Clarification of Template Builder Versioning for Application Users (EBS)

I hope this posts finds you all well.... it is Friday after all :)
A question on versioning (naming convention is fine).
I'm using Oracle XML Publisher in E-Business Suite R12 which has a base install of XML Publisher 5.6.3.
But as Tim notes in his Naming and Versioning post ([http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=451]):
+"The latest BIP Enterprise release is 10.1.3.2 think of this as 5.6.3"+
So getting to the point of the question (eventually). If I want to create or modify Templates for E-Business Suite R12 and maintain the latest functionailty do I need to use the BI Publisher Desktop 10.1.3.2.1 for Microsoft Windows?

Actually,
the latest desktop version have some interface for few extra features, but the basic rtf functionality will work the same.
Crosstab or Pivot is the one , that has been changed totally in Latest. which uses some server side coding. so this wont work in the ebiz, unless you have the latest Bi codeline and libraries
other than that, latest is same as the old, with extra features,..
so almost all should work in 5.6.3 in ebiz also..
let me know, which particular feature you are using in template from latest BIP version
concluding, if you are editing , the old template, for adding or removing, or formatting, there should not be any problem :)

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to know which SharePoint build version should be applied to Windows Server 2012 and where to get cumulative update.
If you want to use SharePoint in Windows Server 2012, you can use the RTM version 15.0.4420.1017.

Oracle does not know the difference between an "application user" and a "database user".
Oracle deals with a session. This session services a client. The client can be a J2EE application. It can be a Delphi client. It can be a SQL*Plus command line tool. It can be TOAD. Etc.
Oracle does not care who/what/where the client is when dealing with cursors and SQL. It deals with the session that services that client.
How many cursors does a session have opened?
Refer to V$OPEN_CUSOR in [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2008.htm#sthref3807]Oracle® Database Reference.
A select count on V$OPEN_CURSOR for a specific SID (Session ID) will return the number of open cursor handles in that session.

XML publisher(template builder menu for rtf)

i am trying to do XML publisher report...
To develop Rtf template by using Microsoft word.i need one menu name called Template Builder over microsoft word .
i think to get this menu we have to apply some software or patch over the machine which we r using for rtf development .
anybody can give me the software name and also where i can get this ...

Where can I download the BI Publisher Word Template builder plugin for MS?

After configuring the my v3 with BI Publisher I'd like to start with creating the RTF templates. I viewed the demo but cannot find the link to actually download the plugin for MS Word.

Once you Login to Bi Publisher , just click on any of the folder , the Template Builder download is in Folder and Report Tasks , Its the Last Link.

What is forms builder version for R12 ? prob. for 6i forms ?

hi..guys..
Currently we have oracle apps..11.5.10-----> forms version 6i
Now, we are upgrading apps to R12...so all the custom forms which are in 6i needs to be migrated to forms 10g so they can be compatible with oracle EBS release 12.
So, I am opening forms which were created using 6i in form builder 10g. Then getting connected with the database created for R12...so it takes R12 library references...so at this time forms builder 10g is crashing......
I am using FORMS 32 BIT VERSION 9.0.4.0.19 (PRODUCTION)..Oracle Developer Suite 10g...to modify and compile 6i forms...so I can put them on R12 instance...
Problem is everytime I try to compile 6i form after opening it in 10g forms builder, it crashes ....so what is the best way to compile 6i forms to make them compatible with R12 ....?

Does this happen to all forms or certain ones only?
You need to open the forms in Form Builder 10g (Oracle Developer Suite 10g (10.1.2.0.2)), compile it, save it then upload it back to the server.

'Design Patterns' for Application User Interfaces

I'm currently trying to unstick an architectural mess centred around a relatively simple user interface. The problem is thus:
The application has a number of toolbar buttons and menus, some of which require a specific frame or class of frame to be enabled. Some conditions are quite simple, others more complicated.
(Without going into any more detail, it should be possible to appreciate that this is a fairly common problem.)
For this application, I've created a large listener that accepts events from all over the program, converting them into state changes for UI controls. It feels messy, and (although it isn't finished) I suspect it'll be rather fragile.
JBuilder 4 does it by constant querying of application state - but this results in excessive CPU usage and apparant lag.
TogetherJ does it for menus by checking state immediately before showing the menu. This seemed like a good plan, but it's unsuitable for the Action/Button/MenuItem lashup I like to use.
My question is this:
In your opinion, how should an application be structured to reliably maintain the correct UI state at all times?

Check out the mediator pattern. It is pretty close to what you are describing, maybe the details you dig up on it will give you some new ideas?

Query Builder access for end users

Which adf runtime library version for application server version

After sifting thru this forum and some documentation, I was left a little confused about installing ADF Runtime libraries to the application server we're deploying our ADF applications to. I wanted to get a definitive answer to a couple questions:
1) We're using Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.2.0. We've been deploying our 10.1.3.3 ADF applications to this application server. If we migrate our 10.1.3.3 ADF application to 10.1.3.4, do we need to install the ADF Runtime libraries (from jdev 10.1.3.4) to the application server before deploying/running our 10.1.3.4 version of the application on that server? If yes, do we need to uninstall the 'old' ADF Runtime libraries first?
2) How can we tell what jars make up the ADF Runtime libraries?

You always need to have a version match between the ADF libraries on your server and the ADF libraries you develop with.
So if you are developing with JDev 10.1.3.4 you need to install the ADF 10.1.3.4 libraries on your server.
You can do this with the ADF Runtime installer or directly from within JDeveloper's tools menu.
You don't need to uninstall the ADF libraries - they'll be overwritten.

Hello??? Android??? Why is'nt there a version for Android users. After all Samsung and Wacom are the only two companies making tablets for artist...

Apple left artist behind years ago. Why are these new mobile apps only available in ios? I use a much more sophisticated tablet than your dad's iPad. My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 has over 1,000 points of pressure sensitivity and was built with Wacom technology for artist, yet the premiere artist programs only release these mobile apps in the apple app format???
Even the Adobe evangelist use windows based operating systems in 90% of the videos I watch on;line, so why are we still pretending Apple is the only platform that matters, while leaving many serious artist out in the cold? Get these apps on the Google Play store ASAP, please.

I agree! My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) is amazing! The Wacom technology that been built into it is amazing. I saddens mute than words can say when Adobe took all their touch apps out of the Play Store and stopped working on the android versions. I must say the other I went to take a photo with an iPad and I saw so disappointed that all is did was snap a photo. I guess I'm spoiled with all the amazing things my galaxy can do while in the built in standard photography mode. You IOS people are really missing out on a great thing here! Just go and try to play with one either in the air or with a friend's tablet. I guarantee you will be blown away!

Plan version locked for certain users

Customizing: Controlling / general controlling / organizaion / maintain versions:
Choose the version you want to work with, tick "controlling area settings" and in the rigth screen, scroll to the right until you view the field "AUGR".
Read F1-help for this field and contact the authorization responsible to go on with that.

Activity report for end-user ?

One of my customers wish to get information about the use of it´s application. He is not the adminsitrator of the workspace.
As an administrator of the workspace you can run reports about activity for applications/users.
I would like to build it as a part of the application of my customer.
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
Any reaction will be appreciated.

Header & Footer issues with Template Builder 5.6 ???

Is anyone else having problems with headers and footers in Template Builder version 5.6? I am able to add headers and footers, but they don't display in the preview in Word and they also only display on odd pages when ran thru the concurrent request manager (I checked my Word page setup settings and I don't have the deifferent odd/even pages selected.) I am able to resolve my problem by installing v 5.5 on another machine and saving it in that version.

We use headers and footers in every template. This worked in both 4.5 and 5.6.2.

Moving to new version of Application INsight on Azure

Hi,
I am planning to move to new version of Azure version for Application Insight for my Windows store app. After updating my nuget packages, when I run my app I see a icon that the it is tracked under application insight. However when I navigate to Application
Insight portal in Azure, I do not see any of the tracked data.
In the earlier version of visual studio online I could see the data that was tracked under application insight. However it now navigates to the new version.

Could you please check that instrumentation key that you use match Application Insights recourse in the portal.
You could check diagnostics search in the portal and see if there are any errors reported.
If you are running under F5 you can also check VS output window; it may also display errors there.
You could also put fiddler on the box and see if data leaves the box.

Application users changing passwords

Is there a simple way for application users to change their passwords? I can see that the owner of the application can do it but it makes more sense for the individual users to maintain their own passwords.

this depends a lot on your user management.
In the sample application a custom authentication scheme is implemented where the users and their respective passwords are stored in a custom table (demo_users).
From there on you can easily have the users manage their own passwords.
