Clarification for reloading purchased apps on iPod

I think I know the answer but I wanted to double-check before proceeding:
I recently did a fresh re-format and re-install on both of my Macs (10.6 on the Intel MBP and 10.5.8 on the G5 iMac), moved my music collection that was on the iMac to a networked drive and created a new network accessible iTunes library.
Today I finally plugged my iPod Touch into the iMac with the intention of backing up the apps that are loaded on the iPod but no longer reside in iTunes. iTunes wants to sync the iPod which will remove the apps. I've read that you can re-download your paid apps with your Apple ID at no cost. Is this the only option or can I backup the apps that are on the iPod somehow?
Thanks,
Sean

To answer my own question, there is already an Apple support article that shows how to transfer purchases from the iPod to iTunes:

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.alredy suggested
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HT5787 Change apple id for all purchased apps...

I want to change apple id in my iphone as my old apple ID's password is not working. Please help me. I want to change apple ID for all new and old purchases.

Have you tried logging out an back into that account on your phone (tap on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store), and/or tried getting the password reset for it : http://iforgot.apple.com (if you do get the password reset then you might need to logout and back into it) ?
If you create a new account then that will work for new purchases, but all of your existing downloads will remain tied to your old account, so only your old account will be able to redownload those purchases and/or download updates to its apps.

  • How to reload purchased apps no longer in app store?

Click here, follow the instructions, and sync the second device with the iTunes library containing the content.

  • How do I get my new Apple ID associated with an older MacBookPro so that I don't get charged more than once for a purchased app when I download it to the older computer recently upgraded to Snow Leopard?

I recently upgraded my 2 year old MacBookPro to Snow Leopard so I could download Face Time and Final Cut ProX to it.
I've already purchased the apps and installed on my iMAC and Macbook Air.
    After downloading Face Time I received the following mail;
"Your Apple ID, *************, was just used to purchase FaceTime from the App Store on a computer or device that had not previously been associated with that Apple ID.
If you made this purchase, you can disregard this email. This email was sent as a safeguard designed to protect you against unauthorised purchases.
If you did not make this purchase, we recommend that you go to iforgot.apple.com to change your password, then see Apple ID: Tips for protecting the security of your account for further assistance.
    Regards,
    Apple"
I don't want to be charged twice for these apps, especially Final Cut ProX, so how can I get the MacBookPro associated with the Apple ID I'm using now?
    Cheers

This is probably a new precaution that Apple has taken to alert folks that something has occurred with their account that has not occurred before*, namely a Mac has downloaded something from their account that has not done so before. And as the notice says, if it was you doing so, then you may safely ignore the notice. Also, do not be alarmed, Apple refers to all downloads as purchases, even when they are free.
But if you are truly concerned about the notice then you can authorize the Mac with your iTunes account, which should be the same as your MAS account. Open iTunes on the older Mac and sign into your account. Then in the Store menu choose Authorize This Computer. Now this Mac is definitely associated with your account and can now play media that you purchase from the iTunes Store as well.

  • Purchased Apps on App Store have disappeared

    Hi all,
When I was looking for a purchased app on my iPad earlier, I noticed that the App Store's purchased tab said "You do not have any purchased apps available to download." Why?! I've purchased over 300 both free and paid apps for the past 2 years and they were all there yesterday, and now they're not!
I signed out and in again on all of my devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, PC......) and they still won't appear! I also checked my purchased TV Programmes, Music and Books and they're all still there. But why not my apps?
I've checked and enabled iTunes in the cloud on every device and still nothing.
Is there a solution behind this, or is it just the iTunes online store is broken at the moment?
(I live in the UK by the way).
    Regards,
    Martin.

    Hi Martin,
I am experiencing the exact same thing today, on both my iPhone and iPad.  I noticed it after I updated a few apps on the iPad.  I've rebooted, re-logged-in, etc.
I hoping it's just a tempaorary issue with Apple's servers.
I'll return if I find out anything.
    Cheers,

  • Purchased Apps disappeared after OS update

During the OS update an error was generated. The pre-update backup did not backup any of my purchased apps. The update finished, but all of the apps I had are gone. I can go to my iTunes and see all the apps I purchased and what they cost, but I can't get them on my phone again without it trying to charge me for the same apps I already paid for. Please let me know how I can batch download all of my apps that it shows I already own. Thanks.

3rd party apps are not included with the iPhone's backup. No iTunes content is included with the iPhone's backup including 3rd party apps. All 3rd party apps available on your iPhone should be available in your iTunes library on your computer if you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. When this is selected, after downloading an app with your iPhone, the app will be copied to your iTunes library on your computer the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so, or should be.
You can re-download an app with iTunes on your computer or on your iPhone and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.
There is no batch download available for all apps.

  • How to get purchased Apps

I am sure you have seen similiar threads before but I couldn't see any during my search.
OK. I bought many applications over the years. I recently deleted all my application after restoring my IPhone 4. Now I can see my purchased application on ITunes store but I cannot download them through Itunes. Only option I have is to download each application one by one with my Iphone again. That causes error and time consuming. I downloaded one of the application by mistake and had to pay for it.
Can someone please tell me is there any way that I can downlad all the purchased application without researching all the purchased ones so far?
    many thanks.

All iTunes content that was on your iPhone before restoring your iPhone with iTunes should be in your iTunes library on your computer - all music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps.
If Sync Apps was selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes which should have been selected, after downloading an app with your iPhone the app would have been copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you synced your iPhone with iTunes after doing so.
This way you can also download an app with iTunes on your computer and install the app on your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, and remove an app from your iPhone without deleting the app by deselecting the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync. To reinstall the app again later, reselect the app under the Apps tab followed by a sync.
When restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, all apps that were selected as of the last time your iPhone's backup was updated will be re-installed automatically since all apps are in your iTunes library on your computer.
You can re-download an app with iTunes on your computer and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

  • Purchased apps deleted during sync; restoring from app store doesn't work

Hi. New iPad, syncing with OS10.5, iTunes 10.1.2
Purchased some apps (NYTimes, Pages, Sketchbook Pro) on iPad during trip. Came home and sync'ed. Apps deleted (along with data?), although free apps still present. Re-purchasing from iTunes allows me to pay full price. Account activity shows the apps were purchased. Download queue is clear. I'm logged in to my only Apple account.
I haven't yet tried to restore the iPad from iTunes, as I'm afraid of losing data.
I lost some paintings I did and a eulogy for my step mom. Any help restoring this stuff would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
From the iTunes menu bar click iTunes / Preferences then select the Advanced tab. Click: *Reset Warnings* and *Reset cache*, click OK.
