CiscoWorks LMS3.2 to Prime 1.2

Hi
Does anybody knows what´s the path to upgrade to Cisco Prime 1.2?
Or if it is possible to install directly Prime 1.2, with what licencing?
I have Ciscoworks LMS 3.2
Thanks for your help

There is no direct migration from LMS 3.x Prime Infrastructure. Usually, Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.2 also includes the software and licenses to use Cisco Prime LMS 4.2.
In case you want the data, you have to migrate the data by taking backup and restoring it to CPI from LMS 4.x. LMS 3.x has also reached end of engineering and data migration is not possible.
As with CPI 1.2 you have LMS 4.2 licenses as well, you can have direct inline upgrade to LMS 4.2 on top of LMS 3.2 server.
The Prime Infrastructure 1.2 (bundle) includes:
•Prime Infrastructure 1.2 (product) - replaces Cisco Prime NCS 1.1 and NCS (WAN) 1.1
•Prime LMS 4.2
It's important to clarify that when we're talking about migrating from LMS to Prime Infrastructure, the only data involved is an inventory of the devices themselves.  There is no migration for historical data, network diagrams, users,
etc.  The data that gets brought over is simply the inventory.  Therefore the migration consists of exporting the devices into a spreadsheet in LMS, and using the bulk import feature in PI to import the CSV file.  Unfortunately there were some slight issues with the formatting of the exported spreadsheet versus what is needed to import into PI. Therefore some manual manipulations are required to get it to work.
With LMS 4.2.2, there is a way right from the web interface to export the device list with credentials that can be consumed by Cisco Prime Infrastructure. The device list can be exported from Administration > Export Data to Cisco Prime Infrastructure (under System). Then select Export Device List and Credentials from the export options.
Once you have the exported device list with credentials from LMS 4.2.2, it can be imported into Cisco Prime Infrastructure 1.3 by navigating to Operation > Device Work Center > Bulk Import.
Only migration supported from LMS to PI 1.2 is the device credential repository (DCR) information. We only support direct LMS4.2.x DCR to PI 1.2 exports/imports directly, but you could export from LMS 3.2 to CSV, then modify the CSV file to match what PI 1.2 is looking for, then import that data.

  • Ciscoworks LMS3.2 Device Support

I have recently upgraded to Ciscoworks LMS3.2 and noticed some devices are still showing as device type "unknown".  Is there an update available for LMS3.2 to support G2 Routers such as the 1900, 2900, and 3900 series?  If so, how do I go about applying this device update?  Thanks.

You can upgrade to the latest device packages from DOS like this:
    PSUCli.bat -p cmf -d -dst c:\psu_download -all
Will download Common Services packages to C:\psu_download\cmf.  Then install this way:
    PSUCli.bat -p cmf -install -src c:\psu_download\cmf -all
I prefer doing these device package updates via CLI as this lets you actually follow what is happening.

  • CiscoWorks LMS3.2 device selectability in RME Config Management

    Hello
All of a sudden we are unable to select individual devices in RME / Config Management, devices appear grayed out, we are able to select the whole device group and run the job but not individual devices. If we go to Device Center we can select individual devices and perform tasks.
We have tried restarting server (windows) and stopping and starting CW Daemon Manager, not sure what else to look at.
    Thanks in advance.
    carl bagge

Please try to break the integration with the following procedure:
CiscoWorks to local login mode (bring down ACS integration)
    1. Stop the daemon manager using:
    On Windows: net stop crmdmgtd
    On Solaris: /etc/init.d/dmgtd stop
    2. Execute the following script:
    On Windows: NMSROOT/bin/perl ResetLoginModule.pl
    On Solaris:/opt/CSCOpx/bin/ResetLoginModule.pl
    3. Start the daemon manager using:
    On Windows: net start crmdmgtd
    On Solaris: /etc/init.d/dmgtd start.
Note: You must have appropriate privileges on the system
    Windows =  Administrator
    Solaris = root
After this check if you are able to perform all the tasks without being integrated with ACS and then integrate again,  but in CW Common Services>Server>Security>AAA Mode Setup, please do not check the Application Registration box.

  • Is it possible to obtain a report from Ciscoworks LMS3.1 to detail the SNMP configuration of all devices?

I am about to update/standardize to secure the SNMP configuration for all devices in the network utilizing Ciscoworks.
There is likely to be variations amongst the devices. Therefore, I would like to generate one report for all the devices, capturing the SNMP configurations, is this possible?
I know how to complete the work afterwards but am struggling to produce a meaningful report that I can use to build my tasks from.
I am trying to achieve this using a particular 'role based' account via ACS, so it is possible that I don't have the permissions with this account at present which maybe why I'm not able to do it.
    Thanks!

Getting the SNMP trap community string is not trivial.  The reason for this is that anything which shows the configuration will have this field starred out. You can get to the value, but not in a report-like fashion.  You can, however, search the archived configs under RME > Config Mgmt > Archive Mgmt > Search Archive.  Assuming you know the SNMP trap receiver IP, you could search on:
    snmp-server host x.x.x.x old-string
That would show you all devices that still had the old community string.
If you need to force RME to get the new config data, you can simply schedule a Sync Archive job under RME > Config Mgmt > Archive Mgmt > Sync Archive.  Of course, if you made the changes outside of LMS, you will need to manually update DCR with the new community string.

  • Ciscoworks LMS3.2.1 ASR1002X device support??

I am unable to add ASR1002X routers to my inventory due to failure reason "device not supported".  Is this device type supported for LMS 3.2.1?
    RME ver 4.3.2

    No.
I believe the ASR 1002-X was just released in late 2012. LMS 3.2 was End of Sales in April 2011, with end of software maintenance in April 2012.
The last ASR package update for RME 4.3.2 was 3.1 (which added support for the ASR 901 and 903 - readme) released in February 2012.
Here is the Supported Devices Table for LMS 3.2.

  • Ciscoworks lms3.1 -- netconfig job problems

    Hi,
LMS 3.1,when i do a netconfig job for more than >5 devices, in the job tab the status is always showing as running. But when i do it for 2 or 3 devices as a batch it comes as successfull. Nevertheless the configurations are updated when more than 5 devices selected. We tried to reboot the server also. All the services are running in the common services>server>admin>processes tab.
Pls find enclosed the netconfigclient & jrm log files. We started the jobs around Tue Nov 17 07:00:03 hrs

Are you using SSH to connect to your devices?  If so, then you are most likely seeing a known bug where SSH sessions can lock up either deploying a config, or fetching a config.  All of the known SSH bugs are fixed in LMS 3.2, but patches for RME 4.2 are available from TAC.  The bugs are CSCsv95235, CSCsx24218, and CSCsw88378.

  • LMS3.2: Device Update didn't works

    Hello,
    I have CiscoWorks LMS3.2 with RME4.3.1 and CS 3.3.0.
When I will update the devices and I go to
Common Services - Software Center Device Update
and I mark Resource Manager Essential then I receive this window:
Now I choose the Rtr2900 package (same problem for all six packages) and when I will download it, then after define the destination path for the file I see this window:
Then I have tried to download it manually with the following command:
    PSUCli.bat -p rme -d -dst c:\psu_download -all
    this is the result:
Number of packages to be downloaded = 55
    Downloading packages...
Finished downloading [49] packages to c:\psu_download\rme
The six packages that are showed in the picture above were not downloaded.
I assume that there is an error on Cisco side because the size of the six packages is NA.
Am I right or have someone another idea why it didn't works?
Or is there another possibility to download the package for the Rtr2900?
    Many thanks.
    Regards,
    Alain

Your Dos prompt should be CD's to where this patch (CSCto46927-0.pl) is present. Which means when you do dir on DOS prompt, you should be able to see the listing of CSCto46927-0.pl.
Also you can run it from anywhere is you give path.
Example, if your patch (CSCto46927-0.pl) is in c:/patch/CSCto46927-0 directory, you can run it like following from C:\ in command prompt:
    c:\>NMSROOT\bin\perl  C:\patch\CSCto46927-0\CSCto46927-0.pl

  • Need assistance in Ciscoworks LMS 3.2 for enable monitoring of cisco switches

    Hello,
I am new to the ciscoworks LMS 3.2. I have a task to add a devices in ciscoworks and configure the SNMP on the devices and ciscoworks both. My company has bought the ciscoworks LMS3.2 in 2009 december since then one engineer has configured some devices in it but not fully. I tried to look into the guides and documentation but has huge stuff. My infrastructure lead also not familiar of ciscoworks tool. I know there is lot of documentation in it but I have very less time say this weekend I have to activate monitoring of devices in ciscoworks LMS 3.2. Can anyone please provide me the screenshots or step-by-step procedure to how to enable a device for monitoring who has prior experience on ciscoworks LMS 3.2.
    Regards,
    Ahmed

Regarding SNMP reachabilty, you are the man........ thats true the firewall is blocking, because the subnets for the swithces which i m trying to add into the ciscoworks are not added into the firewall. Those subnets are different than the other 20 switches which are shown as reachable.
and regarding the swithces which are already seen reachable, based on the document you have provided me for alert and monitoring of a device. I checked the DFM and configured as it is but still i didn't see any of the alert when I turned off one of the 4506E power supply. Is there something I am missing it.
What do you need from my side to provide information or screenshot so that we can sort out the issue of monitoring of the device. Should I get an alert even if the device goes down?
    regards
    Ahmed

  • How to upgrade CiscoWorks form evaluation?

    Hi
I have installed and configured an evaluation copy of CiscoWorks LMS3.2 but now that I purshased a copy from Cisco, I need to upgrade the license. Cisco have not provided any details of license. Could someone please let me know the procedure to follow for upgrading from evaluation to full version.
    Thanks

Place the license file you got from Cisco (i.e. the .lic file) under NMSROOT.  Then, go to Common Services > Server > Admin > Licensing, and click Update.  Select this .lic file, and all applications should become licensed.  No restart will be required.

I have been looking over the realease notes for each product trying to draw some conclusion on which titles support or dont support certain products.
Has anyone used these and can give a quick answer for when you would use each and if there are any gotchas or limits to watch out for?
It looks like Prime is a paid for product but will any of the free solutions (CNA, CCP, CCA) work with all enterprise level products (2950, 2960, 3560, 3750, 4948, 4900 4500 switches and 1800, 1900, 2800, 2900, 3800, 3900 routers) or do you have to use Prime to get a product that will mange these devices?
    Thank you in advance.

  • We are unable to discover

    Hi there,
We run CiscoWorks LMS3.2, and recently upgraded our old routers 2600 series to 2900 ( 2921 ). However for some reason CiscoWorks does not seem to recognize these new devices. We have tried removing a device and rediscover it but we are still having the issue. Are there any patches or is there anything we can do to fix the problem ??
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated ..
    Regards,
    Vlad

Vlado, what do you mean by "not recognising" the device? In which part of CiscoWork (CiscoView, RME, Campus Manager, DFM, Common Services) device has issue?
Also, please run snmpwalk with oid=.1.3.6.1.2.1.1 against the problematic devices and post the results.

  • HighErrorRate caused by the giants on VSL link

    Hi,
We are running into the Bug CSCsc61302: the giant packet counters on VSL interfaces increment in Catalyst 6500 VSS. It is an expected behavior, but we were paged up by CiscoWorks (LMS3.2) due to HighErrorRate (55~60%) at 2AM every morning.
We currently have dot3StatsEntry.13 excluded from SNMP view to supress the pages. But we loss the ability to monitor the giants alert caused by other unexpected behaviors because of it. Is there anyway that we can supress the error alerts caused by this VSL Giants and get all other interface error features properly monitored?
    Thanks.

No.  Other giants would be counted by the same object, so there is no way to differentiate giants caused by the bug vs. other giants.  It really looks like you've employed the best available workaround.  Filtering dot3StatsFrameTooLongs will remove giants from the error calculation, leaving other others visible.
