Clarification on Work Book

Hi All,
Can we have multiple queries in one work book? For example, in the report output, one column comes from one query and other comes from other query.

Hi,
as far as I remember it is possible to have several queries in one workbook with the current release. But that means an area / worksheet with one query and another with another query. You will not mix the columns from the different queries, you have not one result table with key column and then column A is filled from query A and column B is filled from query B.
If you need this you will probably have to define a new query including both information. If there is no such infoprovider containing both information yet, to build a query on you will have to build one.

Hi All,
        I have to install six cubes related to BW Statistics.I know how to implement these cubes.My query is before installing the cubes i have to in stall work books related to these cubes.
When i checked in Business content there are three workbooks are available
                     1. BW Statistics 2.0(New)
                     2. BW Statistics 1.2 etc....
Please let me know which one i need to install?

I need some clarification this.When i have checked for the new one 2.0 there are some queries available for this work book.I need to install all the quries or we need some of them only.Let me know for BW Statatistics which queries are to be installed for this work book.

Work book taking longer time to open

Hi,
We created a workbook and embedded one input ready query in it. The query when executed separately takes 1 minute to load. But when the work book is opened for the same selections, it takes 3-5 mins.
There is no Macros written in the workbook and no functions are called while loading work book.
What might be the reason for this. Is there any way by which we can improve the performance?
Please suggest.

Hi there,
Open BEx Analyzer.
Click on global settings (before opening the workbook) and mark the option "Repair workbook while running" (option available since BEx Analyzer support package 5 and above)
Now open the workbook (it will still take the 3-5 minutes).
Now save the workbook
Remove the option you have just marked before ("Repair workbook while running").
Close BEx Analyzer and test it again.

The work book does not exist in the document store

Hi Forum,
Has anyone come accross this error "The work book does not exist in the document store" I just changed the description of my Work book in Development and saved. Now it wont open. The error message is "The work book does not exist in the document store". I already have this work book in Q. So I cannot create another one with a different tech. name. Someone please help

Youcan no longer display a workbook. You receive an error message when opening: <Internal error>: 1201 document storage
Cause and prerequisites
In very rare cases, when you store a workbook, you might not be able to open it again.
Solution
Function module BDS_PHIOS_GET_RIGHT has to be changed so that the last available version of the Workbooks can be displayed.

Saving a query in Work book

BW Work Book as an iView in Portal

We are on BW 3.5 and EP 6.0, using BEx Application Designer i am abel to create work book which is based on a query, i can create an iview for EP6.0 in BW System.
But how can i see this work bok in SAP Enterprise Portal.
there are fre requisites i.e establishing sso between BW and SP, setting JCO connections some 13 steps i did all these.
how we can see an iView which creted in BW,display it in EP.
is there any steps?

How to display the Overall result value at the top of work book

How can i display the value of Overall result(Sum of the Total) column at the top of the work book in Text field.

Go to Query Global properties in Query designer and you can find a setting to show result rows on top. This setting will show overall result as first row in the report. But I don't think you can show it in Text field in WB.

Report designer is used in BI 7.It is a seperate application used for formatting
the report.

Example, daily report,Monhly and yearly reports for sales should be in the same workbook.

Hi James,
According to BI 7.0 Version
Steps of creating workbook and to insert more than one query in a workbook.
When you run a query and it opens in Bex Analyzer you can click the save button and pick "Save as Workbook".
Once you save it as a workbook Click on the "Design Mode" button in the Bex toolbar (looks like an A).
Click in the sheet where you want the new query to go, click the "Analysis Grid" button. It will add the analysis grid to your new sheet.
Right click on the Analysis grid and go to properties.
Click on button to change data provider and select the query you want to attach.
Exit design mode and you should be all set.

Code to get the all Records in Work Book

I have a Report to show on work book, Now I am used REFERENCE to get the data.
In Work book i have used formula for one cell and i draged that to few rows(for example 100).
Here my problem
If i get below 100 records there is no problem, if it exceds 100 i won't get the records.
some times I get in my result <b>REFF #</b>
to solve this problems any macro code or any other solution?
cause my report is dynamic report some times it give 1000 records some times 100, it should be automatically .
i know dragging the cell poor quality of coding.
any code which help my problem will be appreciated.

Hi Priya,
I do not understand the problem. Please show the formula you are using.
Does the REF# problem occur when you first put the formula in the cells, or only after the query is refreshed?
If the former, you have an Excel problem. If the latter, the problem is that BW will delete the old query result table before it inserts the new query result table, and the REF# means that the reference cells were deleted. In this case, the solution is simple and a simple macro will fix the problem for you.

Embedding 2 queries within the same tab in a work-book?

Is it possible to embedd multible queries within a single tab in a Workbook?i.e. can we define a cell range in which a particular query is to be embedded and a different cell range within the same tab for another query?

Hi,
It is very much possible.
Just insert the 2 queries at different places and save the work book.
In the properties you can so the the result of the 2 queries do not overwrite and ouput is adjusted accordingly.

I am wanting to exactly match two ID numbers from two differing worksheets within one work book. Once matched I am wanting to retrieve a row value from the second worksheet into the first. Any help much appreciated.

Once exactly matched I wish to retrieve a corresponding row value from worksheet two and have it appear in worksheet one against the correct ID number. I have been looking at IF, VLOOKUP, and MATCH functions and suspect that what I want to do requires a combination of two or more. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Data A:D is all cells start at column A thru column D.
There is built-in help using the menu item "View > Show Function Browser" in the search field (top right) you can enter vlookup and you will see the detailed description.
From this we see:
VLOOKUP
(search-for, columns-range, return-column, close-match)
search-for: The value to find. search-value can contain any value type.
columns-range: A range of cells. range is a reference to a single range of cells, which may contain values of any type.
return-column: A number that specifies the relative column number of the cell from which to return the value. return-column is a number value. The leftmost column in the range is column 1.
close-match: An optional value that determines whether an exact match is required.
close match (TRUE, 1, or omitted): If there’s no exact match, select the column with the largest top-row value that is less than the search value. Wildcards can’t be used in search-for.
exact match (FALSE or 0): If there’s no exact match, return an error. Wildcards can be used in search-for.
So... the 2,0 means return the value form the same row as the lookup value but from the 2nd column of the range. 3, 0 means from the 3rd column. the ", 0" means exact match
