CK-7W Cark-126 Compatbility

I have a Cark-126 professionally installed in my car. It allworks well. I have upgraded phones and want to use a butooth device to connect. Can I simply buy a CK-7W and simply replace the handsfree unit in the kit with the one from the CarK-126 installed in the car? Looking at the CK-7W all the connections look the same.

Yes, just make sure you check the blue wire is to an ignition supply and not live all the time.

Thanks. Is CK-7W not the replacement for the 126 though? We have already replaced the cradle once to accommodate 6230i, from cradle for 7250i. Was hoping to do it once again!

  • Cark-126 connections (esp. to car radio)

I am struggling to find wiring instructions for the Cark-126 car kit. Can anyone help?
In particular I want to wire it into my Car Radio (Pioneer KEH-P4830R in 1999 Honda Civic) so that:
    * I use the radio’s loudspeakers (ie. not the Cark’s speaker)
    * The radio mutes automatically (the radio does specifically support this)
    1. Do I need to buy any additional cables to do this? (ie. not already included in the car kit).
    2. If not how do I connect the kit’s control unit (HFU-4) to the radio?
    3. Where do I connect the Yellow (“radio mute”) core of the PCU-4 power cable?
    4. Is there anywhere I can still download / obtain the installation manual? (it’s no longer available on Nokia website)
    Thanks, Andrew

You will need to buy a mute interface to make the sound come through the car speakers, this will also provide power to the car kit & can be ordered with a cark-126 plug already on the lead, so it just plugs in. The pioneer radio will have a yellow wire on the back with a tag stating mute wire, connect this to the yellow on your car kit. I would not recommend you try and install this yourself because you can do a lot of damage if you dont know what you are doing, look in you phone book and find a specialist who can supply all the corect parts and fit it properly for you.

  • Upgrading CARK-126 to CK-7W

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if this was a simple job?
I currently own a Nokia E65 which I have been connecting to my CARK 126 kit with the PopPort plug. It annoyed me as with this phone voice calls were never loud enough (so pretty unusable) but TomTom directions were fine and very loud. Anyway now the only bit that works is the charging and I get the "enhancement not supported error". With the demise of the PopPort it's time for a change
I've got a CK-7W bluetooth car kit and I was wondering how much of the bits of the old kit I could leave in place and reuse such as, the power cable, the microphone, the speaker, the aerial thing... or does the whole lot have to come out and be replaced?
thanks very much for any help!

No it is a different connector, but the wire colours are the same, you may need to connect the blue wire as it was not required on older kits.

  • Nokia N73 + CR-28 cradle + CK-7W carkit

hello i have my NOKIA N73 in a cradle CR-28 with the carkit CK-7W and it works great! And i don't use the bluetooth, because now he is charging the battery and the light wil stay on.

My N73 works fine with a CARK-126, using a CR-28 cradle. I've put some photos on my blog if you want to see for yourself:

Why doesn't Nokia list this cradle as suitable for the N73 on their website?!

  • 6230i CAR KIT PROBLEM

    Hi All,
I have recently bought a car with a Nokia cak kit.
    Part nos;
    HFU-4
    AX-15S
    MBC-15S
Which, from my limited internet ability, understand amounts to a CARK-126 kit.
I purchased a Nokia 6230i,which I understand works with this kit, but when I connect the phone I get the message 'Enhancement not supported'.
I have cleaned the connectors with an eraser, but to no avail.
Please can anyone shed some light on the matter.
    Many thanks

The message "Enhancement not supported" suggests a compatibility problem, and from the Nokia website I could not fnd CARK-126. Where did you find out that this car kit works with the Nokia 6230i? Was the source reliable?
If it turns out that this car kit is not compatible and you do want to intall one into your car, use the Nokia website to find a suitable replacement for the CARK-126

  • E61 and CR-47 in-car handsfree issues

    Compatability issues:
I've just installed the CR-47 handsfree holder for the E61 in my Mini and connected the antenna, replacing a previous holder for smaller 6100 pop port Nokia. However, now when the E61 is firmly in the holder it charges but when making a call does not automatically turn the radio off and go through the car speaker system etc, so you can't talk to the other caller. But if I put my old Nokia into the CR-47 it works beautifully.
Could there be a problem with the setup of my E61 which is preventing connection? It seems that the E61 cannot trigger the correct Pop-Port connector for routing through the car kit - very silly.
I'm afraid I don't know which car kit it is, but I do know that it was professionally fitted with cable runs through the structure of the car and all wired up to the in-car entertainment system etc.
There is also an indicator in the top righthand corner of the screen - a tray with an arrow pointing upwards. What does this mean, I can't find it in the manual?
I don't see how Nokia can sell this cradle for the E61 with a Pop-Port interface when it won't interact with the handsfree functions except for charging.
    Thanks guys!

It sounds like you have a cark-126 car kit which has old software and limited compatabillity, you will need to upgrade this to a ck-7w. you can identify a cark-126 if the pop port plug going into the bottom of the cradle is rubber, has no nokia makings & has small slits to the bottom.

OK, it might not be the CARK-126. The Mini is 2002 registered so it could be a different kit. All I know is that the kit is all plugged in behind the CD player with the microphone coming out next to the drivers mirror.
Could it be another car kit?
Is there anything I can do to make it work at all?
    Can I change the wiring?
Just seems like the E61 is unable to mute the system, but is able to charge and goes into car mode. Also, the other car kits that are compatable are bluetooth ones, so there is no need for the Pop-Port, so why have it except for charging!
I basically want to be able to use the Pop-Port system and have the E61 work the same way the 6100 does.Message Edited by peab1 on 10-Aug-2006

  • E90 and Hands Free Car Installation

I have a problem, my car an Alfa 156 is fitted with a Nokia hands free set and this works perfectly with my old 9320i phone through the POP port.
My new phone is an E90 Communicator and I wish to update my car kit to match. The E90 does not have a POP port and I believe relies on using a Bluetooth connection whan used in this context, I also want the cradle to be an active one to keep the phone charged.
The problem is that the control box fitted to my car is an HFU-4 unit and this unit does not support bluetooth.
With all of the cabling already installed and working for the antenna, microphone, connection to the car radio etc I want to take advantage of this and change the control unit to a HFU-5 unit which I believe does have blootooth built in, and change the existing cradle as well.
    Is this modification possible?
Where can the parts be obtained?
What should I be asking for?
    Thjanks for your help, Mark.

    Hi msandilands
Presumably you have a CARK-126 fitted in your Alfa Romeo. The connections are the same on the HFU-5 (CK-7W) but you will need the CU-7 control button to adjust volume and answer the calls. You will also need to connect the blue wire on cable set PCU-4 to 12v +ve ignition sense to turn unit on/off.
Unfortunately you might need to use a Brodit holder for the cradle solution.

  • Which Car Kit for my trusted 6230 & 6230i

I am so confused with the amount of Car Kits available. I would like a kit for my 6230 & 6230i and have seen 2 so far. The CARK 91 and the CARK 126 but do not know which would be more suitable. I do not want Bluetooth connection, I would just like to plug the phone in a cradle and have a decent 2 way conversation. Any ideas on which kit would be the most suitable. Power/stereo mute/external antenna would be nice but not essential. Thanks in advance.

CK-7W Car kit using the wired connection into an MBC-15s Cradle with the AXF-15s Antenna Coupler.
The only downside to these older wired car kits is that there is no digital speech processing so there will always be some background noise. Therefore is it critical that the microphone is correcly placed directly in the line of your voice and away from air flow from an open window or air vent.

  • Car kit for 6500 from 6230i

I have the now old cark 126 great holds and charges the phone even has an arial. It seems what ever I do now with my new phone is a backward step. I am begining to think I should have kept my 6230i instead of changing to the 6500c.
I hope one of you can help with the following issues.
1 Which hands free kit should I use?
2 Is there a cradle available?
3 What about charging the phone ?
    4 arial ?

The only option you have is to change your car kit, Nokia only do bluetooth car kits for 6500 classic. Look at Nokia ck-15w or ck-7w, your phone will work with other brands of bluetooth kits like Parrot or THB Bury.

  • Car Kit for 6121

I have a new Nokia 6121 phone. I also have a built in car kit which was for a 6100. Is there any way the car kit can be adapted to work with the 6121?
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

switch on the ignition, then search for devices, if your phone finds a ck-7w then connect to it, if not you may have a cark-126. do you have a nokia button on the dash?.

  • Bluetooth with HFU 4??

    Hi,
Our car has a Nokia hands free kit with HFU 4 and pop port connection. My wife now has a Nokia 3109 (work supplied) with no pop port connection. My question is can you get a blue tooth connector for the kit, if so what do I need??
    Any input gratefully received
    Jeremy

HFU-4 is the control unit for a Cark-126 car kit.
This is a wired only car kit and unfortunately there are no more handsets from Nokia with this wired connection. All new Nokia phones are Bluetooth only for car kit connection.
So the short answer is unfortunately, no

  • Kit questions, CK-6, CK-7

I have a couple Nokia phones...a 6019i and a 2865i. Both appear to have the same pop port on the bottom...or at least very similar.
The owner's manual for the 6019i shows the proper car kit is a CK-6 or CARK-126 (with MBC-17 holder) while the 2865i shows CK-7 and no holder mentioned.
    My questions are:
    1. Will either kit posibly work with both of them?
    2. What is the proper holder for the 2865i?
    3. Do both kits (or either if them) have an actual (external) antenna connection that is more than just a sleeve type connection at the phone?
    4. What is the actual difference between CARK-126 and CK-6?
    5. Is there anywhere I can find pdf's of the manuals for these kits / accessories in question?
    thanks

I already have the manuals for the phones, as I was looking for manuals for the kits. Anyway, I had done quite a bit of research since the post, and from what I found on my own:
The 6019i uses a MBC-17 holder, and either car kit (CK-6,CK-7) should work with it.
The 2865i does not seem to have a holder (other than universal ones) but would in theory work with either kit using a pop port cable, and in bluetooth mode with the CK-7.
The down side is that apparently unless the holder has it, there is no antenna connection on any of the Nokia kits, which seems a little backwards in theory...as that was once considered on of the main reasons to even have a car kit...to allow connection to an external antenna. This is also the case with the MBC-17...and any newer holder that I have seen. Also, the good ole' conveninece headset will not work with the CK-7, which was also part of the coolness of older Nokia kits. I am not sure about the CK-6 however...as it appears to have the port for it in pictures, but that is by no means a guarantee - as pics seen may not even be of the same unit. So all in all the newest kits are becoming little more than a universal (bluetooth) kit, even when if the maker is the same as the phone in question. That't too bad.
Maybe this info will help others...but then again, if a one and two year old phones are already old enough that their accesories are already discontinued, then I guess it is unlikely how much help this will be in the future.
