1.Why we are using XI in the file to IDOC scenario?without XI we'll do this data transfer from third party system to SAP r/3 system by using EDI.so wht is the neccesity to use of XI?
2.How we can recognise the third party system in XI?don't say abt technical and business system.
3.In which Cases we are using Host and IP address?
4.What is the criteria for crearting Port in IDX1?
5.Is it necessary to maintain IDX2?

1.From 10g onwards, oracle introduced new data types BINARY_FLOAT and BINARY_DOUBLE.What is the significance of word BINARY in these datatypes?
Is the word BINARY because of the way the calculations are done when these datatypes are used?
2.*Oracle uses blank characters to fill format elements to a constant width equal to the largest element for the relevant format model in the current*
session language. What is the reason for returning constant width?
3.In the syntax for simple comparison conditions, the syntax when we have more than one expression is
*(expr1,expr2,...) {=| != | ^= | <>} (subquery)*.My question here is why other relational operators like <,>,<= and >= are not allowed? Is there any specific reason for this?

    Hi, Sreekanth,
    Sreekanth Munagala wrote:
... My question was how Oracle treats a string literal in SQL functions, whether it treats it as a CHAR or VARCHAR2 datatype?"String literal" means text enclosed in single-quotes. For example, the 2nd argument in this call to TO_CHAR is a string literal:
TO_CHAR ( hiredate     -- This argument is a DATE column
         , 'DD-Mon-YYYY'     -- This argument is a string literal
)What does it matter if the string literal is treated as a CHAR or a VARCHAR2? Give a specific example.
You can see the data types of arguments by querying the data dictionary view all_arguments. There are several versions of TO_CHAR, overloaded in the package sys.standard. You'll see that many of them have the data type VARCHAR2, but none of them have the data type CHAR. If you do pass a CHAR argumnent where the function is expecting a VARCHAR2, it will implicitly convert it.
Since CHAR is a fixed length datatype and the output of the function TO_CHAR is always a fixed length by default (i.e. without using FM), i think oracle is treating the string literal as CHAR datatype. Are you talking about the value returned by the function, or some literal? Literals only apply to written code; functions never return literals.
The output of the function TO_CHAR is not always a fixed length without 'FM'. For example, this one call to TO_CHAR in one query, using one set of NLS settings:
SELECT  TO_CHAR (comm, 'TM')  AS f_comm
FROM    scott.emp;produces strings that are sometimes 1 character long, sometimes 3, and sometimes 4, as well as NULLs.
It may be true that a given call to TO_CHAR in a given statement, where the first argument is a DATE and the 2nd argument is a constant and does not include 'FM', will always return a string of the same length. That still doesn't matter. The return type of the function has to be specified when the function is compiled; the system can't wait until you call the function, then examine its arguments to see if they meet all the special conditions set above, and only then determine which data type to return. It has to know, before the function is ever used, which data type to return.
Look up TO_CHAR in the SQL Language manual to see what data type it returns. It's VARCHAR2.

  • Gudevening sd gurus  i have some doubts plz help me out

    1.how do u settle rebate
2.how the item condition type in pricing picks the price without assigning the acesssequence to condition type?
    3. why do we maintain pricing  pricing procedure for free  good delivery?
    4. we  can six different kind of dates in sales  oder , how these  dates are determined in sales order plz in detail?
    5. how can link the delivery document to shipping doc where do we have connection?
5.if i want to change the moment type 601 to 523 , what are thing need to be done?

    Dear Venkat
Please dont post too many questions in one thread as you will not get feedback to all questions.
    1)  Rebate Settlement
You can partially or fully settle a rebate agreement.
The system uses the services rendered date (which is the billing date, if you are shipping products) to determine whether a billing document qualifies for rebate processing. To qualify, the date must fall within the validity period of one or more rebate agreements.
Since it is possible for the billing date to be later than the services rendered date, you may need to allow some time after the end of a rebate agreement's validity period before final processing of the rebate agreements. If the volume of your sales rebate processing is high, you can collectively process rebate settlements as a background task.
    2.  Condition type in pricing
If I understood your question correctly, I dont think without maintaining proper access sequence, your pricing condition type will flow into sale order / billing
    3)  Free Goods Delivery
If you want to generate a sale order in SAP, you have to have a pricing procedure with respective condition types
    5)  Movement Type
Please check with your MM / FI on the impact.  You can change the movement type in your schedule line category
    thanks

  • Lo cockpit---doubt plz

    Hi All,
i have changed a Datasource in Lo cockpit...by adding a field to the extract structure
and then i even regenrated the datasource in Dev as well and then activated it now after the change its green and i even checked the datasource in rsa3
now my doubt is when importing it to production.
    i will lock the users
make sure no updating is being done
keep all the queues empty (extraction and Delta)
and then import i think i am on right track
so my question is as i have already done the regenerating of the datasource after changing the extract structure in dev and attached it to the request.
so do i need to again regenerate the datasource once i import the request is it necessary or else i just import the request with changes and then check the datasource and just start the V3 update and then replicate it in BWPRD becoz i have already regenrated thedatasource and activated it.
below i am giving the list of the contents in my transport, ( JUST TO CONFIRM I HAVE ONLY ADDED A FIELD TO THE EXTRACT STRUCTURE FROM THE RIGHT PANE TO LEFT IN MAINTANCE SCREEN)
    <b>TMCEXACT---100MC13VD0ITM
TMCEXCFS---MCVBRK  -- RFBSK (This is the field i added MC13VDITM
Active version of Datasource--2lis_13_vditm and  a table with --ZZMC13VD1ITM</b>
How to Stop the V3 update where can i find the option....if i am not wrong...is it the one in lbwe with a pencil mark after the datasource name.
    am i right. plz confirm
    thanks and regards
    harish
    Message was edited by: H.B

    H B
Just to confirm again you are on right track. Just transport your changes from Dev to Production system in R/3 side, when you do next delta in BW you will get  for the new fields data in your next extraction.
    Hope this helps

  • To clarify a doubt regarding HP students' offer.

    Revered Sir/Madam,
I've not bought this laptop as yet but I'm considering to buy it from sometime now. What I wanted to clarify is, whether or not the students' offers will be available if I buy it from other online sites like Flipkart/Amazon/Snapdeal. Doubtful of this because recently I called up a HP dealer and he was like I won't even get 1 year as ususal warranty leave alone extra students' offers if I don't buy from HP itself online or specifically any HP dealer/stores. Is this true? By the way, I'm a computer engineering student and on uploading my info & college Id card, have got the students' offer eligiblity. Please resolve my confusion. Thaning you in advance

    Hello Alok
A date can be inside or outside a range but not not less than a range.
In your case you should use a simple parameter:

    START-OF-SELECTION.
      SELECT * FROM ....
        WHERE ( budat < p_budat ).

    Introduction of D.O.T. in MSI
    Graphics Cards
D.O.T.(Dynamic Overclocking Technology) is MSI's important
and outstanding breakthrough in mainboard and add-on card technology. Briefly,
D.O.T. is an auto-overclocking function, primarily focusing on detecting the
load of the GPU, and on adjusting the frequency accordingly. When the GPU isn't
running or when the load is low, the frequency remains on Default, which means
D.O.T will onlye be activated when overclocking would benefit the user.
D.O.T. will help the 3D Graphics cards in running games or programs
smoother and faster. For example, when you are running the 3D games or some
image processing programs, D.O.T will adjust the GPU and memory frequency to
optimize performance. However, when you are only surfing on Internet, doing word
processing, or defragmenting your hard drive, the GPU will remain on the default
    value.
By using D.O.T., users save time and reduce the risks of trying
overclocking by themselves. MSI spent a lot of time and effort on testing and
experimenting the acceptable and safe overclocking range of GPU. That's why
D.O.T. is far more stable than manually overclocking; the settings have already
been tested. Besides, if the graphics card is overclocked all the time, it not
only wastes electricity but also shortens its life.

align=right>MSI has made a considerable overclocking
achievement in PCX magic graphics cards. This not only improves 3D performance,
but also meets the needs of most overclockers. Six levels of overclocking are
available, adding up to 10% maximum overclocking performance: Commander,
General, Colonel, Captain, Sergeant and Private.

To show the effects of D.O.T. on 3D graphics card, we used

default, Captain and Commander. Let's look at the difference among these
    settings from the chart below.

          color=#ff0000>Caution:
          Although D.O.T. is more safe
and stable than manually overclocking, risks are still involved. We
suggest you that you first make sure your graphics card can handle
overclocking. If you find some abnormal phenomenons while playing 3D games
after enabling D.O.T., such as broken images, we recommend you to either
stop D.O.T or to lower the level of D.O.T.
          If you prefer to overclock
manually, you must disable D.O.T. first. We cannot gurantee that every
graphics card can be overclocked to the Commander level.

  • Clarify these

    Hi bw gurus,
can u plz explain me these.
    1. how do you convert tech spec to functional spec?
    2. any toughest scenario in implementation proj?( plz for interview purpose}
    points fully assured***
    Thanq,
    Madhavi

    Hi,
    1. how do you convert tech spec to functional spec?
First of all we cant convert using either one document to another document. Instead of that we have to create both documents in different time. You can understand by reading the following definitions:
    Technical Specification:
Here we will mention all the BW objects (info objects, data sources, info sources and info providers). Then we are going to say the data flow and behaviour of the data load (either delta or full) also we can tell the duration of the cube activation or creation. Pure BW technical things are available in this document. This is not for End users document.
    Functional Specification:
Here we will describe the business requirements. That means here we are going to say which are all business we are implementing like SD, MM and FI etc., then we are going to tell the KPI and deliverable reports detail to the users. This document is going to mingle with both Function Consultants and Business Users. This document is applicable for end users also.
    2. any toughest scenario in implementation proj?
That is depending on the implementing procedure. For example you are going to implement the project with full of customizing objects even data source also then that will be tough compare with activate the business content.
If your implementation is based on only activation of the business content, then there will not be taking more risks. Only thing we have to take care of the enhancements. For this you have lot of best practices are there.

  • Clarify these words:posting period varients & open & close posting period

    Hi Sap Gurus,
Someone kindly make me clarify following words.Thank you.
    1.Posting period varient.
    2.Open & close posting periods
3.Assign posting period varients to company code-What does it do after assignment?
    Best Regards,
    priya desai
    Financial Analysist

    Hi,
It is very easy and understandble.
    1.Posting period varient.
If you want to post any documents you need to enter some date right? That date would belongs to some posting period right?.
for Example your Fin.period is JAN to DEC. Means 01 is for Jan, 12 is for DEC, 05 for May.
So according to your requirement you have to create the variant and define what do you want.
    2.Open & close posting periods
When you in operation and if you are posting a document in the month of Feb. the period Jan has been closed it will avoid the mistakes while posting to the different periods.
3.Assign posting period varients to company code-What does it do after assignment?
Once you have created your company code and your posting variant. You are assign to make the link to both the level.
    Warm Regards,

What is the land scape of an implementation project. What is the Golden client server. Is it mandatory to maintain and if yes ,what data shall we put in golden client.
Is the process correct..to do initial configuration in Development server and move it to quality for testing  and after testing shall we move the config to  Production system on golive date.

  • Hello (to clarify some doubts)

Q1: what will happen when we reach the maximum level(ie sec. pages) in drill down reports?
Q2: up to how many selection screens we can create?
Q3: what happens when we use events in INCLUDE Program?
Q4: what the diff b/n smartforms and scripts?

    Hi Khan,
    Check these answers.
    1. After 20 Secondary lists, if we try to trigger a new list, a short dump occurs.
    2. At most one.
    3. When we use EVENTS in INCLUDES, the functionality does not change, for the EVENTS nor for the INCLUDES.
    4. The Following are the differences :-
    a) Multiple page formats are possible in smartforms which is not the case in SAPScripts
    b) It is possible to have a smartform without a main window .
    c) Labels cannot be created in smartforms.
    d) Routines can be written in smartforms tool.
    e) Smartforms generates a function module when activated.
    f) Unlike sapscripts (RSTXSCRP), you cannot upload/download Smartform to your local harddisk.
It was said that it was provided in CRM 3.0 version, but not available in R/3.  You can download smartforms into Local PC in a XML format.  In the same way you can upload this XML format into Smartform.  From the smartform editor itself you can call download option, if you are working in CRM 3.0 environment.
In R3 also, you can download into XML format. However, it's not sure about uploading. Refer to the program 'SF_XSF_DEMO'.
In 4.7 Enterprise, other have seen this utlity which is completey missing in 4.6c. There is functionality to downlaod a complete form or only a particular node. (Utilities -> Download form). It will create a XML file and save it in the hard disk.
For others, if you want to download/upload the Smartforms source, you will need the help from the Basis people.  What you can do is to create a Transport and then FTP down to your local harddisk.   When you need the Smartform source in another system, you have FTP up the Smartforms file back to the SAP server.  Finally, the Basis team, will tp it into your system.
    g) The protect and endprotect command in sapscript doesn't work with smartforms. For example on a invoice: First data of position no 80. is printed on page one, other data of position no 80 is printed on page 2. And there's nothing you can do about it.  Actually, there is something you can do about it.  By using a folder node and checking the 'protect' checkbox, everything in that folder will be page protected.
    Hope this resolves your query.
    Reward all the helpful answers.

  • Request to clarify my doubt - ESXi5.1 -Networking

    Dear experts,
This is my post in this forum and I am trying to learn vmware esxi as much as possible. Sorry to ask you very basic questions.
I have created the following environments for learning purpose.I have a physical server (64 GB RAM) where  installed esxi 5.1 and created 4 VM machines with 8GB RAM on top of this. Each VMs has 2 Network ethernet cards. I have used the 4 vm as follows.
    VM-1   for openfiler (storage)
VM-2   for another esxi host -1
VM-3  for  another esxi host -2
    VM -4 for vCenter server
Now from vCenter server, I have added the hosts (VM-2, VM-3) in inventory and created another 2 VMs (nested vms)  on VM-2 host only and installed CentOS on these VMs. I have also configured a virtual standard switch on VM-2 (esxi host-1 above) so that two CentOS are able to connect each other over the virtual standard switch. But while trying to assign the IP address of CentOs , I am not seeing any hardware Ethernet available in CentOs and 'ifconfig -a ' command show 'veth0' instead 'eth0' . Is it happening because of Nested VM ? Is it my correct configuration ? If I am able to assign IP address in CentOS , can both OS communicate each other over the standard switch?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Tarun

    Thank you for the reply.
I am able to assign IP address in Nested VMs through veth0 , but both the VMs are not pinging each other over the standard switch. Both VMs are in same server.
Am I missing some configuration ?
    Thanks once again.
    Regards,
    Tarun

  • Doubts Plz urgent

    hi,
when delta fails from ODS to ODS what we will do?
can we do reair full request to
    O to O
    O to C
    C to O
    C to C ?
init with out data transfer how many records will bring?

    HI
Lets take a scenario where an ODS A is giving data with ODS B and the delta had been failed.
You have to go to ODS B mark the red request's OM status as  red manully. then go to ODS A, and failed req mark the data mart management as red and delete the delta from there. (tick mark for data mart delta). now just run the delta upload. it should work fine.
Repair full request is usefull while loading data into ODS.
Init without data transfer will bring ONE record.
    Hope it helps.

  • Clarify these questions tooo ..

    Hi gurus,
Well, there are basically 13 types of triggers ( the combinations of before insert, before update, before, after insert, after update, after delete, and for each row option and instead of triggers) .. Apart from these , are there any triggers like session level triggers etc., ?? if yes, can anyone pass on the types of triggers link please
    Regards

    Narendra,
I'm only using your reply as an example to make a point about links to documentation.
When you access the documentation from this URL:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html
You are redirected to the Web server most suited to you. Mainly, this means the one that is closest to your geographical location.
Also, the URL above has links all of the Oracle documentation, so when someone asks a question and does not indicate any version details, they can locate the documentation relevant to their version from the aforementioned URL.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

What is the difference between application server and web server and what are the application servers and web servers.

    Hi
server is nothing but, perform an operation by taking a request and send's response. this operation may be done at inside of server or forwads to another resource.
intially there is no difference. but it is very hard to handle all the prestation and business logic operations.
every time all the tasks has to be perform by the server if there is no difference of webserver and app server. so finally we got a perfect diffenciation.
in 3-tier environment the presentaion operations like viewing(jsp), forwadings(servlets) are taken care by the webserver.
apart from these business logic like beans, portals various application are performed by the application server.
***application server is also an web server but an webserver is not an application server ***
    webservers---tomcat 4.0, iss server;
    app servers- websphere, weblogic, portal.............
