ClassCastException after deploy - bug

Greetings,
After much discussion in the Jdev forum, some here, alot of past discussion
on the hierarchial nature of J2EE container's classloaders,
which all makes sense and is consistant with observed behavior for me
and other posters:
It still seems to me that there's a bug in OC4J 903 that allows for ClassCastExceptions after re-deployment in Apps
that happen to have the same classes.
All the experts weighed in with discussion of how the container class loaders disallow cross loading of classes
from adjacent applications. Great, then
the ClassCastExceptions shouldn't happen. No?
Regardless, the simple issue is; there should be under no circumstances a need
to bounce an appserver after every deployment, to flush out stale classes that otherwise would cause ClassCastExceptions.
Can OC4J experts explain why I should have to bounce 903 OC4J after every
deploy?
Is this issue being worked on (fixed) in 904?
Thanks, curt

Are there any opinions or even similar experiences with
ClassCastException's following hot deploys?
Thanks, curt

  • BUG after deploying/running ADF on 10.1.3(Linux) gives JBO-25002  error

We have found out that there could be a bug in the Linux version of Application Server 10.1.3.0.0 or the Windows version of Jdeveloper.
    We are using:
    * Application Server 10.1.3.0.0 (Integrated Web Server, J2EE Server and Proces Management) on both a Windows XP machine and a Linux (Red Hat) machine.
    * Jdeveloper Version 10.1.3.1.0.3984 (Build JDEVADF_10.1.3.1.0_NT_061009.1404.3984)
We are developing an ADF application using business/ADF components with several jspx pages in the latest version of JDeveloper.
    * Testing it on the embedded server of JDeveloper everything works perfectly fine. We can click through all the screens without getting errors;
    * After deploying the ADF application to the home instance on the Windows version of 10.1.3 Appplication server everything still works as expected.
    * Finally when we deploy the same application to the home instance of the Linux version of the 10.1.3 we are getting the following error after loading the first jspx form page:
    500 Internal Server Error

    We have tried many things:
    * Checking the databindings in the model layer of the ADF application
    * Checking and testing the datasources on the Linux Application Server
    * Using Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and later 10.1.3.1
    * Deploy remotely from Jdeveloper
    * Deploy the EAR file from the EM consol
    * Adding extra ADF/BC4J libraries with the Linux deployment
    * Creating another OC4J instance, deploying the BC4J components and redeploying the ADF application
    * Reinstalling the Application Server software on Linux (clean install)
Does anyone have a clue why it works on only on Windows and not on Linux?
We have not tried yet :
    * To deploy another ADF business components application on the Linux application Server (when I have done this I'll get back to you)
    * Compare the versions of the ADF components used on the application server with the versions of the ADF components in the Jdeveloper installation (could there be a difference? Is there a newer version of Application Server 10.1.3 available?).
    Cheers,
    Thomas

Thank you guys. We have found the solution for the deployment problem on Linux. Oracle technical support has pointed us into the right direction.
During the development process two databindings (XML files) were renamed in the model layer (\Model\classes\model\dataaccess\). Like for example we had a data binding called DTBinding.xml that was renamed to DtBinding.xml. The changes were applied in the source code of the project. After depoyment to the application server it seems that the old databinding file was still there (DTBinding.xml). This was the cause of the JBO-25002 error on Linux. After renaming DTBinding.xml to correct file name DtBinding.xml (in the folder /opt/oracle/product/10.1.3.1/OracleAS_1/j2ee/OC4J_TMFB/applications/APPNAME/APPNAME/WEB-INF/classes/model/dataaccess) and restarting the OC4J instance on the application server the application was finally working on Linux.
A few things to keep in mind when you are developing on Windows and deploying to Linux:
    * The Windows OS is not looking at uppercase characters in XML file names. As long as the file name of the XML is correct it will be found.
    * It seems that changes in the databinding filenames in the JDeveloper (10.1.3.1) source code are not correctly submitted after building and deploying the project. So be carefull with changing names.
    Cheers,
    Thomas

  • CSM 3.3.1 - deployment bug? after installing SP1&SP2

    Hi all,
I've recently installed CSM 3.3.1 with SP1 and SP2 and I've encountered quite serious (for me) problem. Has  anyone met strange situations after installing service packs?
When I discover new device (i.e. router with 15.1 ios version) and make changes in ZBF policy, CSM deploys new configuration and everything seems to be fine. I must stress that only seems.
When for example I want to make only small changes to that device (by adding new username ans password) I make "preview configuration" and I see that CSM deletes part of ZBF policy - 10 of 12 zone-pair. For example for some reasons manager makes "no service-policy ...." in zone-pair. When I do another "preview configuration" (after adding another username) it deletes those empty zone-pairs. I thoung maybe naming doesn't suit it and I need to recreate all policy through CSM - nooooo. It did not help. Still it tried to delete some of policy.
Even when I created all ZBF policies from CSM Ive got situation when in one preview config it removes security-policy from zone-pair and after deployment in second preview it adds these security-policies to previous zone-pair. Its happaning in a  loop.
Or another strange behaviour is when I add new username it does sth like this:
    In "preview configuration" there is
    policy-map type inspect CSM_ZBF_POLICY_MAP_1
    no class class-default
    class class-default
        drop
while in GUI in CSM there is action inspect defined.
I've looked through bugtool, but with no success, so need any help.
    regards

    hi,
    thx for interest,
I didn't open the TAC case casue I didn't have much time for it, however the issue is resolved. It occured that SP2 to CSM was problematic. Right now I've got 3.3.1 version with SP1 and everything works just fine. To make sure that it was it, I installed then SP2 and the problem started again.
I don't have configuration saved but actually there wasn't much of it. It was a fresh system and only 1 or 2 devices ware added so I suppose it should be easy to restore the situation.
if you got any new info please let me know
    regards

  • Ejb-ref-mapping in orion-ejb.jar missing location attribute after deployment

I have noticed that on several of my entity beans that after deployment the <ebj-ref-mapping location="JNDIName" name="LocalName"/> is missing the location attribute. This causes any attempts to lookup the EJBHome for that EJB to fail because the path to the EJBHome in JNDI cannot be found (obviously!). The problem is that this causes me to manually edit the application-deployment/<app>/<ejb.jar>/orion-ejb.zml after each deployment via the admin.jar. This seems like a bug with OC4J and I am wondering if Oracle is aware/doing something to fix this?
I have noticed that the same problem exists for session beans, however, for some strange reason the EJBHomes can still be resolved in JNDI. In all cases the location in JNDI is different then the <ejb-ref-name> I used in the client EJB.
Example being I have an entity bean at com.foo.Foo and the session bean uses lookup("java:comp/env/ejb/Foo") it is still able to find the EJB even though the orion-ejb.xml looses the location attribute. If the case is an entity bean referencing another entity bean in the same fashion I get an error because the location attribute is missing.

If the 'location' value is same as the 'name' value, then even though the location attribute is missing, it is ok and should work. If they are not the same, then you should have defined the ejb-link element in your ejb-jar.xml when defining this ejb-ref and that would make the location attribute appear in the generated orion-ejb-jar.xml.
If the referenced bean is from a different application (EAR), then you should have used the -parent option when deploying the application.

I can run the application correctly in jdeveloper 11g environment. I think there is something wrong with deployment. Can anyone help me?

When you target url with .jspx, you are running the page itself, not in the task flow context, so navigation doesn't work.
In the task flow, your page has 'Activity ID' (which is, for example, 'mainPage' for mainPage.jspx) and the navigation is defined for activity IDs, not pages.

  • Report Generation broken after deployment - Excel Set Cell Color and Border.vi

Upon deployment, the Excel Set Cell Color and Border.vi became broken.  After installing LV2010 SP1 to view the VIs in the deployment, I noticed that in the second case structure where the code draws the border using the BorderAround invoke node, there is an extra variant input parameter named 'Parameters'.  Upon right-clicking, an option to 'Relink Invoke Node' appeared and after selecting this, the extra input disappeared and the VI was no longer broken.
Why does "Relink Invoke Node" appear?  How do I create a deployment with this issue?  Has anybody else experienced this?  Why is the TestStand deployment so buggy?

    Hi Ching-Hwa,
I have set up a test deployment here where I am deploying a workspace that contains a sequence file.  This sequence file has a LabVIEW Action Step calling a VI that opens a new Excel file and simply calls the Excel Set Cell Color and Border VI.  After deploying this, both the VI and my test sequence ran on the deployment machine without error.  Therefore, I do have some more questions to more accurately reproduce what you are seeing.
First, what operating systems are you developing on and deploying to?  Also, what license do you have for TestStand on the machine you are deploying to?  If you have a development version, can you manually take the sequence file and VI to this machine and run it?  I know you now have LabVIEW 2010 SP1 on your development machine, but if you have the development version of TestStand as well, it would be interesting to see if you copy the files over if you still see this behavior.  Are you including the TestStand Engine in the deployment?
Can you open a blank VI on the deployment machine and add the Excel Set Cell Color and Border VI?  It would also be interesting to see if this is not a product of the deployment, but rather an issue with something on the deployment machine itself.  What version of the Report Generation Toolkit do you have on each machine?  Also, what versions of Excel are you using on the development and deployment machine?  Again, it would be helpful for me to know exactly what versions you have installed on both the development and deployment machines so that I can reproduce this as accurately as possible.
One last thing to try, too, would be to try deploying the VI by itself just to see if it also has the same behavior.  Do you have the Application Builder in LabVIEW?  If so, could you also try building an executable from the VI, create an installer, and deploy this to the deployment machine?
In regards to the "freezing" of code by removing the block diagrams, I do not believe this will be a proper work around in this case.  While this removes the block diagram from actually being deployed along with the VI and restricts users from editing the code on the deployment machine, if something is getting changed in the compiled code upon deployment, this will not stop this from happening.  This option is available more as a memory option to lower the size of the deployment as well as prohibit any users on the development machine from editing the block diagram themselves.
Thanks, Ching-Hwa!  I look forward to your response so that I can continue trying to reproduce this issue.  Have a great day!

  • How can I run a vi after deploying into a PXI Machine

    Hi;
I am wondering if there is anyone out there who knows how to run a vi after deploying into a PXI machine from my host machine. In my application, I have some vi's that are deployed into my PXI machine. My problem is that when I would like to start these vi's simultaneously after deploying them. My current approach is to call vi reference and then invoke-> run. However, since there vi's are being deployed from a host machine and they are running in the PXI machine, I don't know how to create vi reference with the path constant. In other words, how can I find out the path of my vi after being deployed into my PXI machine from the host.
    Best Regards,
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When VIs are deployed onto a PXI Real-Time controller they are generally copied to a C:\ni-rt\startup directory on the controller.
Helpfully, this KnowledgeBase article talks about how specify and programmatically launch VIs on an Real-Time controller.
    I hope this helps,

yes, you are getting Cross Origin Problem .So, you need to disable the web security for chrome.
Go to properties of chrome , and add this after path of chrome.
    --disable-web-security
    After this restart the chrome.
Please follow the below link for reference.

  • Error executing the Query after deploying and executing the application in WLS 6.1 SP3

    Hi,
We are trying to run a application by deploying a war file on Web Logic Server
6.1 SP3. After deploying and at the time of execution of the application, the
server console displays this error message
    java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ttcgcshnd-1],
    [0], [], [], [], [], [], []
While debugging thru the application we found that this error comes at the time
of execution of the query thru the Statement.executeQuery method of java.sql.Statement
    class.
This same application when deployed on Web Logic Server 8.1 runs perfectly, without
    any hitches.
Please, provide me the solution to this asap.

Look for sometime around November. No exact date.

    Thanks Eric,
you know what I'm going to ask next right?
Any ideas when SP4 comes out?
    Cheers,

The next version of Apache that we will support will be 2.0.42/2.0.43
    and
the module for that will be included in the next Service Pack for6.1(SP4)
    and 7.0(SP2).
The problem with Apache 2 is that when a new release comes out a newmodule
needs to be compiled. Most of the time. For 2.0.42/2.0.43 this is notthe
    case.

I'm trying to set this up (initially just apache in front of a single
    WLS
server but ultimately I want to put it in front of a cluster).
    I've installed Apache 2.0.40.
I've copied the mod_wl_20.so file into the apache modules folder.
I've edited the httpd.conf file and added the line:
    LoadModule weblogic_module modules/mod_wl_20.so
When I run apache -t to check the configuration I get the following:
    C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\bin>apache -t
Syntax error on line 173 of C:/Program Files/Apache
    Group/Apache2/conf/httpd.conf:
    Cannot load C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache2/modules/mod_wl_20.sointo
server: The specified procedure could not be found.
    So what's going on here?
Looking at previous postings it sounds like there's an issue with
    versions
of apache after 2.0.39 but I can't find a download for that version. Also,
it sounded like the issues were for WLS 7, not 6.1. Can this work
    with
2.0.40 or am I wasting my time?
If I get the mod_wl_20.so from dev2dev I get the "incompatible plugin"
message that has been mentioned in this group already.
    Any suggestions appreciated,
    -Dominic

    Hi Samir,
    you could be right...
it could be, that our metadata are inconsistent, because we had before problems with the automatic code generation.
What should we do, if we have such a inconsistency of our ejbmodule, dictionary and metadata model?
is there a way to repair the project?
Undeploy and Redeploy doesn't have an effect on this.
We cannot start again, because we put in 10days of development?
    Thanks for any help.

Is it have to do with the Deployment profile ? or any Data Control Issue ?

    Thanks Guys,
You won't believe if I say the issue because of a minute error.
for some reason the AMImpl.xml and its class files were getting created in different directory where as the DataControl was referencing the different directory, when I changed the proper directory for classes files to generate things started to work fine.
As long as the creating the deployment profile, I think I did right. So all is fine at my end.. thanks for your links, it was really helpful though.
    Thanks

  • Best practice for customizing EJB property after deployment

    Hi Gurus,
What is the best practice for customizing EJB property after deployment in NW7.1? I have a stateless session bean and it needs to get some environment information before acting. While the information can only be known at runtime. What should I do to achieve it? I thought I can bind the property with a JNDI context but I did not find out where to declare and change the context value. Please advise. Thanks.
    B.R.

    Hi.
I have a similar problem. But I still can not edit the properties of the ejb-jar.xml.
I tried to stop the web service, but the properties still remain unmodifiable.
Could you advise me how to change them?
We have installed SAP Server 7.0.2

  • Images are not shown after deploying in apps

After deploying my application in apps i have put all my images in media folder even then the images are not displaying, can any tell me what is the reason for this, but when i have deployed before it was working fine...

when the page is displayed without the image, right click on the image place holder and click on properties. Under General tab,
address will show you the place/url page is looking for the image. Make sure you have put the image on that path and the name of image mathes the case as well.

  • Adobe Javascript buttons does not work after deploying by ADS

    Hi,
I have a dynamic PDF with adobe javascript " addInstance (1) ". In the preview of Adobe Lifecycle the PDF works like it should. However when I deploy the PDF in Developer studio the button is working anymore. It looks like the PDF isnt dynamic after deployment.
I have tried to add the following code , but it isnt working:
    IWDInteractiveForm iForm1 = (IWDInteractiveForm)view.getElement("InteractiveForm1");
    iForm1.setDynamicPDF(true);
Also, the properties of the PDF is set to Interactief Form, and XDP preview format is Dynamic PDF.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Thank in advance.

    Hi Harman,
Am i inserting the code at the correct spot?
    //@@begin javadoc:wdDoModifyView
Hook method called to modify a view just before rendering.
This method conceptually belongs to the view itself, not to the
    controller (cf. MVC pattern).
It is made static to discourage a way of programming that
routinely stores references to UI elements in instance fields
for access by the view controller's event handlers, and so on.
The Web Dynpro programming model recommends that UI elements can
only be accessed by code executed within the call to this hook method.
@param wdThis Generated private interface of the view's controller, as
provided by Web Dynpro. Provides access to the view controller's
           outgoing controller usages, etc.
@param wdContext Generated interface of the view's context, as provided
by Web Dynpro. Provides access to the view's data.
@param view The view's generic API, as provided by Web Dynpro.
           Provides access to UI elements.
@param firstTime Indicates whether the hook is called for the first time
during the lifetime of the view.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply.
Yes you are correct, i compiled using jdk1.5.
but my servlet code will not compile in jdk1.4 version since i used advanced vaector classes in that.
Is there any settings like script file that need to be changed so that i can point to my jdk1.5 compiler rather than the default one pointed by weblogic.
    Thanks in advance
    Ram
