Citrix ICA Client Problems

Question: Why does my Citrix ICA Client keep quitting?
Background: I've been using the Citrix ICA Client (v. 6.3) to access a Windows network at a firm I'm consulting for. I connect through something called the MetaFrame Presentation Server. Everything starts fine; I'm able to connect to the server and open a session. Eventually, however, the client quits on me. I get the standard dialog box "The Application 'Citrix ICA Client' has quit unexpectedly." This is annoying, but the real problem is that when I try to reconnect, I can't! The IT folks have to do something on their end with the server to allow me to get back in. Needless to say, they are getting tired of this. They haven't found an explanation on their end, so I'm working on it from this end.
I'm working on a broadband network, cable modem, wired connection to a router (which also is a wireless hub, for my spouse's laptop). FWIW, most of the quits seem to occur while I'm using MS-Word (2004), but then, I'm almost always using that.
I don't have any info on the nature of the Windows network or server, but could get it if necessary. I was hoping there might be a known issue (with a known solution!) that wasn't that dependent on the specifics on the other end.

Same here - Safari won't fire up the ICA client.
My work-arount is
- right-click and save the linked file (with the .ica extension). Clicking on this file finally starts the ICA client.
- or to use firefox

  • Problems with Citrix ICA Client

    Guys,
To work from home, my employee provides web access using Citrix ICA Client. I used to log into a given web page, type my ID, fixed pasword and a 'token' password, and when I clicked the option I wanted, it opened the Citrix client and all worked fine.
Since I've updated to Lion, it's not working. It keeps giving a message to 'update to a browser that supports Java for Cocoa, such as Safari'.
The problem is that I'm already using Safari… I even tried it with Chrome and Firefox, but ig gives the same error message...
    Need help! Please!
    Cheers,
    Sandro

  • Does the Citrix ICA client work with Safari for Windows XP?

I really like safari for XP so far. However, I use the Citrix ICA client software to remotely access programs from a server at work. I tried following instructions on the Citrix knowledge base site for installing the client for Firefox, etc. since they did not have any info on Safari for windows. Please help, or I will be stuck using Explorer. Thanks.

The Citrix ICA client doesn't work with Safari on a Mac. Given the number of bugs and other problems with the Safari 3 Beta for Windows, I'd guess that the chances of Citrix working with this release are slim to none. However, the Citrix ICA client works well with Firefox 2.0, in case you're interested in trying it.

  • Arch64: really need to get Citrix ICA client 10 working (and others)

    Hi,
I am currently running Arch64 Voodoo on my Dell M65 notebook. It is a really great and fast distro and I am trying to make it my default distribution ....... however for my work I absolutely Must use the citrix ICA client (v10).
Unfortunately it won't install, it gives me a wrong ELF class on libxaw.so.7
I looked around in the community llib32 stuff, but it doesn't appear to be there, can anyone help me getting ICA working, I really need this and It would suck having to switch to another distro or the 686 version. There isn't a source version from ICA available so I cannot compile it myself.
On a side note I also have a minor java problem, I want to install azureus but that has a dependency to jre6 and I want to install OpenOffice.org but that has a dependency fo java-cgj-compat, does anyone have a olution for this? I already downloaded SUN's jre from their site but ofcourse the package azureus doesn't know this.
    thanks a lot in advance,
    stefan

I haven't heard of these emul32 packages before, but I think what you need are the proper lib32 packages. Specifically one for libxaw. Unfortunately, one isn't available in the AUR. I took a look at some of the other lib32 PKGBUILDs and all they seem to do is download the i686 package for the corresponding library, uncompress it, and copy all the shared object files to /opt/lib32/usr/lib. With all that said, here is a PKGBUILD for lib32-libxaw.
I won't be adding this to the AUR because I don't use it & therefore don't want to maintain it, but anyone else may submit it if they choose.
Looks like this library should depend on libxmu, libxpm and libxp. The first is available in the community repo as lib32-libxmu. The other two can be downloaded from the AUR as lib32-libxpm and lib32-libxp.

Has anyone heard of a Citrix ICA connection, if so how did you connect through your MAC OS-X, The error message that I get "The Archive required to make an SSL connection are not avialible". Any suggestions.

Ah, I know it well. The quick solution is to use Firefox or Camino rather than Safari. But first you can get the Citrix ICA client from http://www.citrix.com/site/SS/downloads/details.asp?dID=2755&downloadID=3250

  • Is there a Citrix/ICA client integration

Is there a Citrix/ICA client integration portlet available, now? Is there any sample code?
    Please help

    Bernhard,
I am not aware of a portlet for Citrix/ICA, at this point. There are many consulting partners who might build one for you, if you are interested. Check the "Portal Catalog" on the portal community site for information about these portal partners.

  • Printing from Citrix ICA Client

Have recently been attempting to connect my husband's medical office to the local hospital through Citrix,(MetaFrameXP). We are a MacOS network running 10.4 on 6 iMac G5s.In addition we are putting this on his MacBookPro running 10.4.8. Citrix ICA Client7.00.407 has been downloaded, redownloaded, installed, uninstalled, reinstalled multiple times on two different workstations. We are finally connected-kudos to Apple support forum suggesting using Firefox. It has been very problematic with no support from the hospital whose liason people have reiterated that they don't support Macs-an understatement. Citrix web site is not much help and their forum for Macs seem to indicate that Citrix isn't responsive to Mac users either. Though we are finally connected, we are unable to print to our HP1320tn. We get a print window with "default printer" in the pull down as the only option. Click it-nothing. Noplace to go to change any print driver options- something that might be corrected on the server at the hospital but from posts to the forum, it looks as though admin guys are having a problem with the fix at their end to. From Citrix forum, this seems to have become more of a problem since their ClientICA upgrade to version 7-our only option. Several posted that they were able to print by going back to version 6 of Client. Great if you've been a user but Citrix advised today by phone that it's not available if it's not on the web-they do not make available older versions. Explained situation to hospital rep and asked to speak to IT guy. He did not want to let me talk to him-says Mac use is a "touchy" subject with the IT department. I'll be pushing that issue further but I'm not certain that they'll be able to help anyway. Does anyone have any ideas or alternately access to ICAClient6 MacOsX that we could get to? I'm definitely feeling like a Star-Bellied Sneetch with stars upon thars. DEW

    Thank you Stress Test.
But I was looking further using the new Citrix name you mentioned and found now this updated Citrix file. It is a file from August 27th. So I will try that one first.

  • Wireless security VPN client -vs-Citrix ICA client

I'm researching as to which method will be preferable for our "internal" wireless deployment.
I'm trying to create a brief "Pros and Cons" for each method
    VPN = IPSEC tunnel
    ICA =128 bit encryption.
    any thoughts

This is primarily a placement concern.
If you are going to use the ICA client, you will need to firewall your wireless network from your private, wired network.
This might not be necessary if you are using a VPN appliance with firewall features built-in, like the Cisco and Nortel boxes.
Personally, I can't stand remote user VPNs, so I would recommend using secure ICA and firewall the wireless equipment. You can use a spare firewall interface for this, but make sure that the firewall policy only permits tcp 1494 from the wireless network to the private network. You will need to configure your ICA client with an IP address, not a DNS name (because you aren't permitting DNS traffic). Do not permit any traffic from the wireless network to the Internet or any other networks - let them get Internet surf in the ICA window.
Most people would argue for IPSEC VPN with 3DES. I think that is definatly more secure, but will require more planning and support. The ICA client is much easier to install than most RUVPN clients and you don't need to worry about cached logon credentials, password sync, etc. Bottom line: ICA is going to be much easier to maintain and manage and the users will probably find it a lot easier to use.
You may also consider using two-factor authentication with either solution. That would bring the risk down considerably. SecurID agents work on Citrix and in most RUVPNs.
    Hope this helps.

  • Could anyone tell me how to download and install a Citrix ICA client on my MBP?

the citrix client works fine on my old toshiba but i'm not really sure what to do with the MBP.  when i tried to open the download i got a message that said "no application set to open the doc."  do i need to download something else to open the application first.

  • Citrix ICA client: Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped), GLib overflow?

Using the icaclient from the AUR, I'm trying to launch the .desktop launcher titled "Citrix Receiver Self Service".  In discovering that it does not load any UI elements, I found that its .desktop file, /usr/share/applications/wfcmgr.desktop, contained the command "/opt/Citrix/ICAClient/selfservice --icaroot /opt/Citrix/ICAClient".  Launching this simply returns "Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)", so I ran it through strace to get a little more information about the crash:
    $ strace /opt/Citrix/ICAClient/selfservice --icaroot /opt/Citrix/ICAClient
    (selfservice:7661): GLib-ERROR **: gmem.c:359: overflow allocating 1952539681*4 bytes
    ) = 87
    --- SIGTRAP {si_signo=SIGTRAP, si_code=SI_KERNEL, si_value={int=1, ptr=0x1}} ---
+++ killed by SIGTRAP (core dumped) +++
    Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)
Looks like there's an overflow in GLib there.  Any thoughts on how I can fix this and launch the application?

Following uncon's work, I ran this command in /opt/Citrix/ICAClient and got this:
    $ find . -type f -executable -exec ldd "{}" \; | grep " not found$" | awk '{ print $1 }' | sort -u
    libavcodec.so.52
    libavutil.so.50
    libgssapi.so.2
Looks like there are some old libs that the precompiled, proprietary icaclient binaries can't find (sigh).

When I installed firefox, it asked if I wanted to use safari settings and I said yes but I think this might be causing the problem. Safari is no longer compatible with citrix ica client. When I reinstalled firefox it automatically installs the safari info. Does anyone know how to re-install firfox without installing safari info?

Did anyone ever suggest you reset your PRAM?
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
Also might want to try resetting the SMC, although I
    doubt there's an issue there.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304123
I'm getting tired of people who supposedly know what
they're doing simply guessing that resinstalling the
OS might solve the issue. It's like trying to dissect
a frog with a sledge hammer, and wondering why you
didn't learn anything about anatomy in the process.
These sorts of things, although bizarre, should be
(and probably are) fixable without major surgery.
Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.
Would TechTool Pro detect a bad HD or RAM?
    Thanks....

  • Opening downloaded .asp (Citrix ICA) files with Safari

I would like to have Safari, after downloading a Citrix connection file, open the Citrix ICA Client application and then use the file the establish a connection.
In other browsers, you can set this up under "helper applications" or something like that. I can't find where this is done in Safari.
I have Tiger and Citrix 7.02 for Mac. G3 IMAC.
    Thank you

  • Cache entry not found error message in java console 1.6.0_05 - Citrix ICA

    Client information:_
    Windows XP_SP2
    Java Runtime version 1.6.0_05
    Application: Citrix ICA version 9.4.1868
Slow citrix ICA client connection, repeated errors in the java console stating "cache entry not found". However when I downgrade to Java Runtime version 1.5.0_10 I do not see the "cache entry not found" errors and the Citrix ICA connection is much faster. Basically launches and connects in 10 seconds versus 2 minutes.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi,
All your classes must be accessible through the web. The easiest solution is to put all your classes in the same folder as your web page.
If your classes are in a different folder (which must be mapped as a virtual directory), try adding the codebase attribute to your applet.

  • Cisco Secure Desktop accessing ICA Client

    Hi ,
I am running an ASA with activated CSD - the deloyment is working perfectly - however I am facing two probs:
    - accessing a Citrix Server farm takes ages
    - the Citrix ICA Client just don't start
no matter what settings I am changing (hints on some Java related version issues) I am adapting. Without the CSD everything runs smooth....
    Any Ideas
    Thanks
    Stephan

    Hi,
You can use CSD to perform advance endpoint assesment policies.
However, to check for a specific list of AV, Anti-spyware, among others, you will need the advance endpoint assesment license.
When you enable CSD, and connect to a specific connection profile where CSD is enabled, the ASA will push down the module to the client's machine, so it will be able to send all the system information to the ASA.
