CIVS-IPC-3530 Failures

In the past couple months, I have had 15 of 149 CIVS-IPC-IPC-3530 cameras fail.  I've also had numerous cameras (some of which required replacing) become unreachable, requiring me to replace the camera configuration through the VSOM interface.
I am running v7.5.0 (not co-located), with 5 Media Servers.  The camera firmware version is 1.4.1-97.
The installation is in Northern New Jersey. It is cold, but well within specifications (-22F - 122F).
Has anyone experienced similar issues?

Hi StephanMC,
We haven't had much trouble with the Cisco cameras in the past, and we've actually been pretty pleased with the indoor versions of their newer models (we've got several dozen 6020 and 3520 cameras installed).  This seems to be an issue specifically related to cold weather operation.  As a note, if you are installing all of those 3530's inside, in a heated area, you could probably just go with the 3520 cameras with the vandal resistant conduit base and dome.  It's pretty much the same camera, but not intended for outdoor use, and would cost a fair bit less.
Cheers!

    Following are the various options available to view live streaming from IP camera:
    Cisco Camera UI Control (ActiveX): Preferred method for viewing live streaming on Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    To install the Cisco Camera UI Control, you must have Administration rights on this computer and you must allow installation when asked.
    Run Microsoft Internet Explorer as Administrator. To do that right click on Internet Explorer icon and select Run as administrator.
    Click on the yellow banner to begin the installation. If the banner is not visible, turn off pop-up blockers from the Tools menu in Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    For all browsers (Chrome / Firefox / Safari) other than Microsoft Internet Explorer, use below options :
    QuickTime: For use with H.264.
    VLC: For use with H.264 / MJPEG.
    If you are still having problem installing ActiveX, please click on the following link to download the .cab file. After downloading the .cab file, unzip it, to extract the installer .msi file. You can install the ActiveX by executing the .msi file CameraUIControlV2.cab
    I have tried this downloading of .msi file n extracting and running it but nothing happens.

  • Problem viewing video on CIVS-IPC-3520

    We just purchase a few CIVS-IPC-3520, indoor HD cameras, and can not see the video on the web interface to adjust the cameras.
    I first tried with a Windows 7, IE8 laptop, and it will not load the needed activeX files to view the camera.  I then tried a very old laptop with Windows XP and IE8 and it did work.  I have even upgraded the firmware to the latest (V1.4.1-97), which will not work with our current version of VSOM, 6.3.3, and it still does not allow us to view the video.
    Does anyone know of any tricks to get these cameras to show video on the web interface to adjust the camers at installation?  I just dont think that I should have to use 10 year old tech to install something that is brand new.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Doug

    Okay, so I had the same problem when we receivied the 3520's on campus in December.  I was able to download the program from the camera utility folder and install the program successfully when running it from the desktop.  I was then able to view video on a camera I was staging in my office.  Fast forward to Friday when I was actually installing the cameras and now I cannot view video again from the PCs that I was previously viewing video.  When bringing up the camera video feed, I get a message that says the Camera UI is not installed.  However, I can open the programs list and see that it is still installed.  Tried uninstalling it, rebooting and re-installing without success.  The install program starts gathering information and then it goes off into la la land.  Running this on Win 7 Enteprise Edition and IE 9 and IE 10.

  • CIVS-IPC-2930 Web Interface Inaccessible

    We have a Cisco CIVS-IPC-2930 PTZ camera and the web interface is inaccessible.  Navigating to the page returns an error "500 - Internal Server Error".   Our VSM is still able to pull the feed from the camera, and I can access it via SSH, just not through the web interface.  Looking at the error log for lighttpd shows the following errors repeatedly:
    2014-04-07 16:38:51: (mod_fastcgi.c.2481) unexpected end-of-file (perhaps the fastcgi process died): pid: 1464 socket: unix:/tmp/php.socket-1
    2014-04-07 16:38:51: (mod_fastcgi.c.3299) response not received, request sent: 1333 on socket: unix:/tmp/php.socket-1 for /index.php , closing connection
    Have tried restarting the lighttpd processes and reloading the camera, but the issue persists.
    Anyone seen similar issues?  Ideas to resolve?
    Thanks

    Hi Scott,
    Yes, I used scp to copy the file over from the functional camera.  It was fairly straightforward to resolve once I suspected the file was corrupted.

  • Turn off information text after CIVS-IPC-2935 restart

    After CIVS-IPC-2935 is restarted, on picture I see information about model, version, configure done, and sw1 and sw2. How I may disconnect this?
    May be problem in not configured sw1 and sw2 ?

    I finally figured it out. Just in case anyone else has the bad luck to do what I did, here's what it was:
    I'm not quite sure what caused Universal Access to come up by mistake the first time (weirdness #4 in the previous post), but at any rate it seems that while clicking some setting or another in Speech, and perhaps clicking too slowly, the click was intercepted by Universal Access instead. All the features I mentioned were settings in Universal Access. So by going into Universal Access intentionally, I was able to restore all the settings back to normal -- all except #4, anyway, which, if it happens again, at least I'll know what to watch out for.

  • Direct login into a CIVS-IPC-2500: username & password required

    Hi,
    I'm integrating a couple of CIVS-IPC-2500 in a domotics project.
    So far, I've setup the cams, I'm able to see a picture with a browser and http://<ip>/img/video.mjpeg.
    I'm unable to get the picture in the domotics supervisor. I realize now that when I use the http://<ip>/img/video.mjpeg syntax on a new PC, I get a pop-up asking for username & password. On my "work" PC, this syntax works because I've already done a logon, so username & password are cached.
    Is it possible to login directly into the cam without supplying any username & password ?
    I've reset the cam to factory defaults and done the setup again, trying blank password, but it's not allowed
    Any hint ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the quick reply.
    Indeed, security isn't a concern, so I thought about the trick to embed the username & password.
    The problem: the domotic supervisor doesn't allow me to do that.
    I'm stuck

  • CIVS-IPC-2500W not responding

    I have a CIVS-IPC-2500W that is not allowing me to open the admin page.  I can ping it and it is ever giving off CDP to my switch but I can't access it.  Whenever I go to the camera's IP from a web browser I get "404 - Not Found".

    Hi Scott,
    Yes, I used scp to copy the file over from the functional camera.  It was fairly straightforward to resolve once I suspected the file was corrupted.

  • Difference between CIVS-IPC-VT38 and CIVS-IPC-VF31

    Hi Expert,
    1, May I know difference between CIVS-IPC-VT38 and  Cisco IP Camera Fujinon 3-8 mm  Varifocal Lens CIVS-IPC-VF31?
    2, Do I need a lenses for Cisco CIVS-IPC-2611   Dome camera, if it is what the part number?
    Thanks

    I'm just going by memory here, but I believe the VT38 part is made by Tamron, and the VF31 part is made by Fujinon.
    Personally, I prefer the Tamron parts if I have the option, but you may want to review the detailed spec sheets from each manufacturer.
    Also, the 2600 series domes have their *own* non-swapable optics made by "Computar".  I can't remember the varifocal range off the top of my head right now, but it would be in the datasheets from Cisco for sure.
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers!

  • Ghosting on image from CIVS-IPC-2621V

    I have a camera (which is naturally in a ridiculously hard to reach spot) that has developed some..."fuzziness" or maybe it would be ghosting on the edge of images. I have never dealt with this before and didn't know if there was any kind of troubleshooting I could do or if it was simply a replacement issue.  I've restarted but haven't really messed with any settings because it had been working fine prior to us noticing this.  I made a gif of itto show what it is doing but I'm not sure if that will show up here or not.  I'll give it a try.

    Looks real familiar. With 25xx and 26xx that is the symptom of the imager wearing out. Keep watching it over the coming days and it will continue to get more and more phsycadelic, and eventually it goes black. I managed to "fix" one by doing a "factory" in the web browser. But it only worked on that one. Every other time I have seen this the only solution was to RMA it if it is still under contract.

  • Cisco camera and SB monitoring software compatibility

    Hi all,
    We are currently looking into Dome Day/Night Outdoor security cameras and the small business ones may not fit our needs.  I have done some research and found CIVS-IPC-2630V.
    Would this camera be compatible with the small business monitoring software SWVMS16?
    Thank you.

    Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center.
    Unfortunately none of the Enterprise Camera's are compatible with the Small Business Video Monitoring Software.
    If using the Basic version, only Cisco Small Business Cameras are recognized. (WVC210, WVC/PVC2300, PVC300, VC220 and VC240) There are some new cameras in development, but there is no timeframe for availability yet.
    If you have any other questions, please let us know.

    Thanks for the promptly reply.
    In fact I'm not using an utility (Macaroni, Onyx, etc) when the problem happened.
    _The Mac OS X 10.5.6 freeze when a massive data access is made into the NAS_ - in this case I'm trying to use the Time Machine (without Time Capsule), and this same problem comes when I'm working on a document/sheet stored into the NAS.
    Note: The Airport also stuck not allowing to turn on/off. Futhermore the access by cable was already tested and the problem continue.
    I suppose that the problem is on the wireless device (or even in the Airport), or in the NAS device, or in the access to the NAS by using the SMB.
    I've read some posts about the SMB no work quite well to share/access a NAS. Is it true?!
    To help the analysis follow below some technical details:
    - Wireless Device: Linksys - WRT54G [firmware updated]
    - NAS/External Hard Drive: Iomega - Home Network HD [firmware updated]

    The above link is to lenses for the PVC2300 under the "Cisco Small Business Video Surveillance Lenses" category, but when we try to buy one of these lenses, it shows a locked SKU only available to "Physical Surveillance ATP" Cisco partners.
    Any Cisco employee out there no why a select partner cannot buy a Cisco part number SKU for a PVC2300? Example SKU = CIVS-IPC-VT38, Disti is IM
    Thanks in advance.

    Davin,
    Has this been completed yet or at least in the works. We are still locked from the SKU at both TD and IM. We are SMB Select. I spoke with my IM rep, and he claims they are still locked SKUs.
    Please let us know when this issue is corrected or at least another method to purchases compatible lenses for the PVC2300.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Streaming ip cams into VLC

    Does anyone know of any information anywhere's about streaming video from the new IP cams, specifically the CIVS-IPC-4500 HD cams, into VLC?
    Any help much appreciated.

    Howdy,
    I have tried to the your suggested steps and am unable to play the video streams using VLC 1.0.1 for Ubuntu Linux or Windows XP.
    I am certain that I was able to get the correct session-id. I used your method of finding it manually in the URL, and in addition to that I wrote a Python script to find it for me.
    Python script (needs lxml library) : http://pastebin.com/f12201bfd
    The Python script also allowed me to grab the config XML for my cam which can be found at: http://pastebin.com/f7a8901ed
    I ran vlc with this command:
    vlc "rtsp://192.168.5.146/StreamingSetting?version=1.0&action=getRTSPStream&sessionID=62687518&ChannelID=1&ChannelName=Channel1" > /tmp/vlc-error 2>&1
    the resulting output can be found at : http://pastebin.com/f2b1cef2e
    *important note. the original error log contained thousands of the following string
    "number of reference frames exceeds max (probably corrupt input), discarding one"
    starting like
    "VLC media player 1.0.1 Goldeneye

    insane cropping not completely supported, this could look slightly wrong ...

    I have trimmed them out show the more salient parts of the log.
    Could you please offer advice.

  • IPC Between Two ADF Portlets on Same Page using Events Failure

    Considering that a full page submit is required for the passing of parameters to work properly, I am trying to use IPC Events to pass a parameter from one ADF Portlet to another. There are no good examples out there, but I am trying to use what is out there in many different generic forms to make this happen with no success.
    One portlet contains an ADF Table with a select column, I have a BackingBean to process the choosing of a row and that value is being retrieved and I am calling the set event.
    public void selectPatient(ActionEvent e) {
    FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding node = (FacesCtrlHierNodeBinding) tblPatients.getSelectedRowData();
    String username = node.getAttribute(0).toString();
    System.out.println("Selected Patient: " + username);
    ActionResponse response = (ActionResponse)FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse();
    response.setEvent("selectPatientResult", username);
    I then have a second portlet that is supposed to retrieve the value being passed from within the portlet class and then the second ADF portlet is supposed to display. I will eventually do more work with the value, but I am just trying to get the events to work properly first. Here is the code within the receiving portlet class:
    public class drugallergies extends ADFBridgePortlet {
    @ProcessEvent(name="selectPatientResult")
    public void processSelectPatientEvent(EventRequest request, EventResponse eventresponse) throws PortletException, IOException {
    Event event = request.getEvent();
    String username = (String)event.getValue();
    System.out.println("Selected Patient: " + username);
    eventresponse.setRenderParameter("patient", username);
    I have also made sure that I have put the following within my web.xml file for the application so that the events are being passed as portlet events and not faces events. I am still fairly new to ADF, but not to portals or portlets, which is why I am going this route.
    <context-param>
    <description>Allows for fired events to go to the portlet and not to the faces layer</description>
    <param-name>javax.portlet.faces.autoDispatchEvents</param-name>
    <param-value>false</param-value>
    </context-param>
    I am never seeing the receiving event get processed, meaning that I never see the println get processed with the receiving value. Please help because there are no examples out in the world for going this route. There are examples, but they require you to create an ADF application first and then convert the application to a portlet. I am using the Portlet Creation wizard within JDeveloper but creating ADF based pages for the Views modes.

    Wait... You have to make a distinct difference between portlet events and contextual events in ADF.
    Contextual events in ADF can be converted to portlet events.
    If the full refresh of a portlet is an issue for you then even contextual events will not solve your problem.
    Regardless the use of parameters or events, portlets do not support partial page rendering or ajax. In order for a parameter to pass or an event to be triggered, it need to have a reference to the ActionResponse or RequestResponse. If they don't have the proper reference they will not be able to trigger the event.
    In the case you are talking about, the selection of a record, this won't be able to trigger an event because the selectionModel will be triggered by a partial submit.
    The only work around for this problem is by adding a "select" button that will do a full submit.
    This is not a limitation of ADF, it is a limitation of the portlet standar because the standard itself does not have anything that supports partial page rendering or ajax...
