ClassCastException in Connector.java code

Hi All,
I understand what ClassCastException is. This is the code from one of the CLDC API's provided (Connector.java) which causes the exception :-
public static DataInputStream openDataInputStream(String name)
throws IOException {
InputConnection con =
(InputConnection)Connector.open(name, Connector.READ);
try {
return con.openDataInputStream();
} finally {
con.close();
Connector.open() is supposed to return a new Connection object. I am trying to cast it to Inputconnection which is a subinterface of Connection. With this error I am unable to create any network connection. The name string I am providing is "datagram://1.9.67.1:32767". When I printed the object returned by Connector.open(), I found this :-
com.sun.cldc.io.j2me.datagram.Protocol@1a4cfaaa
This does not appear to be the same as javax.microedition.io.Connection (which is an interface anyway). datagram.Protocol implements DatagramConnection.
Now can anyone help as to how to fix this problem? Or just show me sample code to open a simple datagram connection (UDP) and associate with InputStream object.
Thanks,
SM.

I figured out what the problem is. InputStream can only be associated with a StreamConnection. That is possible only with "socket" protocol. So to use "datagram" protocol and also associate it with InputStream object, an intermediate layer has to be written which is not provided by CLDC API.
Cheers,
SM.

  • How to get the filters of Webi document/Report using Java code in XI SDK.

    Hi All,
       I have a requirement where i have to extrcat filters from the Webi Document.using java SDK.
    I am trying to find the class called "filterable"but not able to use in my java code and will get always
    "java.lang.ClassCastException  com.businessobjects.wp.om.OMDocument cannot be cast to com.businessobjects.rebean.wi.Filterable"
    I am using the below java code like
    ReportElement re=document.getStructure()
    FilterContainer flt=((Filterable) re).getFilter()
    I am stuck and need this in uregent.
    Please help.

    Hi Rajeev,
    To retrieve a FilterContainer you will need to traverse the report structure:
    ReportStructure boReportStructure = boDocumentInstance.getStructure();
    ReportContainer boReportContainer = (ReportContainer) boReportStructure.getReportElement(0);
    FilterContainer boFilterContainer = null;
    if (boReportContainer.hasFilter()) {
         boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.getFilter();
    } else {
         boFilterContainer = boReportContainer.createFilter(LogicalOperator.AND);
    Calling boDocumentInstance.getStructure() will retrieve the entire structure for the document.
    Calling boReportStructure.getReportElement(0) will retrieve the structure for the first report of the document.
    Hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Dan

  • Help Needed in AD Connection form Java Code

    Hi,
    I want to connect to AD target form my java program.
    We are doing this as we don't want to use the OOTB Connectors.
    How can any one connect to AD target from Java program?
    After connecting,
    How to Create a User in AD? Is there any API? Which one?
    Regards,
    SK

    You'll want to do a search on JNDI and Java code. There are lots of sample code available on the web and tutorials. Here's a list of the classes you'll probably be using:
    import javax.naming.CommunicationException;
    import javax.naming.Context;
    import javax.naming.NameNotFoundException;
    import javax.naming.NamingEnumeration;
    import javax.naming.NamingException;

    import javax.naming.directory.Attribute;
    import javax.naming.directory.Attributes;
    import javax.naming.directory.BasicAttribute;

    import javax.naming.directory.DirContext;
    import javax.naming.directory.InitialDirContext;
    import javax.naming.directory.ModificationItem;
    import javax.naming.directory.SearchControls;

  • Java code to invoke a native library in a Resource Adapter

    Have any of you done the project on invoking a native library in a Resource Adapter that you could share some experience/tips? Thanks

    Hi Frances,
    I haven't yet done anything in this area, but I should be rather staright forward in following the related manuals:
    Configuring the Use of Resource Adapter Native Libraries
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28956/adminra.htm#CACJAJHC
    The oc4j-connectors.xml File <security-permission> Element
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28957/jcacontinued.htm#CHDHFEDA
    BTW: as far as I can see (haven't read the whole manual) the most important point isn't addressed in this manual: to make the native code available in your Java code, you have to load the native library with a code line like:
    System.loadLibrary("....");
    or
    Runtime.getRuntime().loadLibrary("...");
    This code line is a very critical one, because you can call it only ONCE for a native library during the runtime of a JVM.
    From the Runtime.loadLibrary JavaDoc:
    If this method is called more than once with the same library name, the second and subsequent calls are ignored.
    This statement is also true for calls in different ClassLoaders!
    Best,
    Manfred

  • Accessing XI Tables (ABAP Stack) from Java code

    Hi,
    IS it possible to access tables like SXMSPMAST, SXMSPEMAS directly from Java code without the use of any RFC or BAPI in between?
    Cheers,
    Earlence

    I think it is technically possible, as you can get access to the JDBC Connector service using J2EE's JNDI feature ... Then you can use the internal DB datasource to read data from tables (read ONLY, cuz I'm not sure it is a good idea to update data "outside" the box, and reading can also have potiential perf or stability issue) ... Some (better) methods can also exist !

    I need sample java code for search operation tooo.
    regards,
    Sindhu.M

    the sample JAVA codes are provided for sending SPML requests, HTTPClient and one more (i dont remember rite now) within the OIM installation folders itself. It's in the 'SampleHttpClient' folder. Check it once. WSDL, sample XML's and the JAVA codes all are there. You just need to set the classpath and run it.

  • How to pass the parameter values to the stored procedure from java code?

    I have a stored procedure written in sqlplus as below:
    create procedure spInsertCategory (propertyid number, category varchar2, create_user varchar2, create_date date) AS BEGIN Insert into property (propertyid, category,create_user,create_date) values (propertyid , category, create_user, create_date); END spInsertCategory;
    I am trying to insert a new row into the database using the stored procedure.
    I have called the above procedure in my java code as below:
    CallableStatement sp = null;
    sp = conn.prepareCall("{call spInsertCategory(?, ?, ?, ?)}");
    How should I pass the values [propertyid, category, create_user, create_date) from java to the stored procedure?[i.e., parameters]
    Kindly guide me as I am new to java..

  • Include PHP and/or JAVA code in any BC site.

    I am thinking about including some PHP and/or JAVA code into my BC site and I was wondering if I am allowed to do this. Just Curious. Thanks.

    That's a shame, because I was thinking about implementing a business search api for my real estate website that was created using business catalyst that allows the collection of all real estate agents in Australia by searching and collecting their information from the Yellow Pages and White Pages directories, and include these information in a database that allows users to search for the real estate agent they want and comment on that agent. This can only be done by integrating some PHP or JAVA code into my BC website.
    So that means that the only way that I can do this is to create a web app that allows users to search for the real estate agent they want to see and comment on that agent, just by entering real estate agents' information into the web app's database and using various BC modules and plugins. Are there other easier ways to do this? Thanks.

  • Some java code returns a null resultset from 10.2.0.1 DB, but works w/ 9.2

    I am a Java noob guys, but we have java code the calls an Oracle Function. This code is unchanged from what successfully runs against an Oracle 9.2 database returning, in this case, one row from the database. A ref cursor is used. When the same Java code calls the same ref cursor function from a 10.2.0.1 database, a null resultset occurs. The function correctly returns a single row when executed by the same database user via sql-plus. So it must be a java thing. Does the jdbc driver need to be upgraded to correctly run against a 10.2 database? And is this null resultset type of anomaly a potential result of having a wrong version of ojdbc14.jar? Nothing else has changed except pointing the code to the same package and tables in a 10.2 database.
    Thanks in advance for your comments.
    Phil McDermott

    I realize now that this is the wrong forum to post in, but I was linked here from a google search on the issue.
    I downloaded the 10.2.0.1 ojdbc14.jar from oracle, but the problem persists.
    yeesh! now what?

  • EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) on compiled Java code

    I'm confronted with the following error of this code.
    http://db-www.naist.jp/~makoto-y/tmp/Int2LongHash.java
    The exception appears only when the system gets high-load.
    Is there work-arounds?
    I've tried also with jdk1.5.0_06, but the same error occurred.
    Converting the inner class to a top-level class has no effects.

  • How to provide value to a User Defined field thru java code

    I am using OIM 11.1.1.5.
    I have a user defined field called Unique-Customer-Number. This field need to be pre-populated during user creation (using OIM Web UI) and the value comes from a java code.
    Can any of you tell me the high level steps to implement this.
    Thanks!
    Kabi
