Clarify regarding Delta

Could you please let me know the exact meaning and in what scenarios we go for
1. Direct Delta
2. queued delta
3. UnSerialized delta
Generally what we use and I dont understand what they ahve written in the material

Direct Delta: With this update mode, the extraction data is transferred with each document posting directly into the BW delta queue. In doing so, each document posting with delta extraction is posted for exactly one LUW in the respective BW delta queues.
Queued Delta: With this update mode, the extraction data is collected for the affected application instead of being collected in an extraction queue, and can be transferred as usual with the V3 update by means of an updating collective run into the BW delta queue. In doing so, up to 10000 delta extractions of documents for an LUW are compressed for each DataSource into the BW delta queue, depending on the application.
Non-serialized V3 Update:With this update mode, the extraction data for the application considered is written as before into the update tables with the help of a V3 update module. They are kept there as long as the data is selected through an updating collective run and are processed. However, in contrast to the current default settings (serialized V3 update), the data in the updating collective run are thereby read without regard to sequence from the update tables and are transferred to the BW delta queue.

Question regarding deltas and filling of setup tables

Hello Friends,
We are using the Sales Order Item Datasource 2LIS_11_VAITM. We have transported it to BI Production. We have initialized the delta and the deltas are running for the past 3-4 months.
Now we had a new requirement which was getting satisfied by the Sales Order Header and Sales Order Header Status DataSources, 2LIS_11_VAHDR & 2LIS_11_VASTH respectively.
Now we wan to transfer both these (header & header status) DataSources to BI Procution. My question is:
1) Do we have to refill the setup tables again in R/3 for the Sales (11) application?
2) Do we have to reload the entire Sales data again from scratch.
3) Is there any way to transport the 2 new DataSources to BI Production and without disturbing the already running deltas of Sales Order Item Datasource?

Yes you need to refill the setuptables, because if you want to load deltas, you need to do Init then deltas, other wise first time when you are filled setup tables, (first load init with the existing data in setuptables) from that day to till date you can do full then you can set delta.
It is better and good to fill setup tables and load.
2) Do we have to reload the entire Sales data again from scratch.
Any way you need down time to load the other 2 datasources, and also for 11 application you are filling setuptables.So for perfectness it is better to load from first.
3) Is there any way to transport the 2 new DataSources to BI Production and without disturbing the already running deltas of Sales Order Item Datasource?
If you transport the new datasources then delta won't distrub in BW. If you did any changes to DataSource and trying to transport it to production then it will give error, because LBWQ and RSA7 will have data so first you need to clear it and then transport it.

I have a problem in extraction and it is not solved almost one weeks. I have delta in Quotation (Business content). And now the extraction is getting error.
The error is conversion over-flow (this error happen in CRM user-exit not in BW). And i plan to fix the data in the CRM.
The problem is i don't know what transaction no is ??
I plan to know the data delta being fetched.. I mean in the delta just now, what's data BW is fetching .. ??
e.g. Just now, BW is fetching the data where created date at:
01 December 2007 until 25 January 2008.
But i don't know how to make it ??
Could you share your experience how to make it please .. ?? :).

Hi,
When your delta load fails, delete that particular request which is in red from your data target and repeat the delta load again.

Regarding Delta loads at multiple times

Hi,
We have one infopack which loads from same datasource into same Cube, but has included in two process chains which run at different times.
The first process chain failed, thus load from infopack also failed giving some hanging IDOc error. We did not do the repeat delta.
Next process chain ran successfully and pulled few deltas. My question is has all the delta's been pulled by this second process chain? Or do I need to delete the both these requests (from two process chains) and do the repeat delta manually?
Please note the first request is in red status and second request is in green status.

Thanks for replying. But are you sure that missing delta's too would have come? Becasue my understanding was that until we don't set the request to 'red' manually (even if its in red status), missing delta's wont come.
But in our case:
1. First load failed
2. We 'did not set' it to red manually
3. Second load was successful and pulled few records.
Now do u think that we don't have to do anything extra other than deleting the red request from the Cube?

I am working in BI 7.0 environment with 3.x dasources. I have a datasource 0RPM_FI_DATA, I loaded full load first and now i am trying to do init beofre going to delta. But i am not INIT or Delta option in Infopackage screen. then i had look in the rsa6, Delta update option is not enabled for that datasouce.
So, Can anybody explain to me how can i make this Datasource as Delta enabled.
How can i do delta loads. For every clue, points will be awardable.

Regarding Delta Record

Hi,
Is the delta record is capture for any field changes (Including KF, CHAR) for a particular sales/Delivery/Billing document or on changes of specific fields for sales/Delivery/Billing document.
If delta capture for specific fields change then where (Tables) these fields are maintained and how to find out this.

I meant a ZFIELD added in VBRP (billing docs items) for instance... If you use a standard SD exit to populate this field, the change will be captured by the delta mechanism just before the system COMMITS the transaction (this particular billing document change)...
Adding a ZFIELD in your extract structure will not suffice: suppose that you are adding a ZFIELD in your billing items extract structure; let's assume that your enhancement is populating this field with a simple lookup to VBRK (the header of a billing document).
In few words you want to capture a change in you billdoc head and extract it with your billitm DSource.
This won't work: if a user change the header of a billdoc, only 2LIS_13_VDHDR will capture a delta. 2LIS_13_VDITM won't get any delta record since no item has been changed... Note that enabling this feature would considerably "complexify" the extraction in oddition to bring way much more records... indeed a before image reversal and an after image of the record (before and after COMMIT) would have to be extracted in order to avoid double records in BW....
The above stuff should better be done in BW itself by staging your data with DSOs or even with modelling...

Doubts reg Delta

GM All,
I've seen several posts regarding delta's in the forum but coulnt get a clear picture..my doubt is:
With respect to V3:
1.Once initialization is done does delts gets into delta queue automatically or does we need to run an IP?
2.when we run an IP for delta does the data be fetched from delta queue i.e RSA7 in R/3?
3.Is there any queued delta which comesinto picture before deltaqueue(RSA7) if so what's the use?

When ever you done the initial Load then delta will enable automatically at BW side and also you can check at RSA7. then we can do delta loads

in LO Cockpit here delta methods are 3 types
1 Direct delta : delta records directly comes into RSA7.
2 serialized delta : delta records comes into SM13 and than thru V3 Job, records come into RSA7.
3 queued delta : Delta records comes into LBWQ than into RSA7 thru V3 Job
I think u may get an idea about your questions.

Delta with reversal into cube from LO extractors

Hi SDN,
In our LO extraction design we have write-optimized DSO used as EDW as the first layer in BI. Then data is sent to Business Content infocubes, such as 0PUR_C01 though we are using their copies and instead of Update Rules/Transfer Rules, we are using PSA, Transformation, Write Optimized DSO, another transformation and onto the cube. DS and all other objects in the data flow are BI 7.
What we are not clear about is the role or ROCANCEL when passed to both STORNO and RECORDMODE and its impact on the cube after the write-optimized DSO. Some key figures are reversed for 'R' but others are not.
We had thought that 2LIS_02_ITM via a Write Optimized DSO will pass on STORNO and RECORDMODE to the cube which should have reversed all key figures in the cube if the value is 'R'. But it is not happening. Whatever key figures were reversed in the source system, they remained reversed, others are still there and adding another row in the cube with some positive values.
Can anyone shed light on this or provide reference to documentation regarding delta processing in the cube, especially from LO extractors like 2LIS_02_ITM, etc.?

My question is more fundamental.
In 3.5 There was expected to be no DSO between Source system and the cube. How were the Update, add and delete handled then?
As I see it, write-optimized DSO is no hindrance because essentially the data is coming into the cube as if there was no DSO in the middle. I do not see SAP suggesting a DSO anywhere between the source and business content cubes, especially in our case dealting with 2LIS_02_ITM, SCL, etc. to handle delta.
Are you saying that no delta management is possible without inserting a DSO before the cube? Please realize that WO DSO only brings data request by request without any summation and overwrite confusion.
What I puzzled at is the lack of comprehensive unfied and detail information either in documentation or a blog.

I want to do delta on say order number based on timestamp.Also these orders can be changed later. So say order 1000 has been fetched yesterday, but its changed today again..(say its value is changed..) so will my delta fetch this order again?

Yes it will. Delta will bring whatever changed with the order, but you need to make sure that there are no filters in place to say extract only confirmed orders, etc.

Delta for an enhanced structure

Hi All,
I have a few questions regarding delta for enhanced datsources. I had enhanced a datasource which was delta capable with the delta based on "Timestamp". Now when I try to perform delta extraction using the new enhanced datasource, It doesnot bring in the new records that were created in the source system though it brings in the changes performed to the old records. Please let me know if I am missing something here to be able extract the newly added records.

I think the problem with the load was with respect to the new records help up in the queue. Can someone tell me if having a value in "Total" in the transaction "RSA7" has any significance. Does that mean that the records are held up in the queue and can cause a problem in the delta load? What is the M.O. when that happens.

Delta rendering in Web Dynpro

Hello experts,
i have a simple problem regarding delta rendering. My application uses one main view, which itself contains two sub views. In the first sub view a large number
of small images (thumbnails) is displayed and the user can select one image, which is then displayed in the second sub view in a bigger size.
My problem now is, that an image selection (via a button) causes a complete rendering of the whole page, which has an awful layout effect and is also unnecessary, because of only the second sub view has been changed. I already use the parameter 'WDDELTARENDERING', which has no effect.
How can i prevent the rendering of the whole page?

I would think so, if "every" action ends to a complete rendering of the whole page. Otherwise the SAP documentation says only the view that has been changed (in my point of view the associated context is changed) is newly rendered when WDDELTARENDERING is set to 'ON'.

BI is a analytical system, where we interested to do analysis for our ststegic desicion.Where as R/3 is an operational system which have much more detailed information.
So the data in BI system have to be much aggregated, rather than replicaing the R/3

Question regarding business plans for an iphone app

Hi everyone, please forgive me for possibly posting this in the wrong area.
I have a couple of questions I'd like to have clarified regarding the service agreements for development of iphone apps.
I need to approach management at work, with an explanation/answer of how the royalty process works in regards to providing a free application to access a service we charge for.
If we develop an app, put it on the iphone store for free, but the users need to pay a monthly subscription service to fully use the program (via our website which uses paypay), does Apple take, or want a cut in the tiny profits, from having the program hosted for free in the app store?
This is the current scenario:
Clients sign up for a 'lite' type of usage of the site/service. If they want more features, they then use PayPal to update their subscription.
I guess two questions now... Firstly, can you use PayPal for monthly subscriptions in Apps?
Secondly, Would Apple want, or be authorised to take a cut on a free app, that is assisting in income for a company.
Are there 3rd party or custom agreements made? What if the app was charged for in the first place? Would that cover everything, and the rest of the income 'our business only'?
I hope this isn't too complicated or confusing, but I would like to be pointed in the direction of some good documentation with values and figures to back up the answer.

I tried called them. The girl I spoke to was hard to understand, and I'm not sure if she understood me correctly anyway.
She basically said "no" about Apple wanting a cut, however I will wait and see other's thoughts on here.
