Ciscoworks Server Performance Issue

Hi ,
I have a CiscoWorks Server running LMS 2.6 version.I have seen the cpu utilization is spiking always between 85 - 95%.Also observed there are atleast 15-20 instances of cwjava.exe are running. The process dbsrv9.exe and sm_server.exe is taking memory around 1.1GB.
Please let me know is this the normal behavior in ciscoworks server. We are managing around 650 devices through ciscoworks server.
Please let me know your observation.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks & Regds,
Lalit

Hi Lalit,
When you say " the cpu utilization is spiking always between 85 - 95%." , do you mean it is sitting there continuously, or is it running at a lower level of CPU and then regularly spiking to 85 - 95 %.  Has your LMS server always run with this CPU utilization, or has it changed recently for no apparent reason ?
What platform are you running LMS 2.6 on, in particlar the CPU power and the amount of physical memory and swap space (Page file in windows) that you have configured ?
In terms of multiple cwjava.exe processes, that is normal.  To relate these processes to specific LMS process names, execute the command pdshow from the server cli and then match the process id to the process id for specific cwjava.exe processes.
The process dbsrv9.exe is the database server.  There should be multiple of these processes running, 1 for each database.  If you follow the process above you will be able to relate the one that is holding a lot of memory, to a specific LMS Database process.  Which one is holding the memory ?
The process sm_server.exe is one of the main processes for DFM.  It is normal for this process to hold a lot of memory and consume a lot of CPU (DFM is very resource intensive). In particular, each time you re-start the LMS daemons, DFM re-discovers all of the network elements that it is managing, and this is resource intensive and depending on the number of devices  can take some time to complete.
     I hope this helps.

  • Terminal Server performance issue

    Hi,
We have Acrobat Pro 11.0.07 on a Terminal Serveur ( windows server 2008 R2 standard) and got performance issue when we use acrobat. Acrobat use a complete core and this is slowing our server. Is there an other version of Acrobat to use or patch to fix that issue ?

    Hi Sean,

Did you try to login this terminal server locally ?

  • Bw server performance issue

    Hi All,
Our BW server is too slow after the refresh of the testing server.I will explain the problem in detail below.
here are the activities we undertook after basis handed the system back to us post refresh. I can't comment on any of the activites they(basis team) did as part of their process.
    1. De-scheduled all the process chains in BT1
    2. Checked the monitor (RSPCM) to see if any process chains had kicked off (at this point I was worried live source-system deltas were being extracted)
    3. The system showed 4-6 process chains that had kicked off.
    4. Quickly consulted with Basis - I was worried that the live source systems (RS1 and FS1) 'saw' the now refreshed BT1 system as 'BS1' (the live BW system)
    5. Agreed that the best step would to remove RS1 and FS1 as source systems to BT1. Going forward, we wouldn't want them connected anyway.
    6. I deleted both RS1 and FS1 as source systems to BT1 in the admin workbench (RSA1)
    7. This left the 'started' process chains in a yellow status and unfortunately removed the partner profile information from both FS1 and RS1 and no data loads were possible
    8. Basis corrected this error by 'Restoring' the source systems in RSA1
    9. Loads now possible from both source systems
    Our current problem is:
RSPCM hangs (left for over 4 hours) when run for 'Today'
Support are unable to reschedule the 'hung' process chains - I believe this is caused by the fact that they cannot turn the process chains red from RSMO - the system just hangs.
We believe the problem is isolated to loads from FS1.We have two source systems.FS1 and RS1.The loads from RS1 is  Now the server is too slow and we are unable to turn the amber loads to red. When trying to do so the system hangs.Pls help us on this.
    Regards,
    Supriya

    Hi,
When I give date range in rsmo  as 11.12.2007 to 19.12.2007,I can see lots of data loads are in yellow status. When I try to turn the amber loads to red the system hangs. These loads are from FS1(R/3 production). So I have checked in R/3 sm37 and I couldn't find any job which has started on 11th and still running. What could be the problem? How to turn these amber loads to red?Without doing this I cannot start any new deltas. Now the performance of the system is ok.Only problem we are facing is unable to reschedule 3 process chains and unable to kill the jobs which are running for a long time.I think by killling these jobs will help us to reschedule the process chains.Pls help us on this issue.
    Thanks in advance

  • My server Performance issue.

    Hi friends,
I have one of my quality system. Its response time is slow 2000 ms as i checked the average processing time is 977 ms with is far grater than the CPU time 300ms. As per this i though either the DB bottle neck or CPU bottle neck or Network issue causing this issue.
If this is the network issue the remaining servers are working fine.
Could you kindly suggest how to investigate this issue to make the performance better.
    Thanks.
    Chowdary.

    Hi Chowdry,
There is few recommendation from my side to improve the performance.
If you DB and CI is on the same server then check the value PHYS_MEMSIZE in Rz11 and adjust the value ...eg : if the 32 gb RAM is available in system then assign 22 GB to PHYS_MEMSIZE and leave 10 GB for DB..
Check in sm21 if any message related to network...
Please share the I/o Read and write time from db02 ....

    Hello,
Your output you posted does not makes sense or may be I am not able to understand it..If you want through analysis I need following from you
    1.
    select
    (physical_memory_in_use_kb/1024)Memory_usedby_Sqlserver_MB,
    (locked_page_allocations_kb/1024 )Locked_pages_used_Sqlserver_MB,

    process_physical_memory_low,
    process_virtual_memory_low
    from sys. dm_os_process_memory
2 What is reason for keeping Max server memory and Min server mmory almost equal. 55 G is MAX and 45 G is min.
    3. Does SQL server account has locked pages in memory privilege ?
    4. Did you see any out of memory error ?
5 Please post output of DBCC MEMORYSTATUS and SP_readerrorlog on skydrive and post location here.
PS: SQL server utilizing memory is normal behavior ,what you posted does not exactly points to memory pressure and what seems to me cause here is poorly written queries running.

  • CF Server performance issue

For the past couple years our Cold Fusion 8 sites (working
with Databases) on Windows 2003 goes down alot. It seems the System
Admins have to reboot Cold Fusion to get it back up about 2 or 3
times a week. They are not sure what is causing it to go down but
think it might be related to Access databases working with Cold
Fusion. Is this a configuration issue or is Access a recurrent
problem working with Cold Fusion where it brings it down alot?
    Please advise.

I'm a bit mystified that folks would offer that little bit of
info and ask, "please advise". You say you're "not sure what's
causing it to go down". Well that's job 1. You can't go on what
people guess at. What do the logs say? And not just the [CF]/logs,
but the [cf]/runtime/logs (or the [jrun]/logs, if on the
Multiserver form of deployment). And do you see any *pid*.log files
in the [cf]/runtime/bin (or [jrun]/bin) directory?
I realize these may be new resources for you to consider, so
sorry if I'm sounding a bit harsh. I'm just saying these are where
you need to start looking. I'm sure someone might reply to your
questions about Access, and certainly one could argue that you
should never use it, but before concluding that they necessarily
have anything at all to do with the problem, look instead for the
facts provided by the log files. CF doesn't just go down for no
    reason.
Or is the problem not that it goes down, but that it becomes
unresponsive? You say you're on CF8. Is that Enterprise or
Standard? If the former, what do you see going on in the Server
Monitor? If you're on Standard, consider tools like FusionReactor
or SeeFusion (commercial tools with trial editions) to help give
you still more diagnostics to go on, or look into the JRun metrics
    feature.
I realize that it's easy to feel at a loss, and that CF is a
black box. It's really not. You just need to know where to look and
how to connect the diagnostic dots. There's a good series of recent
troubleshooting blog entries by Mark Kruger, starting at
    http://www.coldfusionmuse.com/index.cfm/2008/8/11/troubleshooting-part1-gathering-informat ion.
There are similarly compelling troubleshooting blogs from Steven
Erat, Brandon Purcell, Robi Sen, and others. I'm not discouraging
your asking here. I'm just trying to help give you more resources
    to consider.
    Hope that's helpful.

  • Nidaq OPC server performance issue

I have an OPC client receiving data from the OPC server that is installed as part of NIDAQ and am finding the performance unacceptable.
The client is used in another application to receive updates to 256 channels at 70Hz from a non NI OPC server over the network using DCOM and in this case the client shows about 1% processor usage and the server about 3%.
With the NI OPC server I get about 2% processor on the client and 60% on the server and am limited to about 2Hz update rate with only 6 channels configured.
I know the client is OK - any ideas how I can get at least 20Hz out of the NI OPC server?
PS. Is this the correct place to ask this question? - there dosen't seem to be a place for NIDAQ questions.

Any ideas where I might get an answer to this problem?

  • AIX server performance issue?

    Dear
In our AIX server, we have 4 oracle Apps R12 instances are running namely CRP1,CRP2,VISION,Clone of CRP1. During CRP2 session, most of the users complains about performance. First reason may be 4 instances (single node) on same server. But my question, Is there any method or query or metalink document id that clearly give method to calculate performance of the instance? I ran Network Test against each instance, is 49.5 milli seconds on forms server and .1 milli second on database server.
    Any help highly appreciated.

  • Application Server performance  issues

I am a DBA consultant at a county government site that recently went live on FSCM 9.1 using Tools 8.53.04 Running Windows Server with MS-SQL Server 2012
A problem has started with our two Prod App Servers. There are a few hundred Accounting users on the system and they have been reporting extreme slowness going page to page, and many times getting kicked out of the system. I have launched Process Explorer, Resource Monitor, Task Manager on both App Serves and found individual PSAPPSRV processes peaking as high as 39% CPU and then bouncing down to 2%, back up to 17%, and all over the map
In PSADMIN I ran TMAdmin and shut down and then rebooted the individual processes that had the high cpu usage, but they spiked back up.
So we sent out a message for users to log off and bounced both app servers and cleared app server cache, however that didn't fix it either. This is the first time this has happened, so we ar soliciting feedback from other PS/MS-SQL DBA's to see if they have experienced this and how they handled it.
We looked at resources and each App Server (they are virtual) have only 16 GB of ram and each has two Opteron 2.79 Ghz processors. So we are thinking it is a resource problem, however this situation has not happened before
    Thanks in advance

Please review the following Km Doc E-AS: PSAPPSRV process Service Timeout=0 Causing Severe Slow Down of Application (Doc ID 1992038.1)
This can happen if the psdbgsrv process gets started:  E-AS: Service Timeout for PSAPPSRV reverts to = 0 after Domain Configuration (Doc ID 664081.1)
Please set the psappsrv process back to the servicetimeout of =300 after reviewing the above km docs and this should fix the issue.

  • How to find out how many users are connected to Exchange 2013 servers in "Online" mode? This is coz, online mode causing server performance issues in our environment

All, Any script or method to find out how many users are connected to exchange servers in online mode?
    Manju Gowda

    Hi
You have to get the "RPC Client Access" log file in your CAS server. There you can see a column called "client-mode" and it has two modes such

  • Exchange 2013 CU7 server performance/outage issues.

    Hi Forum,
We are constantly faced with incidents from users that the connections are lost with the exchange server. As a result, we hired a consultant to install an new Exchange 2013 environment based on the Microsoft, VM-Ware and NetApp best practices.
We are still having problems with performance issues. From the client prospective, the performance has not changed, weekly hangs are still happening and I’m at my wits end.
    This is our configuration:
2 Windows Server 2012 R2 CAS and DB
    VM with 4 vCpu, 16GB, 1 Vmxnet3, IPv6 disabled (the Microsoft way)
    VM Ware 5.1 U1
    Cluster without AAP
DB1 active on Server 1 (Datacenter 1 with 3 host cluster)
DB2 active on Server 2 (Datacenter 2 with 3 host cluster)
    Veeam 8 Backup (Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase DB2 -ActivateOnServer Server1 , backup server 2 then Move-ActiveMailboxDatabase back to
     Server2.
Exchange is in Online-Mode due to Citrix XD VDI clients.
    1300 Mailboxes and 750 users.
NetApp with SATA disks. (1.5TB E: Vol for DB1/1.5TB F: Vol for DB2)
    No archiving
    Unlimited mailbox sizes.
    The problems are:
    If we migrate a non-Exchange VM in the same cluster or to\from the same host, this results in a 30 second to 5 min Outlook outage;
    If we make both DB’s active on mail server 1 and reboot server 2, this results in a 30 second to 5 min Outlook outage;
    If we make both DB’s active on mail server 1 and do a Veeam backup of server 2, sometimes one of the DB’s go back to server 1, on its own;
    While monitoring we see that the w3wp.exe and the Microsoft.Exchange.Store.worker.exe are consuming most of the cpu and memory;
What can I do to solve the outages?
    Tnx. Timotatty.

    Hi Simon,<o:p></o:p>
Apparently we are using basic authentication which result in a FailingCode=401 as seen in the Event Log under Active Monitoring --> Probe Results from ECP and others. This
became apparent after reading this blog:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/ehlro/archive/2014/02/20/exchange-2013-managed-availability-healthset-troubleshooting.aspx<o:p></o:p>
We are now overriding some of the monitors which require Forms Based Authentication.<o:p></o:p>
Regarding the other 2 issues we have changed the licensing model for Veeam 8 to allow full throughput which will reduce the backup time and add compression.
The KEMP support team helped us by deselecting Use HTTP/1.1 under View/Modify Services --> ECP –> Modify --> Real Servers. This
now only flags a service (ECP or ActiveSync or OWA) as being down instead of an etire server should one component fail.<o:p></o:p>
I am satisfied but still not happy with the steps required to troubleshoot an Unhealthy Health Sets:<o:p></o:p>
Invoke-MonitoringProbe always returns with: WARNING: Could not find assembly or object type associated with monitor identity '<Healthe Set >\< Probe >'. Please ensure
that the given monitor identity exists on the server.
This makes it very difficult to troubleshoot
    Unhealthy Health Sets.

    Timotatty

On googling this seems to be an issue with java file handling on windows servers and I couldn't find a solution yet. Any recommendation or pointer is appreciated

    Hi shubhu,
I just analyzed your partial Thread Dump data, the problem is that the ajax4jsf framework ResponseWriterContentHandler triggers internally a new instance of the DocumentBuilderFactory; every time; triggering heavy IO contention because of Class loader / JAR file search operations.
Too many of these IO operations under heavy load will create excessive contention and severe performance degradation; regardless of the OS you are running your JVM on.
Please review the link below and see if this is related to your problem.. This is a known issue in JBOSS JIRA when using RichFaces / ajaxJSF.

  • Performance issues-assigning background jobs to a designated server

Hello all, we have been having peformance issues in our production enviorment and were entertaining the idea of running all our our background jobs on a separate/designated server.  Has anyone had any experience with this and if so any insight on how you did this would be appreciated?  Thanks.

I suppose your performance issues are then for the online users? In general, the best option should be to distribute the workload as much as possible, to avoid performance problems for online users as well as background jobs.
I agree with Atish, this is something for Basis people. Ask them (hopefully that's not you to look at their application server settings. I know where I used to work before they had set up the system so only a certain part of the dialog processes could be occupied by background jobs. I am sure SAP has a lot of parameters that can be tweaked, possibly also with time-dependent settings?
