Classic won't run since i rebooted my mac
hi
I don't remember my powermac G5 coming with two discs but i've recently bought a new macbook pro and given my powermac to my dad for using at work, which was all fine until i tried to install photoshop 5 (which i need to install so I can install my upgrades to CS1) and connect the printer which both need Classic to run, i know i've run classic before but since i've deleted everything and rebooted it from scratch it doesn't seem to be there and i can't find an 'additional software' disc anywhere.
is there any way i can download classic or get a new additional software disc? cos at the moment it's a bit like having half a computer. i've searched google and the mac store but can't seem to find anything
thanks in advance
James
Is the matter at hand, related to re-installing a Classic system into the
computer you say your dad now has? Or is it related to attempting to
use a third-party software in the replacement computer you now have?
The PowerMac G5 series computer (a tower version) would probably have
shipped with a set of machine-specific install discs, and Classic should
have been on a second disc along with the restore copies of any other
software included with the OS X that were not directly in the System.
You may be able to order a replacement set of original discs for that G5
direct from Apple Sales support at the phone number in the main web site.
For that, the original serial number, model info and method of payment
would be required; and hope such a version is still available from them
that would include the extra software, outside of a main OSX replacement.
Which computer was it, that won't run Classic since it was rebooted?
The only one would be the G5, since a newer Intel-based Mac won't
natively use a Classic system; and I am mentioning the obvious since
your initial question was not so exacting in the matter.
Good luck & happy computing!

160gb ipod classic won't sync since update to 11.2.2, system wants to wipeout all current info on device
same has happened to me, on and off, for the last 6 months. Its an issue with the Mavericks system and ipod classics. works great for a while - then one day for no reason - erases the entire iPod. some days the copmputer will not recognize the iPod and you have to start over. Apple will tell you that "you" may have a disc problem in the device. that is all the help I have received.

I have always enjoyed running Firefox on my pre-intel mac OS 10.4 but the current upgrade I was forced to download did not launch. After trying it several times, I went to you website and manually downloaded the only version (4.0) I saw available which overwrote the one I had. But it won't run on this mac.
Please tell me where I can download a version that will run on my mac.
Thank youThe Firefox 3.6.28 version that is offered on that page is the most recent Firefox version that runs on your PPC Mac with OS X 10.4

I was prompted to upgrade to Firefox 4 - I have a 3.6 version. When I move it to my application folder and tried to run it, I get the error that it cannot run with my version of Mac OS. I'm not sure how to update my OS version or go back to an older version of Firefox.
Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5. You can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com -
Classic won't run on 10.4.11
Hey everyone I'm having a little trouble right now and it is quite frustrating. I am trying to use some old classic programs I have installed on my computer and classic no longer starts! I have my original install cd's and have reinstalled classic multiple times. When I reinstall it and try to run it clean it says "Classic needs to update files in "system folder" I click update and it just freezes and does not update or open classic. I have read around and tried deleting Classic, Classic Support, Classic Support UI, Classic Rave ect and all combination's. Can anyone help me get classic running again? It would be much appreciated! Thank you.
You're doing evrything right.
Have you emptied the Trash with the old OS9 System Folder and Applications folder - I'm sure you have, but, again, I have to ask.
I had considered the OS9 Drivers on the disk used for Classic (set in Disk Utility), but those don't affect Classic.
Neither does the use of large hard disks - OS9 has a volume limit of about 190GB, but again this applies only to booting OS9. I use Classic apps with a 1TB and a 2TB disk in my PMG5.
Not booting without extensions is not a good sign - it should be a heavily cut down System Folder anyway. I can only assume that it is corrupt somewhere, but it's good enough to start Classic enough to try to update the Extensions. I wonder if they are corrupt ? I'm not sure where they are stored in OSX.
There is a Classic Support page:
http://www.apple.com/support/tiger/classic/
with a long list of Troubleshooting tips, but they're all rather basic.
I did consider checking the Classic extensions my OS9 System Folder, but mine is not from the restore discs, it's a straight copy of the folder from my G4 MDD - which did boot OS9. -
Update problem, Lightroom 5.5, won't run since update
Hi, I did the update for Lightroom 5.5 at the same time as Photoshop cc, and since I updated Lightroom will not run at all. I've even tried running as administrator but it seems to just not point to the program at all. I removed the program and then re-installed from the creative cloud but still have the same problem

Itunes won't run since downloaded 7.2

Photoshop CS5 won't run in 64-bit on Mac Pro anymore
Hi,
Wondered if anyone could help with the problem I'm having with Photoshop CS5. It's suddenly not working anymore and it crashes on launch straight away. I haven't installed any new updates or moved the app from its original install directory or added anything to my system so don't know why it's crashing the only thing I've worked out is that I can oen in 32-bit mode so assume the problem must be specific to something running in the 64-bit mode.
Here's the report I get, thanks for any help in advance:

0x7fff87c99000 - 0x7fff87cdafff com.apHi, for anyone reading this thread, I finally fixed the issue causing Photoshop CS5 to crash in 64-bit but not in 32-bit mode. I left the problem and came back to it fresh the next morning and tried to think of any additional plug-ins I installed, which was only 1 and looking at there website told me it was 64-bit. I also installed 1 javascript and a few optional Adobe plug-ins, all of which were removed and still didn't help. They were all minor plug-ins I thought they wouldn't be the cause so put them back. Finally I thought of any changes I made to the UI side of Photoshop and that's where I found it! I'd added some extra Actions to the Actions palette. It seem so minor a thing but it worked, Photoshop now boots up in 64-bit again! I tested my theory again by trying to re-add the Actions with with Action Set I saved before hand and each time I did it crashed. So for anyone else having this issue try this and see if it helps, if it doesn't try removing any additions you added to any other palettes and see if that helps.

My 160gb ipod classic won't sync to itunes on a mac (I've tried everything)
Just got a 160gb ipod classic off of craigslist. The slate grey one.
It says "connected eject before disconnecting" on the ipod when I plug it in and nothing shows up in itunes. Every once in a while the "sync" circulating arrows start up, then stops and goes back to the plug symbol.
It isn't available under "devices".
I updated itunes, I restarted my mac, I put the ipod into and out of recovery mode (while plugged into itunes and on it's own), and still nothing.
Everything on the ipod works perfectly fine.
One thing to note, is the ipod is completely full. It has like 3kb of free space. Could this be part of the problem? Is there any way to delete directly off the ipod not through itunes?
Is it possible that it's formatted for windows and needs to be reformatted for mac? If so, how do I do that?
Please help! You may refer to this tutorial, it's about how to fix iTunes sync problem with iPod. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

Photoshop cs6.app won't run on this type of Mac
I have been running Photoshop CS5 Extended on my Mac for some time without any problems. I have just purchased a copy of Photoshop CS6 Extended, it seems to have installed correctly, but when I try to run it, I get the following message:
"You can't open the application Adobe Photoshop cs6.app because it is not supported on this type of Mac"
I am trying to run the application on an Apple MacBook running OS X v10.6.8, it has an Intel 2Ghz Core Duo processor, 1Gb memory.
Does anyone know if this is a fault with the application or if it is just not compatible with my Mac as it is suggesting. Is there anything I can do to get it to run other than buying a new Mac?Hello!
The core duo is a 32bits processor. Photoshop CS6 is 64bits only on a Mac, so you need at least a Core2Duo processor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Core
Do post the contents of help>system info...from CS5. (remove your serial)
It is always good to test the trial before purchasing something.

Aperture won't run on 10.5.8 Mac Air
I love Aperture and use it on my home Mac and MAc Book Pro. But it won't start up on Mac Book Air? Should I reload?
OK; so here is the story, the newly loaded Aperture didn't work so I placed it in trash; I then dragged the one I previously had on the machine and that I had put to trash before back into my applications file - and it works... strange....

How can you FORCE Classic mode to run on an Intel Mac? OS 9 emulation Rosetta Software Design
Hello everyone, I had a few thoughts on running Classic mode on intel macs which I wanted to share.
Now I know little about software design, but maybe someone who does could tell me if these ideas I had are at all feasible:
Now in the first place I now that, technically, "Classic" mode went out back with Tiger because of the switch to Intel chips. Switching to Intel, Rosetta was required to "translate" pre and non-intel OSX applications, with the exception of Classic since Rosetta does not translate deep enough into the system to do that. As a substitute to Classic, SheepShaver, Basilisk II, etc. can be used to emulate OS 9, but these are very lousy applications compared to Classic mode.
Is there ANY way whatsoever Rosetta could be edited, or Classic itself so that it will work on intel macs?
(that is, with the exception of 10.7+ systems since these don't even use Rosetta)
I know if Classic was placed on an intel mac, it would tell you to download Rosetta, but from there will crashes because frameworks in the system's library does not support (or was not designed for) Classic...
So what I wanted to know:
What if an old, Classic supporting PowerPC system's library folder was added to an Intel computer in a location other then that computers real system folder (as not to confuse the real, current system) and Classic manually edited so that it would search for the needed frameworks/etc files in the new location? Would it work?
Since, after all, it now has the correct "system" to run on (which before Rosetta could not convert), do you think there's any chance it would work and function properly?
Now beyond that, I wouldn't know the actual results (or consequences). I suppose the main problem to consider would be that the the PPC's system frameworks/etc wouldn't work at all on an Intel (which leads us back to Rosetta lacking in this area), and since those frameworks will be searching for other files in the system library (which would bring them to the current, Intel system) the same results would happen: crash! Or maybe sensing the system was mixed up, one or more files would try to "fix" themselves, and in turn destroy the computer's real system.
So, would it be worth a try?
I'd love to hear any other thoughts on running Classic on Intel...There is an "easier" way to acquire SheepShaver called Chubby Bunny and I have put together a post with some safe links that are relevant to this topic. I see that emaculation is one of them.
Why do you need OS 9 greater than 9.04?
Feel free to let me know if you need any more help.
With the newer Intel Macs, you have to run a Classic emulator such as SheepShaver, which requires you to extract the Mac ROMs from your older Classic Mac and then install Mac OS 9.
A related program is Chubby Bunny, which comes bundled with all of that included.

Classic won't launch after upgrade to Tiger
I have a user who's machine was just upgraded to 10.4.5, and now Classic won't launch.
I copied the system files from the resource folder in case they were corrupt, but it didn't help.
I tried to launch classic with extensions off, no go.
Rebuilt the desktop, no help.
when you try to launch Classic, it opens the start window and just hangs. Left it for half an hour, and it never launched.
I looked for the DivX file in /Library/application support, nothing there.
classic worked fine under 10.3.9.
Any thoughts on what to do next? Is it safe to reinstall OS 9.2 overtop or is a complete wipe and load necessary (hope not, as user has beaucoup third party apps).
Help!

The update of the files belonging to Classic presents a problem.
Classic could not update its files in " System Folder" of "Macintosh HD
Didn't find any DivX file
Before, Classic worked fine under 10.2.8
I Installed a new OS 9.2.2 , and renamed the former system " Old System"
What's next ?

I accepted your last online upgrade request and it worked for basic browsing, but the Comcast mail page stopped working correctly (the buttons: Save as Draft, Delete, Add attachment, etc. are inactive).
Thinking it was corrupted, I deleted the current version on my machine and installed the latest download and it tells me it won't run on this version of Mac OS.Firefox 3.6.23 is still supported secure and will work with OSX 10.4
* see [[installing a previous version of firefox]]
* download from http://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all-older.html
Note do NOT use any options that say delete user settings, you will loose all profile information for all normally installed versions of firefox, so that is pass words and bookmarks etc disappear.
You mention Comcast
Note IDvault sometimes provided by Comcast has been associated with Firefox crashes (bug 684748) consider
* ensuring you have the latest version of that software if you use it <br/> (the problem may be solved in the latest versions)
* disabling or uninstalling the software if it is a problem -
I am running WIndows7. I boot up load itunes and it runs fine.. all aspects.
When I close it down and try to get back in later it just sits there. It won't work until I reboot the computer.
I have updated and reloaded several times. NothingLet's see whether this file APSDaemon.exe is the problem here.
Close your iTunes.
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del key and choose Task Manager. In the "Processes" Tab, select the file APSDaemon.exe and click End Prosses button, then close the task manager window.
Now open itunes and see if it is working?
If that works, make sure you do this below to prevent same problem after restarting windows:
Go to. START button, type in
MSCONFIG
Hit ENTER
Click STARTUP Tab, Uncheck "Apple Push", click OK.
Restart Windows.

How do i change chart colors in Keynote for iPad?
Is there a way to change a color manually, instead of relying on the theme? It repeats colors after five items in the data set, which makes it very difficult to interpret.
