying that RSAC 4.3.0 must be installed before installing RSAC 4.3.2)
    5. Check the installation by going to Common Services->Software Center->Software Update on the remote syslog server.  The version should be RSAC 4.3.2.

  • CiscoWorks LMS 2.6

    Dear All
We are running CiscoWorks LMS 2.6
I have scheduled a backup in Common Services > Server > Admin > Backup
My question is, what does this backup actually do?
Does it just backup the CW configuration?
Or does it include data such as devices configuration archive, reports, jobs, device inventory etc
If it does not, anyone have a suggestion of how this can be achieved?
I am looking into DR scenario - i.e. how we can restore net devices if the device AND CW server is destroyed.
    Thanks
    Phil

    Phil;
You may want to move this thread to the Network Infrastructure>Network Management community; they focus on LMS there.

  • Custom device prompt in Ciscoworks LMS

    Hello,
In emerging network infrastructure of our client we decided to use some custom promps at device VTY (SSH and Telnet). Console users are network authenticated by means of ACS, and in case ACS is not reachable, we decided to use login prompts as follows:
    Username(local):
    Password(local):
In this local mode, when CiscoWorks LMS (3.1) tries to collect configuration of switches, VLAN configuration exactly, we got such error messages in LMS interface:
TELNET: Failed to establish TELNET  connection to 10.52.0.1 - Cause: Authentication failed on device 3 times. VLAN  Config fetch is not supported using TFTP. Command failed VLAN Config fetch is  not supported using RCP.
Of course, we have checked the possibility to got from LMS host to these devices by SSH and Telnet, credentials are correct, only login prompts are as described earlier.
I conclude, we need to tell LMS to accept our custom prompts. Is there any possibility and how to achieve this?

If you're sure the failure is due to the custom prompt, yes, you can simply follow the steps in the following document to let LMS know about that:

  • Ciscoworks LMS 4.0 – Fault Device Details Issue

We currently use Ciscoworks LMS 4.0 but when I go into,  Monitor > Fault Settings > Setup > Fault Device Details
I get the following message (see attached document with screenshot) and being a LMS newbie am unsure what to do? As have tried to search for this
           file but no luck.
So thanks in advance for any advice.

Check if the fault management rediscovery page shows device as discovered and known or does it have any errors?
Are you able to generate any fault management reports and view other pages?
Just try to reboot the server/restart daemon to see if it is goes away.
Else it is mostly corrupt FM DB. Which would need to be re-initialized.
Fault Mgmt reinitialize is very simple task, which doesnt removes a lot of data, except past 31 days of FM history and custom notifications, if configured.
    Thanks
