Classic planning application properties

Hello,
How to view created classic planning application properties as what options had selected when creating application from Classic Application Wizard, Select, Calendar, Currencies, Plan Types, etc.
Regards.

One of the ways:
Take a LCM export of planning application and have a look at ApplicationDefinition.xpad file.
Once backup is done, you can find it at: in 11.1.2.1:
Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\epmsystem1\import_export\<user>\<Dir>\resource\Configuration\Properties
Cheers...

  • Can you copy Classic Planning Applications?

    Hi,
Is it possible to take an existing Classic Planning application, and make a copy (or duplicate version) of it? For Essbase applications, this is a simple process in EAS, just right click the application and hit Copy. However, while this method will copy a Planning applicaiton's outline in EAS and nominally show a new application in Enterprise View, it does not actually create another application in the Planning workspace. This makes sense, because the process for creating Planning Applications is not done in EAS. There are two questions I have, and an answer to either would be appreciated. First, is it even possible to make a copy of a Classic Planning Application, in order to allow two different admins to work seperately in two independent applications that both begin with the same dimensions, outline hierarchy, data forms, task lists, user provisions, and initial data set? Second, if it is possible, what is the process, or could someone point me in the direction of where I may find this in guides? Thank you.

    Thanks,
I am a bit confused by what you mean when you say "replace SQL repository". I am not very experienced in this area, I am using SQL Developer to access the RDBMS. Could you explain what the steps are for this? I can find the tables that are created when a new Planning App is made, but I'm not sure what they mean, so the more specific you can be, the more helpful it would be.
Also, when in Shared Services, I select the artifacts I want to migrate, and then click Define Migration, bringing up the Migration Wizard. However, after I select the source (which is the Old Planning App), I click next to select the target, and the screen goes blank white and seems to be stuck. I can exit out of the screen, but I have let it load for 20 minutes now several times, and it just stays on this blank white screen, like the Migration Wizard has frozen. Any ideas of what might be causing the Migration Wizard to go blank?
*Additional note:  I am also no longer able to check the Artifacts box for Relational Data in Shared Services for any of my applications, and am not able to open up the Tree to expand it.  The artifacts for Plan Type, Configuration, Global Artifacts etc. can still be selected.

  • Classic Planning applications vs PMA Applications

    Hello Experts,
"For Classic Planning applications, databases are created and maintained within Planning. For
Performance Management Architect applications, applications are created in Performance
Management Architect and deployed to Planning."
Can anyone explain me, what is better to install --> Classic Planning Application or Performance Management Architect Application? Which is easier to work, what are the advantages and disadvantages? I´ve planned to install Planning 11.1.1.3.
    Thanks a lot!

    Here is my 2 cents.
I just did EPMA and was told by many that they aren't using it or haven't used it so didn't have much back up.
But I have to tell you I like EPMA much better that Classic planning once you get the hang of it. Also this is where Oracle is going with the product you might as well jump on the band wagon sooner rather than later (ie get used to Classic Planning then having to make the switch).
I find that Classic Planning requires a lot of clicks to get some stuff done and is a bit more streamline in EPMA.
That said EPMA still needs a lot of work. For example your Alias are kind of hidden in Dimension mode. Where I would rather the default be visible instead of having to go to alias and hit F2 to see 1 or all of them.
One of the biggest reasons I like EPMA is Calc Manager. Business Rules sucks if you have to do a lot of calc (way way too many clicks). So as soon as I saw the power of Calc Manager I will never go back to Classic planning and business rules.
Still EPMA is where things are going so you should go there first unless you find a bug then fall back to classic.
One approach people have done though is to create the environment in classic planning and migrate it to EPMA. But if you don't know classic just load direct to EPMA in my opinion.
    Let's see what others say.

  • Metadata from epma Planning application to classic Planning application?

    Hi!
I am creating a new classic planning application, but I would like to use all the metadata from existing epma application.
I'm wondering whether it is possible to get metadata from an  existing epma planning application to a classic application? Is this possible using LCM?
Or do I just need to get an ads file from the epma planning application and then create a csv file that I would then  load into this new classic app using for example OutlineLoad utility.
    edit: version 11.1.2.2
    kind regards,
    user637777

You should be able to export the metadata from the planning application using LCM, you could also see if the outlineload utility will let you export, can't remember if it allows it even if it is EPMA enabled.

  • Support for Classic planning applications

    Hi,
We have developed planning applicaiton using classic. Our client says that the support for classic planning applications will be withheld by oracle and so they want us to convert the classic to EPMA. Is it true that the support will be withheld?
Also it is not possible to load metadata to EPMA applications using Outlineload utility. Am i right?

    Regards,
Ragav.I have never heard that mentioned by anybody, there are many classic applications out there that use outline loader, ODI, DIM to manage the planning applications metadata.
No you can't use the outline loader for EPMA, but there is a command line utility :- http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17236_01/epm.1112/epma_batch_user/launch.html

  • How can we delete a dimension from the classic planning applications

    Hi Friends,
I am trying to delete a dimension from the planning classic application but i am unable to find out the delete option to delete a dimension. I created the dimension from the Administration -->dimensions --> Add dimension.
If we want to delete a dimension how we can delete that dimension, I heard meta data is stored in the RDBMS so that why if we want delete dimension we need to delete in RDBMS so please tell me the location in RDBMS to delete dimension. i am using sql is RDBMS.
    Thanks in advance......

As John mentioned, it is not supported and advisiable to delete a dimension from Planning application. but yes you can take a chance with some risk if you need to do so.. this opertaion is tested in 9.2 but i never tried in EPM V11.
You will need to delete all the children first, then the dimension.
BE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP OF YOUR APPLICATION BEFOREATTEMPTING THIS PROCEDURE.
You will need to delete all the children first, then the dimension.
If you have the dimension in forms, you may also need to (after step 5) go into the hsp_formobj_def_mbr table and delete all references of that object ID. Then delete the dim id in thehsp_form_layout table. Recycle services of Planning.
Procedure: If you create a custom dimension in planning and wish to delete it, here is how you might remove it from SQL manually.
it is recommended that only someone familiar with relational databases attempt this. The following assumptions are being made about the dimension: No forms have any references to thedimension. Any and all attribute dimensions have been removed from the dimension. Any and all members have been removed from the dimension. All security access has been removed from dimension. Any Alias associated with the dimension has been removed.
    1. Open the Enterprise Manager for SQL server
    2. Open the database that has your planning application
    3. Open the table HSP_OBJECT
    4. You need to find the row that has the dimension name you want to delete:
    5. Take note of the OBJECT_ID in my example it is50051, don't delete it yet.
    6. Open the table HSP_MEMBER
    7. Find and delete any rows that have a MEMBER_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
    8. Close the Table HSP_MEMBER
    9. Open the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.
    10. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
    11. Close the table HSP_MRU_MEMBERS.
    12. Open the table HSP_DIMENSION
    13. Find and delete any rows that have a DIM_ID equal to the OBJECT_ID from step 5.
    14. Close the table HSP_DIMENSION
    15. Also delete it's reference from the HSP_UNIQUE_NAMES table.
    16. Delete the row in the HSP_OBJECT table that you found in step 4.
    17. Close the HSP_OBJECT table.
    18. Open Essbase Application Manager for the application and remove the dimension from the necessary Essbase outlines
    19. Restart the application server.
    good luck!!!

  • Business Rules error when creating new classic planning application in 9.3.

Im trying to create a new planning application using classis planning application wizard in Workspace. everything seems alright untill i gets an error saying "Business rules cant connect to Planning"
other than this Business rules working fine and i can open business rules in other applications and i can access business rules repository in EAS.
    Any thoughts on this ?

Further invesitgation bears this problem out.
Oracle support recommend wrapping the SimpleType in a ComplexType. This does work, but now I have an extra wrapper element to deal with. I either have to use the wrapped type in my other complex, composed Types and/or add an external wrapping element when trying to create Business Services in BPM to call the BusinessRules I've created.
    This is a bit messy.
To be clear, this does not seem to be an issue with Business Rules; the BR editor and generation of Facts (including simple restricted types -> JAXB 2.0/Java Enumerations) seems to work correctly. There seems to be an issue exposing DFs as Services. The code which generated the WSDL and its supporting types seems to choke on restricted SimpleTypes.
As a side note, it seems that HumanTasks have a similar limitation

    Thank you for your reply.
With your help, I can verify it easier rather than creating dataform to verify it.
I have resolved the question now, the root cause is I had used the wrong parameter, shouldn't add '/N' in the command. for /N is a dry run to check whether there are error in CSV file, it won't perform metadata load.
If no error occured, run the command without /N, then the metadata load will be performed.

  • I'm not able to see Planning Application in Planning Webclient

    Hi,
I have created a Classic Planning Application in WorkSpace successfully and I'm able to see the same application after Refreshing application in EAS Console.
I have done necessary steps registering application with the shared services and I'm able to see that application in shared services project also. But I'm trying to access this application through Planning URL I'm not able to see Planning Application in Drop down list.
Could anyone suggest me what could be the problem for this?
We are using HYperion Planning Fusion Edition 11.1.1.2 Version.
    Thanks,
    Suresh.

So you have created a planning application and it was succesful, you go directly to planning and don't see it in the dropdown?
If so when you created the application what instance you set it against, if you have more than one instance and you have it against the non active instance you won't see the planning application in the drop down.
    Cheers

  • Unable to see Planning application under calculation Manager

    Hello All,
I created a Planning application in workspace and choose the Sahred Service Project as APS server. Now I want to create business rules. For that when I m lunching Calculation Manager from workspace, I m not able to see the appliaction that I had created before ,under Planning option of Calculation Manager.
    Thanks.......

I think you created a classic planning applications. Calc manager will not recognize classic planning applications in version 11.1.1.2 and prior.
You need to create a planning applications via EPMA and then you will see this in calc manager. If you have already opened calc manager, right click on the Planning node and do a refresh to synchronize the applications from EPMA.
    Hope this helps.

  • Creating planning application

    hi,
Whats the difference in creating planning application via EPMA and classic planning application in version 11?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Are you asking the question what is the difference between EPMA and a classic application.
EPMA is a seperate component to planning and basically it is a GUI for managing hierarchies before pushing it into the planning application.
EPMA can manage metadata for other areas such as HFM or essbase.
Classic planning you can maintain the metadata directory in planning web or you can use other tools such as ODI, DIM or the outline loader.
All the other elements of planning are managed in the same way.
If you want to find out in more detail I suggest having a read of the planning admin guide which can be found here
    Cheers
