Citrix slow internally with proxy

Here is a head scratcher for ya. Following the upgrade of our NW 65sp7 with BM to 3.9 sp2 IR1 with TCP stack from SP8 Im having issues with the proxy. (What a surprise!) Here is the situation. I can connect no problem to my internal Citrix server on the 192.168.0.1 which points to my access.mycomp.com in the DNS, but the interface is very slow. I connect from outside to acces.mycomp.com and the speed is normal. Ha! Its the proxy I figure, so I disable the proxy on IE7 and it works normally. I replace the proxy on IE7 and put the IP 192.168.0.1 in the exceptions and its still slow. I add the name of the server access.mycomp.com in the exceptions and its normal again. So it needs both to bypass the proxy. In BM I have in proxy settings non cachable on Incorporate Online, Incorporation Services, LLC, Trademark | MyCorporation.com and https://mycorp.com but it seems to be choking on the proxy to translate from 443 to 8080. So far my workaround is to push both into the browser exceptions. Any other ideas?

Thanks for the response. I saw that, been there and bought the t-shirt. This is why I was running the TCPstack from SP8. I put the Proxy.nlm from IR1 because the proxy.nlm from SP2 was buggy for me. When I first ran it none of my websites came up, which is why I went to IR1 and then it worked fine. The TCP stack did resolve some issues for me with but I was reluctant to go backwards on the proxy.nlm. The one I'm using now is Version 5.13.02 December 15, 2009. I thought the newer one would be better.

  • Slow Mac with recurrent spinning ball of doom

    Please help,
My Mac has always been slow since I had it and migrated my PC content to my Mac.  I have run EtreCheck and hope that this might illuminate the cause of my issues, but worry that it may not.  ANYTHING I ask the Mac to do will be slow and inevitably cause a spinning ball for a while.  I have kept the system up to date.  I have a lot of photos in iPhoto but can't imagine this can be the cause?
Any help is much appreciated.  The Etrecheck output is below:
    Many thanks.

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off by the complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. As I wrote above, it changes nothing. It doesn't send or receive any data on the network. All it does is to generate a human-readable report on the state of the computer. That report goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. If you prefer, you can act on it yourself without disclosing the contents to me or anyone else.
You should be wondering whether you can believe me, and whether it's safe to run a program at the behest of a stranger. In general, no, it's not safe and I don't encourage it.
In this case, however, there are a couple of ways for you to decide whether the program is safe without having to trust me. First, you can read it. Unlike an application that you download and click to run, it's transparent, so anyone with the necessary skill can verify what it does.
You may not be able to understand the script yourself. But variations of it have been posted on this website thousands of times over a period of years. The site is hosted by Apple, which does not allow it to be used to distribute harmful software. Any one of the millions of registered users could have read the script and raised the alarm if it was harmful. Then I would not be here now and you would not be reading this message. See, for example, this discussion.
Nevertheless, if you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
    4. Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
    5. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    6. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    7. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    8. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    9. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    10. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return  three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    11. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be a series of messages in the Terminal window like this:
Part 1 of 8 done at … sec
Part 8 of 8 done at … sec
The messages won't be spaced equally apart in time, but they give a rough indication of progress. The total number of parts may be different from what's shown here.
    Wait for the final message
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the last message you saw. No harm will be done.
    12. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    13. When you post the results, you might see an error message on the web page: "You have included content in your post that is not permitted," or "You are not authorized to post." That's a bug in the forum software. Please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
    14. This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

  • Extremely slow performance with Radeon HD 7870

    Hi,
I am using a number of Adobe programs on my new Windows 8 64 bit system, with 16 gigs of ram, an Intel Core i5 2.67ghz, and AMD Radeon HD 7870 2 gig. All the programs (including After Effects and Illustrator) work very well with the exception of Photoshop CS6 64 bit, which has extremely slow performance with Use Graphics Processor enabled in my preferences (which Photoshop selects by default). If I turn off Use Graphics Processor, the slow performance vanishes. If I change Drawing Mode to Basic, there might be a slightly detectable improvement over Normal and Advanced, but it's still horribly slow. The refresh rate seems to be just a few frames per second. Everything is slow: brushes, zooming, panning, everything.
I've tried changing the settings I've seen suggested elsewhere: I switched Cache levels to 2, history states to 10, and tile size to 128k. No effect. Photoshop is currently at the default of using 60% of available ram. Efficiency has remained at 100% throughout all my tests. Also, this slow performance has affected me from the moment I installed Photoshop; it didn't crop up after previous good performance. The problem exists regardless of the size or number of documents I have open. Performance is still terrible even when I create a 500 x 500 pixel blank new canvas and try a simple task like drawing with the brush.
Photoshop is fully up to date, and so are my graphics drivers (Catalyst version 13.1). Any help would be greatly appreciated; at the moment performance is so bad in Photoshop that it's unusable with graphics acceleration enabled. Thanks in advance for replying.

    Great news!
I followed your suggestion, Noel, and uninstalled my drivers with the Catalyst Uninstall Utility (which I hadn't used before), rebooted, reinstalled Catalyst 13.2 Beta 7, rebooted, deleted the PS Prefs, started PS, and now the performance is radically improved!
It baffles me why I would need to do a clean driver uninstall in a new system environment that has only ever had this video card, and is only a few months old, but that action seems to be what's improved the situation. Note that because I deleted the PS preferences, the good performance now occurs with the default Use Graphics Processor enabled, and Drawing Mode set to Advanced (with every feature in the Advanced dialog checked except 30bit display).
Having no reference point, I can't tell for sure if performance is as good as it theoretically ought to be for my system specs, but using the standard 13px brush is only slightly laggy behind the cursor, even if I become reckless and squiggle on the canvas violently. It wasn't just sluggish response before: Photoshop seemed to be in pain trying to draw the line segments as it laboured to catch up to the cursor. That is pretty much gone now.
Much more tellingly, zooming and panning the canvas is like it ought to be, responsive and clean, more or less like it was for me in CS4 with my old Nvidia 9600GT. The poor performance with zooming and panning was the most worrying aspect of the issue. It's a great relief to see these working more properly now.
I have to confess I'm a little embarrassed to have drug you through all this hassle only to discover that something as rudimentary as properly cleaning out the drivers would be the apparent solution. I never would have imagined that doing that, with such a new and stable system, would make any difference, since I don't have a legacy of older drivers dotting my hard drive. In any event, I'm really grateful that you guys took the time to try to help me.
In the interest of completeness, here's the relevant portion of my system info after doing the reinstall steps I mentioned above:

As you can see, the Microsoft Basic Render Driver still appears as a Video Card in the list. This presumably has something to do with Windows 8, and I really don't know if its presence here is still a sign that my card is not being used to its optimal capability. I have a hunch that the slight lag that I am still experiencing with the brush when Use Graphics Processor is on -- totally absent with the acceleration turned off -- implies that Photoshop is still unable to take maximum advantage of my card. I would assume that the brush tool should be more responsive with acceleration on than off, in a rig without any issues, but that's just assumption on my part. If you turn off Use Graphics Processor on your systems, is the brush tool more or less responsive?
But again, panning the canvas with the hand tool is now extremely responsive, without any screen tearing or visible lag, and that's a massive improvement over the total meltdown of performance I was suffering from before.
Thanks again very much for your help. I'm grateful to all of you who took the time to chime in.

  • What are the downsides to working with Proxy Media?

My iMac is one of the more powerful ones:  i7, 2 internal drives (the main one is a 256 GB flash drive), ATI Radeon HD 5750 w/1 GB VRAM, 16 GB RAM.  But I notice that when I'm trying to apply multiple effects to a compound clip and then use crop to zoom on it, it starts dropping frames all over the place and barely plowing through.
I'm wondering if I should edit with proxy media.  I know one disadvantage is the amount of space it takes to have both proxy and regular media, but I have plenty of disk space.  I edit AVCHD footage that I optimize upon import.
I will also be doing a lot of multicam editing.
So I'm thinking proxy media is the way to go.  But I have to wonder what the disadvantages to using proxy media are.  For instance, since you're editing with a lower-quality version of the video, does that mean that when you do things like color correction you aren't getting a good a final result when you switch back to the regular media?
    I'd appreciate any advice/tips.

    JDLee wrote:
....  you aren't getting a good a final result when you switch back to the regular media?
no, the color correction is done with the 'HDef' material.
proxies is just a pre-view thing; esp. when doing multicam, the amount of data shoveling from/to harddrive is enormously ... theoretically, even a fw800 connected super-fast Raid can handle only a max. of 10 HDef streams ...
I'm on consumer/hobbyist level - handling here 4 streams from usb-drives - as proxies, no problem.
when editing is done, you switch back to original/optimized and export in  shiny 100% ...

  • Editing with proxy media

Does editing with proxy media files affect the video quality once its time to export project?
I shoot 1080P HD video, import both optimized and proxy media files. When its time to export the project or share to yutube the video comes out grainy and dull. I color correct during the edit process. I don't use compressor because I don't create dvd's.
This is a bit frustrating. Any comments or suggestions?

    John Lyons wrote:
Even if I checked optimize and proxy video at the same time?
Do I lose the color corrections I did when I go back to optimized?
You don't lose anything. Edit in proxy mode, then before exporting go to preferences->playback and select Original/Optimized media. FCP X will keep all your edits, but will then use the high quality media so that you export your work in full glory.
If you choose this workflow, you really do not need to create optimized media.
I don't see any point in creating both proxy and optimized versions of your media. Either edit in proxy (if your mac or drive is relatively slow, or if you use multicam with several angles) - and then you don't need optimized - or edit in optimized and you don't need proxy.

  • Communication problem with proxy server

We have establish the configuration of an iPad to access the enterprise net, but when trying to access any webpage we get the next message: Safari can not open the page. Error:"There is a communication problem with proxy web server (HTTP)"
The access has no problems with other movile devices.
    Ahy help?

    Hi,
I am not sure whether you have already solved the problem or not....
Do the following to deploy MobileBIService.war file on tomcat
    1.Stop Tomcat Web application server.
2.Copy the file, MobileBIService.war from [Install directory]\Mobile 14\Client to the Tomcat's "Webapps" directory.
    In my case, I copied the MobileBIService.war from C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Mobile14\Client to C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\Tomcat6\webapps. ( I used BO 4.0 SP02)
    3.     Start Tomcat.
Restarting Tomcat would automatically deploy war file as a Web App
One folder u201CMobileBiServiceu201D will appear in webapps folder when MobileBIService.war is deployed successfully.
    Hope it helps.

  • Slow Performance with Business Rules

    Hello,
Has anyone ever had slow performance with business rules? For example, I attached a calc script to a form and it ran for 20 seconds. I made an exact replica of the calc script in a business rules and it took 30 seconds to run. Also, when creating / modifying business rules in EAS it takes a long time to open or save or attach security - any ideas on things to improve this performance?
    Thanks!

If you are having issues with performance of assigning access then I am sure there was patch available, it was either a HSS patch or planning patch.
    Cheers

  • Mac mini slow speed - with pauses

My Mac Mini crashed and I had to reinstall.
Now it runs partly very slow, even with pauses, where I have to wait for responses.
    Start-up takes long minutes.
System profiling tools says HD activity reaches a max of 8MB/s.
CPU workload looks far below 100%.
Is there any experience with this?
How can I check and find out more precise the reason for slowing down?

As per the reply to your other post with the same question:
This is not something to worry about or be concerned with. Firstly, the paging counts will depend on how long the system has been running since the last boot, but MacOS is designed to actively page out and in, so in itself, the fact your system shows it is doing so means nothing at all.
If your computer is exhibiting some indication of a problem, I suggest you start a new thread here and describe what you are experiencing. That way we can help you directly with the specifics of your problem. On the other hand, if you have just seen the comments regarding paging and system performance and have checked your own Mac to see what it's doing - the answer is that in the absence of an indication of a problem, it's very likely doing exactly what it ought to be doing!

  • SUN .... When....  JRE 1.4.0 international with auto update

SUN .... When.... JRE 1.4.0 international with auto update
    When will you deliver .........
We have a dead line and our product needs the international version 1.4 to be updated on our exsiting user base, one of our customers has over 700 workstations.
If the solution is to manually dowload and install this version then Web Start totally fails as a web centric solution.
I see that creating our own servlet breaches SUN's license agreement, so give us a developer servlet we can use.

The auto download servlet supports both international and us-only versions of Java 1.4.0.
Java Web Start includes the current locale in the request to the servlet, and it returns the
US only version if the locale is en_US , or the international version otherwise.
Curently there is no way to get the servlet to download the international version when the
clients locale is en_US.Sorry but havent you just anwsered the question I put, either the servlet supports international clients or it dosent and your anwser just puts more wood on the fire, it dosent, but it could.
Also we recognize that there is a problem when an application needs the international version, and >>the client already has the US version installed. In this case Java Web Start will not attempt
to contact the servlet since it thinks it has an appropriate version allready. Also if you client requires an international version of the JRE it is because it requires that version period, hence if the version tag within the JNLP file specifies JRE1.4 international, then it dosent matter what Web Start may or may not think, the JNLP file written for the application by the author should determine its fate.
The only reason Web Start should determine locale on a target machine would be the text displayed for the dialog interface between the end user.
Its a simple case of checking do I have 1.4 international, "Yes or No", at this point I dont care if 1.4 English is installed, or locale is English, JNLP file asked Web Start, if 1.4 international was installed, "No", Ok then call servlet and request 1.4 international. Simple....
The JRE license agreement allows customers to repackage and redistribute the JRE.
Many customers are redistributing a JRE with their app. Im sure many are, please read my previous post , if you can get sun to offically confirm this, then I stand corrected.

  • Administration of APEX in SQL Developer with Proxy Authentication impossibl

    Hello!
We are using latest version of SQL Developer to administer APEX. We are connecting to the database with proxy authentication. The syntax is:
    personal_user[apex_ws_owner]
    e.g.: mdecker[apex_demo]
When trying to deploy APEX application I go to "Database Object" -> Application Express -> Application1 [100] -> right mouse click: "Deploy Application". Then I select the appropriate database identifier and next, I am presented with a screen showing import options. In second line, it says: "Parsing Schema: MDECKER".
This is wrong: it has to be Parsing Schema: APEX_DEMO. It seems that managing APEX with SQL Developer does not support Proxy Authentication.
    Could you please confirm?
Is there a way to formally ask for this enhancement?
    Best regards,
    Martin
    Update:
I found out that if I check the flag "Proxy Authentication" in the connect details and provide both passwords, the deploy application parsing schema is set to the correct APEX_DEMO account. However, we are using Proxy Authentication in order to avoid having to know the application password.
Edited by: mdecker on Jan 28, 2013 4:48 PM

There is a write-up about connecting to APEX here: <a href ="http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/sql_dev_integration.html" >SQL Dev Oracle APEX Integration</a>
<p>You do need to have updated to Oracle APEX 3.0.1.

  • JAX-WS client - WebLogic - SSL with proxy server

    Good night!
I'm having trouble communicating with webservices using certificate authentication (weblogic.wsee.jaxws.sslclient.PersistentSSLInfo) through and going through a proxy server (weblogic.wsee.jaxws.proxy.ClientProxyFeature) .
If communication with the webservice is done directly (no proxy server) everything happens perfectly, but to set the proxy server I get the exception "BAD_CERTIFICATE." it is as if the certificate was not attached in the request.
The webservice client was generated by JDeveloper.
    Has anyone experienced this problem?
    Sorry for my bad english

App-V:  A Configuration Template for Deploying to Stateless RDS Clients on Citrix Published Desktops with Citrix UPM for Profile Management
Just posted this to the wiki:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/25318.app-v-a-configuration-template-for-deploying-to-stateless-rds-clients-on-citrix-published-desktops-with-citrix-upm-for-profile-management.aspx

I would not recommend this and keep the package cache and the client on the same non-persistent drive and enable the Shared Content Store. If you separate the cache and the App-V client they could get out of sync and strange behaviour can occur.
You can use a temporary local profile with Citrix UPM or UE-V and specify what to roam/save.
You can use the Shared Content Store so packages will stream over the network. When the user logs on there is a publishing phase where shortcuts etc are created for the user, this will take some time.
Are you using the App-V full infrastructure?
Are you using a boot disk, partition or PXE in combination with PVS?

  • Strange behaviour when using connection pooling with proxy authentication

    All
I have developed an ASP.NET 1.1 Web application that uses ODP.NET 9.2.0.4 accessing Oracle Database 8i (which is to be upgraded to 10g in the coming months). I have enabled connection pooling and implemented proxy authentication.
I am observing a strange behaviour in the live environment. If two users (User 1 and User 2) are executing SQL statements at the same time (concurrent threads in IIS), the following is occurring:
    * User 1 opens a new connection, executes a SELECT statement, and closes this connection. The audit log, which uses the USER function, shows User 1 executed this statement.
    * User 2 opens the same connection (before it is released to the connection pool?), excutes an INSERT statement, and closes this connection. The audit log shows User 1, not User 2, executed this statement.
Is this a known issue when using connection pooling with proxy authentication? I appreciate your help.
    Regards,
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
I tried to reproduce your complaint, but was unable to. I didnt use auditting however, just a series of "select user from dual" with proxy authentication. You might want to see if you can put together a small complete testcase for this and open a sr with support.
    Cheers

  • SRT Framework exception: The WSDL document is not compatible with proxy

    hello,
I'd like to create a logical port to my web service but when I create this type of error:
SRT Framework exception: The WSDL document is not compatible with proxy class "YAIRPORT_CO_AIRPORT_SOAP": "Unsupported Operation (s): getAirportInformationByISOCountryCode, getAirportInformationByAirportCode, getAirportInforma
    someone has an idea?
    thank you

    Hi,
Most probably your class YAIRPORT_CO_AIRPORT_SOAP was't automatically generated by SAP from the .wsdl file. If so, then you have to generate it from this file and then create the logical port. For this purpose, go to se80, display the function group there you want to add the class, right-click it and choose Create -> Web Service. Then on the following screens choose Service Consumer, Local File and specify the .wsdl file for the web service you want to use. Finally specify a Package, Prefix and Transport Request, activate the changes and you're done. Now you can create the Logical Port.
    Hope this helps,
    Greg

  • Slow performance with macbook pro retina

Saving an image (JPEG) with my lightning fast new macbook pro 2012 retina edition takes 30-60 seconds.  Any ideas why?  Mountain lion Mac OS, 8GB RAM.  Can't upgrade RAM but shouldn't have to!  I moved images to external hard drive since I was filling up memory on laptop quickly.  I would appreciate ideas from anyone who knows Elements and Mac .  Thanks.

This is my only computer now. Will check into auto analyzer (never heard of it). This is Elements 11, not the whole photoshop.  It is the regular, not app version.  I did move some of the photos from a past pc to it, but it seems to have the same slow speed with new photos as well.  I installed Elements 11 on my mac with a disc.  When I bought it, it came with both pc and mac discs.  A guy at the apple store had me move all the photos onto my external hard drive.  Its a new Apple 3 TB external hard drive.  I actually tried to increase the RAM at the suggestion of my camera club friends who had similar problem and got relief with increasing RAM of 4 up to 12 or 16.  Mine is 8 and can't be increased.
