Classic synching issues after adding iphone

Hopefully someone can help. I have been running two 160G ipod classics off my itunes. I got an 8G iphone as an upgrade and successfully synced it. To make the most of its small memory i changed all my music files from appleloss to 256kps. I tried to sync my classic but it came up with the message "Attempting to copy to disk failed. The disk could not be read or written from".
I then was able to successfully sync my iphone again but on trying to sync my fiancee's classic it came up with the same error message as my classic.
I was advised to uninstall and reinstall itunes which i have done to no avail. Strangely the classics syncing is failing after less and less time. it started off transfering 5G and is now down to 2G. I have since been apple to sync the iphone a number of times but has now decided to stop working completely and only displays the apple logo untill the battery runs out.
Please can anyone help?

In addition to removing iTunes, try removing "Apple Mobile Device Services" and Quicktime. You might want to download a fresh copy of the iTunes installer file to make sure yours is not corrupted, then install iTunes again (which will also install AMDS and Quicktime).

Synch issues after upgrade to iOS8 on iPad and iPhone.

iPhone 4S iPad mini 4 have been upgraded to iOs 8.0.2. Uncheck some music for iPhone in iTunes and synch never completes. Space utilized is now very different numbers in iTunes and Settings, General, About. I have done a hard reset on both devices.

Hi, after 8.0.1 & 8.0.2 updates we had these same issues on our iPads & 5s&c iPhones..
Yesterday I called Apple Corp, got thro' to Customer Relations & then a Senior Engineer.. After trying all the usual stuff he downloaded my Logs etc..
We await a reply in the near future from Apple Engineering..............

Server 2012 R2 Network Teaming Issues After Adding WOW64 Feature

Recently I have had a specific issue adding the WOW64 feature to an active Server 2012 R2 server in core mode (no management). The server had two active virtual machines. A server 2008 R2 in version 1 mode and a 2012 R2 in version 2.
All were up2date as of April 10 2015. This was a domain connected core with domain connected virtual machines. We are the domain administrator.
After using powershell to install WOW64 and issuing a restart we lost all external network connectivity to the server once the server came back up. From the console we could ping 127.0.0.1 and all the network addresses of each VM but not the
default gateway or any address on the local network. We tried several resolutions including disabling all firewall rules and assigning a known VLAN but nothing worked. Something went completely haywire within Windows 2012 R2 and network teaming
and the virtual switch that supplies the VM's with communication.
What we had to do was remove one of the physical network adapters from the team using powershell from the core console. We then assigned an address to the nic and whallah we were able to remotely communicate to the server again but the problem
still remained with communicating to the team.
After hours of trials we finally stumbled on a solution deleting the hyper-v virtual switch though a remote console, then the team through powershell. This of course broke all the hyper-v VM's. We said f'it and rebooted.
This is the magical combination apparently
We then recreated the team using the remote management GRAPHICAL widget using every physical EXCEPT the nic we were communicating to.   Then we recreated the hyper-v virtual switch remotely again with the GRAPHICAL widget and assigned
it an address using the command line sconfig tool.   We then went into the GRAPHICAL hyper-v manager and assigned all VM's to the new virtual switch. WOW everything works again
Let me just say here in this post that the lack of graphical management in CORE mode is a complete nightmare. The fact we have to use some graphical tools to perform certain tasks and the command line for others is just silly. The sconfig.exe
tool should have built-in teaming commands as inexperienced remote administrators are very difficult to work with over the phone trying to explain spelling of the upper/lowercase commands.
This post is more informative than really asking a specific question but if I were to ask one I'd ask, why did installing the WOW64 feature and rebooting break the external communication of the team and the virtual switch?

Backup is too large for iCloud after Adding iPhone?

Hi, I just added an iPhone 5c to my iCloud backup. Previously it had just been my iPad 3. All was well.
After I added my iPhone 5c, I enabled Photostream to upload all of my photos from the iPhone to iCloud to share on my iPad. It was after this that I got the message I had run out of room on my iCloud account to backup the iPhone.
So I'm a bit confused.
Aren't the Photostream images seperate from my iCloud account? Shouldn't the iCloud account only be backing up data not duplicated elsewhere like iTunes, Photostream, Contacts, Mail, etc? I haven't been using the iPhone 5c long enough to generate a lot of Messages. So I don't really understand why the iPhone data alone would be pushing me over the limit, of the iPad, which is similarly limited data.
Any thoughts? Is this somehow the problem of two devices backing up to iCloud and duplicating info?

icloud has 5gb of free storage which is not a lot for backing up multiple devices
you can delete backups for devices to make room by going to settings > icloud > storage and backup > manage storage
but in the long run if you want to have both devices backed up you will probably either need to use seperate icloud accounts for each device or upgrade your storage plan to 15gb for 20$/year

Contacts synching issues after installation of new Desktop Manager

After I installed the latest version of Desktop Manager a couple of weeks ago, my Outlook Contacts no longer synch correctly. It goes through the first 50 or so and then it's "off". It asks me to resolve conflicts between a profile in outlook and one on the Pearl that are for completely different people. It's as if the IDs on outlook and the IDs on the phone are completely out of synch?
I installed the new version today, same problem...
I've been using DM for years to synchronize with Outlook, never an issue.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

Synching Issues After Desktop Manager 6 Upgrade

Since I upgraded to Desktop Manager 6.0.0, I have two problems:
1) it no longer is synching my notes and tasks. When I click "Organizer" to look at the configuration options, it now says that Tasks and Memo Pad are not installed. They used to synch just fine.
2) When I do a 2-way synch for the calendar data, it want to makes changes to data that hasn't changed, and it wants to delete data that I haven't delected so I end up cancelling the synching altogether.
I suppose I could do a one time one-way synch from my computer to the device (my computer is generally more up-to-date than the device, but it makes me very nervous that the synching is so screwed up.
Help please!

Same thing. Sync was working perfectly. I upgraded and now the Desktop software very (un)helpfully comes up with an "unknown error".
I've reinstalled the desktop software and same (un)helpful error message

Send/receive issue after adding too many additional mailboxes

Hello Everyone,
I am trying to solve a problem with Outlook 2010, together with Exchange 2007 (SBS 2008 server). I am not sure if I should post this in the Exchange forum, or the Outlook 2010 section.
The inbox (or actually all folders) are not updating when I add too many additional mailboxes via Account Settings>More Settings>Advanced Tab.
When i keep it down at 4 mailboxes, all seems fine. When I add a fifth mailbox, it no longer syncs automaticly. The user has to manually select send/receive in order to receive mail.
What i tried:
1) Fixing OST
2) Removing OST, create a new one.
3) Create a new outlook profile
4) Tried /cleanviews and /safe switches
5) Checked all Office updates
6) Tried different Send/receive group configurations (altough it is to my understanding this should not apply for Exchange)
7) Disabling cache (not an option, outlook crashes a couple of minutes because of the large size of the additional mailboxes)
8) Disabling "Download Shared Folders" in Account Settings>More Settings>Advanced Tab
Could anyone assist with this problem? Thanks in advance!

As far as I know, Outlook 2010 allow up to 5 Exchange accounts to be configured in a single mail profile by default. But the limit can be changed up to 15 accounts by adding a registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Exchange
DWORD: MaxNumExchange
Value: a number between 1 and 15
Please try adding this key and let me know the result.

Synch issue after computer crash

My laptop recently died forcing me to reset to factory default -- I had everything backed up so was able to reestablish my itunes library, however since then - I cannot synch music or ibooks over to my iphone 4S??

This naming thing is very strange. Mine was already -2 because of a previous upgrade, so it wanted -2-2 first. I declined on that and tried to change the
name, but from then on it was downhill with regard to naming and even location. It wanted to create it in a subdirectory of where I pointed to, wanted to add more numbers... I finally gave up when it got to Lightroom Database-2-2-3.lrcat because it had agreed not to put it in a subdirectory (I achieved this by restarting Lightroom 3). I suppose in retrospect the extra numbers it was because it had created a Lightroom Database-2-2 Previews.lrdata already? But why did it want to put my catalog in a subdirectory sometimes and other times not?
So the catalog is converted and the renaming was successful.
Why does it "want" to use -2 for version 3? Why can't it behave like other applications and let you name it like you want. At least I was happy to hear that I can rename the lrcat -- and the previews subdirectory.
I hope this stubbornness is not a sign of things to come...

Synching issues library with iPhone 4

Hi I have an iPhone 4. I had some books in the library so I deleted them and re-synched the iPhone and restarted it and the books are no longer showing in the library but I can't get rid of them from the iPhone? Any ideas about this? Thanks. Steve.

-In the Sync menu, choose the Books tab.
-Check the box next to "Sync Books" then select the bubble next to "Selected books."
-Don't check any books, or uncheck any books you already have selected, so that it says "0 Books" next to the "Sync Books" checkbox.
-If that all looks good, hit Apply and let it sync.
That should replace the book library with a blank one. Once that's done, just uncheck "Sync Books" and Apply. Or if you have certain books you still want to sync, recheck them and Apply.

Speed issue after adding RAM

Hello all,
I recently upgraded RAM on my IMac from 4gb to 16gb. I practically see no difference. My FCPX version is 10.0.9 Rendering takes forever. Am I missing something? Do I need to reconfigure iMac?

The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.
Adding RAM only makes it possible to run more programs concurrently. It doesn't speed up the computer nor make games run faster. What it can do is prevent the system from having to use disk-based VM when it runs out of RAM because you are trying to run too many applications concurrently or using applications that are extremely RAM dependent. It will improve the performance of applications that run mostly in RAM or when loading programs.

AOL email sending issue, after latest iphone update

I have updated to the latest os. Now suddenly my AOL emai laddress has stopped sending, recieving is fine. I am alos using the company wifi, which is bt. I have also changed the outgoing mail server settings to smtp.btinternet.com, but still cant send.
Does anyone have any idea that might fix this.

no, you need to actually go to your settings and change it to push data rather then fetch it manually.
Settings>mail contacts and calendars>fetch new data>Push should say on.
and if it says its already on, tap it to turn it off, then tap again to turn it back on.
also, www.downrightnow.com you can see how extremely often throughout the day yahoo mail servers are down.

IPhone 5S Music syncing issues after 8.0.2

I have been having irritating issues getting my iPhone 5S to sync my music library over after updating to 8.0.2.
I did a backup onto my laptop prior to updating, and went ahead with the new update. The first thing I noticed was after updating to 8.0.2 in order to sync again, iTunes prompted me that I was lacking 6GB of data on my phone to sync my library. I did not use my phone at all during the updating process so there's no way 6GB of data was magically written on it's storage drive. I could not figure out why in the world iTunes would tell me I needed to free up 6GB to sync the exact same music that was already there prior to. I went ahead and completely deleted my entire Music library from the phone, and tried to resync fresh. I still got the same message from iTunes. Believing in the program and going ahead and doing some spring cleaning, I ended up freeing a good amount of things off of my phone, applications, photos, messages, etc. to drop 6GB from the storage. I went ahead and synchronized my iPhone 5S with iTunes so I could get my music on my phone. It proceeded to go ahead and sync my roughly 1400 songs onto the iPhone. After it was complete, it showed I had an astounding 12GB of free space on my phone... I said to **** with it and just wanted to play my music. The phone seems to have all of my library that I chose to sync on my Music app. The problem is, when I go to play songs the music app will Skip over certain songs. I have not found any commonality between which songs it chooses to skip. It skips newly added songs, it skips old songs, it skips purchased songs, it skips songs downloaded from other sites. There seems to be no structure to which songs it's skipping. Another thing to note, whenever I connect my iPhone 5S to my iTunes and sync, I am Always able to sync something new onto the phone (around step 5 or 6 when it is completing the sync, it will mysteriously add some songs to the phone). Those songs are playable. Then I shuffle through my playlist, and Still the same problem remains, it has removed some songs and skips over them. It seems to Sync songs, and Delete songs... completely at random. This is bothering me and I'm not sure what to do, and am Very unsatisfied with the amount of bugs still left in the software. I wonder if others are having similar issues and maybe we can bring some light to this.

Similar issue Andrew. After installing 8.0, the IOS deleted 225 songs from one of my playlists, and I'm still "recalling" songs that are no longer in my Music Library. Fortunately, although the playlist of 235 had only 6 songs left on it ( on my Mac), the Playlist was not erased from my I -Phone. I was able to recreate the Playlist on my Mac, using the intact playlist on my phone. When I synched however, I was back to square one. I went to the Apple store, and I had to reset the phone . We also downloaded IOS 8.02. They saved my playlist in the Cloud, deleted it from my Mac, then synched it. Lo and behold, the playlist I recreated on my Mac, synched to my I Phone. After the reset, I had like 11GB of free space. (Its been 5 days since the "reset" and the number of GBs fluctuates from day to day !!)
When I got home from the Apple store I spent after hours reinstalling all the apps, synchng the phone to the Bluetooth in my car ( you know the rest of the saga) , I purchased a song from I Tunes. I "drag and dropped" it into a Playlist, and synched. Didn't work. Song shows in "Recently Added", but the drag and drop feature doesn't work. Bottom line, I'm not willing to "reset" my phone every time I add a song ! I've tried any number of fixes posted to this support community, but none have worked for me.
Furthermore, it took me 3 hours to get the phone re-synched to the Bluetooth system in my car. However every time I connect to "Bluetooth Audio", the system needs to "find" and "reconnect to" my phone. If you ( or anyone else ) finds something that might work for both the music synch and /or the Bluetooth, I'd appreciate your input.

MS Outlook 2003 and Iphone 2G calendar synching issues

I have just recently (after a very long IPhone download) am having synch issues. Some of my appointments are on the Iphone but not seen on Outlook. I read something about a com add in but when I tried to check this and add, my outlook didn't have this option. I am very aggravated!!!! I am in sales and have many appts during the day and now I am afraid I am going to forget one if i don't check both phone and outlook.. Please help!!!!

This is causing alot of problems no idea what percentage of windows users sync'ing with Outlook this is effecting but a lot of unhappy campers out there.

Apple although acknowledged the problem, now 2 weeks ago seem in no hurry to correct it, something to do with trying to sell MobileMe a cynic may say? Problem has mean't alot of businesses returning iphones, exchanging for Blackberries or just trying to revert back to their smartphones or ppc's.
This added to the problems of bluetooth handsfree kits not working with voicemail and 3G problems I suspect Apple are wishing they never released Firmware 2.0 and iTunes 7.7.
We are all hoping for a swift patch for this critical problem but then again we were doing that 2 weeks ago too... until then at least my XDA Orbit still works.
Repeating the appointment once so it is a reoccuring one day appointment has proved to work in the meantime - major pain though. I am testing Dionhall's fix at the moment, it sounds as if it is fixing the problem for most users. (See link above)

IPhone 3GS getting hot after adding hotmail active sync

After adding 2 of my hotmail account as Microsoft exchange accounts using active sync, I have noticed that my iphone 3GS is getting extremely hot. I already have gmail through exchange for more than a year now for contacts and calendar. This heating problem started after adding these 2 hotmail accounts. Anyone else experiencing the same issue. Please help.

Try resetting your iPhone. From the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. All your preferences are reset, but no data or media is deleted.
See if that makes a difference.
