Classic 80g won't sync. After Optimizing Photos says .50 error

I've tried everything, but I can't get my ipod to sync. When it gets to the part where it says "Optimizing Photos," it says "Cannot sync ipod. Error message .50. Also, after I choose "eject," the ipod still shows as connected. Will only eject once I unplug it. Can anyone help?

I load new updates to my iPod Classic a couple of days ago and it stop sync 'g music. The next thing was my iPod Classic would not sync with iTunes and the only selection I had was to use the restore. Now, all of the photos I had on my iPod Classic are gone and all of the Photos in iTunes are out of it and I can't figure out how to get the photos back on to my iPod Classic.

  • Won't sync after update 11.1.4

I can now get itunes to recognize my devices but they won't sync properly. There's no error messages. They simply don't do anything during the sync. I've tried restoring my iPod. Adding a playlist, the entire library and nothing works. Help? I'm running windows 8.1 btw.

I have the same problem.  Windows 8,1,  Itunes 11.1.4.  IPod Classic 160 GB.
If I connect the iPod to the USB port, iTunes simply hangs and becomes unresponsive.  I have to unplug the iPod and kill the iTunes process to reset things.
The iPod is very full.  I've tried deleting albums in iTunes to create breathing room for the sync.  But that doesn't help.
When they aren't connected, the iPod and iTunes each run fine, but syncing fails.

since upgrading to os4 my 3gs won't sync music and photos. a sync completes successfully and other things like contacts, calender etc all sync fine. but my folders of photos i want synced to the phone don't appear in the photos app anymore... and also any new music (songs or playlists) i add to be synced just don't appear on my phone. also another i've noticed, when i add a song (or more than one), the space that is attributed to music doesn't increase and free space doesn't decrease. does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I also get alot of errors liek 13014 or 9..

I inadvertantly dropped my iphone 3 and now have a white screen with green vertical lines to the right of the screen.  It won't sync with itunes due to an error. What can I do?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If it does not resolve the issue, the device is permanently damaged and will require replacement.

  • My iPod Classic 80Gb won't sync with iTunes after "Restoring" to factory settings

My iPod Classic is probably about 8 years old, or maybe a little more and has never before given serious problems. Until I recently "restored" the device, the hard drive had about 40Gb of music and podcasts stored on it but no photos or videos.
The device recently just "died" completely and without warning - just a blank screen with no response from any of the controls.  I rebooted it using the "Menu" and "Select" buttons and it came back to life. However as it had recently been displaying some other small issues like having to be manually ejected every time after syncing, instead of automatically saying "it is now safe to disconnect" as it always used to, I thought I'd restore it to its original factory settings and then reload my catalogue.  Big mistake!
Now when I connect the device, it won't automatically sync as it always used to; and when I try to manually sync it either from the "Sync" button at the bottom right hand corner of the iTunes screen or by right-clicking on the device's icon in iTunes and selecting the "sync" option, the iTunes banner simply states "iPod sync is complete" and "Eject before disconnecting" with no data being loaded.
My computer is a Windows 7 PC running the latest version of iTunes (11.3.1.2) and the iPod device software is up to date (version 1.1.2). <my windows updates are carried out automatically.   I have worked my way through the iTunes diagnostics pages, but to no avail.
Any assistance in resolving this issue would be much appreciated.

You would have to update you Mac os.
    It is clear:
    System requirements
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port, Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later, and iTunes 10 or later4
PC with USB 2.0 port; Windows 7, Vista, or XP Home or Professional (SP3) or later; and iTunes 10 or later4

  • TS1591 My ipod classic (80gb) won't sync with my mac & itunes. How can i fix this without losing all my data? (ie. music, photos, video)

My ipod classic is still working, its not frozen or anything. It just won't sync up with my macbook and itunes. I recently realized that I had previously connected it to a PC just to charge it then it when i tried to connect it to my mac, it wouldn't sync up. Can someone help me figure this out? I don't want to lose all of my data though, like music, photos, or videos. Any help is appreciated! Thank you for your time!

okay, I don't know about the rest, but about the songs never actually loading onto your iPod, I found in another discussion how to fix that. I'm using Windows 7, so I don't know if the steps are the same, but the end result is the same. So go into your Start menu, then into accessories, right click 'Command Prompt' and click 'Run as administrator'. Then type in the following: netsh winsock reset then press Enter. After a few seconds it should tell you to to restart your computer for changes to take effect. Restart your computer, then restart iTunes, then everything should be working fine. It still takes forever sometimes to update the iPod, but eventually it will work. I've had to do this multiple times, so I'd suggest copying & pasting this solution into a notepad or Word document and saving it on your computer, so you don't have to go through the discussions again to find it. This tends to happen to me nearly every day unfortunately Hope this fixes that problem, but I'm not having any of the other problems fortunately, except for removing the artwork of the songs it updates without me asking it too. PS I think my problem may be with iOS 5, because iTunes 10.5 came out before iOS 5, and I think everything was fine before I updated my iPod, but I really don't know where the problem lies

  • IPod classic won't sync after Sleep until G4 restarted

I've got an *80GB iPod Classic* (sw ver 1.1.2) that *won't sync* with my G4 Quicksilver (10.4.11) *after the computer wakes up from sleep*. If I restart the computer, I can sync with no problem, and I can disconnect the iPod and sync as many times as I like +as long as the computer doesn't go to sleep.+
My iPod is connected via a *Belkin USB 2.0 5-port PCI expansion card*. I can't remember the model number of this card, but I know a similar one would not permit my computer to wake up from sleep when it was installed.
I've consulted http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24639 and know some PCI expansion cards provoke sleep issues with the G4, but there's no specific information on what issues or which cards. The solution offered in the kb article won't work for me, either, as the Quicksilver's built-in USB is 1.0 (i.e. slow).
*Have I diagnosed the problem correctly* -- is the problem with the Belkin USB 2.0 expansion card?
If so, *is there a similar USB 2.0 card out there that doesn't induce sleep problems* (i.e. disk mounting problems after the computer wakes up)?

is itunes open when it goes to sleep? is the ipod plugged in when it sleeps? does unplugging & plugging in again the ipod make a difference?

  • My ipod classic 120GB won't sync to itunes

I have updated itunes and un-installed and re-installed it multiple times but I've had no luck. I have deleted all the content off of my ipod but it still won't sync to itunes, any help please? I have spent hours trying to find a solution but I feel as if I should give up now, has anyone got any advice?

You iPod looks ok, except for the Pending Sector of 8,  and the high Start Stop numbers.
What is the iPod Software as shown in the Itunes summary page in your Mac?
    My Suggestions
Try the Hard Reset first, it worked for some people,
After charging till full charge, at least 2 hours (preferably 4 hours)
Disconnect the iPod from the Mac
Toggle the Hold switch, make sure you dont see the red mark when you do the  next step
Reset the iPod -> Press Menu and Center button simultaneously for about 10 secs till the Apple Logo comes ON
    Then release the buttons
    Select your preferred language.
Here is the Apple support Article on the 5Rs
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/classic/
Then try to connect and see it iTunes recognised it.
Also note that when you sync an iPod, do connect it directly to the body of the Mac, and not via any USB Hub or the keyboard USB hub. Also do not use any other USB devices.
    Good Luck!

  • Ipod classic 80GB won't sync.

Hi, I posted in another thread and was advised to start my own discussion.
I have an ipod classic 80 GB from 2008 that runs fine except that in the past few weeks it will not sync with itunes 10.4.1 on an old MacBook white from 2006. I had not synced in a while but when I wanted to update a playlist it freezes itunes completely, usually right after it prompts me on whether or not I want to restore purchases no longer present in itunes. In some other topics I've seen suggestions to wait it out to see if it will sync eventually while the beach ball spins, but after 20-30 minutes it still won't sync.
I am unable to restore the ipod because when the ipod icon is present in itunes, by that time it has already frozen and I have to force quit. The ipod seems to connect fine otherwise, and as I had it set to disk mode it will appear in Finder and files stored on the machine seem perfectly accessible.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know this is frustrating. I also have a Classic 80. I don't have Windows7 so I don't know if that is contributing to the problem. However, have you tried going into "programs, apple, change, repair? Maybe a file is missing that is needed to run sync. That was my problem. Secondly, you Ipod may be full of duplicates. I found that out when I opened Ipod. I had movies and songs I thought I had lost. When you sync Ipod and Itunes, and it gives the message that your files on your Ipod will be wiped out and replaced with Itunes library, don't believe it. They are still on your Ipod and your Ipod get overloaded. I had an orange bar on Itunes. When you find the duplicates, you can save them to another file or delete them. I hope this is a solution. Ipod is an expensive item. Another suggestion, update Ipod hardwire on Itunes webpage.

  • IPhone won't sync after upgrading to Leopard

My iPhone won't sync, or even show up in iTunes, after upgrading to Leopard. I've tried restarting my Macbook Pro, trying different USB slots, closing and reopening iTunes, everything. Has anyone else had this problem??
    I've tried everything apple suggests:
    1. The iPhone battery might need to be recharged. For information about charging iPhone, see "Charging the Battery" in the iPhone User's Guide.
    2. If that doesn't work, disconnect other USB devices from your computer and connect iPhone to a different USB 2.0 port on your computer (not on your keyboard).
    3. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Note: If you enter the PIN incorrectly three times, you may need to contact your carrier for a Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) to enable your SIM card again.
    4. If that doesn't work, restart your computer and reconnect iPhone to your computer.
    5. If that doesn't work, download and install (or reinstall) the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com/itunes.

You might need to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service. Follow the link below for info on how to do this.

  • Ipod Touch 5th gen won't sync after iOS update

iPod Touch will not sync after iOS 7 update. It's stucked at "changes are being applied" and won't go past that point. Tried 5 times and got the same problem. I have the latest iTunes installed.
    Any suggestions?

Try a cold reboot of your phone / iPod. I.e. hold power + home button until it reboots.
    Worked for me.

  • IPod Classic 120GB won't sync songs

My iPod recently began having issues, such as not playing songs that should've worked, skipping over them, etc. So I chose to restore it, and now it stops syncing songs at around 3 GB worth of music, and I'll either get error 1303, 53, or 69. I sync manually, no photos or anything besides music. When it gets to around 3GB full, the sync will start going really slow, and I can hear a weird crackling sound coming from my iPod, as if it's trying too hard, and then the error message pops up after this goes on for a while.
Here's what I've tried so far:
    - 5 R's
    - Disk Mode
    - Turning off UAC
    - Using the Administrator as the account doing the sync
    - Using different usb cable
    - Using different USB ports
    - Using different laptop/desktop
    - Updating Itunes, Ipod, & Windows Updates
Everytime I see a "solution" in a thread, I try it, and not one of them has worked. I've also heard it is a hard drive issue, relating to Itunes 9.0.3, which I've been using. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2298386&tstart=15
If nobody has an answer, at least can someone tell me how to convince Apple to send me a replacement? My iPod is still under coverage of the warranty.

Same thing happened to me. I took the ipod back yesterday to the apple store and I got a new one. However, I'm still having the same problem. I think that something is wrong with the settings or itunes 9 itself. Going to keep checking.

  • IPod Won't Sync After Moving Music to New Computer

With the help of someone here, I moved my iTunes Library from my old computer to my new one. It didn't work exactly like it was supposed to. All of my music is on my new computer and in my iTunes library, but my playlists, counts etc. are gone. Whatever - I'll deal. Now, though, my iPod won't sync with my new computer (which I did authorized). The "Do Not Disconnect" sign never goes away after I connect my iPod. Thoughts?

*I'm afraid to plug in my iPod in fear of it erasing my playlists...*
If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to a different iTunes. You'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows
*but should I plug it in to restore playlists??*
Your playlists won't be restored by simply connecting your iPod to iTunes.

  • IPod Won't Sync After Updating to iTunes 10

Whenever I click sync to add the music that I purchased in the online store, it says that it is syncing the ipod, but then stops and then loads on the ipod screen for it being okay to disconnect. I've reinstalled itunes 10, tried itunes 8 (wouldnt work because library was converted to itunes 10) and it still does this same exact thing where it won't sync my music from the library on my computer to the ipod.
    Help please.

Since upgrading iTunes I've noticed that not all of my podcasts will sync - one or two are always left out. Syncing again will get the stragglers, but it used to work just fine.
Another issue, possibly related, is I've seen an accumulation of 'Other' data on my iPod that I can't identify. I'm beginning to think it might be abandoned audio files from auto updating smart playlists that remove selections after they've been played. Doesn't happen with podcasts, though, because that smart playlist refuses to auto update on the iPod.
