Clarification on 802.1x support for 3560

Hi all: have a question on support of 802.1x support in 3560.
This (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps5528/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00801e85c4.html) one talks about 802.1x configuration on a 3560 with 12.1(19)EA1
But this tool http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/CFN/jsp/index.jsp tells me that IEEE 802.1x-VLAN Assignment is supported only on ED Releases 12.2(25)SEE1, 12.2(25)SED1, 12.2(25)SEC2, 12.2(25)SEB4, 12.2(25)SEA, 12.2(25)SE for 3560.
Does this mean Cisco is recommending using 12.2.(25) for 802.1x for these switches eventhough 12.1(19) supports it?
Thanks
Ravi

Only the following 3560 are supported in 12.1.19EA1:
Catalyst 3560-24PS
Catalyst 3560-48PS
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat3560/12119ea1/ol510401.htm#84866
The rest of 3560 have different minimum IOS requirements:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat3750/125see1/ol9586.htm#wp84866
So, wht I am trying to say is, the feature, 802.1x-Vlan Assignment is supported in 12.1(19)EA1 but depending on what kind of 3560, it will require a minimum IOS. If your 3560 is either Catalyst 3560-24PS or Catalyst 3560-48PS, you can run 802.1x-Vlan Assignment on it.

  • 802.1x support for windows 98

    Hi,
Just want to know if there is an offical service pack from microsoft supports 802.1x for Windows 98 ? Is there other 802.1x client software that supports windows 98 client ?

I've heard of it, but AFAIK this is based on partnership level with MSFT. It effectively doesn't exist. Funk, and Meetinghouse both support 802.1x supplicants for Windows '98 though, so this is an alternative.
    Hope this helps.

    thanks.

The new square 802.11b/g/n AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) apparently does NOT support POE (Power over Ethernet).

  • Why no support for 3560 Compact series in CNA?

Is there reason why WS-C3560C-8PC-S and WS-C3560C-12PC-S is not supported in Cisco Network Assistent?
According to the data sheets for these switches CNA should be supported. I saw another forum post stating that the Gigabit versions has been added to the supported list as of version 5.7.
"The Cisco Catalyst 3560-C and 2960-C Series compact switches offer both the traditional Cisco CLI for detailed configuration and Cisco Network Assistant software, a PC-based tool for quick configuration based on preset templates."
    Best regards
    Markus

Please reference the Release Notes for 5.7. They indicate:
With Network Assistant 5.7, you can:
    •Manage these devices:
    –Catalyst 3560-C switches (WS-C3560CG-8PC-S,WS-C3560CG-8TC-S, and WS-C3560CPD-8PT-S)
Hard to say why the 12-port model isn't listed. It could be an oversight in the release notes. Have you pointed a CNA 5.7 at one to check?

  • IEEE 802.11n support for WRVS4400N

Will there be an update to WRVS4400N now that the standard has been finalized?

I think there will be some updates about this but I guess this will be relayed by Cisco. I suggest contacting Cisco Tech support to further look into your concern. I believe this unit belongs to the business series devices that Cisco is now supporting. Try to go to this link for the other business series devices and the site where you can get hold of Cisco for support:

  • New Airport Extreme (802.11ac) Support for Encrypted USB Disk

The old Time Capsule and Airport Extreme apparently did not support a filevault2 encrypted USB disk for storing files like an NAS (not talking about a time machine backup).  Does anyone know whether the newly released Airport or Time Capsule now supports the encrypted disk?

I do not think that USB encrypted disks are supported...and would be surprised if they were....but will know for sure late tomorrow.
Will update at that time if no one else has answered before that time.
The fact that Apple still has a USB 2.0 port on the new AirPort products might be a clue as well.

Anyone know if Apple can/will offer an "n" Airport card for the G5...
Apple has made no such announcement and you know from reading the "Help & Terms of Use" for this area that speculation on future Apple plans or products is forbidden in this discussion area.

  • 802.11a network not supported for this Country Code

Hi, I get the following error whne enabling 802.11a network on a AIR-WLC2106-K9. Country is set to ID (Indonesia)
    >config 802.11a enable network
802.11a network not supported for this Country Code
Yet, on a AIR-CT2504-K9, set to same country code there is no problem.
Is this a WLC model or version issue? WLC2106 is on version 6.0.199.4 while the CT2504 is 7.0.220.0
    Andrew

Well is it the only country code selected? Also you might as well upgrade the 2106 to 7.0.x and move off the 6.0.x. Since your 2604 is at that code you might as well upgrade the 2106 and see. I'm guessing that you have the same APs and the APs are for that country.

  • Airpcap and WireShark support for 802.11k, 802.11r, 802.11u?

    Folks,
    I have a need to troubleshoot/test 802.11k, 802.11u, and 802.11r messaging.
Does anyone know if AirPcap Nx + Wireshark will capture and properly decode these 802.11 amendments:
    802.11k
    802.11r
    802.11u
I have looked in Wireshark forums and seen references to all of the above amendments but I can't find anything conclusive to indicate the level of support for these headers/fields/messages.
    Thanks for any insight.
    Joey

    George,
I don't know yet. However, to begin testing devices I'll need a tool that can decode the protocols so I can see who supports what.
Based on my research for evidence sake,
Wireshark 1.7.0 dev branch appears to:
    Support 802.11u fully
    Support 802.11r fully
    Support 802.11k partially
The 802.11k information elements I can't find or are not supported for 802.11k are:
    7.3.2.42 Measurement Pilot Transmission Information
    7.3.2.43 BSS Available Admission Capacity
7.3.2.44 BSS AC Access Delay supported
    7.3.2.45 RRM Enabled Capabilities
    7.3.2.46 Multiple BSSID

  • Cad ver 8 NIC test for 802.1q support

    Hi Pros,
UCCX SRND ver 8 mentions that "appendix C on Cisco CAD Installation Guide" describes a way to test whether a computer NIC supports 802.1q for monitoring and recording services.
Couldnt find appendix C on the guide
Anyone knows about where I can find this info or way to test the 802.1q support?
    Regards,
    Pratik

    Hi Pratik,
IP Communicator (in SCCP) is indeed supported as one of the monitoring devices, this is listed in the Hardware/Software compatiblity matrix for UCCX. (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf)
As your CIPC will be installed on the same PC as the CAD, the RTP packets will be received on this PC and CAD will be able to access them.

  • Cisco Prime LMS 4.1 - Support for Cisco Catalyst 3560-C Series Switches

    Hello together
I have a customer which uses the following switch. Last year I have installed LMS 4.1 for him to manage the switches. Unfortunatly the switch model is not supported. According to the information found on the following site the switch is supported for most of the modules in LMS:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/net_mgmt/ciscoworks_lan_management_solution/4.1/device_support/table/lms41sdt.html
The oid object of the device is the following: 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1465
Supported Software: 12.2(55)EX (Customer has 12.2(55)EX3
    Version Support Type: Device Update
So I updated all device updates I was able to find.
Step 1: For that I went to Admin > System > Software Center > Schedule Device Downloads and created a job where I have downloaded the latest versions of all packages.
Step 2: Installed the downloaded packages Admin > System > Software Center > Device Update and installed all the packages.
Unfortunatly I don't see the same result like described in the Supported Device Table for LMS 4.1.
    - Cisco View -> works
    - Inventory and Config Collection -> works
    - Fault Monitor not working -> Error Code Unsupported
    - Network Topology Layer 2 Services -> Device Type ciscoProducts.1465, Symbol Question Mark
    - VLAN Management -> Doesn't work
    - User Tracking > seems also not to work
When I open the report for supported devcies (Reports > System > Device Support) and search for C3560C... I find the following devices, but not mine which i need:
    C3560C-8PC-S     .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1466
    C3560CG8PC         .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1317
    C3560CCG8TC     .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1318
    wsC3560CPD8ptS     .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.1.1368
Does anybody have experience with the same switch type / model? Am I doing something wrong or is this type of switch not implemented correctly till now? Further the docuemntation supported devices would be wrong.
    Thanks for any feedback Erich

Thanks but I just heard back from my Cisco SE and he assures me that an AP will NOT use up a license.
I've asked him to verify his answer for me.
Is your answer based on real world expereince (the best there is)?  That is, are you running Prime LMS 4.1 and does it indeed use up a license for each light-weight AP it discovers & manages?
Thanks for mentioning options 1-3 but I do not wish to employ any of them.  I don't mind buying the additional licenses for APs ... I just need to know if I have to or not.
    Ian.

  • Mitel phone 802.1x with Cat 3560 and Cisco ACS5.2 problem

I am piloting an 802.1x implementation for a client who has Mitel IP Phones.  I have setup the switch and ACS based on previous experience and a windows PC can authenticate onto the network OK.  When I use a Mitel phone however, it seems to skip past the first 802.1x LCD message and goes straight to LLDP and DHCP discovery, which obviously fails.  The phone are 5224s and the controller is on the original v10 release.  I have cleared the 802.1x config on the phone and rebooting as per Mitel documentation which leads me to believe it should then prompt for a user/pass on next reboot.  It does not do this.
I known the ACS is setup to support EAP-MD5 and I have tried all the various types of host modes including the default and Multi-Auth, Multi-Domain and none of them seem to make any difference.  I have tried with and without a PC attached to the phone as well.
A wireshark shows the EAP identity request from the switch, and I see an EAP response from the phone, although it is slightly different to the PC's response.  In the end the phone issues an EAP 4 failure message.  So something in that EAP conversation doesnt seem to work.  Does anybody have an experience of this?

A wireshark capture shows a difference in the EAP request message from a Cisco Cat 3560 (12.2.55) to the Mitel, compared to a HP Procurve to the Mitel which the Mitel responds to:

  • 11.1.2 support for Mac OS?

The 11.1.2 certification matrix for JDev can be found here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/jdev11gr2-cert-405181.html
Under the operating system category for the Mac OS the supported version is "Apple Mac OS X 10.6-". Note the dash at the end.
The 11.1.2 installation guide can be found here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E16162_01/install.1112/e17074/ojdig.htm#BDCFFEJC
Under section 1 for the Mac OS it says the supported version is "For Apple Mac OS X Version 10.6 or later".
    Questions:
    a) Which one is right?
    b) If the certification matrix is correct, what's the dash at the end mean? Versions prior to 10.6? Does that rule out 10.6.8?
    c) If the installation guide is correct, is Lion supported?
    Thanks,
    CM.

Ah the footnote explains it. When I copied the text across to post in this forum, the dash turned into a space, and I typed it back in to be consistent, but I didn't understand why I needed to do this. Now I think in the 11.1.2 certification matrix the dash is in fact the left over underscore for the superscript footnote from the previous notes, probably just copied and pasted in by accident.
With regards to 10.7, in seeking clarification on the support can you also determine if 10.7 Lion support is planned please, and what Oracle's future JDev support for this platform are. It'll matter to a number of us ACEDs are we're running JDev on MacBook Pros. Obviously we can go with VMs, but the preferred platform is native on Mac OS.
    Thanks for your assistance,
    CM.

  • Flash player support for video playback in Lumia 8...

When will  Nokia/MS support Adobe Flash player for Lumia 800 like they have for Android?
Also I should be able to download a browser of my choice on Lumia as well. Any clarifications from Nokia most welcome!

Adobe has announced that it has ceased development of Flash for mobile phones (in favour of HTML5, and due to the opposition of both Apple and Microsoft to allow support of Flash for their mobile operating systems), so from that direction neither Microsoft nor Nokia is going to get any help.
If the Adobe Flash Video format specification is publicly available to use or to license (I don't know if it is), then at least Microsoft could implement support for it, if they wanted to (Nokia might not have sufficient rights from Microsoft to add new codecs to Windows Phone).
So, you might direct your question primarily to Microsoft, rather than Nokia (of course, a Microsoft representative will probably read this, too, but whether they'll response or not is another matter).
