Clarification on Bootcamp 3.1 install for Windows 7 Support

Hello all,
I'm looking for some expert opinon on how the BootCamp 3.1 update is supposed to be performed.
As some 3rd party websites state that these updates need to be applied prior to the Windows 7 install. While Apple's online documentation talks about installing 7 and then doing the update.
The reason why I think that apple's process is more accurate is because the 64-Bit driver download is an ".exe" extension. However before I do anything with my MacBook Pro I wanted to find out what others are doing for this OS install process.
If you could clarify the process it would be appreicated as the Software Update feature in Mac OS X doesn't seem to find any updates related to BootCamp.
Thanks in advance

So what you are saying is that even though the bootcamp utility exists and has already allocated my spot for Windows 7 on Snow Leopard Boot camp doesn't exist thus I can't get the 3.1 update yet?
I'm very familiar with computing terms, and setting up devices... However no documentation really clarifies the whole 3.1 process. All that I can see from apple's perspective is to allocate the bootcamp space. Run the windows 7 install, and then use the snow leopard update and the assoicated drivers (32/64 bit).
However even with the Mac OS X online, I can't figure out how you get that update as each site talks differently.
If someone can clarify exactly from an out of box Mac, to snow leopard boot camp allocation and windows 7 install for these 3.1 updates it would greatly help with my confusion points here.
Thanks!

  • BootCamp will not install in Windows Vista

I installed Windows Vista on my MBP 17" OSX (10.6.4) with no problems. The problem is now when I go to the Vista side, and try to install BootCamp drivers, I get a message saying "Boot Camp x64 is unsupported on this computer model". Does any one know what is wrong? Does my Vista need updating? Thanks for any help.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Windows 8 also works, but only with compatible Macs > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US Note that you can also install Windows 8 in non-supported Macs by Apple, but you will not be able to install the Windows support software.
As you have got Mac OS X Snow Leopard and after checking that your Mac supports Windows 8, you need to download the Windows support software from this website > http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1638

I am assumeing that is the information that has the Drivers and what not that allow me o properly use my Mac with windows. If anyone can help me locate this inforamtion i would be greatly.... Greatfull.
P.S. The bootcamp assistant is telling me that the Windows Support Sofware canot be found.

  • Bootcamp 3.1 update for Windows XP pro 32bit

    Hi peoples.
I got my imac 24" from late 2008.
I've installed windows xp pro 32bit in bootcamp.
i got bootcamp 3.0 from the snow leopard 10.6 DVD.
Apple software update has an upgrade for bootcamp to version 3.1
After installing the update to 3.1, my screen is switching down to 640x480 4bit.
so i thought maybe i had installed something that messed up the updating.
i booted into osx, deleted the bootcamp partition via the bootcamp wizard, then recreate the bootcamp partition.
i installed a fresh install of windows xp pro 32bit, installed bootcamp 3.0 from the snow leopard DVD.
i update my windows via windowsupdate, and then i install bootcamp upgrade 3.1 via apple software update.
    and again i get a 640x480 4bit resolution.
my imac has ATI mobility radeon hd 26000 XT...
why do bootcamp 3.1 update break my graphics driver ?
is it something i do? (i doubt it)
is there a walkaround, to avoid my graphics driver getting corrupted by the update ?

  • HP F4580 on Imac in windows 7 bootcamp, won't install "no usb support" works OK on Mac side

Trying to install my HP F4580 so I can print from the Windows partition on my iMac,. Downloaded and ran the drvier utility but it fails saying "this PC has no USB support". Whereas the printer works fine on the Mac side of the partition.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Although installing the printer on Windows by using Bootcamp may work, it is not guaranteed...
The windows OS actually being installed as a virtual envoirnment, which means your Windows OS is using your Mac OS USB drivers as the host, and not those intended for Windows.
Therefore it is not being recognized by the software.

  • IPrint client 5.92 Hangs on install for Windows 8.1

We are trying to implement windows 8.1 into our tablet environment. while setting up printing to the client devices i'm running into deployment issues with the iPrint client 5.90 and 5.92, both seem to hang on the spooler update portion of the install, and are unable to recover. I have had one finish with an error stating that the spooler service did not respond in a timely manner to the startup command. however even after manually starting the spooler service the client was not installed. Any Help or hints would be most appreciated.

Those server-side fixes for OES11 SP1 to support Windows 8.1 (and

Note iPrint Client for Windows 5.94[2] and for Mac 5.74[3] are now

  • ITunes 11.1.3 download fails to install for Windows XP

Currently have iTunes 11.1.2.32 installed on a Windows XP SP3 PC. Control Panel lists version as 11.1.1.?. After downloading 11.1.3 install fails because "older version can't be removed". Uninstall of older version from Control Panel also fails.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Use a partition on external drive for windows support software

    Hello
I am trying to install Windows 7 on my MacBook AIR  13" 8GB.  I have an external drive that i created a partition for the Windows Support software but when I choose to proceed in Boot Camp Assistant to download the windows support software it says the entire drive has to be one partition formatted to MS DOS.
Any way around this..I have the Windows disc and would like to avoid having to buy another 8 GB or greater size external disc drive

I do not want to install Windows on the external drive.
An external drive is needed to download the windows support software as stated in Boot Camp.  It seems I cannot use a partition on the external drive to download the support software.. Wondering if there is a work around this..
