Classic 120 and Pioneer AVIC-F900BT

Hey guys,
Something striange is going on with my classic 120 when it is connected to my pioneer AVIC-F900BT head unit with the pioneer ipod lead. Everything works ok, i have control via the head unit and can use all the functions, then for no reason at all,( I have tried knocking, pulling pushing, breakin, accelerating even steering!) I loose all sound from the right channel ( front and rear). if i disconnect and reconnect the ipod, 5 times out of 10 it reconnects fine and all is well, until randomly the same thing happens again..
I'm bouncing this on both pioneer forums and here just to cover my bases.
I have tried another ipod in the dock, and it worked, but only to see if it worked rather than a prolonged test, because my wife would wonder who left thier Ipod in my car... and why?
any of this sound like a known issue?
Thanks

Addendum
Had a great chat with a guy from pioneer technical support....
his words of wisdom had me stuuned, " well it could be the I-pod, or possibly the Head Unit, it may even be the interface lead"
Where do you learn things like that? is the a university of the friggin obvious?
the story continues

  • Lightning Adapter and Pioneer AVIC Reciever

I just got the iPhone 5 after having every previous version and have a Pioneer AVIC F900BT reciever in my car. Has anyone used the lightning adapter with these radios yet? I have unplugged the USB connector on the 30 pin cable and plugged my iPhione 5 USB plug in there, the controls display, but the audio comes out of the iPhone not the car speakers.
    Any help would be appreciated.

You could try the restore function from within the ipod updater to enable audio out from the dock connector.
And there is two IP Bus connections on the IB100 (IN and OUT) - only of them has audio output (not sure witch one it is, but you should try both). Doing these two things should probably solve your problem.

  • Nano and Pioneer avic-d3

I recently purchased a new Pioneer avic-d3 multimedia server for my car. The docking cable was added cd-1200. The system cannot find my nano ipod, yet it can hookup to my wife's nano no problem. Her Nano is a new unit, wheras my unit is older Model a1137 versus her's which is a a1199. Is this a software issue? Any help would be great
    Thanks

Yes, I am getting the same error 11. I called Pioneer for help. They said that its probably the cable. Error 11 means that it can't charge the ipod. Make sure you have your settings set to charge ipod on the avic-d3 unit. This could help! This didn't work for me though. Let me know if you hear any other solutions. I am thinking of bringing it back to get the cable checked.

  • Ipod Classic 80g and Pioneer CD-IB100 II adapter....

Ever since I updated my ipod with the f/w 1.1, i've been unable to access my ipod manually when it's connected to my head unit. It just goes into an auto lock. Is there anyway to override this? I know there was a way to do it when the f/w was 1.03. It's just such a pain to search for my music through the head unit when so little is being shown to me. I liked how I could search for music directly through the ipod. Is there any suggestions? Anyway I can downgrade back to 1.03? Someone posted something, but it was a downgrade for the Mac, and that's sort of useless to me considering I'm using a gateway pc. Thanks guys!!!

I am having the same issue with my 6th gen 80Gb ipod classic and my pioneer head unit. I am using the cd-ib100ii. I have seen ways around the head unit control for the 5th gen but not this one. Pioneer is not offering any help. Anyone have any ideas. I can't return the cd-ib100ii and I don't want to see it go to waste.

  • [N73] Bluetooth and Pioneer CD-BTB200: work around

    Hi all,
Just to let you know the work around for using the N73 with FW v4.XXX and the Pioneer BTB200 (among others, delivered with the AVIC-D3 system). Since automatic BT connectivity does not work, I tried something different.
    - set BT on your N73 to "on" and visible
    - let the Pioneer system look for your N73
    - pair (default key '0000') but do NOT set to automatic connect
    - phone register on your Pioneer set
    - each time you swith the Pioneer set on, you have to manual connect from the phone.
(if you don't want your phone to be visible for other devices, please do not forget to set visibility to 'no')
How to manual connect from the phone:
    - open BT settings, go to "connections"
    - select your Pioneer BT device
    - connect
Although you'll get a message on the Pioneer system that the device is not compatible, you will see the headphone icon on your N73, and you can make calls (in- and outgoing).
Hope this will help some of you :-)
    Cheerio,

  • I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had music on my ipod that I had gotten from other people's itunes libraries by changing my settings to manually sync my ipod. However, twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it completely erased everything

I have an ipod classic 120 gb. I had it set up so that I manually sync and manage my music. Twice I have had my ipod plugged into my mac and it had erased everything on my ipod. All the music on my itunes was still in my library, but all the other music was lost. I understand that I need to go back to the other libraries I got that music from, but how do I make sure that my ipod doesn't keep syncing and erasing itself? Also, now every five minutes a message will pop up on my itunes saying that it cannot sync because of an unknown error and then it has the number 13014. I have no idea what that is about. Does anyone else go through this? How do I fix it?

Well the iPod is supposed to be synced from YOUR iTunes music library, if you used other means to put music on there then the iPod is going to sync to only what's on your itunes music library when you connect it.
You need to put the files into itunes.
Far as your other issues, sounds like the drive is dying.

  • Ok i have a 3g iphone and in my car i have a pioneer avic-3 audio-dvd-gps-cd-ipod,etc it word fine until today...i tried to connect to my voce mail and will not route the voice mail audio thru my pioneer and speakers...

i have a 3g iphone & a pioneer avic-d3 car reciever...the bluetooth unit pairs with the phone anwsers and dials, auto connects, no problem...until today it won't connect with my voicemail as it stays connected...i have the latest up grade on the iphone and its only 2 weeks old and it worked fine for the time i had it...its a used phone!

I tried that method too and shile it will work, one false move and you can slice too deep. The option that worked for me was to buy the original iPod shuffle lanyard case. it comes with a short (3 inches) headphone extension cable where the male end fits in the iphone jack. it was $4 on ebay.

  • Can Itouch be charged and fully functional with Pioneer AVIC-Z3 auto stereo

I am considering getting the Pioneer AVIC-Z3 navigation/stereo Head in my car. I am told that the Pioneer unit will not charge an Itouch that has higher than version 1.15 because of charging voltages/pin changes. I was also told that a Scosche Passport will not solve this problem with the Pioneer systems.
1- Pioneer reps told me that if my Itouch has version 1.15 it will charge and have full functionality with the Pioneer Z3 as that was when the Z3 was designed for. My Itouch has version 2.2 I believe. Can I "downdate" to version 1.15 and how?
Anyone have any experience and advice with this matter. This may be a deal breaker.
    Thank you.
    Don

Pioneer reps told me that if my Itouch has version 1.15
It's NOT the software version you are running that counts! First generation touches support both FireWire and USB charging; Second generation touches charge only with USB.
The allowable FireWire voltage range is something like 8 volts to 36 volts so auto charger manufactures didn't have to do anything to use the 12 volts a car has.
Second generation touch charging support requires the manufacturers add a regulated power supply to furnish the USB 5.0 volts.

  • My ipod classic 120 wont respond and the screen is frozen

my ipod classic 120 wont respond and the screen  is frozen

    Hello Charles,
What happens if you try to do a hard reset?  To do this, press and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  This may or may not work the first time around so be sure to attempt this at least a minimum of three times.
If the iPod remains frozen, let the iPod's battery drain completely, but attempting to recharge the iPod.

  • Pioneer AVIC-N4 to ipod compatibility

About 6-8 months ago I purchased a Pioneer AVIC-N4 for my truck. One of the features advertised for this HU was it's compatibility with Apple Ipods. Two weeks ago I purchased an Apple Ipod classic with 120GB. I also purchased the Pioneer CD-i200 interface. I did a search on this help site and find NOW that the classic is incompatible with the N4. I called Pioneer (non)support and all they could tell me was that the classic is indeed incompatible with the N4. When asked which ipods specifically WERE compatible with the N4, ALL he could say was that he THINKS the GEN 3 & 4 Ipods will work. When pressed for more details, (which GEN 3 & 4) he got angry and hung up on me.
I love my classic and have decided to keep it. I'm thinking of getting a second refurbished GEN 3 or 4 from apple if they are still available, just for the truck. The problem is which one? If possible I'd like to get more than 16 GB. Can anyone tell me specifically which ipods work with the AVIC-N4.
    Thank you.

It's weird that a new product will only work with such old iPods.
I can't help with confirming what will work and what will not, but I can tell you the difference between a 3G and 4G iPod.
The 3G is designed to work with a FireWire docking cable. It has the now standard dock connector, and it may be able to sync over USB, but it will not charge over USB (and you need a FireWire connection to do a Restore ). The 4G works with either FireWire or USB. One strange quirk of the 4G is the need for a power (wall) adapter to complete the Restore process. I don't think any other iPod model required plugging into a power adapter to complete a Restore.
All 3G iPods have monochrome screens. Some 4G iPods have monochrome screens, but the photo model of 4G iPods have higher resolution color screens (but still no video).
The 4G iPod has a better battery. Play time is significantly longer than a 3G iPod with stock battery. But you can buy replacement higher capacity batteries for the 3G for less than $10 (including shipping and take-apart tools) on eBay. The stock 4G battery is pretty good and seems to last longer (as in time before you have to replace it).
I have a 3G and a 4G (photo). I personally think the 3G has slightly better sound. But the difference is probably not noticeable if playing in a car.
The 3G has all touch controls with four separate buttons for menu, play, next, and previous. If you are used to the clickwheel, it may take time to get used to it. Because everything is touch sensitive, it is easy to "press" one of the buttons by mistake. You end up using the Hold switch more often. The 4G was the first iPod with the now familiar clickwheel.
The 3G came in the following storage capacities:
    Thinner design - 10GB, 15GB, 20GB
    Thicker desisn - 30GB, 40GB
The 4G came in a variety of storage capacities from 20GB to 60GB, color and monochrome screen. The 20GB and 30GB were the thinner type. The 40GB and 60GB were the thicker type.
The thicker iPods (both 3G and 4G) use the thicker 1.8" hard drive with two platters. These hard drives seem to be more fragile than the single platter (thinner) hard drives.
I don't think Apple has any of either for sale as a refurb. The best bet would be eBay, but it is hard to judge the condition of the iPod (especially of the hard drive) from low res pictures and written description. I got my 3G and 4G iPods as broken iPods on eBay and fixed a few by swapping parts. The two I use regularly look and work like new.

  • IPhone no longer works with Pioneer AVIC-D3 car stereo after recent update

I've used my first gen iPhone with the iPod adapter/cable from my Pioneer AVIC-D3 since I first got it - and it's worked great. But after the recent update it doesn't work. I only get an "Error-11" message on the stereo screen when I plug the phone in. Anyone? This is really frustrating!
    Thanks.

Nevermind. Did a hard reset of each and they work now. Odd...

  • Ipod Classic 120 opens iTunes, is in My Computer, but NOT in iTunes

When I plug my iPod Classic 120 into the PC it opens iTunes automatically. It shows as an iPod in My Computer, BUT doesn't show in iTunes.
It doesn't show the Syncing Circle when I plug it in.
The screen just changes to 'Connected'
I also get a Caution bubble in the taskbar
    Here is the other photo
I followed all the recommended options I saw posted including uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes.
It also locks up when I eject, and freezes up the PC as well.Stays on 'OK to Disconnect' for a while, not the way it always was.
Its getting to be a real pain!
    Any help??

    Thx

Did you put it on your ipod?

  • Newest version of universal dock appears to be incompatible with my ipod Classic 120 gb.  Remote does nothing

I purchased from Apple, a new universal dock with remote (MC746LL/A) along with the proper dock adapter for my ipod Classic 120.  According to Apple the dock works with any ipod with a dock and adapter..  The remote does absolutely nothing despite a brand new battery.  The only reason I purchased this pricey accessory was to have an additional ipod station with a remote.  I could have saved a ton of money if I didn't care about a sensor on front of the unit.  Any thoughts.

You are in exactly the same boat as I. I have the same problem. I posted a query on this forum too but no help came forth. Looks like Apple could be blocking replies to iPod Classic issues since it withdrew the product. Amazing company. But incase anyone can still access this query, please help. It will help two customers of Apple if not more.
    Awaiting help !!

  • IPod Classic 120 stuck

My iPod classic 120 is stuck in a reboot cycle and will not start. What should I do??

If all else fails to sort out the iPod, wait for the battery to drain down fully. When it does, wait for a further hour or so, to make sure it is fully drained.
Then you can plug it into power. At first, it will appear that nothing is happening, but it is and after about thirty minutes or so, the screen should light up. Hopefully, after it's fully re-charged, the iPod should work okay.
    What happens?
