CiscoWorks Netconfig - "Not Attempted"

Hi All,
I've been tasked with amending the config on all of our Cisco kit around the organisation with additional lines to suit a new TACACS Server. I've tried around 140 so far and at least 30 have failed with the statement "not attempted". Checking the log on the devices there are none of the usual entries for a netconfig job and it does look a lot like Ciscoworks has indeed not attempted to amend the config. I've tried the same devices several times with the same result. The devices work fine in other areas of CW, e.g. the configs are being archived ok.
The frustrating thing is that there is no reason given why the device(s) has been skipped. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?
I'm running LMS 3.2 and RME 4.3.1
Many Thanks
Scott

What version of ACS are you running? And verify the devices are in ACS prior and get the IC_Server.log from CSCOpx/log.

  • LMS 3.2 Netconfig Not Attempted

    Hi,
We have LMS 3.2 in production. Some new devices have been discovered and added to the DCR. The config backup for these devices are working fine.
The Net config jobs are giving the output as " Not attempted".
what could be the reason for this.
The same user name and password is working from a terminal emulation software on LMS system.
    thanks in advance

  • NetConfig vs Not attempted in LMS

    Hi
I am using LMS 3.2. During changes of configs trough NetConfig very often I am noticed that more than half devices are "Not Attempted" state. I have checked some and I saw that NetConfig properly implemented my changes. But the other hands some didn't adopt. How can I diagnose where is the problem? On server side or device configuration?
    Can I debug this information?
I read LMS Help pages and I am not using "Stop on failure" and in previuos use of NetConfig everything was clear.
    Best regards

  • LMS 3.2 Config Editor : Config deployment is Not Attempted

    Hello gurus,
Using config editor in LMS 3.2, I'm trying to deploy a config, that was previously saved to the "public configs", to a device (overwrite to startup-config).
The job ends "Successfully", but looking at the detail, the deployment was "Not Attempted". Last time I used this function, I was running LMS 3.1, but we've since migrated to 3.2 it doesn't seem to work.
What logs can I look at to find out why the deployment was "Not Attempted" ?
    Many thanks,
    Alex.

    Can you do the following?
Please enable DEBUG for these modules
Step 1: RME -> Admin -> System Preferences -> Loglevel settings
    Config Editor
    Config Job
    NetConfig
    Step 2: Attach these logs:
    CSCOpx/log/CfgEdit.log
    CSCOpx/log/dcmaservice.log
    CSCOpx/log/dcmaclient.log
    CSCOpx/files/rme/jobs/ConfigEditorJob/
    CSCOpx/files/rme/jobs/NetConfigJob/
And include a screenshot as well and attach the logs from above steps.

  • LMS 3.2 Inventory collection - Job timeouts after ~5h, all devices "Not attempted"

    Hello All,
We have a strange problem with LMS 3.2 regarding Inventory Collection.
This problem started immediatelly after the LMS installation/upgrade (LMS 3.2 was installed on a new server, and LMS 2.6 database migrated to it).
All Jobs finish as failed, with all devices "not attempted".
Job hangs for a five and a half hours and then reports failed status.
The symptoms are the same for scheduled jobs and manually created jobs.
I also have opened a TAC case, but it seems that nothing relevant can be found in the IC_Server.log.
Also, according to a packet capture, it seems that LMS does collect SNMP data from devices after a job is started...
We tried to upgrade RME 4.3.0 to 4.3.1.
One Job immediately after the upgrade was succesful (Inventory was collected for manually selected device), but the next day all Inventory Jobs were failing again with the same symptoms...
Does anyone have a sugestion where to look for a problem trace?
    Thanks in advance!
    Ragards,
    Jasmina

    Hi Jasmina ,
Please chech the Existing MDF pacakge :
go to common service > software center > device update >>> check the checkbox for Cisco works common service   and click on check for updates
--if there is an Update , please upgarde the MDF version..
--Similarly look for any Available Device Pacakges update for RME , if there are Upgarde all the Device Pacakages ....
--After all of the above Task is done , Now re-run the Job and it still fails then share the IC_server.log  again..
    Thanks--

    ================================
    Hello All,
I'm trying to do a fresh install of Mac OS X 10.6 Server on my Mac Mini Server and at the end of the setup process I keep getting the above error.
I connect the Mac Mini Server to my home network using its build in wireless connection and when it asks me for my Primary DNS and Computer name I enter:
    Primary DNS: macminiserver.private
    Computer Name: Mac Mini Server
I have managed to get it complete the install once without error but I can't seem to be able to replicate the successes and it is driving me nuts Would appreciate any help and/or advice I can get.
    Thanks

Mac OS X Server expects functional DNS. If you don't have that (and on a NAT'd LAN, you don't have it until you set it up), you'll want to let Mac OS X Server set up its own "runt" DNS server. Once that's set-up and your installation is complete, you can rip it out and replace it with your own full DNS server configuration. And as is the usual course of further confusion here, no, you can't refer to your ISP DNS here, as that's not going to get a translation for NAT'd boxes on your LAN.
    Primary DNS: macminiserver.private
That's likely asking for a DNS server on your LAN. Press return and see if you can skip that prompt, and see if Mac OS X Server will then (as usual) set up the "runt" DNS server for you for this case.
    Computer Name: Mac Mini Server
I'd suggest "McNair" or "Foo" or something that'll be less typing than MacMiniServer.example.com, and I'd suggest getting yourself a real and registered domain name. While you can camp out in another domain or can create your own bogus domain name, migrating domains is a hassle and if/when you want to use some of your DNS publicly, you'll need a real and registered domain.

    Hi,
So you can have an HD resolution - but the requirement here is mutlichannel audio when using multiple screens.  So you would need to create a custom quality template with HD and multichannel audio and apply that at the conference template, you can then add the TX9000 with all three screens as HD instead of Full HD.

It looks like casuser cannot write to the dmgtDbg.log file.  Make sure casuser (or the casusers group) has full control over this and all log files.

  • Ciscoworks -- netconfig -- URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "JRM" : Not found

    Hi Cisco Team,
Im posting this case as i did not get a proper solution from the thread {https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/646282#646282,
scoWorks and Databases urgent}. Here the issue is almost same as ....
netconfig window opens with an error message ::
NS0033 : Error occured while processing.
This may be because of URN_NOT_FOUND : urn "JRM" : Not found !!
And an error in the jrm file as :: "FATAL ERROR : Can not connect to database cmf"
This issue started from the day when client noticed that there is a disk constraint in the drive and moved unwanted or non-ciscoworks related file to another storage area. So i was referring the old thread and did the below troubleshooting.
    net stop crmdmgtd
    net start crmdmgtd
    rebooted the ciscowoks server
Found the below files under NMSROOT\databases\cmf
    1.cmf.db (Did not find cmf.log)
    2.a folder called orig
I did not do NMSROOT\objects\db\win32\dbsrv9 -f NMSROOT\databases\cmf\cmf.db (Not sure any data will be lost after doing this step and not sure if it is required ??)
You may please find the attached pdshow, jrm.log, netconfigclient logs etc....Noticed that jrm is never started nor started if tried manually. And in services.msc CWCS cmf database status is neither showing as started nor stopped, but blank as attached in the screen shot.
    From the another thread {https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/680779#680779,
CiscoWorks LMS 2.2 Problems with Jobs (jrm process) }and confirmed that\CSCOpx\www\classpath\cisco\nm\cmf\DBService\DBserver.properties --have all the five lines properly.
Kindly help as soon as possible...
    ~PR

YES !! thats it, the issue is resolved......and im able to do netconfig jobs.
    This thread is closed.
    Note:-
I was afraid to do the below step prior to post this thread as i was unaware of the impact.
    dbsrv9 -f
Can you pls let me know what really the script does on the cmf database (dbsrv9 -f)
Could you let me know how to reinitialize the cmf/rme/ani etc (procedure)..
what precautions to be done b4 doing this...
how to confirm the connectivity to the databases of cmf/rme/ani etc.
Im sure there would be some commands to check this.
This is just to add my knowledge base.
    regards

  • Ciscoworks - Could not eneter enable mode

We recently used Ciscoworks to change our enable password on all our managed devices.  Since then it has been unable to archive the configurations.  We have changed the default credentials in Ciscoworks and have confirmed that they are correct by exporting the device, and also manually logging on using the credentials.
The weird thing is, any new devices that we add into ciscoworks are able to have their configs archived.  If we remove a device and add it in again the config archive works.
Any existing device does not get their config archived.
Any thoughts on how we can fix this?  I was thinking just delete everything and import them in again, but I’m not too sure of the process.
    Thanks.

If you go to RME >  Admin > Config Mgmt > Transport Settings and choose NetConfig as "Application Name", do you have TFTP as the primary  "config deploy" protocol?

  • CiscoWorks LMS: not receveing certain SNMP traps

CiscoWorks LMS 4.0.1 (I know it's old and unsupported).
Problem: not receiving certain SNMP traps.
For example: I receive trap like "STP new root" but not like "port put to err-disabled" or my custom traps (produced by EEM scripts).
I've investigated my situation and found out that switch sends traps and they reach* LMS but somehow LMS ignores them (there's no trace of them in GUI). I've read that some traps just pass through LMS but my traps are very important and I need to know about them.
    * I did Wireshark capture on LMS machine.
I'd like to know how to debug receiving of SNMP traps in LMS:
which specific debugs need to be enabled,
which specific log files need to be examined.

LMS uses DFM to process certain traps.
All traps it deems unimportant are dropped.
If you want to use the LMS GUI you can have you device send a SYSLOG message rather than a trap.
use logging source command to make the management interface send the message.
Then there is a GUI that allows you to launch an action on a message
    Cheers,
    Michel

  • Make OS X not attempt to mount disk?

I have a 2013 Macbook Pro 15 Inch. I have two main partitions of my internal hard drive. The first partition is OS X 10.9.2, the second is Ubuntu 14.04. Everytime I boot into OS X, I get an error message: "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." I then have the options of: "Initialize..." "Ignore" and "Eject" I know this is the Ubuntu partition. How can I make OS X never attempt to mount this partition? Or, is there a way to just make this error message stop popping up?

The retail Tiger (10.4) disc does not require OS 10.3 to be installed before you installed OS 10.4. You can install Tiger (10.4) on a blank drive with nothing installed on it previously.
It appears that you ended up with what you were trying to avoid... an upgrade disc that is useless to you.
