I truly dont understand why apple have supported all of these other companies who have made accessories for apple products like the i-pod and then all of a sudden with the new range disable this and make many of these devices unusable. Their own dock is fine I suppose but the remote that comes worth it is totally useless.
You cannot peruse the menu's and your various playlists and you know have to get of of your *** to do this!. What is the point of a remote if you still have to get up????
I dont mind having to get a new dock and cable but I expect to have full use of my i-pod like I did with my Onkyo DS-A2.
As someone who has three i-macs and 5 i-pods in my home you can guess I am a bit of a fan, when however they start annoying me with this nonsense then it will be even more so for the more casual apple user.
You really have to get this sorted apple or this could bite you in the ***, they have to make the i-pod software backwards compatible with other companies accessories.

I agree wholeheartedly - in the next month I shall be buying a new home-computer - up until last week this was without doubt going to be the new iMac - now it is probably going to be a VAIO or similar - the likelihood of being a new iMac is absolutely minimal. This is wholly based on the experience with having had Apple render many of my accessories and most importantly to me the various car interfaces that I have, useless and incapable of working as they did before

Photo stream pictures can be viewed only on the devices they were sent to. You can't transfer them back to your phone (or anywhere else). If you didn't back up or import the photos to a computer, and they are no longer on your phone, they're gone.

How to get video clip from other project?
I have been saving all the clips into one huge project and I think it is time to divide them into different projects.
Also, how do I know if the project would fit into one DVD when I burn it?

Should I keep Classic or Nano video or even Both?

I have both the new 80g classic and the ipod nano video 8g. I don't know if I should keep both. I like the to use the nano when I go for a jog in the morning but I also like the classic because it holds all the music videos movies and pictures. I know for christmas I am getting the ipod Touch. That will leave me with three devices. Ipod touch has the wi-fi which is very appealing to me when I am on the hot spots or on the airport, I can just leave the other two ipods and take the ipod touch. If anybody can give me a suggestion on what to keep or reason to even have both. Thanks

You cannot merge two Apple IDs. You cannot share purchases with other Apple IDs although there is a temporary form of sharing.

Daisy chaining external hard drives and a video camera from a single firewire 800 port on my imac

I have only a single firewire 800 port on my imac and want to know if I can daisy chain two external hard drives and my video camera, please? If not is there another solution using USB 2?

Are the external HDs self powered or powered by the FW port? If they are self powered there should not be a problem. If they are port powered they may put a strain on the port's power output but I'n not positive on that.

Syncing Classic and Nano to the same account

I have an iPod Classic and an iTunes account for it. I was given a new 4th generation Nano and would like to sync it to the same account (or a second iTunes account on the same computer). But I want to sync different things to each iPod without affecting what is on the other. Is this possible and how do I accomplish it? Thanks

IMovie and Importing video AVCHD from the Canon High-Definition HG10

iMovie 08 does not let me import high definition video (AVCHD) from the Canon HG10 camcorder. Could you let me know how I can do this or what program can do it? iMovie 08 and the Mac do not recognize the high definition video (AVCHD). Thanks for your assistance. Best, Joe

Your camera is on the supported list, and if you will search these forums, you will see that many people are using it.
iMovie recognizes AVCHD, but only from a supported and connected camcorder.
If you prefer not to import from your camcorder, you can buy a program called Voltaic. It takes about 12x realtime to convert AVCHD to an editable format. You can import directly from your camera much quicker.

Nano won't play purchased music from iTunes 6!

Is there anyone else that is having problems playing purchased music from iTunes 6 on your iPod? My 4GB iPod nano is not playing (i.e. skipping over) songs that I have purchased AFTER I upgraded to iTunes 6. My iPod software is up-to-date and I tried resetting the iPod, but neither helped. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help.

From what I've read, resetting your nano erases the music, etc. from your nano, putting the software back to its original state.
This really has to s*ck, but if it works, its good that you can fix it that way. It does, however, make a great real life case for backing up your music.
I've been using software (no I don't work for them) called e-backup for my email. I have receipts and other email from 2002! But, the point: it allows you to backup other folders/files. I included my music as an option yesterday because I remember losing term papers, etc. that I didn't backup to floppy or disk. Just in case!

Hi all, i can't sync over wifi between my iPhone 4 and Windows 7 64 bit, wifi sync works with the same phone and my Windows 8 machine so the problem seems confined to Windows 7. I've tried solutions from other threads -
Making sure everything is allowed through firewall
Rebooting phone/laptop/router
Disabling ipv6
Disabling all networks except the one curently on
Re-installing iTunes
Restoring iPhone
No luck with any of those unfortunately so i just thought i'd see if anyone else is still without wifi sync after trying those as well and if you ever found a fix, thanks.

I just wanted to leave a note that it's working now. I'm not sure if it was the latest iTunes update that got it working or that i decided to start a new library instead of using the one i had backed up on Windows 8 (it didn't occur to me to check using the old library when i re-installed iTunes). But if anyone is having this problem, it might be worth trying again with a new installation of iTunes to see if the latest update works for you, and if not, try using a fresh library instead of a backup (by fresh library i mean discard your old library completely and start a new library, not just restore as new iPhone, a whole new library).

Photoshop CC will not import any video files when I try Video Frame to Layers and New Video Layer from File

Specifically I'm trying to import a .MOV I made in Quicktime. The file opens up everywhere else so it's not an issue with the file being corrupted. The error message I get from CC is
"Could not complete command _____________ because the video file could not be opened."
As far as I know I didn't save the .MOV with any permissions, but then again I have very limitted understanding of Quicktime. Originally the file was a .GIF that I converted to an .MOV because I wanted to edit the GIF using the video timeline instead of the animation timeline.

Also, as an aside since I know a lot of Adobe employees are on here, the animation timeline is pretty crummy, there should be a way that you can open a .GIF into the video timeline as a video layer.

Yes. Unfortunately the move has almost certainly caused the loss of the resource data that would have been (invisibly) attached to those files.
By adding a specific .mov extension after the fact you will have helped the Mac correctly identify the file type / asscoiations but also significantly you will have physically changed the filename eg from "clip" to "clip.mov". This means that when you come to reconnect the media in FCP , then FCP will be looking for files that no longer exist at the given path eg when specifically looking for our example clip called "clip" of course it won't find it.
Try this as a test... first remove the ".mov" extension from one or more of the clips, select those clips and press Cmd-Opt-I to open an Info window for the selection. You'll see an "Open with:" popup and in that popup you should choose QuickTime Player (if its a Unix Executable then it will initially list Terminal as the appropriate app, you have to choose Other... then in the open dialog choose Enable > All Applications and then navigate to and select the Quicktime Player app as the appropriate app). After you've done that restart FCP and see if you can now reconnect to those clips.
