Clarification between Full Time Equivalent and headcount

Hi Experts
Can anybody please explain, or refer me any relevant link to a documentation, the difference between headcount and FTE .kindly also explain me their relatioship and their effect on employee assignment.
Thanks in advance!

FTE - Full Time Equivalent
Headcount - is the number of actual person assignments
These might help -

  • What is the maximum distance between a time capsule and an airport express?

What is the maximum distance between a time capsule and an airport express?

You can only "extend" the signal one time, so you need to have the AirPort Express located approximately 1/2 to 2/3 of the distance from the Time Capsule to the area that needs more wireless coverage.
I doubt that this will help much since you have a very challenging setup. Wireless is really only for "same room" or "nearby rooms" around the corner.
To do this correctly you will need to use an Ethernet cable connection from the Time Capsule to the AirPort Express, which could then be located close to the xBox.
If it is not possible to run the Ethernet cable, you might look at a pair of Ethernet powerline adapters to send a "psuedo" Ethernet signal over the AC wiring in your home.
This will not be anywhere near the performance of a regular Ethernet cable, but it will likely be much better than wireless.
Since Ethernet over powerline (EOP) is somewhat unpredictable, you would want to have a very clear understanding of the store's return policy in case things don't work out as hoped.  Any computer / electronics superstore will have a selection of powerline adapters to choose from.

  • Difference between Full Update V3 and V2

    Hi Gurus
explain me briefly abt the difference between the full update V3 and V2..
pls post some links to understand in detail
    regards
    Prince

    Hi Prince,
V1 Update: It is a Synchronous update. Here the Statistics update is carried out at the same time as the document update (in the application tables).
    • V2 Update: It is an Asynchronous update. Statistics update and the Document update take place as different tasks.
    o V1 & V2 don’t need scheduling.
    • Serialized V3 Update: The V3 collective update must be scheduled as a job (via LBWE). Here, document data is collected in the order it was created and transferred into the BW as a batch job. The transfer sequence may not be the same as the order in which the data was created in all scenarios. V3 update only processes the update data that is successfully processed with the V2 update.
FULL update, this will load everything which is there in the source system and then do INIT WITHOUT DATA TRANSFER to set the delta and schedule your delta loads accordingly.
    Init Delta
You run an init delta from BW sytem using an info package .
Init delta will create an entry in R3 side table ROOSPRMSC with the filed init state with 'X' . Then upon this entry the system estbalishes a link between Extraction Queue . After succesfull initilization you can see the data source in RSA7 in R3 side . Then after this only you can extract data from the set up table .
    Init Delta Types:
    Init Delta
This will initialize the delta in R3 and exctract the set up table data into R3 . It is full update .
    Init Delta without data transfer
This will only initialize the delta , No extraction takes place .
    Use of init delta .
Without init delta you cannot schedule an Extraction . If you have initialized a delta , You can get delta reocrds from the succesive run in the delta Q .
When ever you need to do a extraction if for the first time you run a scheduler you will get
    Full Update
    Init Delta
Full Update =====> Init Delta + Extraction
Init Delta =======> Initialization first , Extarction
Init Delta Without data transfer ====> Only Initialize in RSA7 .
After the first Run u get ....Folowing in Scheduler
    Full Update ,Delta Update .
Queued Delta: Document posting -->Appl table --> Stat table ---> 10,000 LUW ---> LBWQ ---> RSA7 ---> BW delta run delta into BW .
Here 10,000 Transaction is collected as 1 LUW and records moved to RSA7
In case of Queued delta LUW's are posted to Extractor Queue (LBWQ), by scheduling the V3 job we move the documents from Extractor queue to Delta Queue(i.e. RSA7) and we extract the LUW's from Delta Queue to BW side by running Delta Loads. Generally we prefer Queued Delta as it maintain the Extractor Log which us to handle the LUW's which are missed.
    Direct Delta:
Document postings -> Appl table -> Stat tables --> RSA7 (Delta Queue ) ---> Using delta run delta come into BW .
Here each transaction is 1 LUW and each LUW is moved to RSA7 .
In case of Direct Delta LUW's are directly posted to Delta Queue(i.e. RSA7) and we extract the LUW's from Delta Queue to BW side by running Delta Loads. If we use Direct Delta it degrades the OLTP system performance because when LUW's are directly posted to Delta Queue (RSA7) the application is kept waiting untill all the enhancement code is executed.
Non-serialized V3 Update:With this update mode, the extraction data for the application considered is written as before into the update tables with the help of a V3 update module. They are kept there as long as the data is selected through an updating collective run and are processed. However, in contrast to the current default settings (serialized V3 update), the data in the updating collective run are thereby read without regard to sequence from the update tables and are transferred to the BW delta queue.

  • What is the difference between Real-Time (RR) and Time-Sharing (TT)?

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to distinguish between LMS process priorities of Real-Time Vs Time sharing and was not able to find any good document explaining me the difference between them. May be one of you Gurus can explain the difference between TT and RR? Any metalink doc id or any url on this issue will be appreciated.
    --MM

Hi, Time Sharing scheduling is based on credits that are allocated to the process while creation and as long as process keep consuming the OS resources (CPU etc), its priority keeps on changing dynamically (Because process has lost credits) where as processes with Real Time Scheduling are given priority over other processes configured with Time Sharing (even kernel resources).
In simple terms, if LMS is configured with Time Sharing scheduling on a very busy Oracle RAC system, LMS process may contend for the CPU resources, which may cause performance bottleneck in cluster environment.
In Oracle Real Applicaiton Cluster, various organizations has gained performance benefits of setting few Oracle processes such as LMS with Real Time scheduling.

  • How to fetch Functional Area for FTE (Full Time Equivalent)

    Hi
We have a report that needs to be developed--FTEs for each Functional Area.
We are trying to fetch Functional Area from Employee's Master Cost Center. Our structure has Employee; Master Cost Center, Functional Area and FTE. However this structure is not showing any values. What is the way out. We are on BI-7.0 and we are using standard BI Objects [0Employee; 0Cost Center].
    Appreciate your suggestion.
    Regards
    Srinivas

    Hi
I wish to provide more information to you.
We are implementing Integrated Planning (BI 7.0).
Even though Functional Area is a Navigational Attribute of Cost Center when I am trying to establish Characteristic Relationship between Cost Center and Functional Area. I am not seeing Functional Area for the Cost Center.
I believe if we could establish the relationship we can fetch the relevant report from the layout.

  • Lost connection between airport time capsule and extreme, can't get extreme back in network, says connection excellent

I have 2 terabyte Time capsule, last gen, not newest.  I have a similar airport extreme to extend my network.  I was running Lion.  I upgraded to Maverick to see if it would fix this problem, and it did not.  When using airport utility, latest version, it says that the extreme has an excellent connection, but fails to extend the network. This started the last time I upgraded Lion.  I have tried rebooting, renaming the extreme to no avail.  I moved it to the same room as the time capsule, no luck.

    Hello Thomas,
You may want to try performing a factory reset on the AirPort Extreme.
If you have configured your Wi-Fi base stations in the past, it may be helpful to do a factory default reset of each Wi-Fi base station that will be part of the wireless extended network before you begin.

  • Differences between Time Capsule and Airport Extreme re Time Machine?

We are [told|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2299608] that a "USB drive connected to a recent dual-band Airport Extreme may work as a destination for Time Machine backups," but that "... it's not supported by Apple."
With regard to Time Machine, what are the relevant differences between a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme acting as a USB disk server, e.g. protocol used, size limits, server limitations, etc.?

+We are told that a "USB drive connected to a recent dual-band Airport Extreme may work as a destination for Time Machine backups," but that "... it's not supported by Apple."+
A bit of clarification. For the record, Apple says that you cannot do this in this Support Document. I haven't seen a similar document for Snow Leopard, but I'm sure it's out there. You will receive no assistance from Apple in the event of any problems.
Despite this, some users have tried this anyway. Some report success, others report some success and yet others report no success. We've also seen a number of recent posts from users who say that it worked for them for a time...several weeks to several months...but they are now experiencing problems.
Having experienced the latter myself first hand, my opinion would be that it would be unwise to even consider Time Machine backups with the AirPort Extreme unless you have another backup strategy already in place.
The Time Capsule was designed to work with Time Machine backups. The AirPort Extreme was not. The answer may be that simple.

  • Behaviour's difference between Time Capsule and Airport Extreme + Ext HDD ?

    Hello !
I would like to know if there is any behaviour's difference between a Time Capsule and an Airport Extreme base station + External HDD ? For instance, once Time Machine configured, have I to mount manually the drive connected to the Airport Extreme to trigger the backup ? Or once my wifi is up, TIme Machine detects the Airport Extreme base station, the hard disk, and triggers the backup ?
    Regards,
    Mr Lejeune

Theoretically there is no difference between the two. In reality there are two differences. First, Apple does not officially support Time Machine backups on a drive connected to the AEBS. If you run into technical difficulties you'll get no help from AppleCare techs nor from an Apple genius. Second, my experience suggests that it is a fragile backup backup system. My wife is using a TC at work whilst I have a base station and hard drive connected to it at home. Both of us have MacBooks, have the same software, and have the same basic habits. In a three month period I experienced frequent stalled backups - the last one fatal. After numerous attempts to get the backup going again I was forced to format the drive and start over. When I started over, having verified that the backup was working again, I abandoned TM and began backing up wirelessly using ChronoSync. My wife had fewer stalled backups (not none, but fewer) and thus far, nearly a year later, she has never had to format and start over.
In theory, wireless backup with TM is a great idea but its execution presently leave something to be desired. Frankly, while I am using TM to backup to a tethered hard drive and I'm beginning to trust it despite being a version 1 product, I wouldn't rely on TC and TM as my sole backup scheme.

  • Is it possible to create a formula that converts a resource hours into full time units in project server 2010

    Hi
Is it possible to create a formula that converts a resource available hours into full time equivalent units in project server 2010? Say a resource has 160 available hours for any given month this will translate into 1 FTE for this month. If it is 80 hours
for that month then it will be 0.5 FTE and so on and so forth.
    Thanks,
    -Maurizio

    Maurizio,
It's a bit late, but there are two OLAP cubes that can provide you with this information in a pivot table in Project Server 2010.
"MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer" and "Resource Timephased" contains capacity measures that be used to provide calculated measures when the cube database is generated. You change OLAP cube configuration in "Server Settings -> Database Administration -> OLAP
Database Management". In either of the aforementioned cubes, use "Calculated Measures" to create two measures:
    Member Name
    MDX Expression
    Available (FTE)
    ([capacity]-[work])/[capacity]
    Work (FTE)
    [Work]/[Capacity]
These two fields will appear in the pivot table field list as "Values", and when combined with a "Time" column, can give you a picture of FTE usage and availability.
I prefer the portfolio version since it contains project/assignment data and resource data, letting you see just  how resources are being utilized.
One thing I have not been able to get around is getting ""Maximum Units" for a resource factored into the measure. A common practice is to allocate more that "100%" to generic resources to represent teams for planning purposes. The OLAP measures will show
only 0.0 to 1.0 FTE for any resource, even if a resource represents more than one body.
If you have an SSRS query you could share, I would appreciated it!
    Hope this helps!

  • Time Capsule and 2008 Airport Express

I'm getting a Time Capsule 2TB and I have a 2008 AirPort Express. Here are my questions: Will I be able to connect a 2008 Airport Express to the current Time Capsule. Will the connection speed of my AirPort Express affect the rest of the devices connecting to the Time Capsule? I remember that the earlier Express was not compatible with the Airport Extreme and I had to get the faster Express. Thanks.

We assume that you plan to use the AirPort Express to extend the signal from the Time Capsule.
After you have the new Time Capsule set up as your main router, temporarily locate the AirPort Express near the Time Capsule
Power up the AirPort Experss for a few minutes and then hold in the reset button on the device for 10 seconds and release. Allow a full minute for the AirPort Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light.
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the Mac's screen and wait a second or two for the heading of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click directly on the AirPort Express.
AirPort Setup will open up automatically and guide you through. Once the AirPort Express is set up, move it to a location that is approximately half way between the Time Capsule and area that needs more wireless coverage.
Power up the Express and check things out. You may need to experiment by moving the Express a bit closer to the Time Capsule or further away depending on the quality of the signal that the Express receives.
Remember that the wireless speed from the Time Capsule will be dropping off by the time that it reaches the Express, and the Express can only extend the speed of connection that it receives. So, devices that connect to the Express are going to be running at a lower speed than devices that connect to the Time Capsule.
You can avoid the speed drop at the AirPort Express if you can connect it to the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet cable connection, since there is no speed loss in a wire.

  • Time Capsule and iTunes

    Hey there,
first of all please excuse my bad english. I'm from germany and I don't practise my english as much as I should.
Well, I bought my first MacBook Pro in June this year and I must say it's really great. I am planning to buy a Time Capsule (1 GB) now. I'd like to save my entire iTunes Library on the Time Capsule, but yesterday somebody told me that Time Capsule does not support iTunes-Server. But I don't really understand what that means. Isn't it possible to access my music, movies and podcasts via Time Capsule? Is there any problem with that? Is there any difference between using Time Capsule and using a "normal" external harddisc?
I would really appreciate if somebody could try to help me with that issue.
    Thanks a lot.
    Greets
    Cord

I use this setup at home. My entire iTunes library is on my Time Capsule and it works like that.
But due to the TC drive going to sleep, there are two VERY annoying drawbacks:
    1. The TC goes to sleep after something like 1 minute. This means that the TC has to spin the hard drive each time a new track starts in iTunes, generating a few seconds of delay. I'm desperately trying to find a way to increase the TC drive sleep delay, with no luck so far.
    2. Be sure to have your TC drive mounted BEFORE lauching iTunes. Otherwise iTunes won't see the library path and will automatically set it to your home directory without any warning. You'll then need to re-set your library path in iTunes preferences. Annoying, I tell you.

  • How can I enlarge the calendar section for full-time events?

    Hi folks,
since the update to ios 5 the calendar section at the top of the daily view (with full-time events) is limited in size. If I enter more than two messages I have to scroll to see all events. This is annoying since I typically miss the birthdays I cannot see.
How can I change the behaviour to the "old" style: show me all full-time events and hide the bar that separates the full-tim events?

  • Making my Powerbook g4 into a full time desktop

I want to know if i can run a 26" SHARP AQUOS display with my 1.5GH G4 powerbook with a 128MB graphics card. I want to make my powerbook a full time desktop and i want to close my shell while in use (can i do that?). Let me know if thats possible. i also use expose' alot. Thanks - Richard

    Aquos 26" TV - 1366 x 768 resolution
    15" PowerBook - 1440 x 960 resolution
    23" Apple Cinema Display - 1920 x 1200 resolution
This TV has nearly 40% fewer pixels than a 15" PowerBook and these are spread over almost twice as much screen space. (I think you may need to use an S-video connection, as well.) If you ask me, you'd be much better off getting a 23" Cinema Display and an Elgato EyeTV box than an using an Aquos television as a display.
It is no problem using the PB with the lid closed (clamshell mode). They are built specifically for that. You will only need an external monitor, keyboard and mouse.
