Citrix is not working post Yosemite upgrade

Post the upgrade to Yosemite, my citrix application is not opening. I am being asked to install Java application everytime I boot even though I have installed. Not sure if both are related. I need citrix application to connect to my work. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

Since I am not familiar with the application, I am answering assuming that the Java issue is connected to the application problem.
Are you sure you have Java installed? An upgrade of OS X to a new major version, such as Mavericks to Yosemite, will delete at the very least the functional components of all Java installations (likely for security and/or compatibility concerns).
If you are sure, which Java do you have installed, and what is the nature of the Java install message?
Some applications on OS X still require the Java 6 runtime supplied by Apple which is now considered 'Legacy Java'. It is a seperate install to Oracle's Java, and as such installing Oracle's Java 7 or 8 will not dismiss the message to install the Legacy Java.
There are some convoluted methods involving the terminal to 'force' legacy dependent apps to recognise the Oracle Java. These procedures are not recommended, as they may cause problems with the applications.

motion 4 will not work after yosemite upgrade

To be honest I do not use motion or any other compositing app so i do not miss it personally. However the new Motion is not that expensive, around $60 i think. Still, I understand your frustration.
I am afraid the more the OS is updated the less compatible certain applications will become.
    Good Luck

  • Share via Mail not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi all,
I recently upgraded from Lion to Yosemite and now I cannot use the Send via Mail option in Pages (or Numbers for that matter).
I searched for this already in another tread but the answer (permission repair) did not work. The Exporting option still works, although it wants to save the file in a strange location, namely LIBRARY - CACHES - CLEANUP AT STARTUP - COM.APPLE.IWORK.PAGES.8572.TEMP.XXXXXXX    instead in DOCUMENTS or DESKTOP.
Any and all advice on this small but annoying inconvenience is welcome :-)
    Thanks
    Ray

Pages '09 v4.3 has lost this capability on Yosemite. Export to desired document format, and then drag/drop into Mail body.

  • Share option for email does not work after Yosemite upgrade.

    Hi,
Does anybody know why the share option, "Share via email" does not work anymore after Yosemite upgrade?  I love this feature.  It's just quick and easy.
    Rod.

On Yosemite, Pages '09 v4.3 no longer recognizes the Share > Send Via Email categories. You will have to export and manually drag/drop/attach documents to Mail. There is no fix.

  • Mail does not work after yosemite upgrade

I have two iMac desktops, one iMac 27" bought this year and another iMac 24" bought four years ago. I applied the Yosemite upgrade for both they were both running the Maverick with no problem at all), the new one works flawlessly but the old one has one problem with Mail, it won't send emails, it does receive them alright though. I tried using the service provider (Swisscom) repair tool and it says that all emails parameters are correct.
One thing strikes me: Whereas the new iMac received a visible new graphical upgrade of the Mail software (meaning a translucent background and different colors in the left column), the old 24" still has its old looking black and grey background showing that Mail was not (fully?) upgraded. Very frankly I dont care about the graphical upgrade as long as I can use my Mail programme.
Would anyone please help me to recover from this situation please? I do insist on the fact that all parameters of the email accounts are correct and were not changed at all. Thank you.

For those of you having email password issues, I'd suggest:
    1) Close your mail client (i.e. Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Outlook, etc).
    2) Launch "Applications" > "Utilities" > "Keychain Access.app"
    3) Select "login" from the sidebar top left area, then select "Passwords" in lower left area
    4) Click into the Search box in the upper right and search for your ISPs server names.  For example, type "aol" or "google" or "comcast", etc.
    5) Look through the search results for password entries related to your SMTP (outgoing) or IMAP/POP (incoming) mail servers.  Select them and delete them.
    6) Open your email client and try to receive mail, and then to send mail.  You should be prompted to enter your mail username and/or password.
Hopefully this might fix issues for those of you using mail clients that use Keychain for credential storage.

  • FaceTime Camera Not Working After Yosemite Upgrade

So After I upgraded to Yosemite yesterday, my FaceTime Camera stopped working.
Every time I turned on FaceTime or Photo Booth, the green light on the camera started to blink like crazy but nothing would show up on the screen. It was just black. And I tried different user too, not working.
I tried to reinstall Yosemite, no luck.
Tried to rest SMC and PRAM, no luck.
Tried safe boot, no camera in safe mode.
Tried repair disk permission, no luck.
Here is how it showed in system report, I thought it would be more details?
I am using MBP with Retina late 2013 model. I am 90% positive that the camera was working before this upgrade.
I don't know whether anyone else encounter the same problem and I am afraid it's something I installed that's causing the problem. In that case, even a clean install works fine, after I restore everything from Time Machine, the problem might just come back.
    Thanks!

You have done the right things.  With all you have tried, some third party item you have added is a very good guess as to what could be causing your trouble.  The biggest difficulty will be determining which installation caused the trouble.
I am certainly not experiencing your problem on any of my 10.10 Macs.
geoffreysong wrote: ... In that case, even a clean install works fine, after I restore everything from Time Machine, the problem might just come back...
Right again!  The way to prevent reinstalling the problem (and to prove your guess was correct) is to reinstall OS X using the OS X Yosemite: Erase and reinstall OS X instructions.
Next, before adding anything else, test your camera using the applicable suggestions from Apple's How to Troubleshoot iSight article.  (Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD."  Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)
      • If the camera works now, your suspicion is correct.  You can then add ONE needed app FROM ITS ORIGINAL SOURCE (not from any of your backups) and test the camera again.  If the camera fails, you have found the problem app.  If the camera works, continue adding apps one at a time, testing thoroughly between each addition.  After all your apps are added back, if your camera continues to work correctly, you can copy your data files back from your latest backup.
      • If the camera doesn't work immediately when nothing has been added to your fresh Mac OS X installation, you most likely have a hardware problem.  There are no user serviceable parts of the camera.  Contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

  • Quick launch buttons and touch functions not working post win7 upgrade

I have several problems that I think are related.
    1) When I rotate the screen and then bring it close (as in flat) to the keyboard, the screen goes blank. There is no key combination I can find that restores the screen. Putting it back in notebook orientation doesn't do anything either. Only thing to do is a hard reboot.
    2) the quick launch buttons on the screen edge are not functioning as follows:
    a) the hp mediasmart button (the one with the wave) doesn't work
    b) the screen rotation button produces the same problem as 1) above
    c) the third button which looks like either gears or a sun (I don't know what it should do) brings up the windows mobility center, where I have found problem number:
    3) On tablet PC settings, the display tab, there is one display: 1. mobile PC display
on the same tab, there is a setup button. The next screen says:
    pen input
    touch input
Regardless which one I select, on the following screen (where it says Press this screen with ....) when I press with either my finger or the pen, nothing happens. Which seems like either:
it thinks another screen is active or
the touch components are completely non functional.
    4) Not surprising, the touch functions are completely non-functional
I have installed all of the drivers for this TX2-1025dx for Win7(64bit) per the HP support/drivers page.
Not all of them resulted in a clean install.
Here are other drivers that I had problems with (meaning that I got an error message, it failed, it had to be done more than once, something else broke, etc.)
AMD AHCI  - started catalyst installer then failed
Authentic fingerprint driver - "dpinst64 not marked for installation"
Ntrig Duosense - had to do this one multiple times to get the fingerprint reader to work
HP Mediasmart MVP - hung in CMD
I have checked that all of the startup services are actually enabled in msconfig including quick launch buttons, hpwuschd, and media smart. Nothing is disabled in services.
I have reinstalled the quick launch buttons driver for this product from December 2009. (There is an earlier version from November.)
I installed the bios upgrade (before win7, actually) it is currently F.25
I have also eliminated EMF possibilities.
I have searched the forums, and while I have found some interesting clues, I don't see anything like this - at least with a solution.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as this thing is quite useless to me as it currently functions. It is not a tablet anymore.
    TIA

    [knock knock] Helloooooo??!!??
Installed 6.50.9.1, which is in between the last two quick launch button (QLB) drivers (that did not work). Also fixed the lightscribe and mediasmart DVD installs. Same problems, no touch or pen, and a new bug I discovered with qlb
First, if you search for tablet in the start menu, there is a selection to set the tablet buttons to perform certain tasks. When you run that, it says that teblet buttons are not installed on this pc. Doesn't matter if QLB is installed or not - same error. Hmmmmm. Check with your pc manufacturer..... I think I am doing that. I am starting to feel like I am working for HP.
Next finding: Using mobility center, I found that if you orient the screen to landscape for the slate config, and then rotate the screen, it does not go blank. However, if you rotate the screen back to notebook, it goes blank. And of course it keeps that upsidedown config when you reboot, too. So, the way to recover from that (because you really need a keyboard if you don't have a working pen and touch takes 30 sec to respond) is to keep trying to get touch to orient the screen back to landscape for notebook. Then rotate the screen to landscape for notebook. And uninstall the QLB driver that doesn't work and reboot. But after that, touch and pen did not function.
Since touch and pen had previously been restored when I uninstalled QLB, I reinstalled MVP and smartmenu coz they were the actions that I took the last time before touch and pen returned. Didn't work this time, tho.
I decided to do a system restore back at the point that I had used HP Advisor, since that was the last time I made note that pen and touch were working. Restore failed because a sfi.dat file was not found (and search didn't find it anywhere either). I tried 5 different restore points, before and after that one, and they all failed. But the first time around, I had touch on the logon screen, just not after windows started. The next time, I had touch but not pen. The next time, I had touch and pen, but only for a period of time (I think HP Advisor may have been the intervening event) before they stopped working.
Oh, and HP advisor does not appear to be actually installing the things on the action list. That could be an issue with Comodo, but it really looks more like an issue with that "mother may I" message from Windows asking for permission to run the program. Often as not, windows reports that the program is not responding. Closing the program with that dialog box actually gives it the kick in the knickers it needs to complete.
A not so great workaround is to use the mobility center to orient the screen when you want to put the thing in slate mode. You can pin it to the task bar (with a little fiddling).  Touch is extremely slow to respond in slate mode. For example, it took about 3 minutes to get the screen oriented back around to notebook config, which is 4 "clicks" if things are working right. Pen works sort of OK (although I haven't tried any writing) . Gestures for scrolling do not work.
I am done with the troubleshooting until someone comes up with other targeted ideas.I have been keeping detailed chrono notes.
Again, I hope the information here leads to a solution. This unit is not a functional tablet and I don't want to stay with Vista, neither should I have to since this is supposed to be compatible.

  • Spotlight and finder not working after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi,
    I just upgrade to 10.10.1 from 10.8 on a Mid 2012 Retina macbook pro, 2.7Ghz i7, 16GB RAM, 750GB SSD drive.
Since upgrading spotlight and finder have stopped working.  When I first upgraded I noticed it worked very briefly and found some of my applications, but now nothing.  The only thing it does is find the definition of the word I am searching for,
    I have
gone in to sys pref > spotlight added and remove all folders and rebooted the machine
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and ensured no folders are in that pane
gone in to sys pref > spotlight > privacy tab and added "documents folder" closed sys prefs rebooted and then removed "documents" folder to try and trigger a re index
gone to terminal and typed "sudo mdutil -E /" which should erase and rebuild the index but i get the error back "Error: Index is already changing state.  Please try again in a moment"
gone to terminal and typed "sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist" and then typed "sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist"
go to disk utility and verified my disk which comes back as showing no errors
logged in as another user but spotlight and finder still not working
Any other ideas my laptop is useless for work if I can't find anything,
    Thanks

unfortunately I this is still not working, thanks for the link Eric i tried those options, but still the problem remains.
I can clear the cache and re index my mac, and while the system is re indexing spotlight works and I can find material during the reindex.  This is obviously limited to the files that have been indexed at the point of using spotlight.
Once indexing has finished if I go to spotlight and try to search for anything, there are no results only the dictionary appears.
At the moment I have to delete the index cache every morning to trigger a re index so I can work, this is terrible and the worst upgrade experience I have had with any OS mac or windows

  • Thunderbolt Ethernet not working after Yosemite upgrade

Upgraded last night to 10.10, and now my Thunderbolt Ethernet adapter has no MAC address, and my MBP appears to think the cable is unplugged - it's not, and worked fine when the MBP was running 10.9 yesterday. Things which haven't worked:
Deleting and re-adding via Network Preferences
Changing default IPv6 to Link-local only
Rebooting with the thunderbolt adapter in
Rebooting with the thunderbolt adapter not in
Switching the thunderbolt adapter to the port further from the hinge and back again
Unplugging and replugging the ethernet cable
Plugging the ethernet cable directly into the wall jack instead of the hub it has always been plugged into
    Unplugging and replugging the Thunderbolt
Changing Location to "Work" from "Automatic" and back again

the link provide above leads to  http://plugable.com/2014/10/31/os-x-10-10-yosemite-ethernet-adapter-problems-we- can-help
...but these seem to be all 3rd party USB ethernet adapters and nothing to do with the Thunderbolt adapter of the thread - or am I missing something?
I have the same blooming problem, it seems to be totally hit and miss whether the adapter works or not.
I thought is was a faulty adapter, so even bought a second one for my MacBook Pro, so a bit more profit for the most profitable company in the world for a non working device.  My ethernet cable works fine to an old apple USB adapter but is 90% useless with Thunderbolt.
Renewing the DHCP lease occasionally works, but totally unreliable, at the moment it fails.
Still looking for a reliable solution.
Come on Apple, please sort this out, you have a connector policy of turning everything you can into adapters and dongles rather than building them in, so you end up with a slim laptop and a bag of adapters to carry around, and then when they don't  even work - doubly annoying.

  • Thunderbolt Network Adapter not working after yosemite upgrade

After I upgraded to Yosemite, my MBP Retina 13" doesn't see the link on thunderbolt network adapter. The wireless is totally unreliable and freeze every few min for 1-2 min which is long enough to disconnect any sessions. Turn off and on of wireless works and recovers but it's royal pain. Any suggestions?
I scheduled call with Apple 3 times today. They call me back at the scheduled time and immediately tell me that I missed their call even though I pickup on 1st ring. Been waiting in their support queue for more than 30 min now and no one is on line yet.

  • Thunderbolt-Bridge does not work after Yosemite upgrade

    Hi,
recently I upgraded my MacBook pro (late 2013) to OS X 10.10.
Now the thunderbolt - gigabit ethernet bridge is not recognised anymore.
More specific the "Network Preference" pan does say that it is disconnected -> no network connection.
At the same time the "System Information" window does say it is connected.
I already tried several reboots, a reboot in save mode and deleting the networks environments to start from scratch.
    But nothing helps.
Before the upgrade, the bridge worked fine (sometimes it was recognised slowly).
The bridge itself is a original apple bridge with firmware version 5.5 (PMFV 0.0.8).
    Any ideas?
    Cheers, freeman

  • Mail SMTP (outgoing) does not work after Yosemite upgrade

I have just updated Yosemite on my Mac and MacBook Air and the outgoing mails cannot be sent - the SMTP-connection fails.
It worked fully Ok few seconds before the upgrade was started.
So, I wonder if anyone or Apple can help on getting the Outgoing mails to work again.

  • Time Machine Not Working After Yosemite Upgrade

I upgraded my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite last week. Upgrade was flawless. However, when I plugged in my 4TB external hard drive for Time Machine Backups, which had always worked before, the computer spent over 90 minutes "Preparing Backup" and never actually backed up. I rebooted to no avail. Help!

My family upgraded to Yosemite on our 3 Macs four days ago: on an iMac, a MacBook Pro, and a MacBook Air, all three Macs from early 2014.
In Mavericks there was never any trouble with the Time Machine. But now on all three Macs, the TM doesn’t function properly.
    1) on entering TM, the Restore and the two Arrow buttons for selecting the date are dimmed out 90% of the time; nothing can be done, for example, clicking on the Finder folders or files and so on is impossible.
    2) sometimes, however, only the Restore button is dimmed out, or vice versa, only the two Arrow buttons.
    3) on two occasions, no buttons were dimmed out, but on the very first click, all the buttons were again dimmed out
    4) on the iMac and the Mac Book Pro, thank God, the backups still seem to be working; however, on the MacBook Air, a „preparing backup“ message just keeps on running and running.
The TM is a major feature of OS X that Apple pushes hard in its ads. Hopefully this means we’ll soon have an update. As a normal Mac user, I would find it difficult to apply any more exotic workaround solutions that some Mac experts might offer. My patience and ability to troubleshoot doesn’t go much beyond David Pogue’s latest OS X manual.
Anyway, a last more point: the previous TM was a thing of beauty, and I really enjoyed being sort of shot into space with the stars, like Dante on his way to the Empyrean; but now, on entering the TM in Yosemite, it looks like the Finder has fallen into an ugly pool of mud.
Thanks for any help or feedback you can offer.

  • 1 out of 3 monitors not working with Yosemite upgrade

I have a MacPro late 2013 3.5GHz 6-core running 3 monitors. A 23" Apple, 30" Apple and a 43" Sony running out on HDMI. Since upgrading to Yosemite I've lost the 30" monitor. Both the 23 & 30" are older monitors, non Thunderbolt, running through Apple connector. Everything worked in Maverick. Any fix or am I stuck waiting on Apple?

Exactly the same issue.  My Eizo Coloredge was working fine after installation until (just now) I dared to do a restart...
I have tried various different displays and connections over the past 20 minutes and have restarted my mac (late 2013 MBP 15' Retina) and connected / disconnected multiple times.  Neither my Coloredge via Thunderbolt or HDMI (no signal detected) is recognised, nor a Samsung LCD via HDMI.
SO frustrating that something this basic should now be 'broken' when it was fine under Mavericks (and earlier OS).  Come on Apple, let's get a fix.  Plenty of people rely on external monitors.
    Sigh.
