CKF in BEx Analyzer
Hi Gurus,
I got an issue with BEx CKF that the formula is being calculated differently for different line items.
We do have a CKF in our report which is as : Column1=Column2Column3column4.
And here we have Billing Document as the Key in the report.
Now when I executed the reprot, the values are correct until I keep the Billing Doc in the report Rows.
But once I take out the Billing Doc from the report and drill down the values, then the values for Column1 are not calculated as per the given formula.
This inconsistancy is only for few line items.
If we have 10 rows in the report, then in few rows, we got this problem and in some line items, it is calculateing correctly.
Can anyone pls suggest why this strange behaviour and give me a possible solution pls...
Best Rgds
Kumar
Hi Kumar
Could you please try to clarify when things are right and when they are wrong?
Now when I executed the reprot, the values are correct until I keep the Billing Doc in the report Rows.
But once I take out the Billing Doc from the report and drill down the values, then the values for Column1 are not calculated as per the given formula.
I have a particularly hard time figuring out what you mean by "once I take out the billing doc from the report and drill down the values" => WHICH values???
Please explain that once more in greater detail.
regards

CKF not showing correct results in BEx Analyzer
Dear Friends,
I am getting different results when viewed from BEx Analyzer and Web Analyzer for the same query. BEx Analyzer shows incorrect results. The column that is showing different is a local formula (say Formula3) that is a result of dividing Formula1 by Formula2.
BEx Web calculates Formula3 correctly while BEx analyzer does not.
I am in BI 7.0 SP 10.
Any Clues?
Thanks
VirenFor this calculated column set aggregation level as sum.

How to create a new column in BEx Analyzer
Hello,
I have 12 characteristics and 7 Key figures in my Query. This includes RKF and CKF.
I'm executing the query in BEx Analyzer.
Now I want to include a new column which will be a replica of another Key figure column.
How to do this?
Regards,
ArifHello Arif,
You can do the setting in BEx QD and view it in Analyzer.
You can create a new formula and include the keyfigure in that formula.
This will be displayed as a new column on execution.

BEx Analyzer Problems. Advice on Patches
Hi.
We are having some probles with BEx Analyzer.
For instance.
1. Run the query in BEx Analyzer and it displays different results in RSRT than in BEx Analyzer.
2. Dates sometimes have the day and month the wrong way around from what is stored in the cube field.
3. Changes made to CKF are not changed when the query is saved.
It appears there are other numerous BEx problems and I need some advice for the best solution to deal with these and other similar problems which will occur.
BW Version: SAP Netweaver 7.0 Release 700 Level 0013 Highest Support: SAPKW0013
Query Designer: BI Add on 7.X (Based on 7.10) Support Package 3, Revision 519
Analyzer: BI Add on 7.X (Based on 7.10) Support Package 3, Revision 949
Please could somebody explain the best way forward and also explain the procedure and disruption caused by upgrading support packages/notes/support package stacks.
I have looked at some sap notes and it appears there is a version 17 support package available and also quite a lot of notes on BEx problems.
The BEx Aanlyzer version above.. Is this an old version?
Best,
Steveyour frontend is indeed "old"... we're on Support Package 8, Patch 1, Revision 1443
try upgrading the front end first... it might solve a lot of your issues already
also, the date problem... are you sure that's a BI error and not a "local" setting on some user's pc's (difference between US and European time zones for instance)??? -
Webi Vs Bex Analyzer for the same query
Hi Experts ,
I face an issue in Webi Vs Bex Analyzer for the same query :
Output of Bex query:
Transport System Location ID Quantity
PIPEC1-Z4 LOCCP1-Z4 1,000.000 BBL
LOCCP2-Z4 400 TO
LOCGAL-Z4 *
LOCRAS-Z4 200 TO
Result *
Here as the Unit of measure is different, the RESULT displays a *
Only in cases where the unit of measure is the same, the result
is displayed correctly.
However in webi, the sum function blindly adds up without any possibility
to check whether the uom is the same.
How can I check to add only when the units are the same ?
Regards, Jerin.Hi Jerin,
Each Key Figure used in a BW query can have up to three different sets of information:
Numeric value of the Key Figure corresponding to the Key Figure without the unit.
Unit or Currency information, A Dimension object with character format that contains the unit or currency. For example, 'USD', 'u20AC', 'km'
Formatted value, representing the user-specific formatting. A Dimension object with character format that contains the Key Figure and the unit (formatted value) based on user preferences configured on the SAP server. For example, '200 USD', '345 u20AC', '25 km'
Each Key Figure is represented with a Measure object in a Class u201CKey Figures.u201D In the case where the Key Figure is configured in BW with a unit, an additional Dimension object will be added representing the unit information. The u201CFormattedu201D value represents the numeric value Formatted as a string value, following the user-specific formatting settings.
Or if doesn't appear the Unit, for some CKF or RKF it happens, you can add to your BEx query and then to the universe the unit or currency and create a separate dimension with that information.
I hope this help you.
Best regards,

Difference between bexbrowser and Bex analyzer
Hi,
can any body tell me what is the difference between bex browser and bex analyzer and how end users will access the reports and how they access SAP.Hi
*BEx Web Analyzer *
The BEx Web Analyzer is a standalone, convenient Web application for data analysis that you can call using a URL or as an iView in the portal.
The Web Analyzer allows you to execute ad hoc analyses on the Web: When you have selected a data provider (query, query view, InfoProvider, external data source), the data is displayed in a table with a navigation pane. You can navigate to the data and use other Web Analyzer functions available in the application toolbar. For example, you can change the type of data display, use the information broadcasting functions to broadcast your analyses to others, and create printable versions of your analyses.
In the Web Analyzer, you can save the data view generated from navigation and analysis as a query view by choosing Save View in the context menu, and you can save the ad hoc analysis by choosing Save As. When the query view is saved, only the data view is saved; when the ad hoc analysis is saved, the entire Web application is saved, including the properties of Web items and the layout of the data.

Bex Browser
The Business Explorer Browser (BEx Browser) makes it possible for you to access all document types of the Business Information Warehouse that are assigned to your role or that you have stored in your favorites. You can select and open documents assigned to you in the BEx Browser or store and manage new documents in the BEx Browser.
Document types that you can work with in the BEx Browser are:
· BW workbooks
· Documents that are stored in the Business Document Service (BDS)
· Links (references to file system, shortcuts)
· Links to internet sites (URLs)
· SAP transaction calls.
· Web applications and Web templates
· Crystal Reports

Difference between Bex Analyzer and Bex WAD
Hi Every one,
I am pretty new to SAP, and working on SAP BW Front end.
I am pretty aware of Bex Analyzer and also Browser, but i always have a doubt about Bex WAD.
In my present job i talk to the users and take the requirments and create queries in the Bex analyzer which i am comfortable doing it.
I also know all the features of Analyzer and created quries and also published it on web, and also created workbooks and inserting multiple quries in the workbook etc etc..
However i have zero knowledge on WAD and how it is useful to me, and as if now i haven't got any requirment from the client for me to create any report in WAD or do some thing in WAD.
I have gone through SAP SDN help etc but i am not understanding it at all.
So can any one explain me in a laymans terms what WAD is and how it will be useful to me?
and also if possible send me link which has got PDF screen shots of what WAD is?
Points is for sure.
Regards,
RamRaj,
Thanks for the reply, but i still did not get the understanding about WAD. i have studied the link which you sent me.
I am still not able to understand how it is helpful for people like me,
See i create my report in Query designer, and i can execute the query in Analyser. and if i want i can execute it in the Web from my query designer, and also i can create chart on the web if i want. And i can Broadcaste it in the Web.
and also if i want i can create it in the workbook and create chart in that work book.
Then what is the point of Web Application Designer (WAD).
See i have created the Query in Designer in Development say Sales report Query on the infoprovider for SD, now what should i do with it in WAD.
How can i get it in WAD, i went to start> all Programs>Bex> WAD and i logged in to development and a sereen opend. And from here what i can do, i mean how can i open my created query in WAD?
As you guys know i am new to SAP itself, but i dont see any advantage about WAD, i read all the articals and there i found that i can create Web Items, HTML etc etc, but i already have HTML, when i execute my query from the Designer i get it in Web Browser...
See my question is simple, i have a query which i have created in the Query Designer, now how can i get it to WAD and after getting it what can i do with it??
If any one has a screen shots of there pls send me.
And Sanjeev has sent me a PDF which i saw earlear and i done the same in my WAD but i am not about to get it to work.
I have given the points to every one but still what i need i did not get yet.

Conversion of characteristic values before displaying in Bex Analyzer
Dear all,
does anybody know whether it's possible to get influence on the manner in which a characteristic is embedded into an BEx Analyzer sheet (may be via user exit, function module exits or something else) .
In our project we have characteristics (describing production parameters) with numeric values which can't be used successfully with EXCEL AutoFilter functions because they are strings in EXCEL. Due to our data warehaouse design koncept it is not all right for us to store these values as key figures. So we are searching for methods to convert these string values into numeric values before we give them into the EXCEL sheet.
Lot of thanks for you in advance!
Dorothea Gebauer.High Leo Gillian,
at first thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately your information is not practicable for us. There are hundreds of characteristics, in the future there may be mor than two thousend, which have to be converted before they are embedded into the sheets. Therefore we need an automatically done conversion.

Unable to Upload data from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen
Hi,
No response from BEx Analyzer when I am trying to upload around 40,000 material from text file into BEx Analyzer selection screen using "Upload selections" options. But I am able to upload only 10,000 material from text file. I never faced same kind of issue when I am using BEx Analyzer 3.x. Please let me know I have to change any settings related to BEx or any other.
Thanks
Sri Krishna Ponnada.Hello
It seems you are reaching the .NET memory limitation informed in note 1040454.
Because 3.5 does not use .NET it can work that.

Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s
Hi,
can I use Excel 2002 with BEx Analyzer NW2004s? I read somewhere, it is possible only with Office 2003. It's true?
Thanks!Hi, for some reason the BI FAQs on SDN are not up-to-date. I will investigate and make sure they are refreshed asap.
You always find the up-to-date FAQs on SAP Service Marketplace /bifaq. There you see the correct answer:
Which versions of Microsoft Office are supported by SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) BI Business Explorer (BEx)?
BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 and Office XP, SP2 (this includes Excel 2002) based on GUI 6.40
BEx in SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) supports MS Office 2003 based on GUI 7.10
For information on planned support for Windows Vista and Office 2007 (based on GUI 7.10) please check the Functional Enhancements Schedule BI in NW7.0 (2004s).
There is
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools on MS Office 97
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Office XP (Excel 2002) in combination with GUI 7.10
no support for NW 7.0 (2004s) BEx Tools for Vista in combination with GUI 6.40

Problem-taking a long time to open Bex Analyzer
We upgraded from BW 3.1 to BI 7.0 SP9, Front End SP 9, Patch 3, Revision 370 and have a problem when we try to access Bex Analyzer. The response time is very poor. It can take as long as 3 minutes (or longer) for Bex Analyzer to open after we click on the Bex Analyzer option. When we were on BI 7.0, Front End SP 7, the response time was better but since upgrading to FEP 9, the time to open Bex Analyzer from our PCs is very long. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, how was it resolved? Thanks

BEx Analyzer not working in SAP GUI 7.10
Dear All,
BEx Analyzer 7.0 is not working on SAP GUI 7.10. Following are the details:
OS: Windows XP SP2
Installed the following softwares (in the sequential order):
1. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 SP1
2. MS Office 2003 (without any service packs)
3. SAP GUI 7.10 (used SAPAllSetup.exe) to install both BEx Analyzer 3.5 and BEx Analyzer 7.0 alongwith SAP GUI 7.10.
While BEx Analyzer 3.5 runs fine, 7.0 does not.
Upon running BEx Analyzer 7.0 from the Programs menu, I see a toolbar on the left hand side on MS Excel in German. Whenever I click on any button, they do not respond.
When I tried to install update for Office 2003 (KB907417), I received the message stating the patch has already been applied.
I also applied SAP GUI 7.10 Patch Level 8, but still the problem remains the same.
Running Tcode RRMX from the SAP GUI opens MS Excel with both the toolbars of 3.5 (on top) and 7.0 (on left). As before, 3.5 works fine, while 7.0 does not.
Do I need to install Office SP2 or SP3, as well? Or something else? Any solutions?
Thanks and Regards,
Sachin.Hi All,
This problem is due to .NET 2.0 assembly(nothing but .dll's),
Step1 : Check if you can see this C:\WINNT\assembly\GAC exists
If it does and still getting the error, then follow these steps,
1) Uninstall office03
2) Uninstall GUI
3) Uninstall .Net 2.0
4) Reboot
5) Install .dll(WindowsXP-KB935448-x86-dll.exe) fix(this is due to .net1.1 and 2.0 coexistence)----- only if u get a critical message at startup.
5a) Reboot
5b) Install .net1.1
5c) Reboot
5d) Install .net2.0
5e) Reboot
6) Install office 03
6a) Reboot
7) Install .PIA's (O2003PIA.MSI)
7a) Reboot
8) Install setupall.exe for GUI
9) Install KB907---- (office2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe)
10) Reboot
Let me know if you encounter any problems.
OR....
Update the Latest Patchs of GUI & Bex.
