    Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
    Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
    When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
    Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
    Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

    If your password is accepted, and Mail connects to the account, but you're prompted for the password repeatedly, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Note: these steps don't apply if the server rejects the password. That's a different problem.
    Step 1
    When prompted for the password, check the box marked Remember this password in my keychain.
    Step 2
    Check that the keychain is working.
    Step 3
    Check that the default keychain is unlocked.

  • Exchange 2010 – Export details about e-mails in the DB

    Hi
    We have an Exchange 2010 server (v14.03.0195.001) and now we have a need for doing an extended report of all the e-mails received between 1 March (DateStart) and 1 Sep 2014 (DateEnd).
    I am looking for a script (or program) exporting info about all the messages. The script should work like:
    1: For each mailbox dump the content to a file equal %User%.csv (Comma or TAB separated)
    2: For each message received between %DateStart% and %DateEnd% write one line to the file – the line should contain:
    A: Time received (preferable in the format YYYY.MM.DD HH.MM.SS)
    B: The IP-address the e-mail was sent from – retrieved from the message header (we subscribe to a cloud spam / antivirus service and all incoming e-mails are received from this company's IP address - this IP-address don't make sense)
    If easier all the IP-addresses the e-mail have "gone through" can be listed separated with ";")
    C: E-mail address the message was sent to
    D: Subject
    E: Name of all attachments separated with ";"
    Nice if the script will report to the screen during the run:
    Username / user number and how many messages has been listed to the %User%.csv file (update for each 1000? message)
    I am ready to pay some money for a working script or buy a "report generator" which can be used for this purpose. Nice if you have some advice.
    Best regards Harald

  • Custom header reading of bounce mail

    Hi,
    When I send a mail to invalid mail address on gmail server, form the bounce mail able to read the custom headers using javax.mail api.
    But when I send mail to invalid user on MS Exchange server, from the bounce mail I got, not able to read the custom headers using javax.mail. But the outlook shows (by looking at the option) the custom header is present. I think I may be missing some configuration while reading the mail from mail server using javax.mail. and not reading all the headers. (but its working with other email servers like gmail)

    First, you need to understand that it's up to the
    destination server what it returns, if anything, when
    you send a message to an invalid address.
    In this case, if sounds like the destination server has
    returned a message that includes all the headers
    you want to see, but you can only see them using
    Outlook and not when using JavaMail.
    Note that Outlook typically uses a Microsoft proprietary
    protocol to talk to Exchange, so it's possible for it to
    see and do things that are not possible using the
    standard internet protocols that JavaMail uses.
    You'll probably need to consult an Exchange expert
    to see if there are configuration options that control
    what information it makes available to internet
    protocol clients in this case.

  • Tracking of Bounced Mails

    Hi Friends,
    I am using Solaris outside a fire wall.
    I have a program which send mails to the receipients by making use of javax.mail package.
    The question is the mails are going perfectly fine but sometimes the mails are not going and I had also checked with the network at that time and it is fine.
    Now, I would like to track all the messages which are not sent and why??
    Where can I get those messages?
    I had checked the root mail of my solaris machine and there are no bounced mails.
    If it comes to the root mail is there any way that we can forward those mails to our personnel id's so that we can send them again>
    Regards,
    Shankar Medapati

    Hi Jay,
    Thanks for the concern...
    We r using the SMTP Server for sending mails.
    The problem I am facing is the SMTP properties I am using could not able to send mails to the receipients with addresses involving "co.in","@co.name.com",etc.
    But the problem I don't understand is when I send mails from the development environment where my app server and mail server are within the firewall there is no problem,but my app server resides outside the fire wall and my mail server resides with in the firewall. Please tell me weather there are any other settings to be done in the app server or mail server to handle this problem.

  • Tremendous amount of bounced mails in the mailq!

    Hi! I've set up a mailserver which worked very fine for months. I used pterobytes guides for frontline spam defense which worked like a charm. But suddenly my mailserver gets overwhelmed with tons of bounced spam mails in the mailq (thus any incoming and outgoing mails get stuck).

    1. This is spam which makes it into your system because you accept mail for unknown users:
    luser_relay = quarantine
    Unless you have a legal requirement, you should avoid accepting mail for unknown users. 99% of mail to unknown users is spam. The few legit mail with a wrong address should go back to sender so they know. Use Server Admin to remove it, so the setting in imapd.conf gets fixed as well.
    2. You have set amavisd to bounce spam. NEVER bounce or reject spam. The sender does not exist anyway and you just drown in backscatter.
    As a quick fix, edit /etc/amavisd.conf and change a few parameters to reflect the values below:
    $finalvirusdestiny = D_DISCARD;
    $finalbanneddestiny = D_DISCARD;
    $finalspamdestiny = D_DISCARD;
    $finalbad_headerdestiny = D_PASS;
    $satag_leveldeflt = -999;
    $satag2_leveldeflt = 3.0;
    $sakill_leveldeflt = 7.0;
    @localdomainsmaps = ( 1 );
    Restart amavisd when done by issuing:
    sudo /bin/launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
    sudo /bin/launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.amavis.amavisd.plist
    These values are a starting point to alleviate the issues you are experiencing. Once the situation is under control, you should adjust to your liking. For more info on the values, see here:

  • Delete bounced mail

    A mail I sent which bounced (company doesn't exist any more or whatever) keeps "retrying" is there a way of me stopping it ? Thanks for your time Roger

    Hi Roger,
    It's NOT really MAIL that is sending again and again ... and again your e-mail.
    It's the server where you send it to.
    The only way that I can think about is to LOG-INN to your provider and delete the message from there.
    Or, when you have setup a POP account, open Mail Preferences and go to Accounts>Advance> and empty messages from the server NOW.

  • Bounced mail in trash?

    I noticed recently that the junk mail I "Bounce" goes to the trash. What is this about??? Does that mean it's not bounced but rather sent to the trash?

    I thought bouncing mail meant that it was like it never got to my computer
    Only apparently, and only if the bounce is received by someone that doesn't know how to interpret header information:
    http://www.by-users.co.uk/faqs/email/headers/
    http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers.html
    So should I stop doing this?
    Definitely. Even though the bounce apparently says that the original message was sent to an invalid address, anyone looking at the headers can easily determine that the bounce was created by a mail client and sent from a valid address, rather than created by the mail server as a result of the destination address being invalid -- you can check this sending a message to yourself, then bouncing it, then doing View > Message > Raw Source on the received bounce.

  • Questions about e-mail sync etc...

    Hi,
    I will be setting up a new Palm Pre Plus Verizon phone soon but had a couple of questions to make sure I now what's possible.
    1) Is it possible to sync only the Calendar / Contacts from Microsoft Exchange but not the e-mail (work account)?  Can the same be done for other accounts (google, yahoo, etc...)?
    2) If not, can the Calendar/Contacts be set to automatically download but the e-mail be set for manual control (downloaded by user action only) thus choosing never to download?
    3) If so, can those preferences be set differently per individual account (Exchange vs Google vs Yahoo etc...)?
    Also...I've seen several Palm reps on the posts suggesting users check out homebrew / 3rd party opportunities to customize their phones even though Palm doesn't "support them.  Can I get an overall take on whether this is a good idea or not?  Do you run the risk of ruining / breaking your phone using those types of 3rd party solutions (I would assume not if your reps are suggesting to look there...)?
    Thanks very much for any input.

    Hi,
    Thank you so much, you've been a big help.
    Would it be possible to bother you (or anyone in the know) with more complicated questions I've been facing trying to set up the palm?
    I understand about how to Exchange (and control e-mail).
    I still have questions though, on e-mail / contact setup.
    My questions revolve around multiple accounts from the same place, and also AIM buddy control (and multiple AIM accounts).
    Basically...is it a problem to pull in multiple Gmail accounts for example (more than 1)?  I use 2 different Gmail accounts (one for my friends / family, and one for work)?  That along with the Exchange acount?
    As for AIM...I also have two AIM accounts I use (one for friends / family, one when working).  when I created both accounts, they sort of merged, and both stayed on (I wasn't able to control signing one off, keeping one on at a time)?  Am I just not finding the right settings?
    Also...the contacts list was a disaster after bringing in the AIM accounts.  Even after deleting the accounts (because I couldn't get them to work right), the screennames stayed in my contacts list, and when I try to delete them (swipe away, choose delete) they say AIM profiles can't be deleted...even though the account is deleted.  Am I missing something??
    I read in the manual, you are supposed to be able to stop contacts from feeding from certain accounts by choosing the menue / prerences / selecting the account / stopping the sync....but that wasn't even an option as the only "account" listed in preferences is the Palm account.
    I'm just terribly confused on how to set things up and what can be controlled.  Thanks for any help you can provide (or a place I can go for this assistance).
    Thanks!
