Civil 3D 2011 Drawing file layers are off but show up in preview and final PDF
I am using a Windows 7 64-bit, Acrobat 10.1, Autocad Civil 3D 2011
In a site plan drawing we are trying to create PDF's of files that have xref's attached. The title block (an xref) is in paper space and the site plan xref is in model space.
When turn off certain layers from the site plan as viewed from paper space to remove clutter and then go to make a PDF. After getting it set up to print, and going to the preview the layers we have turned off appear in the preview and if we go ahead and make the PDF those layers turned off will show up.
We have made sure "Visretain=1" but the layers still show up. If we open the xref by itself and turn off the same layers and go through the PDF process they do NOT show up in the preview or the final PDF.
I have installed Acrobat 10.1 but that did not fix the problem either.
Any suggestion is appreciated!

Not yet - Acrobat X is the current version, and support for PDFMaker plugins is usually only updated in major releases, especially where the integration is complex (as it is with ACAD).
An x64 operating system isn't a problem, but x64 applications are - Acrobat is a 32-bit program and I expect it will remain so for several more years, so plugging it into the internals of 64-bit primary applications is a horrible job for the engineering team.

You can, but how are you going to back up those other files? When (not if) your Time Capsule fails, you risk losing them. See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for details.

Not sure what you mean. You have to connect a computer, either via Ethernet cable or wirelessly, to read or write to the disk. -
I'm trying to export a file as .dwg for Autocad but it's not showing the dwg preview and it appears to be saving as code (lots of gobbledegook when reopening the file). I'm on OS 10.5.8. Never had a problem with this before. What am I missing? Any ideas?
First be sure login and password are OK. Sometimes the address starts wit "http://..." and sometime starts with "ftp://...". Try both normal FTP access and Scure FTP access (SFTP). At the end, contact the site's provider.

When I open iTunes, it will not allow me to preview or download TV shows. The preview and download options are gray and will not let me view them. I have tried installing the latest Quicktime but it tells me that I have to do software update and when I do, Quicktime does not appear to need an update. I have no idea what to do
Click on your preference and check the Parental tab for possible restrictions. Open iTunes, then click the iTunes menu, select preferences after the window opens click on the Parental icon, take a look at the content restrictions section.

Ok let me elaborate this problem little more.
I want to show my text box as it is in normal editors e.g. In Matlab editor. There is a text box and on left side the gray bar shows the line numbers corresponding to the text. Further more i want that the user should be able to click on any line number to mark specific line as breakpoint (red circle or any graphical indication for mark).

When exporting to Jpeg file, Ai file layers are missing.
Hi to all. I hope you can help me out. I have an AI file that i'm trying to export as JPEG because the PDF file is 26 mb and my clients want to have at least 3 mb file size. When i do the normal export to JPeg trick, I noticed that a lot of colors are missing, it turns out that not all the layers are included in the jpeg image. I tried going to attributes and deselected the printoverview but i'm still getting the same result. thanks!

Obviously, everything that shows within the Artboard/Crop Area should be exported. So unless the layers are hidden, something is quite strange.
I do not know whether it may be a preference corruption.
When something stop working, it may be a preference corruption. In order to restore the preferences, you may either Ctrl/Cmd+Alt/Option at startup, or Move the folder with Illy closed. The latter is reversible and takes care or more issues, but requires a greater effort, especially the first time used. See explanations in the latter
Reinstalling does not replace the preferences. -
Have updated software to latest version, ensured all restrictions are off, can only find guides and cheats in App Store but not the actual game. Have tried to download from internet but get redirected back to App Store where blank page appears and nothing comes up....
I also encountered this problem. I'm afraid I didn't meticulously document my work, but here are the step I took that might be relevant. I downgraded to IE9 and then down to IE8. I tried the
BypassSSLNoCacheCheck and BypassHTTPNoCacheCheck settings in the registry, which didn't work for me. I tried moving the location of the temporary internet files folder by modifying it directly in the registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell
This didn't work either. While I could see that I had the invisible content.ie5 folder in there, plus the randomly named folders, there was nothing cached in those folders. Cacls.exe showed
that the user had full control, and I could past files into those folders. This seemed to rule out a problem with permissions on the temp ie files folder.
The big clue for me was this thread when someone said that it worked for the administrator account, but not others. While logged in as the affected user, I tried deleting:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer (the entire folder, with all its subkeys)
and also: HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings (again, the entire folder, along with all its subkeys).
I tried running IE again, and downloads work again! In the internet control panel, I now see a path listed for the temporary files folder (the path I specified), and the cache is set to 50MB
now instead of being stuck at 0. I haven't tried updating back to IE9 yet.
I suspect that changing the location of the temporary IE files folder was unessecary, and that all that I really needed to do was delete the two regkey folders. IE10 may be adding some setting
there that gets left after uninstalling it that causes IE9 and IE8 to choke. Hopefully this will save someone the trouble of rebuilding profiles. -
File share is off but still accessible by guest
I have turned file sharing off, but the Guest account is still able to access my main account. I am on OS 10.8.5. File sharing is unchecked in Sharing Prefs, and the only areas on Sharing are Public folders (but those shouldn't be shared since sharing is off in general, correct?). However, Guest can see Desktop, Documents, Music, etc.
You could change the permissions on your home folder to NOT allow guest. BUT BE VERY CAREFUL WITH PERMISSION CHANGES! I have seen people use the "Apple to Enclosed Items..." destroy their Mac, forcing either a restore from backup or a fresh install from scratch, so do not get too paranoid, or you may succeed in keeping yourself away from your data as well.
Or do not allow Guests to login to your Mac. -
Layers turned off: any effect on render/preview times? large comp, need tips
I'm working with a very large resolution project, and looking for any tips related to speeding up preview/render times.
One question I have, are layers turned off still considered in the AE preview/render calculations in any way?

MLThe best way to work with such large stuff is to tile it up in pre-comps and then stitch it back together e.g. using parenting. that way areas completely outside the comp frame will not cause any rendering at all. If that's not possible because e.g. you get antialiasing issues at the seams, then it may help to temporally slice up your comp into segments by duplicating it as often as needed and then removing the parts from it that won't be visible in that segment. You can then reassemble the segments in a parent comp. This in particular helps with 3D comps and 2D comps with a lot of motion where e.g. motion blur calculations can considerably increase render times. It also helps with comps where you use certain third party effects like Particular, since they may still do their calculations even if stuff is not on screen.

When I duplicate a comp in AE CS6 and open it up up none of the layers are visible yet the preview shows me they should be there.

thanks JoeThere were a couple of weird things that I saw. First, when you double clicked the duplicate the Timeline didn't echo the name. When you went back, it did. I suspect that you're having graphics drivers issues. I'd close all your comp windows and then open them up again. I'd also re-boot and empty caches.
It would help us if we knew what kind of system you were running and if your AE is up to date? -
All PDF's I try to save will save but nobody can open them. Message is it cannot be opened by reader it is the wrong file type or has been damaged.
Tried to open with Preview and the message says it is empty, also empty if you try to sea as a PDF in the print option!Hi Michelle in MD,

Write to text file; not overwriting old, but moving to next entry and writing
I am interested in writing a series of filenames, to a text file, so I can keep track of sample ID and experiment #'s. I would like each new filename to be writtten following the previous filename, rather than always overwriting. I've done a brief check of some of the properties, and couldn't find anything. Any ideas? thanks

Just to clarify, are you looking to append text to an existing file without over-writing existing text, or are you looking to create a series of text files with unique names? If you want to append text to an existing file, then Andrey's solution above should be what you need. If you want to programmatically determine a unique name for the text files, then you can use a similar means to deterine a unique name (Andrey used the iteration terminal above so that each iteration of the while loop produces a unique text to be inserted into the text file). You mentioned the use of sample ID and experiment number, which you could also use as a file name if you wish to, and even have the user of the VI enter the information that makes up the filename through front panel controls. The string functions (in the Functions Palette under Programming » String) will be of great use here. Of course, if you are just looking for an “out-of-the-box” solution, there is always the Write to Measurement File Express VI (Programming » File I/O), but this is best suited for situations where you have channels of data that you would like to store, so this may not fit depending on the data you wish to store. If it does fit, however, there are settings that you can configure for saving to a series of files:

My ipod touch 3rd generation shut off when the battery died. When i tried to charge it but it would not charge and it wasn't recognized by my laptop. Report RKANBU01 resets commitments on orders and ranges of orders.
(please see the note 152571).
Reports ZKAOIDE0 & ZKAOIDE1 removes commitments which refer to purchase orders and purchase requistions which do not exist.
(See Notes 100409 & 152571).
Report RKACOR04 corrects mistakes between total and line items in database tables.
(See notes 21649 & 152571).
