Citrix - Ica Master browser problem

Hi,
Accessing published applications using Netlet requires the citrix_start.html
file to have a parameter: address with value: localhost
like this <param name="address" value="localhost">
We have a terminal server farm using ICA master browsing for load balancing
and listing of published applications. For the loadbalancing to work the
address parameter have to be the name of the published application <param
name="address" value="published_application">
It seems like we cant use the Ica Master Browser for load balancing when
using the Netlet. Anyone succeeded in this?

Windows Shares Not Showing Up In Finder (Master Browser Problem)

Hi, on leopard I had no problems with Windows shares showing up in finder. However, having upgraded to Snow Leopard, I've now lost that ability.
Before I had my Leopard computer set as the master browser. I did this by specifying domain master = yes and preferred master = yes in my smb.conf. However despite importing these settings into Snow Leopard's smb.conf, it is not acting as a master browser.
When I run the command "nmblookup -M -- -" which in Leopard returned my Mac as the master browser, now it says "failed to find name _MSBROWSE_#01".
I'm sure this is why the Windows PC is not showing up in finder, but I don't know why the smb-conf isn't taking effect in Snow Leopard, and setting it as the master browser?
Also, I can use Go -> Connect to access my Windows shares, and Mac shares show up in Vista okay.
Any help appreciated.

Problems with Citrix ICA Client

Guys,
To work from home, my employee provides web access using Citrix ICA Client. I used to log into a given web page, type my ID, fixed pasword and a 'token' password, and when I clicked the option I wanted, it opened the Citrix client and all worked fine.
Since I've updated to Lion, it's not working. It keeps giving a message to 'update to a browser that supports Java for Cocoa, such as Safari'.
The problem is that I'm already using Safari… I even tried it with Chrome and Firefox, but ig gives the same error message...
Need help! Please!

Same here - Safari won't fire up the ICA client.
My work-arount is
- right-click and save the linked file (with the .ica extension). Clicking on this file finally starts the ICA client.

Citrix ICA Client Problems

Question: Why does my Citrix ICA Client keep quitting?
Background: I've been using the Citrix ICA Client (v. 6.3) to access a Windows network at a firm I'm consulting for. I connect through something called the MetaFrame Presentation Server. Everything starts fine; I'm able to connect to the server and open a session. Eventually, however, the client quits on me. I get the standard dialog box "The Application 'Citrix ICA Client' has quit unexpectedly." This is annoying, but the real problem is that when I try to reconnect, I can't! The IT folks have to do something on their end with the server to allow me to get back in. Needless to say, they are getting tired of this. They haven't found an explanation on their end, so I'm working on it from this end.
I'm working on a broadband network, cable modem, wired connection to a router (which also is a wireless hub, for my spouse's laptop). FWIW, most of the quits seem to occur while I'm using MS-Word (2004), but then, I'm almost always using that.
I don't have any info on the nature of the Windows network or server, but could get it if necessary. I was hoping there might be a known issue (with a known solution!) that wasn't that dependent on the specifics on the other end.

When I installed firefox, it asked if I wanted to use safari settings and I said yes but I think this might be causing the problem. Safari is no longer compatible with citrix ica client. When I reinstalled firefox it automatically installs the safari info. Does anyone know how to re-install firfox without installing safari info?

I'm getting tired of people who supposedly know what

Thanks for the suggestion... but I think my first question would be why these parameters would need re-setting? This is a new machine... It has never been shut down hard. It is used at most 10 hours per week... mostly using Office 2004 for MAC. I need to figure this out as I will soon need it as a Cs2/CS3 - Aperture workhorse.
I too agree that it is best not to use a sledge when a scalpel is needed... but as a novice to the MAC world I may have been misled by Apple support. I seems to have fixed the symptoms ( some) but appears NOT to have addressed the cause... which is what I am after.
Would TechTool Pro detect a bad HD or RAM?

EA4500: poor performance as Master Browser - how to disable or make it work?

I have EA4500 acting as a router on domainless all-Windows network of two XP machines.
Unfortunately, EA4500 aggressively grabs the role of the Master Browser (I am talking about Computer Browser Service) on the network (regardless in which order you power the devices up) and then doesn't serve as a working Master Browser - both Windows machines stop listing the network computers in the "Network Neighborhood" and incur massive timeouts when attempting to view the listing.
A quick look with 'browstat.exe status' reveals that indeed the router has announced itself as a Master Browser device, but returns errors when you query it.
Quite predictably, without the router, both machinces figure out amongst each other who will be the Master Browser and everything works fine. The problems begin only when you add the router to the network.
Hence the questions:
1) Is there any way to make EA4500 work like a full-blown Master Browser (the one that not only announces itself, but also serves as such)? That would be really nice, as having a Master Browser integrated in "always-on" router would really improve the predictability of the network.
2) If not, is there any way to disable the Master Browser on EA4500? For now I managed to achieve that by assigning the router to different workgroup name, but this is lame, as I now can't connect a disk storage to the router and use it within the same workgroup.

I have the same problem.
I also tried bridge mode, but this case all functions are disabled, so the smart part is useless.... and still samba is running and messing up the whole network.
I checked the firmware, seems SSH included in the kernel, is it possible to ssh into the EA4500 and modificate the samba config file????

E3000 Share/Master Browser issue

How do I turn off the network share on my E3000?
What is hapening is this:
My Windows XP Computer and my WD TV Live can not see network computers and their shares (The E3000 is seen on the network only). When I attempt to browse the workgroup in Windows XP I get 'error 53'.
It turns out that the E3000 is becoming the master browser when ever the computers on the network are shut off for a short period of time. The E3000 does not do a very good job of being the master browser.
As a work around, I put the E3000 workroup to something different than all the other workgroup computers.
There is no question that the issue is with the E3000. When I make a computer on the network master browser, the XP computer and the WD Live work fine. I prove this by running nbtstat -a <netbios name>.
This does need to be fixed in the E3000 firmware. I already upgraded to the latest (1.0.03)
Anyone have any suggestions on how to escelate this issue?

I had exactly the same problem after replacing my 3COM router to E3000.
I solved the problem by logging to the the web interface of the E3000 -> Storage -> Administration -> changing the group name from "Workgroup" to "WORKGROUP"
I have in my network 1 XP SP3 machine and 3 Widnwos 7 machines.
In the Win XP machine I was not able to browse the list of the machines but I was able to to browse the machince after entering the name in the address bar (i.e \\Tony-PC)
In the Win 7 machines I was not able to see only the Win XP machnice but entering the address was fine.
Changing the workgroup name from "Workgroup" to "WORKGROUP" in the E3000 as I mentioned solved the problem (even without any restarts and/or resets)
I spent almost 5 hours and I got crazy because of that silly thing.
I hope that this will help other people

Printing from Citrix ICA Client

Have recently been attempting to connect my husband's medical office to the local hospital through Citrix,(MetaFrameXP). We are a MacOS network running 10.4 on 6 iMac G5s.In addition we are putting this on his MacBookPro running 10.4.8. Citrix ICA Client7.00.407 has been downloaded,redownloaded,installed,uninstalled,reinstalled multiple times on two different workstations. We are finally connected-kudos to Apple support forum suggesting using Firefox. It has been very problematic with no support from the hospital whose liason people have reiterated that they don't support Macs-an understatement. Citrix web site is not much help and their forum for Macs seem to indicate that Citrix isn't responsive to Mac users either. Though we are finally connected, we are unable to print to our HP1320tn. We get a print window with "default printer" in the pull down as the only option. Click it-nothing. Noplace to go to change any print driver options- something that might be corrected on the server at the hospital but from posts to the forum, it looks as though admin guys are having a problem with the fix at their end to. From Citrix forum, this seems to have become more of a problem since their ClientICA upgrade to version 7-our only option. Several posted that they were able to print by going back to version 6 of Client. Great if you've been a user but Citrix advised today by phone that it's not available if it's not on the web-they do not make available older versions. Explained situation to hospital rep and asked to speak to IT guy. He did not want to let me talk to him-says Mac use is a "touchy" subject with the IT department. I'll be pushing that issue further but I'm not certain that they'll be able to help anyway. Does anyone have any ideas or alternately access to ICAClient6 MacOsX that we could get to? I'm definitely feeling like a Star-Bellied Sneetch with stars upon thars. DEW

Does the Citrix ICA client work with Safari for Windows XP?

I really like safari for XP so far. However, I use the Citrix ICA client software to remotely access programs from a server at work. I tried following instructions on the Citrix knowledge base site for installing the client for Firefox, etc. since they did not have any info on Safari for windows. Please help, or I will be stuck using Explorer. Thanks.

The Citrix ICA client doesn't work with Safari on a Mac. Given the number of bugs and other problems with the Safari 3 Beta for Windows, I'd guess that the chances of Citrix working with this release are slim to none. However, the Citrix ICA client works well with Firefox 2.0, in case you're interested in trying it.

Arch64: really need to get Citrix ICA client 10 working (and others)

I am currently running Arch64 Voodoo on my Dell M65 notebook. It is a really great and fast distro and I am trying to make it my default distribution ....... however for my work I absolutely Must use the citrix ICA client (v10).
Unfortunately it won't install, it gives me a wrong ELF class on libxaw.so.7
I looked around in the community llib32 stuff, but it doesn't appear to be there, can anyone help me getting ICA working, I really need this and It would suck having to switch to another distro or the 686 version. There isn't a source version from ICA available so I cannot compile it myself.
On a side note I also have a minor java problem, I want to install azureus but that has a dependency to jre6 and I want to install OpenOffice.org but that has a dependency fo java-cgj-compat, does anyone have a olution for this? I already downloaded SUN's jre from their site but ofcourse the package azureus doesn't know this.

I haven't heard of these emul32 packages before, but I think what you need are the proper lib32 packages. Specifically one for libxaw. Unfortunately, one isn't available in the AUR. I took a look at some of the other lib32 PKGBUILDs and all they seem to do is download the i686 package for the corresponding library, uncompress it, and copy all the shared object files to /opt/lib32/usr/lib. With all that said, here is a PKGBUILD for lib32-libxaw.
I won't be adding this to the AUR because I don't use it & therefore don't want to maintain it, but anyone else may submit it if they choose.
Looks like this library should depend on libxmu, libxpm and libxp. The first is available in the community repo as lib32-libxmu. The other two can be downloaded from the AUR as lib32-libxpm and lib32-libxp.

It is strange that the network caused the Sleep Reason: Button or Lid.
Additionally, there is a large time span between 8/26/2014 5:11:43 and 2/26/2014 3:21:49.

Master Browser Issue (OS Level = 65)

All -
So we're running a Windows Server 2003 R2 Active Directory, with a single Mac file server bound to AD (so that we can share out some files via AFP to a small set of Mac workstations). For some reason, the Mac server keeps insisting on forcing itself as the Master Browser on the domain.
I know the "fix" of editing SMB.conf is posted all over the 'net. I've tried editing both /etc/smb.conf and /var/db/smb.conf - but nothing seems to work. Anytime I restart the SMB service (serveradmin stop/start smb), the /var/db/smb.conf file is modified or overwritten to include "os level = 65". And sure enough, any election results in the Mac server winning.
Any thoughts on how I can stop this from happening?

Ah yes, welcome to "Browser Wars".
If you think it's fun with the mac you should see what Win95 will do to you.
Open SA, go to the SMB service and to the advanced tab (I presume you have the SMB service turned on). There you will see two services listed, and possibly checked: "Workgroup Master Browser" and "Domain Master Browser". If you don't want any browsing services then make sure that the WINS registration is turned off and you should be able to clear the two browser buttons, otherwise, make sure that you have entered your 2k3 server as the Wins server in "Register with" and then turn off the Domain Master.
The problem is that every windows box, regardless of whether it is a server or not, is a browser. This is because all windows boxes must support peer-to-peer and to do so they have to keep a local copy of the surrounding 24 box names. Because of this you can end up with "notwork neighborhood" syndrome where the network neighborhood listing is incomplete because the box you are on has pulled it's listing from something other than a server (where you get your copy from is totally dependent on the latency between the box and the server. It's a first one to answer situation). There is nothing wrong with the Mac being the master browser, as long as network neighborhood accurately reflects your full domain.
Under WinNT server there were additional tools that showed you the master browser election fights, but I don't believe they exist anymore. They were fun to watch, and eye opening. You should see what happens when a Win9x laptop wins.

Backing up QuickTime's advice --
Unless your bank's website is insecure, you're fine. Go up to the Safari "Search" bar and type in Rapport. You'll be amazed. It may "work" on PCs, but definitely not Macs. And it's not needed for Macs.

Need help with Rollover Image cross browser problem

I am having a cross browser problem with my websites rollover nav links. The trouble is, while they work perfectly fine in IE8 and IE9, I’ve also attempted to use them through Opera, and they simply don’t work. They don’t link nor do they do their rollover effect. And I was trying to figure out what I have done wrong. Currently the site is not completed, but the first two pages are, the “news” and “about me” pages are currently (as of right now) working. When I disable CSS in my browser, the rollover buttons work just fine. This tells me your CSS is messed up and you've layered something over your menus which is making them inaccessible to users.
I noticed you've applied relative positioning to just about everything on your page. Why?   Default CSS positioning (unspecified or static) is all you need for 98% of layouts.

Non Domain Computers Becoming Master Browser

Hello,
I am troubleshooting an issue with the master browser service when an external user connects his workgroup laptop to our domain network and wins the election.
The network consists of a domain controller which has the following registry settings
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\IsDomainMaster = True
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Browser\Parameters\MaintainServerList = Yes
All the client computers that are connected to the domain have IsDomainMaster = False and MaintainServerList = No.
When an external user connects to the network with a laptop that isn't part of the domain it causes a master browser election and wins. All the servers and client computers list only media devices instead of all the computers and servers on the network.
Is there a way to prevent non domain computers from becoming the master browser without changing registry settings on that computer?
