Clarification in MSE upgrade to 7.4.121 (3355 appliance)

Hi all ,
We have recently upgraded our WLC with 7.4.121. Hence we want to upgrade our MSE and prime alos in our environment .In installation and configuration of MSE guide , I am able to see the upgrade procdure either through WCS or CLI of MSE . But in release notes of 7.4.121 is telling about upgrade with data migration or without data migration. I m new to MSE . Which one method should I need to follow for upgrading the MSE ?Is it possible to update via Prime ?What is data migration ? Any other thing should i need to concentrate ?
Thanks ,
Vijay

Vijay,
That file is typically used when upgrading from previous v7.0. The other file is used when upgrading from older versions prior to v7.0. The time it takes to upgrade depends on how much data you have also if your doing a data migration or not. I have had an upgrade with data migration take 8 hours. So it really depends. If you don't need to save the data, I say it would take less than an hour.
Make sure you follow the directions though. First time you do this of course it will take longer.

  • Cisco 3502i will not upgrade to 7.4.121.0 from 7.2.111.3 2504 WLC "Downloading"

Cisco 3502i will not upgrade to 7.4.121.0 from 7.2.111.3. 2504. Wireless tab continues to say "downloading" state on all APs. Temporary fix is to set WLC back to 7.2.11.3.
This is only happening on a few stores that are on one particular Prime Infrastructure box. Other stores on other Prime boxes not having this issue as well as most stores on the same box also not having this issue.
Anyone run into this and was able to resolve?

Scott, I have a few 2504 having this issue. Some having this issue if the site recovered from a power outage.
I can upload the image to other WLCs without issue. Its just these few on one particular PI, leading me to think that some of the WLC have corrupt images.
Yes, TAC told me the issue with 7.4 in the "downloading" state was that there was a communication issue between the AP and WLC and that I would need to get into the AP which I can not do, being it a remote site and FW security disabled this ability.
    Some of TAC comments attached.

  • MSE Upgrade Question

    Greetings,
I am planning on upgrading my MSE from 7.2.110.0 to 7.4.110.0 so I can upgrade to Cisco Prime Infrastructure. After reading the release notes, step 1 has me wondering what data will be lost. See below.
"Step 1 Back up the existing database using the Prime Infrastructure. (We recommended this.)
All data existing on the system will be lost and a fresh blank database will be created."
What I am wondering is will all the configuration of MSE be lost as well such as network settings? If I attempt to do this remotely will I lose my ability to connect to it?
    Thanks,
    Robert

    Scott,
Thanks you for posting the link to the matrix. I was also looking at "Table 1     - AireOS Wireless LAN Controller Software Release Compatibility Matrix" on the same link but more at the top. I see now above this martix is states "
This matrix should not be used to get  compatibility information between other products, for example, Cisco  Prime Infrastrucutre compatibility with Cisco MSE. For compatibility  information between other products, see the respective matrices in this  document" So I goofed there.
The way I read it is it states I need to upgrade MSE to 7.4.110.0 for Prime 2.0. Now looking at the table in the link you sent just makes me more confused as what I need to do. Let me breakdown what versions I have currently.
WLC - 7.4.110.0 - Good for Prime 2.0 according toTable 6     Cisco Prime Infrastructure Compatibility Matrix
    NCS - 1.1.1.24
MSE - 7.2.110.0 - Good for Prime 2.0 according toTable 6     Cisco Prime Infrastructure Compatibility Matrix
    AP IOS - 15.2(2)JB2$
The point of me doing these upgrades is to get off of NCS and get onto Prime 2.0. Do you think I should just install Prime 2.0 and see how it goes at this point? I think I am ok now that I have read the matrix over. Thanks again.

  • Clarification regarding kernal upgrade

    Hi Experts,
In our production system (OS:AIX) we have database and central instance in host A and the dialog instance on host B.
As per my understanding I need to extract the kernal patch in
    hostA : DVEVMGS00/exe and SYS/exe/run
    hostB : D01/exe.
I have never done a kernal upgrade in this type of schenario. Kindly confirm if this process is right or anything else I need to do.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Amit Jana.

    Hi,
Plzz don't do like that HOST -A & HOST- B.
your central instance is there in HOST-A. Then do like this.
    1. Go to market place download the latest kernal.
    2. Stop your Sap Application Central (HOST-A) & Dailog (HOST-B) aslo.
    3. Take the backup of u r kernal dir that is RUN dir in HOST-A
backup means copy of run dir..
    4. Then uncar the downloaded files in HOST-A.
    5. Copy the all uncared files in RUN directory in HOST-A no need to copy HOST-B.
    6. Than start u r central instance (HOST-A).
    7. After complted successfully server up, then start u r Dailog instance (HOST-B).
    8. Automatic kernal will be exfected. No need to copy kernal in Dailog.
Plzz do this i was already did  my company. It working successfully.

  • Clarification on post upgrade Statutory requirement

The post steps of the R12 upgrade say to "Apply latest HRMS Legislative Updates" by referring to note 145837.1. This note shows the latest stautory patch for 12.1.3 to be Dec 2010. In our 11i instance we have already applied through "US & Canada End of Year 2010 Statutory Update Phase3 for 11i " prior to the upgrade. I'm assuming that we would apply this EOY Phase 3 patch for 12.1.3 and not the base level statutory in note 145837.1. Is this a correct assumption? Thanks!

Your assumption is correct. However, you still need to refer to Doc 145837.1 in case you need to apply the latest HRMS Legislative patches if you have HR/Payroll implemented and installed.
    Thanks,
    Hussein

  • I need clarification on Family upgrade question. Sorry

Okay, I understand there will not be Transfers from family share plans during preorder, and that you can do it after the iPhone arrives.
My question is---If you do change lines after you have received the phone, does this effect the warranty and insurance options? I have read several posts that says they will be void, and several that state that as long as it is within the same account, it will not.
Anyone know for sure? I would hate to have a brand new phone that has a factory defect, and could not do nothing about it.

Well I found the legal mumbo jumbo solution,
    IX. OTHER CONDITIONS:
    A. This Warranty or Service Contract is extended to the original subscriber buyer only and may not be assigned or transferred to subsequent subscriber buyers. This is Verizon Wireless’ complete Warranty or Service Contract for your Product. Verizon Wireless assumes no obligation or liability for additions or modifications to this Warranty or Service Contract unless made in writing and signed by an officer of Verizon Wireless. If this document is a Warranty, Verizon Wireless does not warrant the installation, maintenance or service of the equipment, accessories, batteries or parts.
So know I have to figure if this applies to Family Share lines.  As far as I am concerned, I pay for all the lines and phones, so I am the only Subscriber buyer.  I am going to call a CSR to find out.

  • Need Clarification On Unicode and Upgrade-ECC6.0

    Dear All,
I need some clarification unicode and upgrade . It would be great help if you give your time .
We had 2 code pages - 1100,1401 in 4.6B system. We had languages - FR,EN,ES,PT and PL. The system has been upgraded to ECC6.0 non-unicode now.
Now in I18N->System configuration (RSCPINST), only EN is listed. SPUMG asked for activation of I18N to proceed. When the I18N activation was done,  it has knocked out the code page 1401 from TCPDB table.
    Is this normal?
But, the code pages 1401 is shown as consistent in SCP transaction.
The system setting has changed to Single code page. Will this affect unicode migration? How did the additonal code page 1401 which was in 4.6B get knocked out
now? How did the languages ES,FR,PT, IT and PL which were in 4.6B get knocked out of RCPINST?
We are manually filling the vocabulary since SPUMG is not showing Scanning tabs. The language key in vocabulary is not completely set. The reprocess logs are not completely green. Will this allow unicode migration now? Can we start unicode migration even with this status.

    Hi Santosh,
SAP ECC 6.0 is not supported with MDMP. This is the reason for the behaviour in RSCPINST.
The standard way for an upgrade based on start release 4.6B with MDMP would be TU&UC (see SAP note 959698).
Do you follow this procedure ?

  • Can you upgrade from 1.3.0.20 small ovf to 2.1 without migrating to a new server? It sounds like you can just adjust the server settings now.

Can you upgrade from 1.3.0.20 small ovf to 2.1 without migrating to a new server? It sounds like you can just adjust the server settings now. I am currently running 1.3.0.20 and I have enough to do with also needing to upgrade my wlc to 7.4.121.0 and getting the MSE up to 7.4.121.0 without having to stand up a new server if I don't have to. Please share any information you have in regards to your experience with coming from a version 1.2-1.3 small ovf and going to 2.1.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

You are better off standing up a new server.  It's cleaner and safer..... you can always try to upgrade if you wish, but if things don't work out well, then you just wasted a lot of time.  Snapshot the VM and export the floor plans, just in case.  The ova is built around the DB size, so I don't know how well the DB will perform if you try to expand memory or drive space after an upgrade.

  • MSE haskey mismatch

just noticed this one the other day, neither of our mobility engines are syncing with the WLCs.
    Our setup is:
    PI 2.1
    all WLCs are 7.4.121.0
    MSE3355 - was 7.5.102.101
    vMSE - was 7.5.102.101
all was fine. We upgraded both MSEs v7.6.120.0, due to the deferral notice for 7.5.102.101. Ever since, nothing will sync. All we get is NMSP status is inactive for both MSEs to all WLCs. The message is hashkey mismatch between MSE and WLC. I have tried numerous things to no avail, like deleting the key from the WLCs. When I try to re-sync, I do see the key gets pushed from the MSE to the WLC. But in the MSE logs I do see certificate unknown errors when trying to sync. I do have a case open on this.
It really seems like it resulted from the MSE upgrade, but I didn't see anything in the release notes that caused any concern.
Has anyone seen this symptom at all? Would it really be as simple as finding and deleting the key store? Any comments are appreciated.
    Thanks - chris

    HI scott, Thanks for replying.
The hash key seems to be already defined as per below, once i added MSE it seemed to auto generate with the WLC. i have attached the screenshot error on nmsp status.

  • BW Upgrade Issues

    Hi Gurus,
I need some clarification about BW upgrade to 2004s. My questions are as follows:-
    1. We have to upload all the deltas from R/3 to BW. Do we have to do any other thing or just run the delta load infopackages? How to delete the entire Queue via ‘Delete Queue’ function.
2.How to suspend V3 collection process. I guess via LBWE (Job Control) but what is the process? Also how can we check the existing configuration ( V3 collective job run schedule) so that we revert back to the same.
    3. Can we suspend the V3 collective run for Direct Delta method?
    Please help.
    Warm Regards,
    Anil

    Anil,
Here are the answers to your questions.
    1. We have to upload all the deltas from R/3 to BW. Do we have to do any other thing or just run the delta load infopackages? How to delete the entire Queue via ‘Delete Queue’ function.
When you do the upgrade, it is mandatory that the delta queues are empty. They do not need to be physically deleted, but it is just that the queue must be empty. Because the associated structure, program, etc. would have undergone changes in the new version and if they are to be adjusted, then the new strcuture will not conform to the old data. To accomplish this, just run the info-packages in BW two times. The first time, BW will extract the records from the detal queue and the second time it will extract zero records. The execution of second time is important because the delta queue retains the extracted records for the repeat delta purposes. So when you execute the info package for the second time and the extract returns zero records, then the delta queue is empty.
2.How to suspend V3 collection process. I guess via LBWE (Job Control) but what is the process? Also how can we check the existing configuration ( V3 collective job run schedule) so that we revert back to the same.
From SM37 you can identify the V3 collector jobs on R/3. Find out what the naming convention is on your installation. On ours, we have V3 jobs for our SD loads named as BW-LIS****11, BW-LIS****13, etc. So, identify these jobs and stop them. After the upgrade is complete, you can release them back on.
    3. Can we suspend the V3 collective run for Direct Delta method?
This, I am not sure. As far as I know, you don't need to worry about the direct delta ones.
As a side note, there is a SAP supplied check list that SAP provides and it is available on service marketplace that goes over the entire list of things that you need to check and accomplish before doing the upgrade like keeping the delta queue empty, activating all the ODS data before upgrade, etc.

  • Upgrading RAM on MacBook Pro (October 2008)

i have 2gb of ram currently.
i was wondering whether i could buy 2 4gb sticks of ram
will the laptop recognize 8gb of ram
i have read that it only recognizes 3gb
    i need to know
    thanks

Just for clarification, you can upgrade the early 2009 models of the 15" Macbook Pro to 8GB of RAM. As long as you have the 2.66 or 2.93 version (or any subsequent model) then the same 8GB upgrade kit sold for the 17" Unibody will work (I'm typing this now on a 2.66GHz 15" with 8GB installed). Whether or not this configuration is officially supported as of the time of this writing is unknown but there is no technical limitation to prevent it from being done, unlike the earlier models (2.4, 2.53, 2.8) which do not support anything over 4GB (the OS may see it but it won't run reliably).

  • Azure SQL server v12 upgrade remaining time.

I'm upgrading SQL server to v12 to be able to utilize S3 performance level. Upgrade is running for 28 hours and still not completed. Actually, info in the portal said that it takes up to 24 hours.
Is there any way to determine how much time is needed to complete an upgrade and/or speed up the process? I'm in pretty urgent need of scaling up, but it's locked while server is upgraded.

    Hi Ashley,
Just for clarification, you are upgrading a database (logical server) in Azure from V11 to V12?
How long the upgrade takes is depending on the size of your database(s). The larger the database the longer it will take. If it seems the operation is stuck you should file a support ticked through the portal to have the issue being investigated.

  • Guest Unable to connect after WLC upgrade

Just upgrade software on my WLC5508 from 7.0.98.218 to 7.3.112.0 via GUI interface.
The upgrade was successfully,I can login to WLC.The other 2 WLC also upgraded to the same version and works.
The only issue, for Guest Vlan user didt get IP address and web login page.
Then we decide to revert to old image and working normally
Do you have any suggestion how to troubleshoot it?

I seemed to stumble across a lot of bugs in 7.3 and 7.4 - your symptoms are similar to one I found.
Have a look at CSCua39580 - WebAuth Fails post upgrade to 7.2.110.0
If you have an anchor controller (it's not clear from your post) then the work around is run the main 5508 on 7.3 and the anchor on 7.2.
After working for many weeks with Cisco, they finally released an enginneering version of 7.3 on, or about, 22-Feb-2013.
Try searching for "Addendum Release Notes for Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers and Lightweight Access Points for Special Build 7.3.103.10"
I never did try this version as it would have required a costly MSE upgrade and I'd lost my Mojo for all things wireless by that point.
