Class not found (html)

hi,
does anybody know what to do if you want to run an applet in an HTML file
all my files are in the same directory, the compiler doesn't display any errors, but in an html-file (with: <applet code="Test.class" .............) everything works except for the applet, it says "load: class Test not found".
I already tried with setpath, jar.file. do I need to change some settings or what could be the problem?
thanks

what virsion of the sdk or what ever you have jyou might need to use the htmlConverter

  • Class not found in applet using 2 jar files

    I have an applet which has been working for years as a stand alone or connecting directly to a derby database on my home server. I have just changed it to connect to MySQL on my ISP server via AJAX and PHP.
    I am now getting a class not found error in my browser, probably because I'm stuffing up the class path.
    The HTML I am using to call the applet is:
    <applet code="AMJApp.class"
    codebase="http://www.interactived.com/JMTalpha"
    archive="AMJ014.jar,plugin.jar"
    width="500"height="500"
    MAYSCRIPT style="border-width:0;"
    name="jsap" id="jsap"></applet>The AMJ014.jar contains the applet and supporting class files.
    The error message is strange to me because it refers to a class I noticed on another web page but which has nothing to do with my applet. Anyway, the message in full is:

  • Class Not Found Exception - applet won't run anywhere outside of IDE

    I have an applet that runs perfectly in the netbeans IDE, but won't run from command prompt (I'm using windows) or from a browser. I've been banging my head against the wall for a few days on this one. Here's the HTML I'm using:
    <applet width="400" height="525" code="musicapplet.class" archive="crypticgraffiti.jar">
    <param name="bgcolor" value="ffffff"> <param name="fontcolor" value="000000">
    </param> </param> Your browser is not Java enabled. </applet>
    Here is the structure of the jar file's contents:
    META-INF/
    META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    com/
    com/crypticgraffiti/
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/musicapplet
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/GetNotes.class
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/InstList.class
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/Mode.class
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/MusicCreator.class
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/OctaveTransformer.class
    com/crypticgraffiti/music/Phrase.class
    musicapplet/MusicApplet$playerThread.class
    musicapplet/MusicApplet.class
    (Musicapplet.class is the main class)
    When I attempt to run from command prompt, I get:
    "Error: Could not find or load main class crypticgraffiti.MusicApplet"
    When I attempt to load via html:
    "basic: load: class musicapplet.class not found.
    load: class musicapplet.class not found.

    Exception: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: musicapplet.class

    I have tried every possible variation for the 'code' element of the applet tag (package.mainclass.class, mainclass, mainclass.class, etc). I have also tried compiling with JDK 1.6 and this didn't change anything. I've tried clearing out the cache of temporary files using the java control panel settings, and have verified that my browser can run other applets using JRE 6 and 7.
    I've tried some different ways of distributing the applet, also: putting all the class files in the folder with the html file, putting the classes in a source folder in the same folder as the html file, and finally putting a jar in the same folder as the html file (which really seems the simplest).
    Any help at all would be most appreciated! This applet is a very cool and original music creating app that draws heavily on the JFugue API. It's a shame that I can't get it online for people to play with!

    Please note that class names are case sensitive so "MusicApplet" is not same as "Musicapplet" or "musicapplet". Your applet tag should have fully qualified class name (without quotes) and should look like this:
    <applet width=400 height=525 code=musicapplet.MusicApplet archive="crypticgraffiti.jar">
    </applet>
    The JAR should be in the same directory as your HTML file. While launching from command line, you can also check if your JAR file is getting included in classpath.

  • "class not found error" and applets ...

    To run an applet inside an html page using the embedded oc4j i have to copy the library containing the applet to the same directory as the html page. Otherwise i get a class not found error....Is there a better way of doing this?
    thanks in advance for any advise

    Hi,
    you should be able to reference the JAR file from teh HTML tag. If not then this sounds like a bug that should be filed

  • Class not found error for applet.

    This is probally a really simple mistake but I've tried everything and can't find it.
    My applet works fine with applet viewer - I'm running it from JBuilder. But when I open my html file in the browser it gives me a 'Class not found' error. I've tried running other applets (my own and demos on this site) and they work fine.This is the applet tag code:
    <applet code = "Rotary.class" width = "650" height = "580" align = "top">
    <!-- coordinates of sectors -->
    <param name = "sector0" value ="234,215,244,207,154,43,125,63">
    </applet>
    The class file is in the same directory as the HTML file. Do I need to specify the codebase? I tried that too - giving it the full pathname of the class.
    In the Java console it said that it couldn't find "C:Project\Rotary\javax\swing\japplet"
    I don't think it could have anything to do with the fact that I'm using swing because the other applets I used used swing.
    Please help - I'm really running out of ideas here!

    You have a similar problem like I had.
    You seem to have a too old JAVA environment for the browser - I had a too new environment.
    For all who are experiencing the same problem!
    Problem:
    You're compiling your applets with a quiet modern compiler (i.e. Netbeans Version 3.5.1)
    You are able to compile your applets without any problems but if you try your applets in "real life", the browsers can't interpret your applets [class not found]. (I tested Internet Explorer 6.0 and Netscape Navigator 4.7)
    So you need a plugin for the new JAVA environment because the JAVA environment of the browser is older than that which the applet needs.
    Well, you have the choice to demand to every user of your applet to download the new Java Runtime Environment, but then don't wonder why nobody visits your site!
    But, don't worry: I figuered out another solution, that Netbeans (www.netbeans.org) allows to compile in different JAVA versions.
    Solution:
    What you have to do is:
    - Install a previous version of JDK (i.e. JDK 1.3 - I would suggest, lower versions don't work with Netbeans 3.5.1 and JDK 1.3 is enough for IE 6.0 and NN 4.7, which I tested)
    - Go into the "bin"-directory of Netbeans (i.e. c:/netbeans3.5.1/bin)
    - Open the file "ide.cfg" (with notepad or any other texteditor)
    - You see a line like: jdkhome "C:\java\j2sdk1.4.2" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
    - Change the path to your other JDK you wish, like: jdkhome "C:\java\jdk1.3" -J-Xmx96m -J-Xss1024k -J-Xms24m -J-Xverify:none
    - That's it, you can compile your applets in a previous version of JAVA so that "older" browser user don't have to install a plugin for the new JAVA environment.
    Have fun!
    If you have any questions I would be pleased to help you.
    If this tip helped you already I would be pleased if you would send me a quick email with your experience.

  • Created serializable object, but get "Class not found" on "createObjectMessage()" cal

    I'm using OC4J 9.0.2.1 and JDeveloper 9.0.2 with Oracle db. I have a set of queues created in the database.
    Before I try to send my request, I create an instance of the serializable object I want to send. I do all of my queue connection setup, then I call:
    queueSession.createObjectMessage(request);
    Where "queueSession" is a QueueSession obtained from "queueConnection.createQueueSession()".
    When I step over this function call, I get the following:

  • Class not found javax.swing.JLabel

    Hello,
    I'm using JDK 1.3.0 and now I tried the first time to include Swing components into my Applet. When I compile the coding there are no errors and even when I use a standard coding example I always get the "class not found error message" for the swing component. When I don't use swing components I don't get any error message and the applet is loaded properly.
    Do I have to trigger the applet in the html coding in a different way or can anybody give me a hint on that?
    Jens

    I also imported the swing classes, but the error pops up either...

  • Interesting Class Not Found Exception on Client Side of RMI

    I am having trouble getting my client to start up using RMI. I am running my server on a linux platform and everything seems to be starting up just fine. Here is how I start the server:
    WEBSITE=/home/ian/html
    SOFTWARE=/home/ian/software
    java -ea \

    -DPREP=$SOFTWARE/prepped \
    -DARCH=$SOFTWARE/output \
    BNS.plumbing.Server $WEBSITE is my Apache Server home folder, which is running. However, now I move to a Windows machine and run IE or Firefox. I navigate to the Apache server and it comes up. Yet, when I try to logon to a client it tells me that the client is not inited.
    Opening the Java Console reveals this error:

    BNS.plumbing.Client is not a Stub method. I have a ClientLiason class which provides the stub and it does not seem to have problem there. Also, when I simply navigate to [http://1.paturi.usher.ucsdsys.net/BNS/classes/BNS/plumbing/] the Client.class file is clearly there waiting to be used.
    Here is what I run when starting server side to get the RMIRegistry (which has been started without a problem):
    SessionHost sh = new SessionHost();
    System.err.println("created an instance of "+ sh.getClass()+" as server");
    Registry reg= LocateRegistry.getRegistry();
    System.out.println(reg);
    reg.rebind(Constants.serviceName, sh);
    System.out.println(reg);
    System.err.println(Constants.serviceName+" server ready.");I have played around with the Registry reg=LocateRegistry.getRegistry() line in particular. I have tried passing in "localhost" and "1.paturi.usher.ucsdsys.net" but all to no avail. Then latter is linux machine that I am using. It is a cluster server at UCSD. In order to access it I must first ssh into a UCSD machine and from there ssh into my machine (this is because it is not a full-fledged ip address, but part of UCSD's domain). I think this might have something to do with the trouble I have accessing the class file when I tried to get at them through a browser directed to my Apache Server.
    I am not the greatest network guy, I know a lot more about programming and I am at my wits end here. I have searched everything I can think of, with little success. If anybody has any ideas or can even point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Ian

    I think your codebase annotation is being lost because Client.class is on the CLASSPATH of the Registry. There are two solutions:
    1. Start the rmiregistry command in a directory other than the root of the package structure, e.g. /.
    2. Use LocateRegistry.createRegistry() instead of getRegistry() in the server, and don't start the rmiregistry command at all.

  • Class not found - ie

    When, I compile applets, I continually get class not found errors when I run it from IE... (Status bar says Class (name) not found)
    But when I use appletviewer, the applet works fine
    The files are where they are supposed to be...
    Here's the kicker... I downloaded a class file from the internet, and that works!! Is there something wrong with the compiler??

  • WLS 7 SSL class not found error

    Actually, I got the same error message to start the Node Manager. However, I don't
    have the RSA license at this moment. How can it make the WL to use com.certicom.net.ssl.CerticomContextWrapper
    instead of com.rsa.ssl.WeblogicContextWrapper?
    Thanks,
    Victor

    Certicom classes are shipped in weblogic.jar, you must have RSA license,
    but
    no RSA SSL classes in the server classpath?

  • 9.0.3 Preview - Class not found error after including jsp:useBean

    Hi,
    I got a Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError while compiling a JSP Page, after including a simple web bean as follows:
    <jsp:useBean id="catviews" scope="request" class="CategoryView" />
    <jsp:setProperty name="catviews" property="*" />
    somewhere within the HTML page...
    <%= catviews.getCategory() %>
    The JSP page without the bean compiles fine and the Javabean itself compiles without error. The bean class is where JDev automatically puts it (i.e in a sub-directory of the classes directory within the project) and JDev does not raise any error on that JSP Page before compiling.
    The error seems to point to the first line of the page, to the directive of the JSP page:
    <%@ contentType="text/html" ... %> which is apparently harmless. What can be wrong ?
    Thanks for your reply.

    'Class not found' means 'Class not found' , the class you are referencing is not in your project's classpath. You should make sure your project's classpath point to the location where this class is deployed to. This could be a directory or a .jar file. You should also include the package name as part fo the class.

  • Errors with CF 8.0.1 hotfix 3 and hotfix 4, "Object Instantiation Exception.Class not found"

    We need to get our servers up to date with the latest ColdFusion hotfixes in order to pass our security scans and policies. We have been following the Adobe instructions for installing the hotfixes, but we’re getting the same errors each time. The CF 8 hotfix 2 works fine, but once we install hotfix 3 and/or hotfix 4, we get the following errors:
    "Object Instantiation Exception.Class not found: coldfusion.security.ESAPIUtils The specific sequence of files included or processed is: C:\ColdFusion\wwwroot\WEB-INF\exception\java\lang\Exception.cfm, line: 12 "
    coldfusion.runtime.java.JavaObjectClassNotFoundException:
    We have dozens of servers running Windows XP, Netscape Enterprise Server 6.1 (I  know, don’t laugh), ColdFusion 8,0,1,195765, and Java Version 1.6.0_04. Just about  the only good thing about running XP on our servers is that it matches  our development boxes, so we have almost mirrored environments for dev,  test, and production. We do NOT have the CF install with the J2EE configuration.
    The crazy thing is, on tech note 51180 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/511/cpsid_51180.html), it says that the fix for bug # 71787 (Fix for "Object Instantiation Exception" thrown when calling a Java object constructor or method with a null argument under JDK 1.6.) was added in cumulative hotfix 2. However we don’t see this problem until we go to hotfix 3 (or 4).
    I’ve also been reading that other people had this same problem, and that the CF 8 hotfix 3 was not compatible with certain versions of JDK, then when you read the Adobe site for CF 8.0.1 hotfix 3, it says “Added the updated cumulative hotfix to make it compatible with jdk 1.4.x, 1.5.x and 1.6.x.”, so that makes me think that Adobe was supposed to have fixed this CF 8.0.1 hotfix 3 JDK incompatability issue - but unfortunately it's still not working for us. We have followed the instructions for removing the jar files and starting/restarting the CF server as directed, we’ve tried this 5-6 times, and still no luck.
    Recommendations? Seems like this is a ColdFusion bug to me – one that says is fixed on the Adobe site, but is not fixed in our environment. Please advise, thanks.

    For what it's worth, we had an MXUnit user describe a similar, though not identical, problem after installing the latest hotfixes. In his case, he's getting "NoSuchMethodExceptions".
