Classic won't accept lossless files.

Hello all.  I have a Classic model a1136, with 1.3 firmware.  Does the 1.3 not accept ALAC files?  If not, is there a workaround?  Thanks.

Connect your iPod to iTunes and see what is the software version as shown in the iPod Summary page.
Your Model a1136 (iPod 5th Gen) is using software 1.3, the Software version 3.1 is for iPod 4Gen.
There is no problem for either model to play ALAC format, just  select the song/s
Click Advanced menu
Click Create iPod Version

  • 80 gb classic won't accept rented movies

i just bought 80 gb Ipod Classic i tried to transfer a rented movie it says it won't play on this ipod. also, i originally tried to upgrade to 1.1.1 but it doesn't take. i've tried to upgrade several times but it just keeps going through the motions and then asks me again if i want to upgrade to 1.1.1 over and over...

I have the same problem with my iPod Classic 160GB. I rented a movie in iTunes last Tuesday and since then have been unable to get it to sync to my iPod no matter what I try. Clicking the Report a problem link in my receipt for the purchase is no help either. It doesn't take me anywhere helpful.

  • I've resized disk image, but it still won't accept new files

Hi! I made a dmg and put files in it. It filled up, so I resized it from the toolbar in disk utility. The icon indeed has the new size (according to Get Info), but as soon as I open it it reverts to the old size and it won't let me put in any more files. Help anone?

the procedure would be quite simple. start disk utility and go to file menu->new-> blank disk image. set it to be a sparse image or a sparse bundle disk image. and specify its max size manually. there are some other parameters in the disk image creation popup but you can leave them as default. then the image will be created and mounted on the desktop. open it and also open your old dmg. select everything in the old dmg and drag it over to the new sparse image. once it copies unmount the old dmg and trash it.

  • External hard drive won't accept certain files from Itunes

I hooked up a Lacie External Hard drive, I am dragging songs from my Itunes onto my lacie external hard drive. I'm doing this for backup and storage purposes. Everything was going well until The external hard drive started to randomly not "see" some files. I would drag the file over the folder I had created on the Ex. hard Drive, and it recognizes it, but when I release the mouse button to drop it in the folder...It doesn't "land" in the folder. Is it a problem with my mac or the external hard drive? Is there a setting I don't know about?

some of the music from iTunes are protected files (.m4p), especially if they are ones you bought from Apple Music Store, there is in my experience DRM that basically says they cant be copied to other locations like to a CDR or external HD. Apple's way to protecting against music piracy.
A while back I decided to move my collection to my external and its worked great ever since.
thats the way I do it for my machine.
I have a 40GB external Fw400 HD with my mp3 collection on it.
I set up iTunes to see that drive as its home spot.

  • My 80 GB classic won't read the files I have synced up to it over the past 4 years, but it still shows that the files are still in there somewhere. How can I recover those files?

I manually manage my music on my iTunes library. Once I have it downloaded on my laptop, then click and drag it to my iPod, I delete the files from my computer to save memory space. So I basically don't have ANY back-ups to over half of the music that was on my iPod. The other week I did what I usually do to add music to my iPod, but once I disconnected it fro  my computer, my iPod said there was no music, movies, or anything on there. If you highlight over the Settings it reads that there are still 60 GB of space free out of 80 GB. How can I recover those files that are clearly still on my disk without erasing everything I installed into it?

In my Computer, click the  iPod icon ->Properties->Tools->Error Checking
    Click Check Now.
If it doesn't help, you have to use 3rd Party apps to recover these lost files, as the iPod filesystem got corrupted.

  • My Zen Micro won't accept ANY fil

Hey, I'm not technologically illiterate here, but my files WILL NOT MOVE from my computer to the darn thing.
I've followed the directions numerous times over, unspecific as they are, & still nothing. This is deeply frustrating, as I'm sure you can imagine.
So what am I doing wrong? Am I missing something here? Do I need to maybe do something other than charge it & connect it to the computer?
ANY help would be soooo very appreciated.

I can't even GET to my music...there's none ON it.
It plays fine on my player--the one from them, WMP, & Winamp, all of them.
I haven't done that yet, I will try it if this attempt doesn't work.
(By the way, thanks for dealing with my utter stupidity when it comes to this thing!)

  • Ipod classic won't sync video files

I have .mov and .m4v and .mp4 video files that used to work perfectly with my ipod but now I get the message that "x wasn't synced with your ipod because it was not compatible"  Extremely annoying.  I have checked teh bit rates etc and they are al withing what the spec says the ipod will play.  Indeed I have older files of the same type that it plays fine but not these newer ones.
    Help

Are these videos from the iTunes store or imported from outside of iTunes?  If they were imported from outside of iTunes try using the iTunes built in converter to try and convert the videos to an even friendlier iPod format.  To do this, highlight the video and choose Create iPod or iPhone version from the Advanced drop down menu.

  • Premiere CS5 h.264 export file and TMPGEnc Express 4.0 won't accept but Encore CS5 will accept, why?

I have just exported a sequence of video in h.264 and TMPGEnc Express 4.0 won't accept the file.  I have used CS3 before and works fine.  It will work with Encore CS5 though.  When I rename the extension file from .m4v to .mp4, it imports fine to TMPGEnc Express 4.0, why?

  • Transfer lossless files to classic

I import CDs into iTunes as lossless files.
I use my Classic with a Wadia 170i and Audio Good NFB-3.1 DAC and as such want to best quality to be stored on the Classic.
Currently, the sound files on my Classic are converted to AAC-256kbps. Given the 160GB capacity of my Classic, I really want lossless files on it. Is it just a matter of deselecting "Convert higher bit rate songs" to achieve this?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

mskatyjane, have you recevied any other info on this problem?  I have the same question, i.e.
I have an iPod Touch and so does my son.  Until now, I have "shared" my iTunes account with him, syncing both iPods to my iTunes account, and only putting on his iPod the music/games he liked.  He is now old enough to have his own iTunes account on his own computer.  Is there a way to create an AppleID for him and transfer his info from my iTunes account into his new one?  I believe that if I create an Apple ID for him, and try to sync his iPod, it will say that his iPod is already synced with another iTunes/Apple ID account.
Hope we get a response!  I have posted my question separately as well.

  • Will Photoshop Elements12 accept RAW files directly from Sony rx100ii

I already own Photoshop Elements 10 but it won't accept raw files from my recently purchased Sony rx100ii. My question is: If I upgrade to Photoshop Elements 12 does this program allow RAW downloads directly from this camera?

    Hi,
According to the table Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras the RX100 II is supported by camera raw 8.2.
PSE 12 can be updated to include that version of camera raw. If you want, you could always check it out by downloading the trial version of PSE 12. The trial version can easily be converted to a full version if you decide to buy it.
The other alternative is to download & install the free Adobe DNG converter. Use that to convert your raw files to DNG format which can then be used by PSE 10.

  • Ipod Touch:  Does it have problems playing Apple Lossless files?

    Hi All
This might sound like a strange question to some of you but considering the hassles I am having with the 120gb classic it isn't.
To make a long story short my 120gb classic cannot play Apple Lossless files properly. Essentially they crash the ipod because the files are too large. I have done some research and on many forums people are experiencing the same problem.
I do find it quite offensive that Apple do not have the courage to admit this is a problem but there is nothing I can do about it.
So my solution is to get rid of my 120gb classic and move to a Sony or Cowon player (still doing research to make sure they can handle lossless (not apple) files).
However i really do love everything else about the ipod so I would love to find a way to keep it.
I figure maybe the new ipod touch's might not have this problem because they are solid state and if that is the case then I can stump up for one of those and keep with the ipod brand.
Does anyone know if the Touch's can deal with these large files? Apparently the problem with the old 120gb classics was the small 64mg cache. Hopefull the Ipod touch doesn't have this issue.
Anyway any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Eddie

If I went with an Ipod touch it would be a newer so I guess it would have the newest OS on it.
I'll wait awhile longer and do some more research before I take the plunge because I do not want to get ripped off like I did with the 120gb Classic.
Thanks for the reply though. At least it is leading into the right direction!

  • Premiere won't accept new source files in slightly different formats...

I'm using CS3 (and I installed CS4 and got the same problem).  I've created a video using six different source videos that were originally encoded in XVID.  I now know that was a bad idea but at the time I didn't know how to convert the video so I went ahead and used them.  Now my project crashes to the desktop whenever I open it without any sort of error message.
This is a project that I started over a year ago and I set it aside because I didn't want to deal with the issue, but I really want to finish this project.  Now I have a better handle on what sort of codecs work well with premiere and I use Super C to convert the videos to a friendly format and I haven't had any problems with my projects crashing since then.
So now I've revisted the project that is crashing and I have tried converting the original source videos to a more friendly format, but hte problem is, even when I get it to a format that is pretty much exactly the same settings as the original (size, fps, etc) premiere won't accept it.  When I open the project and it asks me "Where is the file..." I'll point to the new file and premiere tells me "The selected file cannot be linked because its type (video) does not match original file's type (audio and video)".. I try this after opening the project by right clicking on the asset and choosing "link media..." but of course I get the same error message.
What i've gotten done in the project is like 10 hours worth of work and it would be a shame to lose all of it just because Premiere is too picky about switching from one media type to another .. what are my options in getting this to work?

    Welcome to the forum.
Yes, Xvid is a delivery-only format for delivery-only, but you know that too.
What I would do would be to Open that original Project, and then Offline the original Video. If you named the converted files the same, except for the extension, you should be able to then Import the replacement files and manually replace those. Make sure that when you choose to Offline the Assets, that you do a Save_As, so that the original Project is NOT overwritten - keep it safe.
You might try to Relink from the Project Panel, before you do the Import. I do not know if that will be allowed, due to the extension difference, but that would be the easiest way, if it works. Try that first. With the material Offline, Rt-click on each AV file, and choose Link Media. If you used the same file names, you should be able to find the converted versions. Let us know if this works, or if you get rejected.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • I am trying to edit VOB files and Photoshop cs6 ext. won't accept them.

I am trying to edit some VOB files from my daughter's wedding CD.  But Photoshop won't accept that format.  I read that I could just change the extension to AVI  and drag them in.  I did that and it opened  them but the video and audio didn't sync.  The size was distorted but I figured out that I could change the aspect ratio to widescreen from the view menu which looks pretty normal.  But I see black lines on the sides of the video.   What do I have to do to be able to edit the video??
    Thanks

VOBs are multiplexed MPEG-2 DVD files and they adhere therefore to the DVD spec - 720x576 pixels, 1.43 pixel aspect ratio. Anyway, you are wasting your time. The files will need to be converted in an external tool to be usable in PS and even then the question is how much sense it makes to edit video in Photoshop, especialyl when it contains audio. Premiere or other edit programs would be much more adequate.

  • Why won't the new Photos app accept JPG files from my Kodak Easy Share like iPhoto did?

Why won't Photos accept JPG files from my camera like IPhoto did?

    As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?
I would note there is a long-standing issue between Kodaks and some versions of OS X - the workaround for that is to use a USB Card reader.

  • Why MacBookPro/Motorola pair but won't accept file?

I pair fine with my Motorola razr phone, isync syncs contacts etc. fine, but when I try and send a file, phone alerts "Incoming Transfer", then asks if I wish to accept the transfer, and as soon as I press "accept" it flashes "Failed: connection interrupted".
Then I went into sharing prefs, tried to click (enable) bluetooth sharing, but it won't accept enabling, the checkbox stays empty.
I'm pretty good with this stuff but on this I'm clueless. Any help most appreciated. Thank you.

I have a Motorola Razr2 V9m, and I can't even get that to sync with my Mac. The phone keeps trying to connect to the computer, and the computer doesn't even recognize the phone. Is apple ever going to fix this, am I doing something wrong, or am I just s.o.l.?
